I want to offer some constructive observation because I think the owner was very friendly and came out to greet his customers. Let me just say even though it seemed that there were several people working in the back cooking the food, it took a while to come out even though the restaurant could hardly be called busy at the time. We had some samosas and chickpeas which were pretty tasty. We ordered some kebab rolls– I would say they were pretty good. I ordered chicken biryani but I did not recognize it to be Biryani. It just did not have that Biryani flavor. It just tasted like rice and chicken mixed together. We also ordered a couple of chicken tandoori quarters and sure they were not bad, but a little raw in the middle. It does seem like this restaurant has some select good tastings, but I do think the speed of service should be seriously reevaluated.

Best mixed tandoor plate in Dallas period. The curries are ok. Biryani was not memorable. Definitely focus on ordering mainly kabobs here and you’ll leave happy

Taste– 2 of 2 stars Value– 1 of 1 star Atmosphere(ambiance & service) — 1 of 1 star Would I come back?- Yes! 1 of 1 star Total– 5 stars! I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at BBQ King! From the heavenly smells greeting you from the door to the friendly mom-and-pop shop atmosphere to the fresh tasty food, I would definitely return to dine here again. I came in the middle of the afternoon so the only other customers in the restaurant were a party of 4 elderly Indian men enjoying a meal. The presence of experienced eaters at ethnic food restaurants is always a good thing in my book! We were greeted immediately upon entrance and our orders taken promptly. The wait for the food was about 15 minutes, a little long considering we were the only order to prepare and only got one entrée, but the food was fresh and likely made to order. The chicken karahi was super flavorful but not overly salty, spicy with enough kick but not enough to overwhelm the dish. The chicken dish was kind of small for the price but the naan(only $ 1!) was huge and so good! Fluffy, crispy, bready, and more than worth it. Service was great, our waitress was friendly and helpful in describing the dishes to Indian food noobs like myself.

Great food, love the palak paneer! Their naan is great too, buttery and delicious. Service can be a little slow, but it’s friendly.

To me Pakistani food is a bit different than Indian food. This restaurant was found by accident. I thought it was an American BBQ place. The goat korma was okay. The gravy was too thick. The chicken tikka was a bit dry. I like the garlic naans. I wish they were garlic butter naan though. It would taste so much better. The sugarcane juice was refreshing, a recommended drink during the hot summer days. I would definitely come back for the bhindi gosht because I love okras. I did not see it on the menu to order the first time because it was a Friday’s special menu written on the small board by the cashier. The customer service is excellent. Friendly and attentive. :)

Loved the food. Also experienced great service. I think it’s a family-run place, but even the sons that help run the place seem to genuinely care about the business. This is a very hole-in-the-wall establishment, and a pretty spacious one, I have to say. While I was not here during a business time, I can imagine this place being fit for large gatherings and parties, simply because of the size of the place. This place also screams Pakistani(Indian atmosphere, with Islamic motifs). The only thing about this place is that there were a lot of flies. I don’t mind run-down places as long as it’s new and kept clean. And if it’s an old building, I’ll overlook maybe one fly. But when I was there, there was a good number. :(But this was during the day when it was hot outside, so it might be a different story during the winter. But if the flies wanting to be close to my food is trying to tell me anything, then I would have to agree — it’s delicious! I’ve never been to a Pakistani barbecue place(partly because there’s usually more Indian places around and they would not even dare to serve barbecued beef). The samosas, two pieces for $ 4, were really big, and good. But it was the meats that took the show, as well as the savory garlic naan($ 2.99). Chicken boti(5 cubed pieces of chicken, $ 6.99), beef seekh kabab(2 pc, like more like kafta than kabob, $ 3.49), and chicken biryani(w/bone, $ 5.99) were all excellent, in relatively large portions, and a great value. Be sure to ask for yogurt to mellow out the spice, if any are spicy — but I did not find any one dish to be overly spicy, much to my pleasant surprise. Overall, I would not mind returning, with a group. But hopefully this place is able to resolve the issue of the flies, in case someone in the group minds. Otherwise, I may have to settle for take-out.

