I came here with a group of 16, they were able to accommodate with reservations. The table was ready by the time we got there. Parking is pretty troublesome in this area. Steer parking is hard to find so we mainly go with the garages. We started off with edamame, spicy edamame too. The fried hamachi was great. Sashimi combo was good, not the freshest but it was doable. They have a lot of rolls so they were all safe choices. We tried their strawberry and chocolate mousse for dessert and that was not the business. Otherwise it was a solid spot !

On Sunday, we had a large party of 28 people for a pre-planned dinner at Osaka Sushi. Prior to the event, I met with one of the managers, Camille, who was very friendly and helped with the pre-planning and menu selection. During the dinner, Cynthia and the servers were very efficient and patient, which was much appreciated. Everyone enjoyed their meals which consisted of such dinners items as sesame chicken, chicken teriyaki, tonkatsu, tempura, and numerous sushi rolls – everything was delicious! This is a great place, especially for larger parties. Great job!

We love Osaka Sushi and have been going there for years! My favorite is the Osakamaki roll and maguro sushi. My son will only eat at Osaka because they’re the only ones who make his katsudon right! Anytime someone wants Japanese food, I’m ready to go!

This used to be one of my favorite sushi places in Elk Grove. Unfortunately the quality of the food has gone down hill over the years. I came here for a birthday dinner on Saturday night and the place was empty. A major red flag for a sushi restaurant on a Saturday night! Unfortunately this is a favorite for my fiancé’s family, otherwise I would not be coming back.

I have been going to Osaka for the last 10+ years. Sushi is the best I’ve ever had. I love the steamed veggies too. Prices are reasonable.

Had the seafood tempura, which was average. But, menu indicated that crab was one of the items. Instead, got imitation crab, which is not crab at all. My spouse enjoyed her katsu curry donburi, which she liked, although it was more spicy and less sweet than traditional Japanese curry.

The 3 sushi rolls for the price of 2 rolls is fantastic! I don’t even remember what 3 rolls we got, but I don’t think it matters, all the rolls were great! All were good portions and even the size of the rolls were hearty. Would definitely come back when in the area!

Came back recently and tried my new favorite and go-to roll: The Alaskan. It’s basically an upgraded California roll(using real crab meat) topped with thick-cut fresh salmon, and then topped again with more real crab. The crab is lightly mixed with mayo — so scrumptious! I felt satisfied :) It was so good I ordered a couple Alaskans togo for my family to try. Not being huge sauce eaters too, they loved it. Although my friends still enjoy the Gary roll, it’s a little too saucy IMO. I’m glad I discovered a new treat at Osaka!

I’m unsure what happened here… Flashback to 5 years ago when this place was filled with a lot of energy and smiling customers. I used to come here for dinner quite often; Osaka Sushi was my «go to» sushi restaurant. I followed them from the city of Davis and a few years after they opened up near the UA Theater, their Davis location shut down. I’m curious if it was for the same reason that I will no longer be coming here. The sushi tasted plain and depended on the sauces to create flavor. The produce tasted bitter and the fish tasted of low fishy smell quality. I lost my appetite half way through my meal. Everything still looks the same from when they opened around 8+ years ago — just older and not taken care of. Their décor is in bad need of updating. The boats that go round and round are held up by tape. The wood around the sushi bar is faded. The plastic glass protecting the sushi boats are cracked in many places. The frames are crooked. Even the once beautiful fish schools have diminished along with the special positive energy. There’s many other better Sushi restaurants now. Keep searching on Unilocal

Tried this place for lunch last Saturday. First and only time we have been there. Main dining room was pretty busy but several seats available in the bar area. Very comfortable atmosphere in the bar. Jimmy waited on us and was extremely patient and helpful as we explored the menu enjoying a glass of wine. We start with miso soup which truly was tastier than what you often get in the average Japanese restaurant. Very distinctive, yet not overpowering taste of green onion. Next we ordered salads. They were larger than expected, full of several nice fresh vegetables and served along with a super miso salad dressing. Finally, we order two rolls. We tried the Y2K and the Tiger Roll. They were well presented, large portions, fresh and delicious. Also offered at a fair price.

Came here a few days ago for lunch. I would have really rated this a 3 –½ star. The service was excellent, place looked clean, the sushi was sad though. With that said, I’m coming from Hawaii, which is between Japan to Cali, so maybe getting quality sashimi here is pretty hard. So I understand the logistics of everything. In Hawaii you can find sushi at our local gas/stores. They do have uni there on weekends, and I never had uni for a while, but I’m a little hesitant because it’s such a good price. I’ll do a follow up review when we have their uni.

This review is for their ramen. I loved it. Great broth flavor and there was just enough toppings to enjoy it with. My friend liked it too! Customer service was fabulous. We went a bit early so there wasn’t a lot of waiting time. The atmosphere was peaceful and we took our time to eat without any interference. Two good friends enjoying each other’s company over a bowl of warm delicious ramen. It reminded me a lot of when I used to live in Japan! So I do recommend the ramen here. Will come back when I have a craving again.

