It was pretty good pizza. Good, not great. I really liked their two slices of pizza and a pop deal for ~6.50.

I had never seen eggplant as a pizza topping before, so I was curious about trying it out. It is amazing! freshly fried/breaded eggplant on a big cheese pizza. I can’t comment on other menu items since I only got a take-out pizza, but I was happy with the food and the price. I noticed while waiting that the italian ice size/price combinations were a little suspect, as another reviewer noted. I will return :-)

First time to Richmond and was aching for something Italian. I was tipped off by my Über to make a visit for the pizza. I chose to follow his suggestion and was delightfully surprised! The pizza was on point but I have to rave about the ravioli I splurged on because I was starving. I highly recommend making a visit for the same!

What a great family restaurant! The pasta is savory and the sauce is amazing. The pizza I can say is certainly authentic Sicilian pizza!

Great food, great pizza and superb service. I have been here a couple of times on weekends and have not been disappointed. The staff cannot be any friendlier. The restaurant is extremely clean. If you like New York pizza, this is the place. The calzones are amazing.

I live near Vinny’s, and used to go there on a regular basis. Now I just do take out once in a while, but not sure I would do so again. The food is ok, but I find it irritating that they never say«thank you» when you pick up your order. What ever happened to appreciating your customers?

Prices are great! Food used to be really awesome! Pizza and wings here are really great!!! I’ve been going here 8+ years and today was nothing like my previous experience. They must have changed cooks and/or owners. The hot wings tastes like they had been soaked in grease. Literally, no flavor at all. When I called back to let them know, no one answered. If you go here, stay away from the wings!

We did take out from here. Would definitely order again. Pastas were all solid. Penne a la vodka and baked spaghetti were delicious. Chicken was the only menu item that was below average.

A good«go to» choice for a quick, casual bite to eat. My family and I go here often when we visit Richmond. The staff is friendly, and the service is usually really good. On my last visit we tried fried ravioli(tasty!), and shared two large pizzas. That was enough to feed 6 big eaters. There were a few glitches with drink orders. First, they were somehow completely out of iced tea, and we had to wait while they brewed some. When it came, they had clearly made a small batch in a pot previously used to brew coffee. It tasted off. When refills came they were actually iced coffee, which was an unexpected surprise to my kids! Quite a shock to the tastebuds. The server was apologetic, and quickly replaced them. They have the best pizza crust I have ever had. Period. Their pizza crust alone is worth the visit. Salads are usually fresh an yummy. So all in all, not fancy or haute cuisine, but a great neighborhood place for pizza, etc.

Even though the food and service is good, there are some things about Vinny’s that I do have to complain about. The pizza is average, not my favorite, and many things are boring. Chips that they offer as sides are so salty that they aren’t even enjoyable. After constantly coming here, I really got tired of this place. I’ll be back, but just if I want a quick bite of food.

Okay I have to complain as much as I love this place I just have to. I have to do it because this is the second time that this is happened to me. I come here because they do have really good food. I also come here because of the Italian ice. I usually get a medium cup which is three dollars. Well today I decided to get the large cup which is $ 5.75 because I love the Italian ice so much and to my disappointment but large cup which I paid $ 2.75 more for have less Italian ice than the three dollar when I got the other day. 100% for the amount that I got today for $ 5.75 was not worth it.

My better half and I half-jokingly ended up here for dinner on Valentine’s Day after failing to get a table at Malabar next door, and were pleasantly surprised! We decided to try the fried calamari appetizer, Greek salad, and a small supreme pizza. We received a very generous serving of calamari for the price, and it was okay(not greasy, but a bit chewy and not the freshest). It came with lemon wedges and a thoroughly unmemorable marinara sauce for dipping. The«Greek» salad arrived with Italian dressing on the side(huh?). It was also a generous size for the price, covered with what seemed to be good-quality imported feta, and although I would have preferred, you know, GREEK dressing, the Italian was obviously homemade and delicious. We dithered about what size pizza to order, but the six-slice, 12″ small was more than enough. This was the closest to New York style I’ve had in RVA, where decent thin-crust pizza is almost nowhere to be found. Vinny’s pizza was solidly above average, and the lovely crust was absolutely the best part. If they rolled it twice as thin and didn’t overload it with sauce and toppings, I would be a regular here. Our waitress was friendly and attentive but took a while to remove dirty dishware from our table, which made for some awkward juggling. The décor is nothing to write home about, as others have mentioned, but I kind of dig the cheesy checkered tablecloths for a casual Italian-American meal. Warning: there are a couple huge TVs around. Ugh. Why can’t it be enough to focus on one’s food and dining companions during a meal?

