To whom it may concern, My daughter and I ate there for the first time on 9÷22÷15. We both ordered the Fish and chips. The order came out quickly and was hot. The fish was very good, the french fries were bland. I would have liked some malt vinegar but no one came to check on our table. The only time someone came to the table was when we were ready to leave. The young man asked if we needed some take out boxes, which we did. Unfortunately he never asked how our food was. I believe this restaurant could do an amazing job, if they put hard work into it. I wish Gordon Ramsay would stop by and help them. Good luck to you!

Been here long ago after eating at glendale location. Lots have changed. More like a pub now instead of a diner. Stopped for something cool on a 96 degree day. We were stupid to order a milkshake from a diner. First off the temp inside matched the outside. Our bartender, yes that is the best way to describe her, delivered our shakes. Kind of strange looking at someone so old dressed in little shorts and top showing all her tattoos, belly piercing etc… the shakes were like nestle quick poured over ice cubes and blended. I know this was not true because I’m rating from the bathroom at home. Beware, might be a hot spot for drinking but not a place for kids or shakes. Just saying

It’s truly a wonder this place is still open. They’re menu is a mess with multiple spelling errors. I ordered a burger with fruit instead of fries. They asked if strawberries were okay. I said yes of course. They brought my burger with fries and forgot my fruit. When I reminded her she returned with what was clearly CANNED fruit cocktail. How they can charge a dollar extra for disgusting canned fruit and still sleep at night I’ll never know. Burger was okay. Fries were not fresh. Also, décor is tacky and cluttered. Looks dirty and unfinished.

Taste great!!! Fast service, very attentive. Great price, but for some reason I always get sick eating here. 2 out of 3 times eating here I have gotten sick. So we had to stop coming.

Went there today for breakfast for the first time. Overall, the food and service were good. I had the regular Hot Rod Breakfast(country potatoes were great) and my boyfriend had the Sunday Special. Despite good service and the food, I only had one complaint.
The woman working at the front counter was very busy, since we sat at the bar we saw everything. In the 30 minutes we were there, I didn’t see her wash her hands once. She was handling money, menus, wiping up tables, in and out of the fridge, and in and out of the back then CHECKINGTOASTANDBUTTERINGPIECESWITHHERBAREHANDS. No gloves, no washing station to be seen. I found this to be unsanitary and frankly it grossed me out. I would go there again but next time I’ll skip the toast. There’s no reason to pinch toast with your bare hands, you can see if toast is done or not… use gloves or buy some silicon tongs to lift the toast. It is possible that she could’ve washed her hands in the back but given how fast she was in and out of there, I highly doubt it. Either way, there is still no reason not to use gloves or tongs when getting the toast out of the toaster, there is absolutely no reason to use bare hands when buttering toast. Just nasty.

I’ll admit, I’ve only eaten here once since I moved into the area a year and a half ago, but I’m always tempted to try it again. I just … uh … haven’t … Maybe I feel there’s always something better to get, or I forget about it. I wasn’t all that impressed, but the food was okay actually. I called and had some food ordered for a pickup. On the phone, I asked about the hotness of their wings. See, I like a little spicy, but not a lot … I like the flavor of hot sauce and chicken, and a bit of heat … but I’m not a fan of needing a fire hose, either. So, anyhow, I asked and she said they do different heat levels. I asked for the mildest hot wings. I also ordered a chicken burger for my wife which was supposed to come with a large Ortega chili roasted on it. When picking up the food, the atmosphere was okay. They had a few locals that were drinking there but otherwise it was very empty. I kind of felt out of place. When getting home and digging in to our food, the first thing I realized was … my mouth was on fire. Like, O.M.G., why is Satan dancing on my tongue??? I pushed through it though. The flavor of the sauce and the chicken was there, and I appreciated that the wings weren’t scrawny … good meat on each of ‘em! But the heat. Dear lord, the HEAT! Somehow I did it, I finished them all, but I would regret it the rest of the night. Oh, I forgot, I also had a cheeseburger. There wasn’t anything special with it, it was rather ordinary. Certainly not bad though. My wife’s chili-chicken burger was okay(I had a bite) but lacking some flavor. My wife commented on it, too … she said the Ortega chili was mostly tasteless but the chicken itself was alright. That’s about it. I don’t have much else to say. I really should eat there again, try some different things. I’ll have to remember they’re there. PS: They often have some sweet cars sitting outside their place … hot Vettes, VWs, Woodys, etc. Love driving by there.

