Po Po Garden is our go-to for East Sacramento Chinese food. We always order to-go and have had nothing but positive experiences. We especially love the General’s chicken and vegetable fried rice.

Food was okay but not great. Could be better taken care of too. I don’t know if it was because I went in the morning but honestly this could be a really good place if they just watched to make sure that their food only has what is supposed to be on it and not anything else and if they just payed attention a little more to the detail in the quality of the things that they give to their customers, it would definitely make it worth going weekly.

i really enjoyed the service Katleen provided. She was very polite and and attended to us promptly. The restaurant doesn’t have a chic look inside but the food and service is great. I enjoyed the home vibe to this place

There are many choices for Chinese food in the immediate area. 1. Look at the kitchen and think about the environment. 2. While you are waiting for your food, if you have a sense of smell, you may notice the dated ventilation from the attic and fans with a terrible odor of? rock wool. The vents are dirty from whatever is up there and it’s aerating the food. 3. The food: disappointing at best. I inquired about where the chicken was purchased– the answer: the Chinese market. Have you been to a Chinese market recently and looked at the meat? 4. Vegetarian was the only option. It was disappointing at best. The cost is reasonable, but the quality of the food made me feel that it was a waste of money. I’d wished I’d gone to Panda Express or anywhere else. I’m not one who favors negativity, but neighbors need to be aware that this establishment does not provide the quality that one might hope for in East Sacramento.

Unfortunately I have to downgrade my review. After having them put meat in my vegetarian food and then not really caring that they did, I stayed away for a little while. I decided to try them out against last week for a to go order. We came in and said we wanted to place a to go order. We stood there at the front for about 10 minutes while the worker took call after call after call of to go orders. I personally think people who are actually in the restaurant should have priority… or atleast after a few calls you could stop and take THEIR order. We finally got to order. They said it would take 10 minutes, which I was surprised by since so many other to go orders were put in the kitchen before we could even place ours. We went to target and came back and it still wasn’t ready(no big deal, except its weird they would only say it would be 10 minutes). Anyway, we came back in and waited at the front again while the same employee stocked the beers for a few minutes. To reiterate– if a person walks in and is standing at the front, maybe give them priority over side work that can be done during a slow moment.

I wanted to say«go go» to Po Po Garden, but alas its just«so-so». As we entered the restaurant, we waited a couple minutes before someone came out from the back and offered to seat us. No big deal as we weren’t in a hurry, but it was a kind of an awkward first impression. Once we were seated, we ordered some hot tea and some egg rolls to get things going. We followed up with the cashew chicken and veggie fried rice. Our server was friendly and service was prompt throughout our visit, but the food was simply average. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were reasonable, but the flavor just wasn’t there. Also, despite the good portions, we felt that the chicken dish also had very little chicken. Overall I would say service, portions, and price are pretty good. But of you are looking for great tasting Chinese food, you can probably do better.

We are here from out of town and looking for a place for a family dinner. Tried to order juice or milk for the grandkid. They said they only have Hawaiian Punch as a juice. My daughter ordered beef and mushroom and ask if it was simply beef and mushroom the waitress said yes it was. when we got it it was a plate of vegetables with some beef in it. We ordered orange chicken and it was burnt sauce and jerky style chicken it was overcooked so much. The chow mein was a dark brown glaze on it with burnt noodles that were very al dente. We ordered house style fried rice that was ok but left a funky taste of maybe dirty dishes in your mouth. We also ordered walnut shrimp and that was the only thing that was good but a very small portion.

Best Chinese food we have ever had! Not greasy, great portions and great flavors. The price point is normal and we just split the bbq pork chow mein and honey walnut shrimp. Super small inside, but perfect for takeout or a last minute option on a busy Friday/Saturday night.

The crispy chicken combo plate is one of my fave guilty pleasure plates. For the East Sac/Arden area, this is my definitely my go to Chinese spot! The combos are a great deal and they’re even cheaper during lunch. I can never finish a combo plate and always have leftovers. I wish I would’ve known about this place when I went to Sac State. The chow mien isn’t greasy like it can be other places and the fried rice is great too. The orange chicken and war won ton is very tasty too. If you’re in the mood for Chinese food and you’re in the area, check this place out!

