Stopped in for dinner with some friends, seated quickly and drink order taken quickly. Food was pretty good, most of the Asian food seemed fresh and was rotated quickly and the grill was cooking fresh food for those who did not want the buffet. The fruit pieces were great, the American food section(pizza, rolls, hot dogs) did not look good but I never get why Asian places have that section there in the first place. Bill was $ 47.00 for(4) of us so price was ok, and it was clean, will go back, nothing really great, but nothing really bad either.

The price was reasonable like most of buffet restaurants. There were a variety of food the I could not find at any other buffet res, especially sea food. What I dislike is that there were times that I had to wait almost 30 mins before someone re-filled the food I like at the food trays.

I dont know how this is a popular place. The food was cold and they just opened. The low mein and fried rice were so plain I went back up just to get steamed rice. The food was not the good and to top it all off the manager came to my table took the pineapple with rice off and put it back on the buffet!!! Apparently your not supposed to take the whole thing but there are NO signs saying so. I will NEVER go back there again. Who knows how many times theyve done that! I didnt eat ANYTHING after she did that. Oh and my sesame chicken tasted like fish!

Not sure how I feel about here maybe I’ll need to return again to give it another shot. food was good and there is a good selection. hubby didn’t like it here. waitress was slow to come and take drink order and not on her game for refills… it was over priced in my opinion but then again we visited at dinner time on the weekend, so I’m sure it played a big factor. Staff here seemed miserable as the woman working here kept rolling her eyes at a table of annoying out of control children. but then again they were out of control and quite bothersome… I guess maybe we will try to return again soon but the first impression didn’t blow me away

Even I’m Chinese, that place is HORRIBLE and the staffs are miserable, ask for chopsticks, that guy server said NO, they don’t have it! But after a while, I saw another customer asked, a girl server gave it to him. I was like wth! Food and drinks: Most food are over salted, the hibachi food, we chose garlic sauce, but it seems like only have soy sauce in it and my shrimps are under cooked, still HALFRAW! We ordered two regular bubble tea, tastes like powder milk or cheap protein shake which they overcharged us. The menu said it’s $ 2.5 each for Large, but when the bill comes, it’s $ 3.5 each. The owner first claims they haven’t updated the menu, then tried to say bubbles is a dollar extra. Also we ordered two hot tea because the bubble teas are so DISGUSTING, ended up cost us $ 3 more which they’ve never mentioned. To be concluded, we feel like it’s a RIPOFF and will NEVERCOMEBACK. The way they do business is so dishonest and the food quality is disgusting, hope we don’t get stomachache. What a $ 30 waste on lunch, should be not given them any tips(no service at all, it’s buffet) but we still gave them $ 2 as a courtesy. The first and only visit!!! They should deserve NOSTAR at all!!!

Not bad at all. It was reasonably priced and as with most buffet style restaurants I like to play it safe with my selections. I had French fries, Mac N Cheese, General Tsaos Chicken and the Beef w/Broccoli. It was all very good and definitely didn’t taste like they rushed to get the food out. While I chose to play it safe and not explore the huge variety they had you might now. They had Oysters, Crawfish, made to order dishes and a number of other dishes to choose from so I truly believe there was something there for everyone including a number of vegetarian friendly dishes. The restaurant itself was very clean and nicely decorated as was the restroom. I would recommend this place for large groups or small groups because like I said before there were so many options. Cheers.

