Not only is it yummy and healthy, there’s salsa on Thursday nights with an amazing teacher. And live music all the time. Friendly staff and cozy décor. Would love to see espresso there(or anywhere in Rosendale) someday!

Stopped by with our vegan daughter after a visit to Woodstock Animal Sanctuary. I had the vegan reuben, which was hearty and really good(and I’m not a vegan). Daughter had the tempeh blt and has been trying to replicate it in our kitchen ever since. The vegan espresso chocolate cake was, well, if you’ve ever tried to make vegan cake it’s something akin to rocket science to get it right, and this cake was amazing. Service was pleasant but slow… don’t expect to zip in and out. Cozy place.

Wonderful easy going atmosphere, pretty place and especially great sandwiches, quesadillas and soups — my favorite is eggplant sandwich with basil pesto, roasted veggies on really delicious gluten free bread and friends loved the brown rice burgers. Soups are delicious — it is actually pescetarian with tuna melts. Staff is warm and helpful, although occassionally in busy times, take awhile to get to the table. Still worth it and parking lot right next to building. Look forward to being there on an evening when musicians are there or Thursday Salsa evenings after 7:30.

Parked in the Rosendale Café parking lot. Went 2 doors down to drop off a bag of goods. Went to the Rosendale café and I ordered the mushroom and cheese quesadilla to go. Went out to my truck and there was a nasty gram from the parking nazis warning me that parking in the Rosendale Café lot was for customers only. Went inside and asked the waitress who put the notice on my windshield and was told to talk to the people in the kitchen. Rather than cause a scene, I left and tried to eat the soggy mess of a quesadilla that was in the to go container. So here’s the food review… take a crap load of cheese and some wet mushrooms, slap it all between 2 tortillas, put it in the microwave, throw it in a plastic container and dump cold salsa on top of it. Voila! Mexican soup. From now on I’ll stick with the public parking lot, the bakery, deli or the tavern in Rosendale. And maybe from now on the folks in the kitchen will spend more time at the grill crisping the tortilla rather than out in the rain putting notes about their precious parking lot on customers windshields… but I doubt it.

I wish this place would move to NYC! We visited the area for the weekend and was very surprised to come across this excellent(mostly) vegetarian/vegan spot. I must admit that my attempts to become a vegan in the last few months failed miserably but I think that if I had this restaurant near me, it would make vegan life a piece of cake. First of all, the soups are amazing. More amazing than most non vegetarian soups I’ve ever had in my life. The root vegetable one was delicious(we came back the next day for more) as well as the African Peanut soup. The Tempeh Reuben — while quite different from a «regular» Reuben — was delicious and very satisfying. Who would have thought? The cold Asian Peanut noodles were really yummy, too. Great place — can you pleeeaase open another location in Manhattan!!!

Such a beautiful restaurant with such delicious vegan options! I couldn’t choose between the Seitan Banh Mi, the Seitan Gyro and the Tempeh Reuben, so the lovely Carrie helped me decide on the Gyro and it was amazing! The seitan is made locally and so much tastier than commercial seitan, and the portions were filling and delicious. Their Japanese Carrot Ginger dressing is delicious as well! And all their cakes are decadent, delicious and vegan — hurrah for vegan cakes!

I love this place! So cute, great patio to sit at and chill. Excellent coffee, teas, and home made sweets! I have had their veggie portobello sandwich twice and I am addicted. Love love love this place. Plus they have stuff going on at night, live music, dancing, etc.

I adore this place. Front, back, inside, out, it is hands down my favorite restaurant in this area. It is funky and casual, with absolutely delicious vegetarian and vegan options, but meat for the carnivores. Outdoor dining is delightful and very laid back. But the absolute best, in my mind, are the nights they host the pub sing… the entire place harmonizes and it makes me believe again that there’s nowhere else as great as this area.

Well done! I have been a patron of this place for years, not a regular by any means and last night I had a slightly disappointing service experience. The food was great as always but service was imperfect and my take out order was wrong. I called to let them know and the manager was apologetic and kind. She took my name and number and offered to buy my next meal there. This morning I got a call from their owner. Similarly she was generous and apologetic and hospitable. No place is perfect, and a real commitment to service is revealed when something goes wrong. Well done folks!