We love Vonz Hot Rod Bar and Grill and now, it’s the same, only different. They remodeled the left side of the diner into a bar, offer a bar menu, happy hour, and they stay open later. Yeah! I fell in love with their patty melts the first time I had them, and that’s usally what I order when I go there. It’s hard to screw up a patty melt, But you’d be surprised how many bad ones I’ve had. Here, they make them the right way, on rye bread, grilled to perfection, with a good sized patty and melty swiss cheese. I always order mine wth no onions and extra cheese, which drives my husband crazy, but that’s how I roll! My husband has had lots of stuff on the menu, from the fat sandwiches to the burgers, and it’s all good. The last time we were in, they’ve got a new menu, where you can order a basic burger, and add what you want to it for an additional cost. Same for the omelets. It can be pricey if you add a lot of items, but at least you can get it «your way.» Last time I was in, I got biscuits and gravy with bacon and cheese, and OMG, was it good! The buscuits were delicious, flaky and yummy, and the gravy was what gravy should be, sausage, pepper goodness that covered those biscuits perfectly. On top were bits of crispty bacon and cheddar cheese, it was a perfect morning mouthful. We’re fans of Vonz anyway, and the remodel with alcohol and later hours, along with the bar food, which we haven’t tried yet, but sounds delish, has made us even more fans of Vonz!

«Fat» sandwiches, wings, and burgers are fantastic. Service is decent, not horribly expensive. It’s close so I go frequently.

Just that A-OK… Not bad for a fast breakfast if you want a sit down in the North Valley. Service is good, food was filling and a lot of locals come here. The waitress knew a few peoples orders as soon as they walked in. I would drive into town or head out to Lemmon Valley for a 4 star plus breakfast…

The fat sandwiches are great. The service has always been pleasant. They newly remodeled and added a bar area which is really nice. They also have some little tables they put outside when the weather is nice but you are basically in a parking lot having lunch.

This place is now called Hot Rods. It has had a number of visits from me and in the past, when it was called other names, the food was OK and it was the service that varied from fair to not so fair. I’ve been here now several times and the service is OK to not bad. The food is OK to good! If you’re in the north valleys and don’t want to drive into town, their fish & chips and decently good. Every time I have ordered it, it comes out mouth burning hot(that’s a good thing). The steak fries are served hot too. The fish & chips comes with 3 medium pieces of fish and a fair amount of fries for under $ 10. Bottom line — — — — — — — — — — Yes, I will come back here. It’s decent and the service is decent.

I ate here for the first time today. Everything we ate was burned — the hamburger, pastrami, tuna, tortilla chips, and cheese. The guacamole we ordered was completely flavorless and looked like a green paste. Nothing was fresh. The waitress even offered us clam chowder that she said had been sitting in the refrigerator for a few days. The drinks were flat and the waitress never checked on us to see how everything was. Nothing was good about this diner… Not to mention we didn’t finish our food because we were already feeling sick…

