This was our go to sushi place in Elk Grove since they opened. We had not been in since about October. My wife wanted to have sushi for our valentines dinner. I order our normal rolls for a to go order. When we opened up the rolls they were completely different and were not very good. I called to complain and the reason I was given that the rolls had change was they had a new chef. We were really disappointed in the quality of the rolls we got. These were well below what we were used to getting from Kobe. We are now looking for a new go to sushi place, Kobe has lost our business.

The service here is terrible. The only greeting we received were a bunch of eyes staring at us from the staff. No hello at all. Waited a few minutes but still no one came to seat us. Three workers, one of them appeared to be the owner or manager, came over to the front counter but still didn’t say a word to us. Then the hostess told us to give her a minute as she sat two people who were ahead of us down so we took a seat in the waiting room. A couple came in and the manager sat them before us. Of course my initial thoughts were, «wth?» But then he gave us a table right after them so whatever, we’re patient people. It took them a little longer than we would have liked for them to actually take our orders to which we only order two things, a sushi roll and a hibachi entrée. We waited 20 mins for them to bring out one simple sushi roll. The server actually dropped one roll setting the plate down. it was $ 13 for the poorly made sushi roll. I swear even Crazy sushi’s rolls are better than whatever we had. After finishing the sushi though our entrée still hasn’t been brought to us. So we waited. After realizing we’ve been waiting a total of 40 mins for our food which is ridiculous when the place wasn’t even busy, we got up to leave. We informed the manager that we’ve been waiting 40 mins for food that still hasn’t come out and that we wanted a discount for the sushi roll since our server dropped a piece. He didn’t apologize or give us the discount instead he said he took off the price of the salad and soup. Seriously though, the service here is crap and the food might as well be too. Never coming here again and definitely would advise others to not either.

Reservations at 7:10 and at 7:45 we are still waiting. Why take reservations??? The food was really good and the service was fine. Saturday nights are busy everywhere.

This place has the the very worst service I have ever experienced. We love Hibachi Grilled food, and the food was great, once we finally had a chef come to the table. Our table waited 45 minutes, with no service, no soup or salad, nada. It had already been an hour wait to get a table, Saturday night, I get the wait for a table, but then to have us all sit there, three different groups, unreal. The group of three left after first half hour. My husband wanted us to leave and we should have. He had ordered from the kitchen, they brought his meal out before there was even a chef at our table to prepare the rest of the meals. When we asked them why they brought out one person’s meal, they said because it was done. Really? So we asked to speak to the manager. She would not take it back and have a meal timed to go with our meals being prepared. She ignored the request completely. He didn’t eat his meal, had it boxed when we left. When we paid our bill, which they did not even offer a discount or a dessert or any means of saying they were sorry. I let the manager know we would not be back. Sad part is, the chef and the food was great, service just sucked.

Had a very good time here. Went to the all you can eat sushi for lunch, and I was very pleased with the food. Although the food was good our server was terrible. He didn’t know any of the rolls, he was very rude, and kept forgetting about our orders. Stay away from Matt! He’s not that good of a server compared to the others.

Sushi is all you can eat(AYCE), 11−3pm. It’s not self-serve so don’t look for any buffet tables. We’ve done the AYCE sushi the 2 times we’ve been here and I’ve always been disappointed at how everything comes at once. I would think food would be brought out in batches… even for the sake of having cooked food stay warm. But no, we had little plates on our table and it got confusing… which is salmon vs Hamachi vs albacore vs tuna… and who ordered this? Well, you get it. Some specifics: + Miso — Ok. A bit on the salty side. + Forever21 roll — Ok. Fried shrimp was stale. + Sake nigiri — Had 2 pieces. One was really fatty and fresh and the other piece was solid in color and chewy. Not sure if the chewiness had to do with freshness(or lack thereof or if it’s due to the cut). + Sesame chicken — Delicious but would’ve been nice if it came with rice or vegetables. I mean, I wasn’t there drinking at the bar. + Tempura — Probably the best tempura I’ve had recently. It was light, flaky, and wasn’t overcooked… Not a bad place to eat and the AYCE sushi menu is priced pretty well. I’m just bored by the typical fare and lack of standouts. Cooked food can use improvement. It’s served alone with absolutely no sides. It seemed very finger-food-ish. Good for the bar, I suppose. Hibachi dining is also an option. Will have to try that next time.

