So sad this place closed, my family loved going there to eat. Everything was delicious and cooked fresh for you and was a great value for the amount of food you recieved. I always felt bad leaving leftovers. My aunt doesn’t eat rice, so we would always ask for a small serving of fried rice and they would still bring out a heaping plate full of fried rice and there was no way humanly possible that I could eat it all by myself.

I’m so sad that this place is closed… still… after all these months(seems like an eternity). If anyone knows where another cosmopolitan style chinese in Sacramento please email me samhtorres @ yahoo. com Thanks and RIP to the Empire

This restaurant is great! Food is tasty and we’ll prepared with fresh ingredients and balanced seasonings. Atmosphere is casual-upscale, accommodating large parties with oversized lazy-susans atop big round tables. Bar is adequately stocked and beers are served frigid cold. Cosmopolitan dinner buffet has always satisfied even the pickiest of dinners with made to order dishes of two dozen varieties of hot appatizers and entrées. Owner is always there, and runs his business with commanding grace. Asian/Pacific cuisine is subjective to each dinner’s perception of authenticity, yet this well rooted restaurant has made its mark with delicious food and solid service. Everyone expects greatness, and this place meets the mark!

My favorite Chinese restaurant EVER has shuttered. My world has grown dimmer, and far less tasty. My moment of silence for this restaurant will last a lifetime. RIP Eastern Empire, your chow mein was the greatest I ever tasted!

We loved this place, it was a great value. I am sad to report they are closed permanently, at least according to the sign on the door this evening. Sad to see them go.

Co worker and I had this for lunch today. Not good at all. We both commented that the food was extremely bland. Won’t be back, this was seriously the worst Chinese food that I have ever had.

Everything we ordered for lunch was good. They will keep bringing you food if you want more. So sad that they will be closing.

I came in here to grab something to go, and was pleasantly pleased. Service was quick, and friendly and the food was delish! I had heard great things bout Eastern Empire, but I had never been. I definitely found my place for good chinese take out! :) If I could get my small people to behave better after a period of time, I would bring them here to actually dine in… but Eastern Empire nor my nerves are ready for that!

Have had the Honey Walnut Prawns here three times and love it! Best I’ve had. This dish can be heavy but Eastern Empire’s version is light and fantastic. Also like the chow mein. Haven’t branches out too much since I get the same thing every time! I would like to try their all you can eat buffet since everything is cooked fresh to order!

Shitty service. If you go in for the buffet they purposely ignore you and won’t let you order. We waited 20 mins for each plate and they all came in one by one. Take your business elsewhere.

So I wanted to take my boyfriend here for his birthday. We have been before everything was great. Until this time so we get there the waitress doesn’t even want to really wait on us I guess it was getting late. So we order appetizers and then we order entrees we get ready to order more food and the waitress says ooh at 8:15pm the kitchen will be closed so I’m like damn ok let’s order while we can. So then we get everything and the owner comes to the table and says«your wasting our food you guys are not gonna eat all this food and people are starving around the world and you guys just waste.» I was so shocked and appalled I just got up and left. He had no right to insult us like that. He didn’t know what we are gonna eat or not eat and we were paying. So I will never be returning to the Eastern Empire and I’m sad cuz I like the food there.

This place is great for lunch and dinner. They are open throughout the day. I really enjoy their all you can eat option. Everything is made fresh to order, so it’s not your typical buffet table where all the food just sits there. I definitely recommend the honey walnut prawns, Kung Pao Chicken, Szechuan chicken, and Fish with black bean sauce. For cosmopolitan dinner all you can eat, it comes with salt pepper shrimp. Basically more seafood options. Service is fast and prompt. And the owners are very nice and welcoming. I will definitely return to this establishment.

