Place was empty and once my food was dropped off no one came back to see if I needed anything. No refills and I sat here waiting. The menu does not tell of all ingredients in a dish. I ordered the dumplings and it said pork and chicken. Had shrimp stuffed in it and I am allergic to seafood. Someone sat behind the bar watching something and then disappeared. Very sad because being pregnant and hungry I was looking forward to dumplings.

As we entered, we waited 5 minutes before being greeted by the hostess/waitress with only one other table being used. I asked the server what she recommend but she was very quiet and Didn’t say much so I stool to the basics Thai food every Thai restaurant should be able to make. The fried rice was bland, beef and broccoli was too salty, & our sampler appetizer arrived close to the end of our dinner and our server rarely cracked a smile. The restaurant is need need of decoration overhaul, it seemed more like a cafeteria environment compared to some of the other Thai restaurants I usually go to. I hope they improve in order to keep up with neighboring Thai restaurants.

Very disappointed with my order this time. Ordered chicken fried rice and what i got wasn’t up to par, seemed more like plain rice than a thai fried rice, no taste, very bland. What happen to the fried rice shown on your menu? All i got was rice chicken 2 slices of cucumber and spring onion garnish. Run out of ingredients or recipe change? Paid $ 25 for 2 serves! This place used to be good but can’t say the same now. Wont recommend to friend.

I took my family here on a Friday afternoon for lunch. My parents are devoted Catholics and were looking forward to some tasty vegetarian dishes in observation of Lent. My mom warned me that she hardly saw people eating here but I decided to give it a try. We were one of two parties dining inside and my mom was right. It was empty and quiet and I’m sure you could hear your voice echo throughout the restaurant if you wanted to. The waitress sat my husband, both my parents, my two children, and myself at a four-top. Uh… ok. I guess she didn’t hear me when I asked for a table for SIX. She laid the menus down and we stood there deciding if we should make it work or just seat ourselves at the adjacent 6-top table. We chose the latter. She didn’t say anything, didn’t smile, and just stared at my dad when he tried to make small talk. We ordered the papaya salad, pad thai with shrimp, salmon, eggplant basil, and sticky rice(for my kids). The food was surprisingly good. I had expected it to be horrible to match the service but I was pleasantly surprised. Our pad thai order was wrong and had chicken instead of shrimp but we just ate around it instead of complaining to the waitress since she was hardly around and didn’t check up on us. The total came out to less than $ 50. Although the food was great, I don’t think we’ll come back again. I hope they hire another waitress or add additional staff.

If the waitress smiled once while we were there, would have a better rating. We got there around 12 noon… this place opens at 11am. There was already a party of about 6 people dinning in, other than that the place was empty. The inside was nice, clean and had nice looking décor; they were also flaring the place up with a Easter theme. We were a party of 6 people, 4 adults and 2 little kids. We all arrived there at the same time and was clearly visible of the amount of people we had in our party. The waitress came to us and asked«four?», we corrected her in stating«6». She led us to a small table where it could fit 2 people comfortably, 4 people if this restaurant was crowded, and just dumb to try to fit 6. We ended up moving ourself to a bigger table. We ordered the green papaya salad, which was good and had a nice spicy kick to it. We also ordered the egg plant basil-mild, which was not too memorable… meaning I know I had better elsewhere. Just knowing that we were probably the second group to come in that day after an hour open, the grumpy waitress was in for a long day.

The worst experience EVER! I had dinner here with my eight and ten year old. We ordered a shrimp appetizer, papaya salad, beef salad, ka soy and a shrimp dish. All the dinner meals ordered was cold and wasn’t tasty at all. My son dinner was the shrimp dish(asked for no veggies) the meal literally came with a bowl of rice and literally 5 shrimp for 15.00WOW! Def not coming back! I don’t mind paying for good food but when the food is gross and you just spent 60.00 for dinner and then have to go pick up something else because my kids and I are not satisfied! NOBUENO!!!

I was somewhat disappointed with my lunch visit. Ordered Tom Ka soup.(Coconut soup). I was advised they did not have enough coconut milk for that meal. My favorite Thai meals contain coconut milk. When we advised we will come back some other time. The waitress then advised there was enough. Although they did try to fulfill my wants. It was evident there was barely any coconut in the soup. Our waitress was preoccupied with texting on her phone that we had to continually ask for our rice and different sauces we asked for. Only saw 2 other patrons at 12:30 in the afternoon. Our other meal orders were quite delicious and full of flavor. I do understand restaurants can run out of supplies but running out of one of its main staple kind of boggles my mind. It wasn’t an all failure, will try again some other time.