I have been to this place three times. All three times I had a wonderful experience. The chef at this restaurant was extremely nice and welcoming. When I first came this location the chef shared with me that he was from New York. He offered me to taste something different from what I ordered as well. It is definitely not upscale, but to be honest I really don’t want my Indian food from an upscale location. The food that I enjoyed the most from all of my visits were the goat biryani and the tandoori chicken. I know tandoori chicken is very common but it was cooked very well. The goat was tender and the rice was made to perfection. I love that when I asked for more spice that is exactly what I got! The cardamom seeds in the biryani was nice as well. For the tandoori chicken the flavor and tenderness of the chicken stood out for me. Some places can really over cook the chicken and expect a curry sauce to make the dryness all better. This chicken was definitely not dry. Oh I must add that I also enjoyed the chicken stuffed naan. You can get the naan like 4 or 5 different ways I think. The portion sizes are good also. You will leave full and plus be able to take something home. There are so many different items I will be trying in the future. I recommend coming to this place. You will not be disappointed. During the week they do stop and pray for about an hour so expect a bit of a wait during about 12:30−1pm I think. I called in an order over lunch once and was advised that there would be a bit of a delay due to prayer. Honestly that made me respect the place even more.

I suspect that my experience was lacking a bit because it was the day after EID. We walked in and shortly after we sat down(the place was empty) and I could smell a moldy/mildew smell coming from their a/c unit. It’s hot a healthy smell… On the upside the service was friendly and the food was tasty. It was like home cooking in Pakistan or India, yes I’ve been… We both wanted a Chana dish(chick pea) and we lucked out. While siting there it became apparent that they were cleaned out the night before… end of Ramadan holiday. Flavor is great, portion size is great, all cooked fresh and Halal. I appreciate Halal meats for their respect to the animal. Naan bread… YUMMY… It was quiet that day, international stuff on the tv(which I love) and it looks like they may have a weekday buffet. It’s an old world kinda place… so I’m a fan.

I’ve been to BBQ King over 20 times now. The Chicken Boti is delicious, the naan bread is cooked to perfection as well. I mostly get the chicken biryani to-go special! Try the mix plate if you love grilled chicken… everything on it is fantastic! I absolutely adore this place… I’m so glad I found it!

Had no plan to try Indian food at 10 at night, but didn’t have much option that late. When I stopped at the parking lot and saw there was only two customers in a table, I was pretty cautious about the place. But to our surprise, it was simply delicious. Ordered Biriyani, Bihari kabob, chicken korma and nun. Nuns were pretty generic. Everything else had great flavor. Will not hesitate to go back.

The American fast food orange fire logo of BBQ Kings Texan heart luring storefront fierced next to the fiercer empty side dining room filled with prayer blankets for Ramadan. We arrived right before 2pm, right in time for the holiday opening hours, where a menu of Pakistan and Indian entrees glowed inside our hungry eyes. Sleepy sweet pakastini Uncles casually and kindly waited on us as we wildly ordered samosas, with spicy creamed potatoes in a thin fresh crispy dough, chicken boti in a flavorful red, herbed chicken birayani, beef kabib, yogurt to mellow out the spice, and garlic naan. We wanted to order more. We had the place to ourselves as televisions aired Islamic programming in the background and flies gentle buzzed over our Middle Eastern delights. It’s like traveling without the flight, and for $ 22 to feed two, with left overs, we felt transcended and happy in this very off the map wonderful hole in the wall.

Good authentic pakistani food, but this place takes a little bit longer after ordering your food, its difficult to wait when your hungry, but their food is worth waiting. Service: the lady was not able to describe clearly about their dishes. The Chef was lacking how to answer the question from customers. Timming: you have to wait a while after ordering(because they make every dish fresh) Food: must try their SPICYCHICKENBOTI. The chicken was soft but entirely cooked. Spice level was perfect. Loved it, would recommend every one to try it. Biryani was a little disappointing(no masala at all) it was like pilao rice with all spice and chicken in the biryani was kind of dry. Beef kabab roll was ok, not very spicy.

