We had a very positive experience at this bar, until after we paid off our tab and more than generous tip. They barely offered the bare minimum as far as what is generally offered at a tri state area establishment(we are generally expected to tip more than the rest of our region even with sub-par service). The most disturbing part of our experience is how we were mistreated after a person in our party of African descent joined our group. I never write Unilocal reviews, especially anything critical, HOWEVERITIS UNACCEPTABLE how poorly we were treated as paying customers especially after generously tipping, after the bartender noticed we were a group predominantly comprised of women of color. In 2016, I am writing this review as a mixed race female of Latina and Asian descent from NYC. I have experienced a lot of prejudice on my behalf, but am able to appreciate and understand the struggle of New Yorkers in similar and equivalent situations, but it is severely disappointing to realize that thriving businesses are allowed to get away with the racist attitude we experienced today.

BESTGUINNESSINNEWYORK. Come here and experience what Rockaway is all about. The crowd is always friendly and the bartenders are kind. If Brendan can’t solve your midlife crisis, then no one can.

Classic place in Rockaway with a crowd that is edgy, fun and so Rockaway, Great place to unwind with a Guinness and watch a game and the characters at the bar. The music available is the best I have ever seen at a bar with no Rap crap.

I had the pleasure of visiting this place with a handful of friends when we traveled there from SoCal a couple of years back. We couldn’t help but keep coming back. Just might be might favorite Irish Pub in The States!

Overview: Great staff, cheap drinks … Not far from the beach. Drinks: We were here only briefly but managed to get a few drinks for not too much. Good drinks, nothing special but full of great charm. Atmosphere: Great dive bar, my gf and I definitely stuck out but the staff was kind and accommodating. I highly recommend stoping by this place if you are going to the beach!

Brendan pours a perfect pint of Guiness. What more is there to say… Awesome bar, full of friendly people. Generally an older crowd. I’ll be back for sure.

Very cheap dive bar. Hit the trifecta last time, beers were $ 2.75 for Bud bottles(and a buy back after 2) and we found the jukebox having about 12 free songs left on it. I suppose the third best thing was meeting an old Irish dude who kept shaking my hand, but not sure if that was a highlight or not.

Two jukeboxes, both loaded with the good, old stuff, one of which plays 45s? Check. Friendly but no-nonsense heavily-accented bartender? Check. «No Sniveling» sign? Check. Heck, and they even have Anchor Steam on draft.

If you find yourself in the Rockaways, then step into this dive bar. Locals hang out, watch sports on the tube and listen to Bob Dylan and Van Morrison over a pint of Guinness. Across the street from the A train 116 street train station.