I decided to visit this place today after grabbing a coffee at Starbucks next door. I had missed the lunch special by 4 minutes by the time I made up my mind, darn. Christina helped me out today. She was a host but also took my order and brought it to me, filled my drinks and cleaned my plate. She was very nice and efficient. The place looks pretty cool inside. They have a nice little bar in addition to a tea bar. They claim to have«the worlds most exotic teas» I was bummed that I didn’t get to try them because I had a full coffee, but next time I will try them. The dining room looked nice, classy furniture and a nice little water fountain in the middle. As far as the food goes, I would say the prices are competitive. It is a sit down place so keep that in mind for price if you plan to takeout. I got the chicken curry. I can’t comment on weather it’s good or not because I didn’t realize what curry seasoning is and I don’t like it from anywhere, here was no exception, I tried to eat it but I didn’t eat much of it. I left with a stomachache but that is absolutely not their fault. The rice was good though. I really like the atmosphere here and the staff is nice. It’s my fault that I ordered something with curry seasoning. Everything else about my visit was excellent. I look forward to coming back to try something else!

Solid service, but such painfully sub-par Americanized Chinese junk. My garlic chicken was drowned in bland, corn starch laden sauce and accompanying vegetables that tasted like they came out of a can. And at their regular pricing, $ 10.80 in this case, it was pretty awful value. No bueno.

I hope you like your Chinese food deep fried… cause damn… that’s what you’ll get. I used to come here before they started the AYCE thing they got going on. Now, I think that’s they’re they’re all about. There is a decent selection of food to choose from, all mostly friend and covered in thick sweet sauces. The Jade fish was good, of course, deep fried. Hot and sour soup here has always been a favorite, so I’m glad that hasn’t changed much. Service is lackluster, very typical. I’m alarmed by the amount of food waste. But for $ 8 or something ridiculous like that you can take your leftovers home.

customer service 5 star: food 1 star = 2 star Honestly, not sure how there is so many positive food reviews for this place. I went with a large group and all you can eat food for 17.95. Mistake! Worst chinese food ever. Why? 1. Everything boiled in grease /oil to such an extent that is all you taste. 2. Chicken, beef, and pork are the lowest quality cuts ever seen at a restaurant. Very fatty with tendons and gross something’s still attached. 3. Salt so high that it becomes the dominant taste along with grease. 4. Vegetables in every dish were undercooked and felt rushed into the entry. Spring roll veg stuffing was raw, vegetables add to all meat dishes was undercooked to the point that it clashed with main meat… not enhanced it. 5. Fried shrimp was all fry with the smallest amount of shrimp possible to justify it as shrimp entry. 7. Wantons were soggy and disgusting to say the least. Whole group could barley eat 2 out of 10 served. 8. Spices and ginger(I think not sure) were once again undercooked in the mangolian beef and other dish to the point it had an aroma that smelled like poo(swear on my life). Goods: Chow mein and fried rice are yummy, desert donuts thingy was amazing, employees great. Hence, not a 1 star review. Overall I would never go back given the high price and low quality of food and prep. Place could do better in the kitchen if they slowed down a bit and focused on cooking rather than speed and quantity(most of my gripe is food prep verses actual ingredients… although food is low quality it could still be yummy if prepared correctly).

Great food but kind of pricey! We only ordered duck wraps and crystal fish and it came out to be around $ 50!!!

Brought my mom and aunt here for lunch when they were visiting, since there isn’t anything similar to this in Fresno. Lunch was a bargain for only $ 12/person. Even with a smaller selection than the dinner menu, they still offer a wide variety of appetizers, soup, and main entrees, including seafood. With dinner priced at $ 18/person, my mom was more than satisfied and happy to save a few dollars for the casino. :) Everything was delicious, prepared fresh, served hot, and came out with good timing(fried rice and chow mein were one of the first entrees served). The fried rice and chow mein both improved on taste since my last visit, especially the fried rice. Service was very good, efficient, and friendly. Restaurant itself and bathroom was clean. Forget those mediocre Chinese buffets and check out Eastern Empire for your AYCE cravings!