This is not a review about food but about a consultation we had with one of the managers/owners of this place for catering a wedding reception. If you are considering them for this purpose, you should probably go with someone with more experience. I came here with my fiancé and his parents to discuss our menu. There was only one other table of two during this slow weeknight, but the host acted like he was too busy to take time to talk to us. After we presented our sample menu(which we already priced at other places to get an idea of what to expect), he was easily $ 7 – 8 dollars/head above our next highest quote. But, that’s not the worse part. The host was not professional at all and started berating me with questions about the cost of food when I asked why the price was so high per head. And, he tried to add the cost of catering insurance to our final quote, which we never came across in out 5 other consultations. His justification was that he mentioned that a local Islamic center, which used him for catering, allowed him to roll the cost of the insurance into their bill. What?! It seemed from our consultation that they do not do a lot of professional catering. If you want to overpay and be treated rudely, then I guess BBQ King fits the bill. Otherwise, there are plenty of other professional Indo-pak places to go for catering.

«Kind of sparse for a throne room.» I thought as we entered, at the head of an army of 5000, through the glass door. In fact, I felt a little lost without a royal herald to announce me, so I announced myself. «Dan H. and retinue seeks an audience with the King!» The BBQ king came out, brandishing a scepter of tandoori chicken and told me to be seated(perhaps because I was being so loud) and the royal banquet commenced. BBQ King is relatively simple from the outside and the interior is sparse but functional. The menu, however, has a decent amount of depth and there’s plenty of delicious-sounding things to try. We started with the lowly Potato Samosa($ 3.99 for 2), oft fried during a previous administration and then reheated to the consistency of a hockey puck for your culinary ‘enjoyment’. Not so at BBQ King! The crispy shell had all those wonderful bubbles that mark a really great, fast fry, and the filling was soft, pillowy and creamy, with just a hint of spice. Not stopping there, they serve it atop a chick pea curry with plenty of thin red onion slices and cilantro. Absolutely delicious! Next, let’s get something straight: they serve a delicious Chicken Biryani for only $ 2.99 as a take-out special! It’s $ 5.99 if you eat in. Quite an attractive offer if you need a quick dinner to go. They call it ‘boneless’ although the chunks of chicken did have some bone in them(which I prefer), but there weren’t any small bone chips in the rice that you sometimes find in biryani, so maybe that’s what they mean. The Haleem($ 8.99) is a beef dish stewed so long it practically disintegrates into a ultra-savory, umami-packed bowl of paradise. This is a seriously good spread, and works with rice, biryani, or naan. It has a subtle heat, but I wouldn’t call it spicy. Highly recommended. As I mentioned in my review for Alounak, kabobs are a sore spot for me: rarely cooked well, I usually have to eat raw vegetables sandwiched between overdone and dry meat and then I just want to fling myself into a volcano. Again, not so at BBQ King! The beef Seekh Kabob($ 1.99) is made from finely ground beef molded around a skewer and grilled. I’ve had a ton of these things and usually been let down(the worst offenders can be dry and lacking in flavor), but the ones here are tender, juicy, and completely suffused with a lemony, garlicy, peppery seasoning that is unbelievably good! These are the new bar. I cried a single tear, realizing that so many meals had passed without sporting one of these on the side, and I vowed to make a change(new year’s resolution?). Always one to ‘eat my veggies’, I ordered the Palak Paneer($ 6.99), assuming that the chunks of cheese would serve to bolster the health benefits of the spinach. PROVETOMETHATITDOESN’T! This was a wonderful dish with an earthy, almost cinnamon aftertaste, and I couldn’t get enough of it. Finally, the Chicken Tikka($ 2.99 for a leg quarter) blew us all away. I’ve had so many forgettable fire-engine-red drumsticks at other restaurants, but this one was crusted with a bright citrus and spice rub, and the chicken itself was juicy and perfectly cooked. Easily the best I’ve ever had, and it handily illustrates why that dish was invented in the first place. You will fiend for this at all hours, but it will betray you, revealing your midnight tryst with bright red streaks of spice rub across your sheets and face. Lastly, a few quibbles: no rice or naan comes with your dishes, and you have to order this separately. I say order the biryani to go(only $ 1 more than a smaller portion of regular rice?!) and have a feast at home. The wait can be on the longer side(grilled items taking the longest), so call ahead if you’re starving. This place is an absolute gem in the community, and we’ve yet to have a bad or even a forgettable dish here. I thanked the king for the honor he bestowed on us with that amazing banquet and then shocked the court by screaming, as we left, ‚“BUTWE’REINMURICAANDDON’T BOWTONOKINGSSOGTFOSTARS N STRIPESFOREVER!“ I hi-fived a circling bald eagle on the way out, knowing that I had done my duty.