When we first moved to Elk Grove some 25 years ago, There weren’t many Japanese Restaurants here in town back then. This was still considered a small town by most folks. Elk Grove has come a long ways in the last 25 years! We have been to many Japanese Restaurants in the Elk Grove area as well as in the Sacramento area.(Osaka Sushi) in South Sacramento is by far the best Japanese Restaurant in the Elk Grove area! Osaka Sushi is located off of Center Parkway in South Sacramento. They are in a busy retail complex sharing the huge parking lot with 24 Hours Fitness and UA Laguna Village 12 movie theater. You will find comfortable seating to your left as you enter. A place you can wait until you are seated our just waiting for your to go order. To the right is a huge sushi bar. I would say there are at least 30 or more seats at the sushi counter! There are a large number of tables and chairs in the main dining area. A perfect place to dine with your family or large groups! The walls are decorated with beautiful Japanese Otsuka Prints. With 2 large televisions in the corner, you can keep-up with all the latest sport scores. My daughters favorite entrée here is their(Sesame Chicken). Chicken breast lightly battered, then deep fried to a golden brown. The batter is still crunchy while the chicken is so moist and delicious! Most restaurant serve a thin piece of chicken breast deep fried with a coating of Japanese bread crumbs.(NOTHERE!) You will be pleasantly surprised as to the amount of delicious Sesame Chicken on your plate! Alright! Left Overs! You haven’t experienced Sesame Chicken until you had it here! Believe Me! It’s(DELICIOUS)! My wife loves their(Negi Maki) with(Salmon Teriyaki). Negi Maki is carrots, green onions, and zucchini rolled in beef and the grilled. They put a dash of red pepper flakes on the(Negi Maki) which gives it a little kick. This is the only restaurant that we know of that offers this entrée. I love their(Chicken Sukiyaki), Clear flour noodles, napa cabbage, carrots, green and yellow onions, spinach, bamboo, mushrooms, and a lot of chicken! This comes in a large hot pot so be extremely careful when handling the pot! The portions are large so I usually have to bring home what I don’t finish. Hands down Osaka Sushi has the best tasting chicken sukiyaki! This restaurant offers more than 30 different sushi rolls. They also have bento boxes, donburi, udon and ramen, dinner entrees, and combination dinners. So the next time you have that(CRAVING) for something Japanese. Make Osaka Sushi your next destination! My wife and I fell in love with this place many years ago, and I’m sure you will too!

Osaka Sushi is a good all around place for sushi and other Japanese food. They have a great selection of rolls with different combinations of ingredients to select from. My favorite is Kevin’s Roll, Gary’s Roll, and Y2K Roll. The sushi looks and tastes fresh. They also have combination dinners where they serve teriyaki chicken, sesame chicken, beef teriyaki, and tempura with rice and small side salad. Entrees of the listed food in the previous sentence is an option. Where’s the noodles you may ask? They have udon and ramen available for purchase. As for alcohol Osaka has beer and sake so bombs away with sake bombs! Osaka has a good amount of seating but a wait is still a possibility. They have a sushi bar available for seating also. You can see three sushi chefs making the rolls. Parking is no issue really since it’s a huge lot and is being shared by other restaurants, gym, and movie theater. Service is above average but it can be slow at times. The servers do enough to get by but it can be improved.

I was craving that«healthy noodle» and wanted to try it from a different place. There aren’t a lot of restaurants that serve it here in EG. TEN-ZARUSOBA($ 10.95) — Japanese cold buckwheat noodles served with a side of tempura and chilled dipping sauce. Subtle nutty flavor, thin, and best freshly made. With the contrast of that warm and crunchy tempura it’s an acquired taste that’s got me hooked. Definitely wasn’t a disappointment here. Staff was quick and friendly. We sat by the sushi bar where the chef also offered his accommodating services. I would’ve loved to have requested a couple of their sushi rolls, especially since they were doing an «Order 2, get 1FREE» deal for lunch. Specialty Rolls: — Y2K — Holiday — Rainbow Roll — Kamikaze — Tak’s Roll — Unaten Next time!

I have been here a few times back in high school with my friends. this is what we called a «fancy dinner» back then. I was nothing close to a foodie back in high school so I couldn’t have fully appreciated Osaka Sushi until today’s visit when my boyfriend took me here for lunch! It was a windy day and I should’ve really gone for a bowl of hot udon or sukiyaki. But for some reason the somen salad was calling my name. I don’t think I’ve actually seen somen on a menu anywhere even though it’s one of my favorite dishes to eat in the summer! So even though it’s a cold noodle dish I just had to try it. And it was well worth it! It comes with a heaping mound of somen noodles, chashu pork, inari strips, green onion, and kamaboko, over shredded lettuce. It was so good that I cleaned the entire plate. I will definitely be back. The sushi rolls are definitely pricey but they have a lunch special where you can buy two rolls and get one free. I’d like to try their udon, sukiyaki and donburi dishes also!