I have to say that this place is pretty tasty! I came here a few years ago and had this lemon chicken rice dish and it was delicious ! Last night we decided to come back again and this time I came with my boyfriend. When we first stepped in it was like a hour before they were about close, and there was only us two. The restuarant was really pretty and the waitress we had was really polite. We ordered the green curry and I some kind of eggplant stir fry which I have to say both was so dang good. The curry was sweet and creamy and had a hint of spice. The stir-fry was my favorite though, it was savory as well as creamy! Kind of wish they gave us a bigger portion of rice because we definitely needed more ! The price wasn’t so bad and the wait was not too long. I’m coming back to try some more Thai dishes that’s more authentic!

Meh!!! I have been visiting this restaurant on and off over the years and sadly it has gone down hill. I think the name and ownership changed at some point so I’m not sure if that is the cause of the change or what? But they need to fix things quickly! This past visit I had a groupon worth $ 40 so I wanted to use the complete total and ordered a number of things. Service was great and the food came out timely. I grabbed my two full bags and went home to taste my groupon pickings. My order included; shrimp in blankets, beef Larb, papaya salad Laos style, chicken pad Thai, and Kasoy. I will say that I think I have an understanding of how certain ethnic food should taste Thanks to my diverse friend pool and experience; sadly this crap did not meet the cut!!! Kasoy, the broth was great but why were the flat rice noodles mushy? Papaya, NASTYNASTYNASTY! I guess my papaya needs to come from a tiny water market or someone’s mom because that wasn’t it! I think it was old?! Beef Larb, tasty but a bit dry. Shrimp Blankets, perfect but how can one mess up shrimp in wonton wrappers and fried??? Chicken Pad Thai, I think it was ok; by the time I got to this dish I was so annoyed I had a bite. After this last experience I won’t be back. Sadly the Tom Kha Gai was tasty(a few months ago) but overall it’s not worth the trek across Elk Grove…

Had a wild fun night last night and was in need of some phở! Phở Le next door had a wait time so my friends & I decided to go next door to have kasoy instead. Bad mistake! The kasoy was lacking flavor and did not satisfy our cravings at all. The broth tasted watered down and was very bland. So we asked for the beef flavoring which is just a beef paste to put in our soup. That made it better but not enough for me to finish my bowl. Service wasn’t that great either. There was only one server and upon arriving, no one was by the door or the dining area to greet and seat us. Also, when she came around to refill waters, she only refilled one of ours and didn’t refill my other friends empty cup! Weird. Not sure how their other dishes are but I would not be coming back to try it.

I guess I should have known by the absence of customers at lunch time on a Saturday that this was going to be a bad experience. But in the effort to try new things and against my better judgment, we went into the sea of empty tables and dark corners also known as my Thai basil. We were sat smack dab in the middle of the restaurant and it was so quiet you literally could hear a pin drop. We ordered ice teas without realizing that they charge for refills, not to mention that they add way to much ice. So in reality it is more like ½ an ice tea. So when our spicy meal came we had water instead of refilling our teas for another $ 2.50. My husband got the Sizzling Spicy beef($ 13.50), appetizer combo($ 16), and I got the grilled salmon with side of vegetables($ 14.50). Let me start with the appetizer, WAYOVERPRICED! Not very good and way to many bland fried tofu and literally 1 egg roll cut in half. The only positive thing I can say about the appetizer was the side of cucumber salad it came with was ok but very small. My husbands steak was soooo dry it was more like beef jerky. My salmon was just ok, but I found a few bones which made me paranoid with every bite I took after. By this point, we just wanted to leave and could hardly stomach paying the bill of $ 53.16 plus a tip for this WAYOVERPRICED meal. Needless to say we won’t be back!

What a disappointment! It has been quite a while since I have eaten here. In the past, the name of the restaurant was Thai Basil. The food was pretty good but the prices were a bit expensive. I have been to Thailand over 20 times in the last 11 years so I know what authentic Thai food tastes like. Back then, the food was pretty authentic. However, the name has changed to My Thai Basil, and I am not sure, possibly the ownership has changed too. What brought me here was a groupon and so since it had been a while, decided to try it. When we entered we noticed it was not busy at all and it was 6:30pm. There was one table of four people and another couple at another table. This should have told me something… Well, our server greeted us and as we perused the menu, noticed the prices were very expensive. But, what the heck, let’s order and see how it is… We decided to order a couple of dishes since our groupon was for $ 20.00, which would not go too far. We chose the Shrimp with Crystal Noodles in Clay Pot($ 15) and the Gai-Yang-Takrai Chicken Breast with Lemongrass and Curry($ 13.50). I have to admit the noodle dish was tasty but the portion served in the clay pot was VERYSMALL! I was actually shocked to see how little there was and at $ 15.00! The other chicken dish was not good at all. A single chicken breast, thinly sliced, and hardly any curry taste and the chicken was dry and again, the portion VERYSMALL and costing $ 13.50! The service was average. I am used to eating at chinese restaurants where the portions are 2 – 3 times the size offered here. I think the management better change their prices and offer more food or they won’t be in business too much longer. Very disappointed and definitely will not return even with a groupon and even though I love Thai cuisine.

