Like the previous review, we fell in love with the Gilt Edge at first sight and there has never been a time we haven’t admired one of the many paitings on display. We recently purchased our very first original painting by a local artist and are absolutely happy! Lesley has impeccable taste and gave us very good advise on how to better display the artwork at our house and it really worked. Lesley is very knowledgeable and passionate about her job and a true the protector of artists. This little hidden gem made me think of one of the many art galeries in Montmartre.

I think Leslie has framed every picture in our house and we have taken her some doozies. The biggest was a huge patchwork skirt that has a rich historical background. Leslie was able to direct me to the experts for cleaning and mounting the skirt, then she framed it and directed me to the experts that could hang it down my staircase wall. She has a very good eye not just for the work or art, but also for the location and ambiance upon which it will hang and makes recommendations accordingly. I wouldn’t take my precious artwork anywhere else.

The owners are great and very helpful! The paintings are beautiful and they really know how to frame a picture.

«…since I met you baby, love’s got a hold on me It’s got a hold on me now, I can’t let go of you baby I fooled around and fell in love …I fell in love, I fell in love, yes I did…» — Elvin Bischop I fooled around and fell in love today. I was on my way to T J Maxx on the PV Hill to return my new tan cowboy boots cuz I found those suckers in red at a different location. Red, baby, red leather cowboy boots… But that’s another story. I walk past Gilt Edge gallery every time I go to to my fave T J Maxx. And there’s never been a time when at least one painting in their window didn’t command my attention. This gallery has beautiful original work, mainly oil paintings, and much of it is blazing with color. Just the way like it. My dad, the artist, loved bold color & taught me as a child to use and appreciate color. So today, there was this painting, about 4×3 feet, inside the front door of Gilt Edge. It’s a landscape, a bargain at around $ 2100 framed. Oh the color. It could be an abstract scene of the Palos Verdes shoreline as seen from Del Cerro Park area. It could be many places. I fell in love with the vibrant movement, the energy of that work. Almost no color was spared in the brilliant composition. It’s a painting that says and does it all, if you know what I mean… It brought me to life, it spoke of life, so perfect and precious. I had to step inside the store for a closer look. In order to do so, I had to cross over a horse shoe imbedded in the sidewalk. I assume that’s for good luck, works for me. The proprietor showed me around a little, and I saw lots of paintings of local scenes, first-rate stuff. Also figure paintings, flowers(as opposed to «florals»), and various other subject matter. Gilt Edge contains a full-service frame shop as well as the gallery. And it gets even better: there are two museum restorers on staff. They work with oil paintings only, from the 15th-16th centuries forward. They are full museum restorers of such paintings, as well as the original frames. I didn’t buy the painting I love, yet, but I’ll be dreamin’ about it. That horse shoe brought me luck: I fooled around and fell in love… on this beautiful day, at the top of the world.