For starters, I only gave this place an extra star because for the longest time I thought it was the best Chinese buffet in Rochester. I mean I used to rave home to my friends, and family about this place. WHAT A SHAME on how the quality of the food has gone down-hill dramatically. For starters the service is the same as you would expect from any Chinese Buffet you walk into, so that stayed consistent at least. The environment of the place is falling apart, very fancy light fixtures and chandeliers just broken, with a majority of the lights missing. The once beautiful fountain, rusted with many lights out. SUSHI: I started the food portion like I usually do there, by going right to the Sushi Bar. Only problem, there was NOFISH in ANY of the Sushi. Most you would get would be imitation crab meat, or vegetable rolls. Once a upon a time, the Sushi Bar was what it was known for(amazing salmon and eel rolls). HIBACHI: Next I went to the Hibachi station, once filled with steak and other meat choices. Now the only thing I saw there was pans littered with vegetables, with ONE pan of chicken. ENOUGH with the vegetables already! CHINESEFOOD: On to the hot food station, where it just keeps going downhill. My favorite Coconut Shrimp was mealy, and no flavor. In fact I could categorize the Chicken Broccoli, Pepper Steak, Eggs Rolls, and Mongolian Beef all into one category… DRY, PASTY, OVER-COOKED, LACK of FLAVOR, Lack of Ingredients, and Lack of Seasoning. I really did not find one thing I liked, and this place USED to be the best. I notified the owner of how downhill the quality of food was, and how guests remember experiences like these. I told her too look around at the place which was always packed now dead on a Saturday night! The owner recognized these problems, but you could tell she was powerless to do anything about it. So sad to see this once glorified buffet turn into ashes. I WONTBEBACK here ever again, even if it did only cost me $ 12.00!!!

Christmas Day late afternoon. Higher holiday pricing. Definitely not justified. Same old, same old. Some dishes empty or near empty. Going downhill. This long time, regular customer will be giving Hibachi a pass.

I decided to try this restaurant because it had a 10% off coupon on Unilocal. I was seated promptly. It has a huge dining area and a large buffet. Typical Asian food with typical flavor. So I finished my meal and went up to the counter to pay. I showed the woman my Unilocal coupon 10% off on my phone and she was very hesitant to giving me the 86 cents off my meal. really!!! We went back and forth(it’s just 86 cents) and I said never mind. But then she did give me the discount…

This was a pretty nasty experience on my second time here, on a weekend night. There were homeless looking people standing next to the seafood trays and eating the food with their hands right out of the trays. Let’s get some kind of surveillance or sanitary control here. Will never come back. Yuck.

I think this is one of the better Asian buffets that I’ve been to in ROC. It’s great for big groups, picky eaters, and kids because there’s something for everyone. Hibachi Sushi Buffet has a large selection of seafood dishes including clams, mussels, crab legs, shrimp, crawfish, sushi rolls, and other types of fish. They also have a hibachi station where you pick your fixings and sauce and they cook it for you. The servers came around and kept our table clear and glasses topped off. Buffets are good for a novice who wants to try a little bit of everything and venture safely outside of their comfort zone to try Americanized Asian food. Dinner is about $ 15 per person so bring your appetite and stretchy pants.

It’s a buffet… Compare to other buffets in Rochester or even the ones in my hometown, it wasn’t that great. The waiter was not friendly at all… The foods was cold. Maybe next time will be better

Over the years since I was very little, my family scouts out the new Chinese/Asian style restaurants in Rochester. Many have been burns. A few have been rather enjoyable. This has been one of the enjoyable ones. Located in Southtown Plaza off of Jefferson Rd, this is located further down near Price Rite, Jenny Craig(ironic), planet fitness. Upon entering, you will notice a fairly ornate wall pattern and some chandeliers. A fountain with goldfish is in the center of the restaurant. There are two main sides to the buffet, one flanking each end of the sushi/hibachi grill towards the middle. One side is mainly fried stuff and the other has the more traditional Chinese food. I come here mainly for the hibachi. I have never experienced the hibachi grill items being unfresh. I usually have them cook it without any sauces or seasonings. So yes, you CAN actually eat healthy at a Chinese restaurant! They have rice noodles, regular lo mein noodles, white rice, various vegetables, squash, pineapple, eggs, chicken, beef, pork, and shrimp. You can definitely make something out of that! Of course, they have the standards by which common Chinese buffets are set: sesame chicken, hot & sour soup, wonton soup, chicken and broccoli, peanut butter chicken, lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, egg rolls, etc. etc. There is also a fruit/salad/dessert station. It’s a long buffet table with various pre-cut fruits, some iceburg lettuce based salads, fruit salad, and various baked sweet goods. They look like small tarts/pastries or sheet cakes cut into smaller pieces. The fruit selection varies sometimes, but you usually expect the grapes, honeydew, cantaloupe, apple slices, and pineapple. Sometimes the pineapple is fresh, other times canned. The service is pretty good. I haven’t had too many issues and they’re pretty good at keeping the plates circulating off my table and refilling my glass. Prices are reasonable as well. I would suggest giving this place a try, as it really is(in my opinion) the best Chinese restaurant in the Rochester area, mainly because they have better service than most other similar restaurants and they have a good hibachi service and can make the foods to your liking. 4⁄5 stars.