Order to go only take 15 minutes and order ready to pick up. Good foods, if you want no wait for the foods. Daughter interested for the sushi boats bar, maybe next time if we have time. Price on the web cheaper then inside the restaurant, they are claiming different then the other locations. Missing gyozas and miso soup from our order

We live by Osaka but always forget it is there so the other night when I did not want to drive far we headed on over. Now that I think of it, it has been years since I have been there. I use to go very often for dine in or even take out. We arrived on Friday night around 8:00 pm. This place was busy! All walks of life from teens on dates to families to groups or couples like us. We were greeted quickly and advised though it was busy there was no wait for our party size. Once we sat we ordered Sapporo for the Hubby and Lychee flavored Sake for me. Soon our drinks arrived and we placed our order which was: M5 roll, Ebi, Cucumber salad, Fried tofu, and Fried Calamari. When ordering we did question if the M5 had shrimp in the ingredients due to allergies, and our server, Long, informed us it did not. Many of the rolls at Osaka have a fried prawn in the middle. Let’s talk about the prices: Majority of the appetizers are priced pretty low so can order many, but the rolls on the other hand are on the high side. But I guess this provides balance. 1st arrived the fried appetizers. Both were very tasty and lightly breaded but out of the two sauces we enjoyed the sweeter ponzu type sauce, but not sure which item that we served with. Arriving next was the remainder of our food. I did request some sriracha on the side. The cucumber salad was a bit odd; it was served with imitation crab slices. .. no thanks. Before Hubby dove into his M5 roll, I noticed the crab topping on the roll didn’t look like imitation, so I tasted and realized it was real snow crab. UGH, when we asked about the roll we failed to mention this is a shellfish allergy vs. just a shrimp allergy. Our bad! Long was on it though, he replaced the order for a Non-shellfish M5, and made sure hubby did not take a bite of the other roll. He was very accommodating and apologetic. For that 5 Stars on the Customer Service! Hubby killed his new M5 and we were happy. I need to remember Osaka is here because we will be back. Thanks to Long!

We have frequented this establishment for the past dozen years now. What started us going here was . They had coupons to this restaurant back in the day. You could probably say it’s one of my most favorite Japanese restaurants not too far from our home. We have been here to take out, dine in with my HB and me and also for family birthday dinners or special occasions like Father’s Day. My favorite entrée is the negimaki sushi; it is rolled up beef around carrots & zucchini or green onions. I always order that with chicken teriyaki or tempora or salmon teriyaki. I don’t know of any other restaurant that makes the negimaki except their other location downtown but we have yet to make it there! I believe it is located by the IMAX theater downtown as we were told by them when we saw them at Sake Fest last month. I kept going by their table several times that night as they offered great tasting sushi! I know they have a restaurant in Woodland too as we have been there a couple times. My HB’s favorite entrée to eat there is the chicken sukiyaki. They give you a humongous portion that he usually has to take some of it home. He also enjoys the chirashi but yesterday he ordered their infamous sesame chicken. They give you so much to eat that it’s like a double order plus they make the sesame chicken TDF. Normally when we eat there at the restaurant they first give you miso soup to start off. Then your entrée comes in a bento box if you have ordered the combination entrees like I normally do. In the bento box they give you salad that has a light mayo dressing plus spicy bean sprouts on the side with your two entrees. Usually I don’t have room for dessert that at times I can’t even finish my entire entrée unless I want to overly stuff myself! I have had dessert there only a couple times. Mainly it’s ice cream like peach or pumpkin. I remember one time we were celebrating my mother’s and sister’s birthdays as they are less than ten days apart. I had brought a cake from Freeport Bakery and they let us cut it there after dinner. Yum! I can go for that right now! If you haven’t tried Osaka, they serve lunch and dinner but I believe they are closed between 2 – 5 pm. Be sure to check their hours as I don’t want to steer you wrong! Come to this establishment hungry as they do have good size helpings and their food tastes great. Their waiters are laid back that I rarely ever had issues with their service. They do have a sushi area which we rarely sit at unless they are so booked up and that’s the only place to eat. It’s actually entertaining to sit there so one can observe the chefs making sushi in front of you. A delightful way to pass the time. By the way if you can’t miss a sports game they do have several televisions posted strategically in the restaurant. What are you waiting for? I gave this restaurant five stars as it’s our favorite Japanese restaurant that I will continue to come here as long as I am alive! Now I really need to try out their downtown location…

I opted to try Osaka since my girlfriend always rave about its quality. We came here on a Saturday night expecting a crowd. To our surprise, the restaurant was quite empty. The service was nice though as we were seated immediately and our server helped us with all our needs. We ordered fried ika(squid), uni, y2k roll, tiger roll, osaka handroll, and a sesame chicken/tempura combo meal. My first impression was that the chefs has a tendecy to drizzle outrageous amounts of mayo on almost all their dishes. That was kind of weird in my opinion as that isn’t a key trait of well-made sushi. As expected, all the sushi’s quality was quite poor and not fresh. The uni was old. The fried ika was chewy. Most importantly, the seaweed used to wrap all the sushi was CHEWY! However, I must say the skill of making the sushi was there since everything was wrapped and sliced quite nicely! The sesame chicken was fried great but ruined by the quality of the chicken. Overall, it was an average sushi place like no other. The skills are there and their sushi can be greatly improved if more fresh ingredients are used.