Some good down home Paki food. I was craving some good, spicy, desi food. Chicken boti was spicy and really hit the spot. The biryani was also yummy. We also got garlic naan and regular naan… fluffy yet crispy on the bottom. Naan should be its own food group. Everyone is really nice. The waitress checked on us enough and the chef/owner came out to ask how everything was, as it seems he tends to do based on other reviews. The kababs and boti seem to be cooked to order. That takes time. Sit your happy butt down, order, and wait for deliciousness. Hole-in-the-wall at its best.

Fantastic place, with an extraordinary menu full of options to either have small and good take-away or assemble numerous add-ons into a festive table full of food. I was looking for a good halal-certified restaurant for a colleague I was traveling with so he didn’t have to keep going veggie-only, and stumbled across BBQ King on Unilocal.A quick call to confirm that they close at 11PM sealed the deal, and off we drove. Getting into Richardson and finding BBQ King was easy enough, but parking may be a challenge during peak hours. The restaurant looks small and Spartan, but stop at the door and you’ll smell quality cooking wafting out at you. Practically floating in the door like Bugs Bunny on the waves of food, our hostess/waitress asks us to wait a minute while she clears out a booth. Now — fair warning — if you eat too many meals here you may not fit into a booth, but they are comfortable and have a spacious table, especially if you’re a party of 2. My colleague got excited at seeing the options on the menu, and suddenly we have a pitcher filled to the brim with mango lassi arriving at the table, followed by approximately half the menu. Boneless chicken biryani came out first, and provided lovely grilled chicken and a rice base for what followed. Incredibly creamy butter chicken was next, with just a little bit of bite to the curry to remind us that this was proper and authentic family-made food and not some pre-packaged meal. 5 pieces of chicken boti cubes were next, grilled and seasoned to perfection. They were nicely framed by the 2 beef kabobs we’d also ordered, which had very finely ground meat, but a few pieces of bone seemed to have snuck through and I carefully made sure those didn’t get accidentally swallowed. Oh — lest I forget — the naan. 1 beef and 2 regular naan, just because we had to try everything we could on the menu. The regular naan came out piping hot from the oven, and absolutely magnificent. The beef naan was a little less hot and fresh-tasting, but still quite good. We didn’t bother with appetizers, and at the first study of the menu we had a fleeting belief we’d make it to dessert(the kulfi looked GREAT), but it was not to be. Customer service was great all-around, with the waitress and a waiter coming to check on us regularly to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. About halfway through our dinner, the owner also came out to ask how things were going and if everything was good. That kind of attention to detail shone through everything here. It’s a family-oriented restaurant, and the staff(from the owner on down) care about every detail, from the lights being replaced outside as we pulled up to the quality of the food and even the cleanliness of the bathrooms, everything was just right. I look forward to coming back here, but do think it should be for lunchtime, with an hour or 2 of a nap scheduled immediately thereafter. Their menu is delectable for dinner, but may be just a wee bit heavy.

This was my first visit to BBQ King and I really enjoyed it. I went with a Meet-Up group and most of the were also in for the first time. I believe most loved the food as much as I did. There are several chicken dishes to choose from, goat, beef kebabs, biryani and more. The group I was in had a special buffet so we had the chance to sample several items. After dinner we were served lovely kulfi(or South Asian style ice cream). Wait service can be a little slow but the good thing is you still get great freshly made food. Also it would be good to see it nicely decorated with Pakistani décor. I definitely want to return to this place as they’ve got a really good menu to choose from.