Recently, my wife and I patronized the Hibachi section but were extremely dissatisfied. I was also concerned with the high flames that the chef created in front of us while cooking our meals — it was much too hot. We also asked for our meal to be cooked medium, but the chef cooked our meat well-done. He also never smiled and was much too serious for a Hibachi cook — from what we’ve experienced in the past. The meal was terrible, so we asked to speak to a manager, but were given the run-around. When the manger finally came he was VERY rude and would not listen to anything we had to say. Also, the chef came out and started cooking before we had been given water or our cocktails. To add insult to injury, when we both used the restrooms and found them to be filthy. In addition, the drinks we received from the bar were much too strong and neither of us were able to finish our drinks. Finally, when we were leaving the waitress told us that her manager said she had to ask for additional tip, since it needed to be shared with the chef — who we really did not want to tip after his poor service. Clearly, we will never go there again. Dave Rojas, San Francisco

Where do I start?! Awesome food, awesome people, atmosphere was great. Very clean and well-maintained resturant. We made a reservation for the Hibachi grill seating we waited about it 10 minutes after our reservation time. We were seated with two other couples one with their children and another couple like ourselves on date night. We are were first timers. Waiter was busy but attentive. Chef was awesome and funny. What more can I say we loved it.

This is a review for the bar. We came on thursday night looking to watch the last basketball game of the night. All the other places in elk grove were packed(in hindsight, Elk Grove sports bar would have been a good place to go to) like BJ’s, Bull Wings, etc. The bar is clean and the manager(i assume) was very friendly and attentive. edamame on the house too! The pitchers were decently priced and I would definitely come again on an off night to try the food.

I went here for the first time because most sushi places close around 2/3pm until dinner. Opted for the all you can eat sushi & everything tasted fresh. I wasn’t amazed with any of the rolls but it was definitely worth the $ 13.95 considering they offer multiple appetizers such as tempura, gyoza, stuffed mushrooms, delicious wakame and so on. They also have nigiri, handrolls & maki as well as a handful of specialty rolls. The portions for each order is perfect.(four pieces of a specialty roll) Service could have been a little better. A waitress walked away from me after I asked if I could order another item. Another waitress arrived to asked if I needed anything, but the first waitress could have informed me instead of ignoring. A bit disappointed that dessert isn’t included. Most places have at least icecream, or fried bananas, but i’ll still be back!

Not sure about the recent poor reviews I read. I sampled at least ten items from the menu and was satisfied and impressed, especially with the A’s special roll. Enjoyed the all you can eat for 14.95 and killed it. Had 3 orders or nagiri, salmon, shrimp, yellow tail, etc. 4 or 5 or the A’s roll. The Hawaiian, the Kobe roll, spicy tuna maki, spicy tuna hand roll, stuffed mushrooms. Wow. Money’s worth.

Been here a few years ago for the lunch all you can eat. This place was mediocre before, but now its horrible. 13.95 for some rice at the sushi lunch all you can eat. The nigiri had huge portions of rice on fish that is super thin. About 2x the rice and ½ the fish of normal places. The tuna was cut so thin the grains had holes in them where you can see the rice underneath. Please take a look at the picture I have posted! Stay away from nigiri. The sushi rolls are mediocre for a buffet. They also don’t have a dragon roll on the sushi buffet menu. Go look someplace else that has sashimi available. The best thing was the salad that came with the miso soup(which nobody ordered, and i didn’t know was coming). We tried to order more salad, but they wanted to charge us 2.50 extra. A tiny salad for 2.50 during the lunch buffet. The service for this buffet is slow, as usual.

I came on Sat, November 28th around 9:30pm and the experience of being ah’ed and woow’ed always exists at hibachi restaurants because of the frills of being cooked a meal right in front of you, but I’ve got to say my visit at Kobe was not the best. Let me start by saying, that me and my friend were the only people in the entire restaurant! Kind of makes you wonder what the catch is that is keeping them from business. Service: Two stars, there were employees around us and the rest of the restaurant just being unproductive because of the fact that no customers were present but it made it seem like we were being almost stared at. I never like the feeling of being pressured to the extent that I need to make order my food promptly or that I’m being stared at while I eat. Quality: One star, the food was really basic. I opted for the chicken and shrimp hibachi with fried rice while my friend got steak and calamari with steamed rice. The fried rice was literally rice, eggs and a little soy sauce(not worth the extra $ 2 substitution). My friends calamari was also cooked in the form of a patty which made us question the freshness/quality of the meat. Ambiance: Two stars, the overall setting of the restaurant was nice and it was a unique experience coming to a hibachi grill restaurant for the first time. I feel like the restaurant from the outside looks kind of dirty most likely would make customers question whether they should eat here or not. All in all, Kobe Steakhouse was actually a pretty big let down in all of the categories. And at the end, we both received checks for $ 30 for probably $ 5 worth of food. Please save your money and go to a more well known hibachi grill restaurant.

