Carrow’s Family Restaurant

This restaurant is now closed but I thought I might add that I found it very strange they had a lead warning attached to the menu about lead being on the premises. It didnt specify what or where the lead was but I found it quite strange trying to imagine if the lead was in the food, the cookware, or the plates. I won’t complain about the food too much but lets just say Dennys is a step up. The vegetables were definitly gross.

Driving by and the yard is full of weeds. Doesn’t make you want to go in. Plant sime drought resistant plants

The 2 star rating this place has is too nice! Walked in and waited for over 5 minutes without so much as a nod from any of the employees! Crappy customer service from the get-​go.

My wife and I decided to eat here after a long hiatus. We were impressed with the taste of the food, it was all excellent, which we were not expecting form this restaurant (kudos to the cook). Service was somewhat slow, but we were still able to finish our lunch with time to digest in the span of a one hour lunch period.

Do not waste your time here! The service is awful! We went here for lunch. It wasn’t busy. When we walked in no one greeted us. When someone finally came out they said we will be with you in a minute and hurried away. No hi how are you or good afternoon. Several employees walked by us completely ignoring us. 2 more employees continued to say one minute and hurried off. Then one employee stood there chatting with another employee while we continued to wait. She even made eye contact with me but never actually acknowledged us. After that we left. That is absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced!

The quality of the food here is pretty bad. Granted this was the first time I was ever at any one of this franchise restaurant, I felt you could get fresher food at McDonald’s. If you must eat at a chain restaurant for whatever reason, IHOP would be a better choice in my opinion. Also, do not order any dessert here. We tried the cheese cake and chocolate cake and they were probably the worst I have ever tasted anywhere, period. I can tell you that Trader Joe’s frozen food section has fresher dessert than these dishes.

took 10 minutes to seat us the only customers waiting with tons of open seating. My server did not wait on us and ignored or table for over an hour. She did not come by to refill coffees or sodas during the time yet she repeatedly (4x) did so for the other half of her station. Yet our half of her station were lucky to have drinks in the first place. People seated 20 minutes after us got their food in thirty minutes yet after an hour of waiting for egg dishes and a sandwich we left as it was clear we were never going to get our food. Avoid this place at all costs.

Wow. I must say that I am appalled with the service. We were skipped over by the hostess. Someone that came in after us was seated before us. Finally a CUSTOMER wrote my families name down on the list. We were seated in the back and like most reviews say, we were forgotten about. I sat there and watched two other tables that were sat AFTER me get served before I did. We sat for 20 mins. My sons were starving. This was completely unacceptable. This was my first time coming here and I will never return. I will also tell others to steer clear. There were plenty of servers, but do they hire servers with experience?! Or with a flipping personality?
The floors are filthy. I feel like this place has so much potential, but is a major disappointment due to the lacking service. Even after 20 mins of waiting, a large group sat down and immediately had their drink orders taken AND had silverware! I’m sorry my small family wasn’t worthy of the excellent service that the larger party received.
To my surpise the food was delicious! I ordered the California Benedict. There were two onion potato patties topped with two pieces of bacon, two eggs, the famous hollandaise sauce. Then, topped off with fresh tomato and avocado. I ate every last bit.
So sad that the food didn’t make up for the way we were treated. To add to it, on the way out, another server cashed us out and informed me that I was over charged becuase kids ate free that day. She also said that our server wasn’t supposed to take us, she was.
I HATE leaving bad reviews because I feel like I’m just nagging, but if things went good that day the little things I nagged about would have been over looked.

Hi Folks! My wife and I ate twice at this Carrows during a stay in Reno. Both times the service was good as was the food. I would like to really like to praise the 2/​$ 20 deal they have. I had the Lemon Chicken, the wife a salad. The dessert (enough for 2) as the Chunky Monkey with coffee ice cream, bananas, whipped cream, definitely over my calorie target but what the hey! Service was timely, friendly, We were quite pleased with value for the money. Granted it wasn’t really busy either time we were there. I think it was better than Dennys which is right across the street. Rest room was clean also. For the money you could do a lot worse. Frankly if you have to wait more than 5 minutes to get seated and/​or 15 minutes to take your order, maybe you need to go someplace else! Don’t put up with BAD SERVICE!