On couple occasions, they have served me dry dry meat… Especially when I placed pick up order, little dissatisfied with them, the quality of food is not the same.

For a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant, this place is excellent. It comes with the cheap faux wood paneling on some of the walls, has enormous and cheap portions, has good food that comes out piping hot straight out of the wok, they keep your water cup filled, and they are quite friendly. We stumbled on this place while heading to Rancho Cordova for a gymnastics meet, so we really lucked out.

The food wasn’t all that good. Service was okay but for the most part you can get better food somewhere else.

Awful. I ordered and paid for my meal with a credit card at 7:38pm online. It’s 9:05pm. I have no food and the restaurant hasn’t picked up any of my dozens of calls over the last 30 minutes and is now closed. And now most places we could have ordered from are also closed. Absolutely horrible way to run a business.

The food is really good here, I usually get the kung pao chicken lunch plate or ala carte, the reason for the 3 stars is for the service.

Bomb lunch!!! Had the #4 with General Chicken, chow mein, fried rice, egg roll AND soup! The plate is massive and only $ 6.50. Some of the best Chinese food I’ve had in a long time! Delicious…

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I mean, first of all, the parking area really sucks and I try to mean that in the nicest way possible. This eatery is located in a strip mall with other businesses and the smallest parking lot you can imagine to hold all the patrons that go to these other places. However, once I finally found parking, I was able to peruse through the menu and find a lunch special that would appease my appetite. Mind you I was starving so practically anything edible would’ve done the job. I read the Unilocal reviews prior to coming here so I knew what to expect. Upon entering the door, you can check out the menu on the window(actually prior to getting through the door you can check it out) and see if you like what they have to offer. Even though the lunch specials come with egg rolls and rice, you are allowed to substitute for chow mein if you are like me and don’t eat rice. I thought that was a nice little tidbit. However, I wouldn’t have known this fact had I not asked. So, don’t be shy. If you don’t know, ask. If you don’t see it on the menu, ask. Just ask. They are really nice people. The dining area is no frills. There aren’t any super annoying decorations. There are enough tables for this place as it is small. An average number of people seem to dine in while others take theirs to go, especially on a nice day. I mean, who wouldn’t. Anyway, there are a couple of chairs to sit in while you wait for your to-go order. My order only took about 5 – 7 minutes and I was on my merry way. Plus, the food was piping hot by the time I got back to the hospital. Granted, it was only around the corner, but believe me, some food just don’t stay that hot. I’ve ordered the kung pao chicken and the Mongolian beef dishes. Both of which are really good. I’ve ordered both with chow mein and it was ok. They weren’t fabulous but they didn’t make me sick either, which is always a plus. They give you a ton of food. I ordered my meals for lunch and there was plenty leftover for dinner. I think I could have used a little more spice to my dishes, especially when they are listed as spicy dishes. The egg roll was nice and crispy with the right amount of flavor and I don’t mean the oil it was cooked in. All in all, I would come back. The food is good. The staff is friendly. Parking sucks but you deal with it. Also, the prices are good if you are on a budget and/or you need to feed a ton of people. One lunch special could probably feed 2 people or 4 kids. Happy eating.

Fantastic value and great Chinese food. Pot stickers were just made and so good. They had delicious spices in the filling, not to doughy, not to small, not too greasy… perfect comes to mind. Lunch was a huge plate of food that included soup. $ 20 for two huge lunches, 6 pot stickers, 2 spring rolls and two Tsingtao beers. RUN, don’t walk to this place. Service good, surrounds very clean but nothing fancy. As long as the place is clean and the food very good, service on par, I’ll give the place 5 stars for what it is, good food at a great price. Try the pot stickers! (PS, THESEARENEWOWNERS, SOANYREVIEWBEFOREAUG2014) DOESNOTAPPLYNOW.)

Best lunch specials around. Food is always on point. The portions are large and always come out hot. Service is great. However, dinner time is another story. Food took 45 minutes to come out… while to-go orders were flying out the door. The server that helped us at night left, maybe went on break? And the chef had to come out and deliver the food. I’ll stick with going for lunch.

Tried this place for the first time tonight and I was not disappointed! The staff was extremely friendly and the portions were very big. Try their cream cheese wontons and honey walnut shrimp! You won’t be disappointed.
