I had some down time between clients, came in here for lunch for the first time. Super friendly service! And great advice on wine… although I didn’t have a glass, the server/bartender was awesome! I ordered the lunch special and couldn’t believe the portion. During lunch, the service, food, and friendly conversation was the best! Thank you so much! I’ll definitely be back!

My friend and I recently had lunch here mostly due to the positive reviews. Unfortunately we left unimpressed and rather disappointed. I had ordered a «Grilled 3 Cheese Sandwich» and my friend ordered mac and cheese with blackened chicken which was suggested by our waiter. My «grilled» cheese was anything but grilled — the bread was the cold, the cheese was oozing out of the bread(and not in a good way) and the fries were green and undercooked. Sad to say it did not meet my expectations of what is traditionally a grilled cheese sandwich. My friend’s dish was also not up to par. The mac was actually penne and the cheese was more of an alfredo sauce. The chicken was dry and overcooked. We should’ve checked the menu for this entrée but didn’t until after receiving our food and realized that it wasn’t even on there! When we got the bill, the chicken was an added $ 3 to the meal. We did order two glasses of wine with a charcutierie board of a couple cheeses and one meat which satisfied our initial craving. The board came with pickled asparagus, cranberries, pineapple and sunflower seeds. Find out for yourself on this place. I always give restaurants two tries but unfortunately I’m not sure how this one could be fixed. Hopefully you have a better experience than we did.

Great wine. Not too snobby, but good selection. Yummy food. Friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Hade a couple great meals already. Try the mac n cheese or chef to just make something.

The food was really good the one with excellent and Billy was wonderful one of the owners. It was really nice to eat at a local establishment instead of one of the casinos that really doesn’t have that Caring factor. I will definitely put this on my have to go places when I’m in Reno. They are very dog friendly they actually had a water bowl outside for them. And you could eat outside so if you have dogs you could have them on a leash at the table. that thank you thank you so much

Three Words: Macaroni and Cheese. It’s life changing. My friend and I visited UnCork’d with the intention of having a glass of wine and checking them out to see if they would be a potential spot for our new UYE that we are trying to launch in October. We arrived about 1:30PM on Saturday and were the only two patrons in the restaurant. We didn’t want to sit at the bar, and our waitress was happy to sit us at a table. She was very friendly, checked on us frequently and was very knowledgable about the menu. We decided on an appetizer and the macaroni and cheese lunch to share. And because we ordered an appetizer, our second glasses of wines were half off because it was social hour(2 — 4PM). The food was really, really good. The macaroni and cheese was made fresh with pancetta and five different kinds of cheese. I’m not going to lie, I was fat kid happy on the mac n’ cheese. We also shared the pasta frita appetizer which came with fried bread, fresh fruit, prosciutto and zucchini rings. The servings were really good for the price(we took home leftovers for two), and although the wine was a bit pricey on some of the bottles, they have options for less expensive wine too. I think this is an excellent addition to Midtown and I’m looking forward to visiting them again!

