Decent enough food if you just want to fill your belly! I gave it an extra star for its Valentine’s weekend décor. Little paper hearts were taped on the window and balloons and carnations rested at the center of each table. I found these extra homemade touches adorable and examples of the authenticity of the restaurant. Once you sit down, you get a basket of chips, pico de gallo and a thin salsa that definitely has some kick to it. We ordered guacamole. It was okay. It wasn’t fresh made and was very lime-infused and a bit runny. My husband and I consume guacamole like our lives depend on it and(for the first time ever) couldn’t finish this particular guac due to taste. The vegetable chimichanga and carne asada chimichanga were our orders. They were both all right. The deep fried crust was delicate and good. The insides tasted fresh but had little pizazz and spice as one would expect of a Mexican dish. I poured some pico and salsa(that came with the chips) on mine to make it more enjoyable. Neither of us felt inclined to finish them. It was decent food if you’re hungry, but coming from someone who tries as many different Mexican restaurants as possible, I wouldn’t recommend this to my friends or family and I won’t be returning. The atmosphere and service was nice, though.

Had a great dinner with friends. Loved the food, service, and Margaritas. I hadn’t eaten here before but will be back.

The chips are pretty generic, the salsa is so spicy and runny. On the upside they bring pico de gallo. The service was pretty good, it took a little longer than I expected to dine here. I’ve been to their Santa Rosa location of Farmers Avenue and they were pretty decent. I love how large their menu is & how they have adjacent pictures to what you’re ordering. The only downside is the price, it cost me $ 20 for a chimichanga & guacamole. A little pricey. The Guacamole needs a lot of work, they need to add some peppers, & some lime or lemon to make it work. Unfortunately their my used neither, it only had tomato. It tasted pretty bland but it was cheap so I ultimately can’t complain. The chimichanga was to die for, I ordered mine with Carnitas. It was great! I was disappointed they put the cheese on top of the chimichanga, it seemed bizarre to me. They also added the sour cream and the guacamole on top even though I asked for it on the side. Typical chimichangas have cheese on the inside. Nevertheless, it was delicious. I might return, I just wish their pricing was more attractive. Their inside needs a «facelift”/ remodel. They have two doors to enter or exit from. It’s a little confusing where the hosting station is located at.

This place surprised me! With all of the taqueria’s around, I never thought about trying this until I wanted to mix it up today. Man was that a great idea! The carnitas burrito was fantastic, and the lettuce inside was a nice surprise! The chips and salsa was absolutely superb, which is usually hit or miss with taquerias. I will definitely be coming back to try the tacos! Good customer service as well.

Who knew such a tasty great place was right here in my backyard? Great tasting Chimichanga with a wonderful mix of light and dark meat, paired with THEBEST refried beans I’ve ever had in my life. I also tasted my friends dish of Camarones al mojo de ajo, wow, getting that next time! El Charro will rock your world. It sits in an out of the way place, but don’t let that fool you. For some of the best yummy Mexican food, stop into this little out of the way place and prepare to have your taste buds rejoice. Oh and the service was superb! Heartily can give this place 5 stars.

We stopped here for the first time on our way to Graton. We were not disappointed! The food was delicious and the service was very friendly. Good chips, salsa, refried beans, and rice. I was surprised that they were not busier on a Saturday night. We will be back for sure!

This restaurant was amazing! I usually don’t go to mexican restaurants since I’m mexican, and I think it’s very hard to find authentic mexican restaurants, but this place was the exception. That food was great! My husband and I had the Charro appetizer and the chimichanga with carnitas, i really recommend these dishes. Try this place you won’t regret it!