Lunch All you Can Eat Sushi! Price was about $ 14. You have to place your order, so it’s not a buffet. There are appetizers, hand rolls, nigiri, and maki rolls you choose from the menu. You also get a small bowl of salad and miso soup. Nice! Each Nigiri order has 2 pieces– good amount of fish, pretty fresh, and not overloaded on rice. Highly recommend the white tuna nigiri. Maki orders come in 4 pieces. Not a huge fan of maki rolls, but the sauces they used were tasty and again good balance of fish and rice. Many All You Can Eat sushi places go heavy on the rice and skimp on the fish, but not here. Tried the stuffed mushroom appetizer, but unimpressed. Basically tempura battered mushroom with crab meat inside. The squid salad was tasty. I Do Not Recommend the hand rolls. Usually they come dressed with some vegetables inside at other places but only fish and rice were thrown together on some seaweed, which tasted a little stale. service was inefficient. If we wanted more sushi, we had to wait for the waitress to come by. It looked like there was only 1 waitress taking orders while there were 3 – 4 others clearing tables and just delivering the sushi in the whole place. They could use another waitress. Once the order was taken sushi didn’t take too long to come to the table. Will come again for the hibachi and or just order a whole bunch in the beginning so I won’t have to wait for my order to be taken.

Had lunch with 2 friends around 11:30′ we were only customer for 2 hours. I had lunch box which was redicluos. Soup: disgusting, not sure what is? Few thin slice mushroom floating in oil water. Salad: 5 pcs of crap, I am serious. Chicken Katsu: 5 thin pcs barely meat at all California roll: only decent item! Goyza: missing even they mention on menu. they lie As my friend she had all you can eat sushi! Oh boy, each time she order it came 80% rice 20% sushi… I won’t mention my other friend meal… Lastly, we paid in cash due to one check. My friend never got her change back!

I use to love eating here. The volcano roll was my favorite, but they change the menu I asked for the original volcano rolls and they told me they didn’t make it that way any more. So I tried the new one. I didn’t like it at all. I will have to look for a new sushi place and roll now.

Today my friend and I took her elderly mother out for lunch! There was a table already started with the cooking show so were seated at the nearby section. For starters I tried the raspberry tea and my friends had their hot tea! The brought out a little salad and soup for us while we waited to order our lunch! We ordered the from the hibachi menu side. You can order different cuts of steaks. So depending on how much you’d like to spend… they have different price points for your budget! I ordered the New York steak and chicken combo with fried rice and vegetables. My friend had the New York steak with steamed rice and vegetables. Her mom had the New York steak and shrimp combo. We all enjoyed our meal. Our chef was super AWESOME about entertaining us with his cooking skills! We absolutely LOVED his fire show. Our food was well seasoned with bursts of flavor! Overall…it did take a little bit of time for the chef to finish his table to come to ours. Yes, the portions aren’t as large as if you ordered from a regular menu type restaurant. However, most restaurants aren’t giving you a show! Our wait staff refilled our drinks and took away dishes on a timely matter. They checked in on us and offered the dessert menu! Everyone here gave us GREAT service today. BTW…the bathroom was SUPER nice. The décor was tastefully done. Love the flowers and plants. Felt homey! They also have regular sit down menu meals. Oooooh! They have All You Can Eat lunch. Aaannnnnd they have sushi. I will be back…

My opinion of this place has changed. With business booming, they have changed their menu and the food they serve! Portions are so small now. The prices also jacked up ridiculously. I used to be able to order hibachi dishes without having to sit at the hibachi grill. Now I can’t. Their regular entrees(not hibachi) no longer comes with both soup and salad. It’s only one or the other. The menu is hard to read as well. Everything looks like it was scribbled onto a bamboo background paper. I am SOOOOOOO disappointed. This went from being my favorite sushi place to the bottom of my list.

I came here today and wow this place’s interior design is amazing. I’m obsessed with interior design and this restaurant really has a sense of style. I really like the design of the bathroom. The thing I don’t like about this place is the booth(tables). Honestly I think the leather seats are too far from the table. It’s hard for me to eat my food while bending my back forward since I have back issues. Even though I’m 5’7″ with long arms it doesn’t help at all. There’s like a huge gap between my food and me. The food and its presentation is great. It’s nice how they serve you with salad and miso soup. It’s refreshing and light. I like the steak and shrimp but the fried rice definitely did not go well with it. I felt sick halfway eating. Also you HAVE to tip the waiter/waitress or else they’ll chase you even if you’re about to leave and keep pestering you. I find this uncomfortable because what if you didn’t like their service but they keep demanding for tips.

I don’t write negative reviews, however I just had too. The waiters was the worst I have ever seen. Everyone’s orders for sushi came out before ours. Even second and third orders. We finally got up and asked for our check after the waiters made eye contact with us and avoided helping us at all cost. When we got our check the mgr(I assumed was the manager) was even worst. So disappointed.