I ordered the Pad Thai and Red Curry, both with pork. Neither had any real flavor. The Pad Thai had a cheap, store-bought taste and the red curry lacked in spicy flavor. The service was poor, none of the standard questions like«Can I get you anything else?» I did not tip which is rare. I basically had my order taken slowly and the food brought out. That’s it. The Vietnamese place a couple of doors down had a waiting list, I recommend going there instead.

Another groupon deal failed. New management. Basically, I paid $ 24 for $ 40 worth of food. And this place allowed pick-up. One star for the pick-up. Just letting you know, the menu selection is very limited, no crab fried rice, fish and etc. They have chicken and shrimp. I ordered the food total worth of $ 39.40 and when I went to pick-up they said we need to purchase food worth of $ 45. What a rip off owner. At 6 pm, only one table was occupied. Enough said about the place. Not recommending this spot to anyone. If you go, beware if you got those groupon deal. And the eggplant was undercooked.

Use to be one of my favorite Thai places in the area… what happened? I hadn’t been here in about 4 years but I absolutely loved their ‘seafood’ dish. So when out for dinner Friday night, I was telling my girl about this place and how much I loved one of their disher. So with her loving Thai food as well, we decided to go here for here first time. Inside it was just as I remember it, walk in and there was a little bar type area to your left with my main seating to your left, and a smaller area to the far back. It was a quiet night which was good, since I didn’t think it would be a long time to get our food. FOOD: We looked over the menu, and I found the seafood dish that I hadn’t had in forever, my girl got the Pad Thai and yellow curry, and we both got Thai Tea’s for our drink. We noticed that because of the drought, there was the sign you’ve grown to see in area restaurant saying. Water would only be served upon request, so when the waitress took our orders we asked for some water as well. I’m not too sure where they got the water from, but it tasted like dirt! I hadn’t tasted mine yet, when I noticed my girl had only had once sip and didn’t touch here’s anymore… when I tried mine I realized why. I just looked at her after I did, and asked her if her’s tasted by, to which she replied, that was why she wasn’t drinking her’s. And for being busy it took a good while to get our food. I made a comment about it was taking a while when our food finally arrived. My dish looked as I had remember it, expect for thing… where’s was all of the seafood? They seemed to leave that part out, and decided to skimp on the seafood in a SEAFOOD dish. And provide more bell peppers, and onions. NOT what I expected. OVERALL: The Pad Thai was nothing special, their special Seafood dish, lacked the seafood, their water tasted dirty. So I definitely wouldn’t got back anymore, and you’re far better off going to one if the many other Thai restaurants in Sacramento or Elk Grove.

The food was just ok. Some were bland and out of the 5 dishes we had, I only liked one(which is why I put an extra star). The service was really slow. It wasn’t that busy and it still took a while to take our order and get refills on water. We came because of the Groupon deal but I probably won’t go back.

We went around 1PM and there was no one there but us. Super quiet and a bit awkward I’d say. People started coming in slowly about 30 minutes after we did. All the condiment containers or glasses were sticky and icky. Décor was not bad. Layout was awkward, but that didn’t bother us much. So we ordered: — Kasoy(3⁄5) A bit flavorless in my opinion, and there was little ground pork. — Beef drunken noodles *Asked for non-spicy(3.5÷5) I’ve never had«red» sauced drunken noodles before but the flavor was there. — Chicken eggplant stir-fry dish(2.5÷5) LOTS of red looking sauce. A bit sweet and«medium» was quite spicy I’d say. It tasted almost like the dunken noodles — Won-ton soup(0.5÷5) I’m nice enough to even give this soup a 0.5 star. Horrible! A bunch of diced carrots, zucchinis, and napa cabbage thrown into a clear artificial tasting broth with a ton of MSG! Made us thirsty and our tongues itchy. Plus the«won-tons» looked as if they were maybe frozen and thawed? Won-ton filled wraps. Yuck! Stay away!(Only got this dish because my mom was craving a light soup) — Service(1.5÷5) The male waiter was ok and friendly. But after he gave us our food and hid in the corner for five minutes, he disappeared. The female waitress then helped us out a bit, but was a bit awkward and never refilled our water or even asked. Why did only half the menu have prices shown??? Small portions. All in all, if it weren’t for the Groupon coupon we had, we would’ve never gave this place a try. Not authentic Thai food at all. First and last time. 2 stars for effort. Toodles!