Its more of a 3.5. I saw that this place had lots of new signage and longer hours, I thought it had changed hands, but on the menu it does say it is actually an enterprise of Vonz Diner, the name is now Hot Rod Bar and Grill. This place is weird, I liked the place, but I didn’t… I almost felt like I was in an episode of Restaurant Impossible, all while appreciating the quaintness and small town feel of it. One of my absolute favorite parts, is that there was a cowboy cooking. I mean, cowboy hat, wranglers and boots. Coming from Winnemucca, it really made me feel welcome and at home. I doubt the beef is from this guy’s personal ranch, which would be stellar, but I like to pretend it is ;) The menu is smaller, but inventive. The have cute and creative names for regular breakfast items as well as the many omelet options. The prices are pretty standard, if not a bit cheaper than chains like Denny’s/IHOP etc. I ordered that«Fat Man’s Breakfast“at around $ 11 or $ 12, a full 1 lb. ham steak and eggs and standard hashbrowns and toast. I declined toast and the server offered to replace it with fruit or something else, I asked if I could have the soup of the day, amazingly, I could. It was a homemade clam chowder. They didn’t even upcharge, which they probably should have. BTW, hand written checks and tickets over here still. I ordered the county hash, so diced potatoes and onions YUM. My dad saw the fresh bowl of those in the back. The ham was delicious, it was different in that they used a honey mustard glaze. I am coming back for the ham steak breakfast. My family’s choices ranged from omelets to the Sunday Chicken Fried Steak special at $ 7.95 or so. It is a smaller sized chicken fried steak at 5 oz instead of the regular 8 oz. My dad substituted his toast for one single pancake, again, no upcharge and the pancake was perfect. The omelets were both«The Doobie» I believe(I think ~$ 9), which was tomatoes, sausage, mushroom and cheese. HUGEHUGE omelets just fyi, one thing is, the cheese could have been melted more. We asked for salsa, and don’t expect anything but Pace, which is okay, because we happen to like Pace. I guess i feel like Restaurant Impossible because I noticed not a lot of fresh, green items for omelets like spinach or asparagus, and a lot of what seems like processed things, the gravy was good, but i imagine it was a packet mix sort of thing. Again, I’m not necessarily against that, i love processed food, and you aren’t paying hefty prices, so its not like you are paying for lies, but just fyi. Place could use a good cleaning, a little cheesy and over the top in the décor. I feel like they have a lot of potential though. Basically, a good greasy diner spot. I am interested in the lunch as the burger descriptions sounded pretty good. Service was stellar, coffee cup never got even close to empty, but that’s because they have the worst coffee ever. So don’t get that. It is just, i don’t know what they do or what brand, but awful. They were pretty happening, but it is a relatively small space so not too hard to do. Only 2, 4 person booths, a 2 person booth and a 6 person booth on the diner side, looked like a few more tables on the bar side.

Horrible! They only get 1 star for the decent food. Before going I read about the horrible wait times, but the latest reviews said that wasn’t an issue anymore. Ok then, here we come! WRONG!!! None of the waitresses even knew we were seated, even though the owner sat us! She finally took our order and then disappeared. As we grumbled amongst ourselves how long it was taking, the couple behind us let us know they had already been waiting 52 minutes. And there were people there before them still waiting!!! No bueno! So we get our food. It’s ok. Nothing to write home about. Def won’t be going back!

I have been here 3 – 4 times at the recommendation of a few family members. I have found the service to always be fast and friendly. Last weekend, the cook was even out in the front greeting people. I usually order one of the fat sandwhiches and am never dissapointed. It’s a funny little diner with a lot of charm. I’ll be back for sure.

Service was ok, but the food was disappointing. I ordered corn beef hash and eggs with hash browns. The eggs were fine, but both the hash and hash browns were over cooked to the point that the edges were burnt. I can’t comment on the other dishes they serve, but there’s not to many dishes easier to make than corn beef hash and hash browns.

I ordered the biscuits and gravy breakfast. B and G with bacon, 3 eggs, and hash browns. 7.99 The meal was well prepared, with the exception of the gravy. It seemed to have burnt on the bottom of the pan at some point. It rendered the biscuits and gravy unedible. I let the guy know imediatly, and he agreed it was bad, but never offered to take it off my tab and only charge me for the bacon eggs and hash browns. He did however give me a coupon for a free lunch. So more to be added later.

I would have tolerated the frozen, square hash browns, discount orange juice, canned corned beef hash and over hard(when I ordered over easy) eggs… due to the fact that I saw the diner was understaffed and each staff was working very hard to get orders out in a timely manner(which still wasn’t very timely), and the fact that many restaurants are cutting corners due to the economy… HOWEVER, when I found a course gentleman’s hair in my corned beef hash this morning while dining at Von’s Diner, I had to draw the line. By-far the biggest waste of $ 25(my husband and I both endured this)… and I will not be returning, and I highly suggest that no one else does.