3.5 stars to be honest! This place is really not bad but I would highly recommend going at the lunch time because the price is lower(RIT students ONLY get a student discount!). The have a large variety on food! While the restaurant is called Hibachi and Sushi they also have a large variety of Chinese food. The reason I would recommend this restaurant because of option it has. Since if offers hibachi, sushi and Chinese at a reasonable price! The hibachi is a where customers can make rices dishes/noodles dish or just meat dishes with their own preference of ingredients. This is nice because it many people have their own like and dislikes. The hibachi is not bad but it can get a little greasy. I’ve been to a other Hibachi restaurants and this one is by far the least impressive when it comes to the entrainment. Don’t expect one because it is a buffet and their are other people waiting. The sushi selection is only a small area and is not the fresh sushi that I had in Rochester! They make some of the tradition rolls but their are different one as well. I usually like the raw salmon.

3.5 Stars. Warning — I’m kind of judgemental, as I’m from NYC. I’ve been here a few times for dinner and I got lunch take out a lot when I was working in the area(great prices, totally worth it by the way). The food is standard cheap Chinese buffet fare, and a lot of it is greasy, delicious, and hearty. However, I’m kind of disappointed with the quality of the seafood dishes, as they tended to be heavy on the imitation crab. I would recommend you give this place a try for lunch, as the price is good and you can try many different things before you have to pay full price for dinner.

I went at a lunch special hour which offers $ 3.99/lbs only on hot food bar items. Food tastes good, but not outstanding. Didn’t check out the sushi bar. They do have an ice cream bar and some sort of desserts. An okay place to get cheap and decent Chinese food.

Hibachi. Sushi. Buffet. Zero stars for name creativity. A solid three stars for everything else. I’ve visited a shit ton of buffets in my lifetime, from Old Country Buffet to Four Seasons — Boston(can you say all-you-can-eat lobster tails?), and I must say, Hibachi Sushi Buffet is fine. It’s clean, the service is nice, attentive, and fluent in English, the décor is bright and fabulously gaudy, and the price is right($ 11.99 + drinks). As for the food, nothing is exceptional, but if you come to a $ 12 Chinese buffet in Southtown expecting a life-changing food experience… you might be a red neck. Jeff Foxworthy. Although the selection isn’t as big as Super Grand Buffet(I searched far and wide for the pig hooves), the food is turned over a lot faster, which results in much fresher items. Moreover, because there are actual Asian people eating here, the novel items(things with head or bones) that would normally be sitting around for a while are still hotter and newer than the majority of the dishes at SGB. The grilled mackerel was very good(I consumed six fish — Holy Mackerel!), as were the head-on salt-and-pepper shrimp. The crawfish, though obviously not fresh from the swamp, were well-seasoned and not overcooked due to the above mentioned quick turnover. I sucked crawfish brain like there was no tomorrow. The crab legs weren’t boiled to death, nor were the clams. I didn’t try the sushi because it looked like it had been sitting around for a while. My parents both had stuff cooked for them on the hibachi and they were both pleased with the results. The shrimp dim sum were almost as good as the ones at Wegmans and the Chinese American chicken wings were salty, crispy, and juicy. The salmon was dry, but what do you expect from steam tray salmon? The bacon-wrapped imitation crabmeat was weird and addictive. I also enjoyed the warm taro bubble tea; it’s the perfect beverage(aside from mulled cider) to warm your soul on a rainy autumn night. As you can tell, I ate mostly seafood. I think, subconsciously, I tend to challenge shady Chinese buffets to give me food poisoning by eating the most questionable items available, just so I can write a funny review the next day, filled with poop jokes and such. Hibachi Sushi Buffet did not give me food poisoning, however, and the result is this boring review in which the only negative thing I can comment on is the stupid name.
