I went there today, but the restaurant is closed. I hope they are not out of business.

This place used to be Phở Huy, my former favorite phở restaurant when I was a kid. Straight up hole in the wall joint. Came here with a friend. We tried two dishes and an appetizer. Bun Bo Hue — Friend order Not nearly spicy enough. But duuude, this is good. Pretty damned good. Even with a broken leg, this bowl of soup would carry a team on his back for a touchdown, dou’. For Madden. Phở Tai Nam — My order Lackluster and uninspired. Lots of fat/oil/msg/who knows floating at the top. And this place doesn’t give you cilantro!!! What the con heo?! Pork and shrimp Goi cuon(spring rolls) — Boy howdy, these were good. Like a newly picked tomato, these things were fresh to death. Bun Bo Hue I give high recommendations for. I mean… it’s in the F-ing name, ya know? Avoid the phở, though. And tell them Andrew sent you. So they can stare at you funny.

Tried out a new Viet join in Richardson. It’s across the street from First Chinese BBQ. Parking right in from of the restaurant is limited but it seems like you can park in the next door lots. I ordered a small bowl of phở. I am not an phở expert but it tasted pretty good to me. The phở was accompanied by some sprouts and basil leaves. Don’t other places also give you mint? I also got to try some other appetizer type dishes. All were pretty good. I can’t recall the names but… – One was basically a miniature shrimp tempura in the shape of a skinny eggroll. It was extremely crunchy and tasted pretty darn good. – One was some dish wrapped in banana leaves. That was pretty good also; very moist. – Another dish was some glutenous rice thing cooked in small bowls. Again, very good. – Lastly, it was a dish that looked like a Banh Xeo except it looked more«eggy». Another tasty dish. I think all the dishes at this joint tastes pretty good. So why only 3-stars? Service is pretty crappy. I know most Asian joints are not known for good service but it should still not be accepted. The server wasn’t friendly at all. She kept bringing wrong food to our table(it was for other tables) and she never refilled the teapot. The food was good so I’ll probably go back.
