This is primarily a Dubstep club, if you aren’t a fan of Dubstep you may not like it simply for the music. WURK doesn’t really get going until about 2am, but it’s totally awesome from 2am until dawn. The music can be incredible depending on the DJ, I’ve heard some genius mixing in there and people come to dance. As a life long, but aging dancer, I don’t get out much — but when I really want to get my wild boogie on: I go to WURK.

I really do love this club, you have to go late late & on a weekend though, I have shown up to early in time to walk into a pretty empty bar with a few geeky teens jumpin around. BUT when they get packed its amazing, its a great crowd, not just trendy rich drunk girls like some of the casino clubs, its a very down to earth high energy crew, burners from burning man, really different than the over priced over the top clubs. & tons of dj’s so yes its dubstep but it still changes up a lot. Fave!

This place is only good when they have descent Djs. Otherwise, its a dump. Their bouncer’s have attitudes. I understand they have to deal with a lot of crap. But common sense is not their forte.

To begin with, a great party night in Reno has three distinct phases in my world… There’s the beginning of the night, let’s call it the Alpha Phase, starts about 8ish and usually runs until 10−11pm… The beginning of this phase is marked with a large amount of sobriety yet with the goal to remedy this state. During the Alpha Phase, one usually meets at a prescribed agreed upon location to gather friends and forces for the night… The Beta Phase begins when the first location has served its purpose and the imbibing has begun. This phase usually begins about 11ish and runs until approximately 2AM. By this phase, one has usually nailed down all of the members of the drinking clan for the night and alcohol levels tend to increase exponentially during this phase. Towards the end of the Beta Phase, it is not uncommon for numbers of your group to begin to dwindle as people begin to couple off or just get too hammered to continue… The final phase is the Gamma Phase. This phase tends to begin about 2ish and really could last until way after the sun rises. To make it to the Gamma Phase takes some real dedication and this is when the cream of the drinking crop usually rises to the top. Additionally, making it into the Gamma Phase, usually means that one has had an epic Reno night… So, with the above in mind… Wurk is definitely a Gamma Phase place. I have been to Wurk numerous times and know that it really doesn’t get going until at least 2AM… I have been there earlier and could understand how someone might think this place is slow, but trust me, it’s not. They do play a ton of Dub step, so if you are not a fan, don’t go. This is a very local place and that’s a very good thing. The drinks are cheap, the bartenders rock and the people who you find here during the Gamma Phase are just as gone as you are if you end up here… And a piece of advice, besides the dance floor, there is this one spot right by the entrance, immediately to the left, that is the sweet spot of the music in this place. You can sit on the very comfy, plush couches and sink into the hole and just enjoy yourself… you’re welcome… I love Wurk and it is always the last stop for me, if I am feeling up to a Gamma kinda night…

What can I say about good ‘ol Wurk? Well, let me start off by saying that it isn’t for everyone. Reasons why it might not be for you: 1. You’re coming there to score chicks. Just from observing, I can tell you that most of the women that pop in there don’t look like the easily bedded type, so take your muscles elsewhere bro. Not chill. 2. The music is not that pre-packaged crap you hear on the radio. I don’t mean to be insulting, but the music on the radio sucks, and you won’t find it here. 3. Crappy advertising. Most of the time I hear about the really awesome DJ’s/producers through word of mouth. Reasons why it IS for you: 1. Sometimes they play awesome music. Hit this place on a good night and some big name in electronic music might be coming through. 2. You don’t need to know how to dance. Nobody in her knows anyway. 3. Cheap PBR. 4. It’s not just Dubstep. People need to learn to tell the difference between that and other genres. 5. Plenty of places to sit. Overall, I’d say this is a sweet place to hang out and dance like you’re an epileptic. Oh, and they have fooseball!

I was dragged here, even though I did get my groove on for about 45minutes, it was kind of lame. It is different in that it only plays like dubstep type disco music, so it is not your normal music genre, I still felt out of place. The only cool part was that they checked my coat that I did not feel comfortable leaving around while I did get my groove on, but it cost a dollar which was not that bad. I do not know what the cover charge was since I did not pay, but I am sure it was not much. I also did not get a drink here, so I cannot tell you how the bar is, but it was poppin for a Wednesday night. We ended up going back to the place we were at before we came here which was 10x better.

Great club when great DJS kill it till the break of dawn! This is one of the best clubs period… No last call very reasonably priced drinks fabulous babes and killer djs. And there’s not too many douche bags hounding the babes with one liners… So not too shaby for you ladies! Also the bartenders are all pretty rad!

This place could do better in a few areas: –The music is hit or miss; good dj = good times, bad dj = bringing the party to a screeching halt. Unfortunately they often book opposing styles(to the ear at least) back to back as well. –No one else knows how to dance here, a lot of people think that moshing or throwing punches is a cool way to dance(news flash, it’s not). This wouldn’t be a problem if the floor plan were a little more forgiving. But there are posts and weird built-in benches delineating the linoleum area where they want you to dance(aka spill your drinks). Be prepared to be boxed in and jostled more and more as additional drunk people show up. –SUPERSOFTPOURDRINKS! This is the main reason I only give two stars. I always leave thinking«How am I not more drunk? Is my tolerance going up because I’ve been drinking too much lately?» No, it’s not, they just water THEBEJEEESUS out of mixed drinks – I honestly think they just don’t add liquor sometimes. Get shots instead, you’ll actually get some alcohol. Another star off for only offering Patron tequila(it won’t make people think less of your bar if you stock mid-level booze too). Drinks also come in pretty small plastic cups, they should at least be full to the brim guys! Buut, this IS Reno and it is one of the better music spots in town AND they do often bring stellar talent for our listening pleasure and the cover is often cheap(obviously they get you with the weak drinks).

So, despite the fact that I kinda hate dubstep, it’s NOT Top 40, and that makes me happy – especially since we don’t have anything like this(as far as I know) where I live. However – 1 am on a Saturday and this place was totally DEAD. There were, seriously, 7 or 8 people in here, and I think there were only 2 dancing. And somehow, the DJ still managed to ignore 3 song requests from my boyfriend(he likes dubstep – that’s why we were here). Also, minus a star for the douchey doorman.

When it’s late and there’s no place else to go, people go here. Expect that and you won’t set yourself up for disappointment.

Me and my buddies were staying in GSR and at dinner we asked the waitresses what sort of places to check out in Reno. They recommended Wurk as the local place to go and decided to check it out. Upon arrival there was banging dubstep music blasting from the speakers and later the DJ went on to beat box some dubstep music. cheap PBR’s were the drink of choice… gives you an idea what kind of place it is. Me and my buddies were probably the only non locals in the place, but hey, when in Reno right?

If your looking for a high energy late night outing, come on in this joint and get Wurked. The DJ was amazing although I was so wurked I cant remember his name. Entertainment steps from the Casino doors.

I have been to this place 3 times in the past few months. Each time there has been good music, art & people. The doors stay open late which is nice to get your groove on till dawn :) Thinkin’ it’s an up & coming place if they can retain good vibes, art, music & people. Cheers!

I went here with some friends on Saturday night, and it wasn’t the best. First, the heavyset door guy(who used to work at Tonic) really sucks. He thinks he’s the coolest kid in school because he’s a bouncer. WOWBRO, good for you. He’s played his tough guy act with me a few times in the past, and this night was no different. Once inside, it was tough to get any service at the bar. The music was good, and the dancefloor is pretty big. That’s what saved this from being a 1 star review.