Not gonna judge too harsh. I’ve had really good Mexican food and this isn’t it. Simple as that. For this to be one of the top in the area must mean there isn’t really much competition out here. The food wasn’t terrible but I wasn’t 4.5 stars either. They came out with chips and salsa, but the chips were some of the worst I’ve had in a restaurant(but hey… It was free and they are chips). Usually when they put those out, even if I’m not hungry I still polish them off. We ate most and then they refilled the chips before we finished. But we didn’t touch another one after that. I would have liked at least one refill, but they never really checked in on us. If you’re looking for a place to eat may just wanna stick to a chain restaurant out here. It was decent food but I probably won’t go back.

I love this place! They have amazing salsa, my hubs loves the wet burrito, and their enchilada suiza is soooo good. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Another favorite is the taco salad.

Both El Charro locations offer the best Mexican food in the area. If there is a better Mexican restaurant in the North Bay, we haven’t found it. And believe me, my whole family has tried! Almost always I order the soft chicken tacos. Other family members order the chicken burrito supreme, the cheese and/or chicken enchiladas, and of course, their shrimp cocktails.(Warning, the tacos here are the small ones, not the larger ones you find at American-Mexican restaurants.) Everything is very consistent in terms of food quality. And they don’t hire lazy staff here either! The restaurant is very clean, and the staff is always moving — refilling drinks, bringing salsas and food. And best of all, they act like they’re so glad you’re there! If you’re in the mood for Mexican, I recommend you try this restaurant. It’s a very good place for sit down or take out Mexican food! PS: If you’re in a hurry and/or are from Santa Rosa, try their other location off Farmer’s Lane, or maybe try El Favorito on Sebastopol Rd. for a drive thru that offers amazing Mexican food. Olè!

Not bad, not spectacular. Pluses: EXCEPTIONAL service, good menu, includes empanadas and pupusas, full bar with reasonable prices. Minuses: only will speak for the fajita salad – drab. Middle of summer with pale tomatoes? Hmm. Salsas that come with the chips are good, particularly the smoky chili one. Might come back to try something else in future, just for the bar and service alone ;)

What a delicious little place. Not many places in RP that serve Mexican food have full bars like this place. They are just right off Commerce Blvd. Their friendly staff makes solid Margaritas. Food is 4 star quality and the service deserves a 5!!! They have 2 different salsas that they serve with their homemade chips. If you like your food hot, ask for the special Habenero salsa in the back!

This place is much nicer and larger than it appears from the outside. It’s in a tiny strip mall in Rohnert Park, which is the strip mall capital of the world. So this place is pretty easy to miss. I stumbled on it after visiting the Allstate office a block away. The food is fine. As in adequate. It’s nothing super special or anything that I haven’t had a million times in Sonoma County before. I had the chilaquiles and asked for my eggs over medium and they came over hard(yokes completely cooked). The rice was tasty, if dry. Same with the refried beans. The table chips were good(served warm, which I love) and came with both salsa and pico de gallo. I also ordered a side of guacamole, which was the best thing I ate there. Total for chilaquiles and small guacamole(with free chips and salsa) was $ 12.50. The meal itself was three star, but I’m adding an additional star for excellent and friendly service and a very clean restaurant. If I lived close by, I’d probably go back at some point, but I live 20 miles north, and there are a dozen Mexican places between there and here that serve food that’s not just fine, but outstanding.

I eat tacos on the regular and while I may not be an expert tacoist, I can confidently say that El Charro serves some excellent tacos. We came at that magic hour between lunch and dinner when we were the only people there except for a woman picking up a to go order. We didn’t let the lack of bodies deter us from enjoying a quick meal before visiting our favorite bottle shop, Beercraft, for some tasty brews. While I normally stick to two tacos I was feeling extra audacious and hungry and opted for three. I always save the al pastor for last because it’s my favorite and I am superstitious like that. I enjoyed the grilled chicken, carnitas, and al pastor-all were very well done, on excellent tortillas, with all the fixins too boot. Can I still applaud the attentive service even though we were the only patrons at the time? I think so. Very friendly and welcoming waitress who seemed invested in our enjoyment of the food. Looking forward to studying the rest of their huge menu further, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I stuck to their delicious tacos.