I have worked here last year and i enjoyed the food and people who would come in. The staff (at least on my shift) were great people and worked very hard. I miss the food. My favorite is the prime rib dinner as well as the roast beef melt. Really wish i had a carrows where I live now.

You will be lucky if you get out of this place alive! The most disgusting unsanitary place I have ever seen. And to top it off the workers there are rude and have serious attitude. Enter at your own risk!

The 5.99 Son of Big Boss breakfast or whatever they advertise in the window was like all food you would get at Walmart and make yourself at home, but it was a bunch of food and passable for the price. The pancakes were good at least.
The chain supposedly started out specializing in beef so maybe dinner is better.
I’d take the Diamonds diner or Dennys over this but it’s a passable third option in the area. Better than JT Ashleys which will give you similarly meh food but at 2x the price.

Came to Reno a friend’s wedding and stayed a block away. The chorizo and eggs sign drew me in, but once I saw that it was a Carrow’s, I was weary. The wait to be seated took about 10 minutes. I didn’t know if they knew I was there or not. Being served didn’t take long at all, but getting the bill did.
The food was pretty good. Average diner food. Nothing special with chorizo and eggs. It would be hard to screw that up. I wish they had a bigger staff. The only waitress seemed a bit frazzled and needed a break. Too many customers and tables and too few employees out front.

Irene… What can I say about her that hasn’t already been said about Afghanistan? Her service was bombed up and depleted!

Came here for dinner a couple days ago, and it was the worst service ever! When we first got there we were greeted and sat right away. They asked us what we wanted to drink I asked for a Pepsi and got a diet Pepsi. I asked them if the could switch it and they did. We order out food and probably like 4mins later our food came I ask for a1 and got an empty bottle of a1 I had to get up and ask for a1 since our server never came back to check on us. We even had to get up and ask for our check. Server never came by!

So its New Years Day and after an exciting night of sleeping, rolling over and kissing the love of my life, we were starving! On our way out of Reno, we decide we want breakfast. The options were Carrow’s and olé faithful… aka Dennys. Dennys looked packed, so we opted for Carrow’s.
As we make our way inside, I notice that the hostess looks very angry and either shaky from lack of sleep or shaky from too much tweek. We are seated in the back of the restaurant and virtually forgotten until Donny waves his hand in the air to get the lady’s attention. She then held up her finger to tell us to wait one minute. Uhhhhh, ok.
Once she made it over, she acted like we were putting her out for wanting to, you know, eat.
After placing our non-​complex order, we waiting another 20 minutes before getting our meals… only to find that they were wrong. When Donny explained that he didnt order scrambled eggs, the woman came back a few minutes later and pretty much Frisbee tossed the damn plate on the table.
The meals were mediocre at best… wont return

Was just in Reno, and we ate breakfast here twice. Cheryl the waitperson was THE BEST. She knew what we were drinking the second day??? Bacon was crisp-​eggs over easy were correct-​seasoned homefries were good-​coffee and water always there. Breakfast was a 4star affair. Dinner – we ate here once. Had «Prime rib» veggies and baked potato (prime was well past it’s prime – veggies needed Viagra-​baked potato was steamed{lots of butter & sour cream}. The waiters were polite and fast. The restaurant and dishes were clean. So, seek Cheryl for great service with a smile and a decent breakfast-​think about another place for dinner. OK – breakfast 4 stars/​dinner 1 ½ stars!

The lady who served us was a sweetheart but the food was nothing special and when I got my glass of water there was a nice, big, fat lipstick mark on the glass. I felt like puking on the table. I looked across the room and some lady found a foreign object in her food. These folks need to hire people who give a shit about there restaurant.