Decent Thai food at reasonable prices. I liked the drunken noodles and eggplant with chicken. The papaya salad(Thai style) was a little bland, and didn’t have any fish sauce taste. But I liked how they added the little lime slices. The fried rice was ok, not spectacular, but tasty enough for my kids to devour it. Overall, I’d say the food is good with good portions and decent prices. But there was nothing there that amazed me enough where I would ever crave their food and want to come back.

I have not eaten here but had some to-go food. My sister brought home the klunfin and had warned me the pepper was already mixed in. WRONGMOVE My Thai Basil. Please leave the pepper out of the klungfin mix. It was too spicy for me and I couldn’t altar it since it was mixed in already. They did give a good amount of klungfin, which was nice. I also had their kasoy to-go and it was OK. I felt that it had a distinct taste that I was not familiar with. The shrimp was overcooked. I do intend to eat there at least once to try their other items on the menu.

I’m so disappointed! A few days ago, a friend and I were in the neighborhood and I invited him to go to my favorite Thai restaurant ever. Nobody else does Pad Thai and Pad See Ew as well as this restaurant. The restaurant was pretty empty when we walked in — only around 2 – 3 other tables. We were greeted and seated promptly, and I was excited about introducing my friend to a great Thai restaurant in his new neighborhood. I did notice that the table next to us was full of dirty dishes and glasses that were not cleaned up. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and when I came out, I noticed that the lone server was sitting in the dark secondary dining room, watching a movie or some video on his phone. After a few minutes of waiting around, we stood up and told him we were ready to order. We got the Pad Thai and the Pad See Ew and I was looking forward to a great lunch. When we got the food, I took a bite into the Pad See Ew, fully expecting to experience true Thai yumminess. Instead, I was surprised by how salty and unappetizing it was today. I figured maybe the original cook had the day off or something. Just then, another customer was being seated near us and I overheard her saying, «So is this a new restaurant now? Since you have a ‘MY’ in front of THAIBASIL?» I was like, «What?!» So I quickly looked it up on the best source for restaurant info — Unilocal.True enough, I learned that the ownership had changed. :(The food quality is definitely very different from the original Thai Basil. Everything is just too salty and it just seems like they throw on a bunch of bottled weird-tasting sauce to the noodles. [Fortunately I think there’s still an original Thai Basil in Roseville.] The meal was pretty bad and I really regretted taking my friend there. Even when we left, the table next to us was STILL full of dirty dishes and glasses! You’d think that with a restaurant being so empty, the server would have the time to clean up, but I guess he was too busy watching movies on his cell phone. We should have gone to Osaka Sushi next door instead. But I guess it’s my fault — I should have checked the storefront sign more carefully before walking in. Not going back to this place again.

The old Thai place was called«Thai Basil» and was delishhhh!!! I ate there for years and took all my friends and family there whenever I had out of town guests. The new place is called«My Thai Basil». I ate here once since new ownership took over and will never return. The food is unappetizing. The quality of the food is like day and night compared to what it was when it was called«Thai Basil». Completely different restaurant now. So sorry to say.

I love this place. It’s clean, great service, excellent food. It’s more pricey, but I prefer it over Thai Chili on Elk Grove Blvd. I always get the chow fun, crispy chicken(so moist), curry and fried rice. The atmosphere is very quiet, wish they would have some background music so I can’t hear myself chow down the food lol. Other than that check this place out, it won’t disappoint!

I only stopped by for a Thai Tea before a movie, but it was a good Thai Tea. The good: The place was clean. We walked in about thirty minutes before closing so it was empty, but they greeted us warmly. As it got closer to closing, they did put up all the surrounding chairs but ours. My friend got coconut soup and she enjoyed it. We both liked the Thai Tea. Good to know: Their special menu includes some Laotion dishes like kao soy and kaleng phen. Next time, I will probably try at least one of them. I kind of regret not doing it then. Kaleng phen is a favorite childhood dish of mine, and it was only $ 3. Would I come back? Probably. It’s open later than the sushi place next door, so if I’m hungry and need to kill time before a movie again, I will probably suggest it.

I’m baffled as to why others had a more positive experience than me. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by authentic quality Thai food. Since the change of ownership of the old Thai restaurant, I have not been impressed. The owner said the chef was the same, but apparently the chef has permanent Amnesia. We tried around 7 different dishes, from the Pad Thai to Angel Wings, from Soup to Curry. Everything tasted bland or watered down as if they were trying to save money by sacrificing quality. I’m just glad my friends and I didn’t get sick afterwards which is why I gave 2 stars vs. 1. We were the only ones there and there was an eerie feeling of being isolated. They had 4 people at the front but only 1 was working. I feel sorry for the owner for throwing away his money to buy the place only to run it to the ground. Don’t go here, hopefully they’ll close and a Much Better Restaurant will take it’s place.
