«I heard that Bubinga is now closed.» This was the review of this place that I added after I heard this news. Then I realized that people reading it might be super confused as to why I just posted this one lame sentence, so I’m adding more. I have special insight into the BuBinga lounge, as I used to work there. Work conditions and such notwithstanding, BuBinga Lounge was what Reno needed. When it opened, it had class and style that you really couldn’t find anywhere else in Reno, and that few people in Reno had ever seen before. It did end up trying to hard, and became a little to big for it’s britches. Also, sadly, greed and corruption took over and it went downhill. It became the place where you saw the same people EVERYWEEKEND, often times going home with different people EVERYWEEKEND(when you’re working there and sober, you see all of this). BuBinga holds a special place in my heart because I got to meet a bunch of celebrities, but it also leaves a sour taste in my mouth because despite it’s gorgeous décor, the underbelly was dirty. As it didn’t look like much fun the last time I visited Reno, I’m not saddened at all by it’s loss. Most of the people who worked there moved on to bigger and better things anyway.

I guess this is the spot if you are in your early twenties and drunk stupid. There are a handful of 30+s but yes it’s you that the kids were laughing at. The club itself is pretty nice, I had high hopes, but the crowd and music(last year’s hiphop) left a lot to be desired. Where are the grown & sexy at?

I love Reno! And Bubinga holds it down. Expect excessive top 40 hip hop and ass grabbing going both directions. But don’t wear your jersey or sneaks, this place is high class.