This is a great low key local Italian spot for lunch or a quick pizza with the kids. I usually get a sub but the pizza is awesome! On this visit our server was great. She was quick which is what I need on my lunch break. They weren’t very busy and they had the usual special of a drink and 2 slices of pizza for $ 5 which is a great deal that a couple of people at my table had. I ordered the veggie sub which is a bunch of grilled vegetables topped with cheese. My friend had the steak and cheese which was okay. We also ordered their homemade potato chips as an appetizer topped with cheese. We usually have them with our sandwiches but once they were topped with the cheese they were exceptionally greasy. I would just stick with the normal side of them that comes with the sandwiches next time. The décor could use a little bit of a facelift. It’s pretty basic and not super comfortable.

I consider myself a pizza connoisseur, always trying the pepperoni pizza to determine how good the place is. If you like NY style pizza, and are close to Short Pump, this is the best place I’ve found, followed by Frank’s West on Patterson Avenue. I used to drive from Short Pump to Carytown to get Mary Angela’s pizza, which I considered the best in the Richmond area, but now I just drive 1.5 miles to Vinny’s, which rivals that of Mary Angela’s. Note: This rating only applies to this location of Vinny’s Itialian Grill. I ate at a Lynchburg location with the same name a few weeks ago and it was not nearly as good. Unfortunately, they just raised their price and with tax it’s about $ 15 for a large 1 topping pizza.

Pizza is good, I think that it is a bit over priced for. Well pizza. Sometimes not always the pizza is soggy and flavoress. Now I’m not talking about the sauce. The sauce is pretty good, just the pizza dough is why I think I’m not getting bang for my buck. They are also really heavy handed with the black olives. Also don’t expect a smile from the owner Think he’s getting tired of operating a pizzaria. Also the reason I’m writing this is they have been charging me for a large pizza for 3 times in a row when I only order small ones. Just found this out tonight. They did not applies or give me a discount.

I was giving Vinny’s 5 Star on Food and Service, however the last couple of times of being in there… I feel the food has dropped in taste and a little on the Bland side. I ordered the Chicken Parigiano with a side of Spaghetti. The breaded Chicken had little flavor and the side of Spaghetti, looked like it came out of a can of Chef Boyardee with a topping of Tomato sauce which had NO seasoning. To be honest, I was extremely disappointed, however this is the 2nd time this has happened, and it seems to be the tread. IN addition, I ordered a glass of Chianti Wine. I noticed how the wine glass was ONLY half full, and not the traditional ¾ full. So they were VERY light on the pour and yet the cost of this glass of wine was still $ 4.25. They are making a huge profit off of the alcohol, and if they want to continue my business and others… Don’t skimp on the Wine Pour, and whoever is preparing the dinner meals… need to go back to Basics. I drove out of my way, passing other Italian Restaurants to come here, and I wish I had stopped somewhere else last night. Very Disappointed… :-(

Excellent! Had the pizza and salad tonight, first time there and we thought it was very good. Good pricing, only wish they served bread with the salad, staff very nice and attentive. Busy place but not rushed. Very good

Alas, Vinny’s, I hardly knew ya… after numerous visits, having lived just across the street, I’m going to have to say farewell… moving to Vegas. I loved your pies and maybe will get to visit one more time before I say farewell to Richmond. My wife and I made your shop a regular, once a week habit. Either eating in our taking out. I’m now having to search for what Vegas has to offer that can replace your excellence. Ah, the Vinny’s Red, the great pizza, the wonderful staff. Did I mention the Vinny’s Red?

Reason 1 I love this place: as close to a New York slice as you’re going to get here in the suburbs of Richmond. really no complaints. Always have a good experience and the food is delicious no matter what you get. Been going here for years now.

The 2 slice special for lunch is just awesome for the price… large NY style that is the best I have had in Richmond. I especially love the italian sausage and fresh tomato for a bit extra. Whenever I get a craving for pizza this is the first place to pop in my head. I think most of the other franchises have shut down but this one lives since its one of the original owners and obviously retains the love that spawns the idea to franchise to begin with. The subs are large and loaded. The chicken philly is chunk chicken(not shredded). All in all a great local spot.