Captures the essence of Rosendale in one great little eatery. Quirky, artsy, friendly and vegetarian. The tofu stroganoff doesn’t make a pretty presentation but it’s a stick to your ribs bowl of comfort.

WOW! My friend is moving to the area so we stopped by for lunch today and I can’t wait to go back. This place has such a cool vibe with super friendly staff and the food is fantastic. I had the FAKIN’ BACONFLT and I was really said when it was gone. The Cole Slaw was equally delicious and I look forward to trying more items from the menu. There are so many meatless and vegan options.

Rosendale Café has become my second home.(No, I haven’t moved to the country; I’m still living in the city, but I’m on, what we’ll call, an extended vacation in Rosendale.) It’s like Cheers, but friendlier and with better food. I’m really all about the Chardonnay. What can I say? I’m a glass of wine, sit at the bar, in a hoodie, looking like a ragamuffin, no fuss kind of girl. In addition to the(nightly) Chardonnay, I’ve also had the Key Lime Pie, which was delicious!(Just thinking about it is making my mouth water a bit.) The service is wonderful; everyone is just so, so friendly. All in all, if you’re in Rosendale or nearby, check this place out! You won’t be disappointed.(Fair warning, though, there’s only wine or beer, so leave your gin-soaked dreams at the door.)

What a neat and delicious place! This vegan was relieved by the amazing options and tasty dishes on the menu. It gets packed later on in the night, so if you’d like a quiet meal, go early. Head later if you want to socialize and enjoy the live music. Personal favorites: Zen Platter; Tempeh Rueben; House Salad.

A vegan/vegetarian café that features a lot of live music in a charming hipster-themed locale. Service is good, but a little slow, and its not the most spic-and-span of places. Keep in mind, this isn’t a place you come to get in, eat and get out. You come here to eat some healthy food, take a break from the hectic pace of life and appreciate some artists performing their chosen craft. They also have chess nights on occasion, though I haven’t been to one in years. The chili is KILLER by the way!

I really loced this location. The good was fresh(picked from the garden fresh). The staff was warm and welcoming and made me feel right at home. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their food. Loved their whole wheat tortilla breakfast burrito.

Rosendale Café serves serviceable, if not particularly inspired vegetarian and vegan food. There are a couple of gems on the menu, though, especially the vegan gyro special that has been turning up lately(please put this on the regular menu!). The tempeh reuben is quite good, too. The quesadilla is a little less tasty, but there’s a nice, big portion for sharing. The beer list is always good. Service can be very slow. Even when the place is empty, it can take a while for staff to bring food, check on drinks, etc. The interior is a bit grungy, with local artists’ work hanging on the walls. There is a little patio outside, which is preferable if the weather is nice. However, you are even more marooned, as far as service is concerned, when dining outside.

Rosendale. What a cute little area to visit. Not too far from my old college so we decided to stop by here for a reasonable meal after a long day. One of my friends is a vegan and one is a vegetarian. So we were kinda limited to where we could eat. We needed a place where everyone had options. Rosedale Café had all of that! I usually don’t eat vegan food, but I’m always open to trying new things. I saw Black Bean Quesadillas and bingo. My favorite. There are some things I cannot say«no» to and that’s quesadillas. I ordered a ½ size and wasn’t sure if that was going to be enough and it definitely was. There was a roasted eggplant black bean special and I got that one. It not only looked healthy but so appetizing! It came with sour cream and the FRESHEST, most delicious salsa I’ve ever had. Hands down. The waitress(who was incredibly helpful and friendly) said they made it probably 10 minutes ago. Yum. The salsa was chock full their homemade sauce, japalenos, tomatoes, onion, cilantro, etc. I could have ate that by itself. They brought out water for us in mason jars(how cute is that?!) and it was such a cozy place to dine. I recommend this place to everyone! Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, carnivore or just have special dieting restrictions… there will be something delicious for you to eat here.