My visit at UnCork’d Eatery earlier today was easily the worst dining experience that I have ever encountered. Here is the summarized version : ***The service is bad, the food is worse, and I will never ever come back to this restaurant***. Here are the details if you would like to keep reading: My family and I showed up about 12:30 pm this afternoon, and there were maybe 6 other customers besides us. In other words, the place wasn’t exactly packed full of patrons. After looking over the lunch menu, we decided to give this place a shot despite the lack of customers. Our order was taken fairly quickly, and our appetizers arrived shorty after. My wife ordered a cup of minestrone soup, and my oldest daughter ordered a cup of tomato basil soup. Have you ever had minestrone soup that contained onions and squash only? Yeah-me neither. The tomato soup was barely room temperature and lacked at any flavor at all. Oh, and why the hell is a tiny a** cup of soup served on a dinner plate(see below)? That is the lamest presentation that I have ever seen. Both my wife, and daughter were underwhelmed to say the least. However, we still held out hope thinking that our lunch entrees had to be better. Oh boy, were we wrong. For lunch, my oldest daughter and I chose the grilled cheese sandwich and fries(8.00). The main problem that I had with this sandwich was that it never saw the grill, flat top, heat lamp, or candle. How in the hell can you serve a grilled cheese sandwich, and not grill the damn thing? Instead, we were served a slab of flavorless brown bread, drenched in a sour, congealed, milk-like goo substance. The only thing that made this disaster somewhat edible is that it had prosciutto in the middle of this«grilled«cheese sandwich. Here is a suggestion: Rename this dish«bread pudding» because that what it resembles. Things got really interesting with my wife’s lunch. She ordered the chopped salad which was supposed to come with chicken, egg, avocado, and ranch dressing. Please see the picture below on what we were served(brown wilted lettuce, a dry under-seasoned chicken breast, and a tiny amount of oily dressing). Hah? What? When we point out the missing ingredients to our server, he tells us that the chef is boiling the egg, and that they ran out of avocado and ranch. My wife stares at this«salad» for 5 or so minutes and refuses to eat it. Our server acknowledged that there was a mistake, and asked her to order something else. At this point, we had been there for almost 45 minutes, and we had tried enough of their food to know that it just wasn’t any good. Reluctantly, my wife ordered a burger and fries since she was starving. About 10 minutes later, the burger arrived, and it actually pretty good. However, we had spent so much time in this restaurant, and were given so many excuses as to why the food wasn’t any good– we were pretty much over it . I would love to give this place 0 stars if I could. However, I am adding a star for two reasons : 1. Unilocal won’t allow me to write a review of less than 1 star, and 2. The server and owner were very apologetic, and decided to comp our meals to make up for our horrible experience. ** We were told us that the food shipment didn’t come in today, and that the chef decided to quit while preparing our food because he was overwhelmed. Hah? Are 8 customers too much to serve at once? I can’t imagine how he would have reacted if he had to make food for a full restaurant. My question is this: *** Why did you even bother to open up today if there was no food to prepare? Based on previous reviews, I think we have have caught this restaurant on a bad day. However, my experience was so awful that I won’t ever give them another chance, and I suggest that you don’t either.

I really liked this place! the owner is helpful and service was great. I loved the Cuban Tacos. The wine list is crazy long. I actually tried a beer from their fun list. Great place to sit and talk. Nice atmosphere and great location. Parking in this area can be challenging, but it’s worth it.

Love this place. From the minute I walked in until we left there was nothing my sharp eye found to be critical of. I bellied up to the bar and explained I do not drink alcohol AND I am on the Atkins Diet. John suggested a diet, non-alcohol ginger beer. Perfect! My mom, sister and a friend soon showed up and we started the birthday dinner. I went for a chopped salad with chicken and substituted the ranch for their lemon cilantro dressing. Very tasty. Mom’s garlic shrimp was«very good» and honeynut pork loin and braised pork for sis and Tami were also wonderful. The staff was perfectly engaging and when I left they all called me by name. Very cool. I live 3 blocks away and definitely will be returning soon.

VIDEOREVIEW below… Got a couple of friends and went to review this place. In short, was great. The Chef’s Special was a super fun appetizer option and the main dishes were full of flavor. Chill atmosphere, fancy, but casual at the same time. Worth every penny. For full VIDEOREVIEW click here:

Great place to eat! My boyfriend and I wanted something yummy and easy and they have healthy, vegan and gluten free options! I just had my wisdom teeth taken out and they had plenty of options for me and were so nice and understanding! The tomato soup and Mac n cheese is to die for definitely recommend and our server KEVIN was so funny and witty, I recommend him try this place out!

I’m giving this place three stars, as an average between my two last visits. When we came here last Saturday, my son and I enjoyed ourselves and loved the food so much that we wanted to bring my husband back today for lunch. The good: last Saturday we were welcomed to a bustling restaurant by smiling hostess, and we were treated to a tour of the upstairs hydroponic garden and greenhouse, which my son thought was really cool. We split the charcuterie plate, which was very good quality, and I had the vegetable lasagna, while he enjoyed the five cheese mac & cheese. Everything was delicious! I also liked their wine recommendation. The bad: today we walked into an empty restaurant with only one other patron who was near the end of his meal. We ordered the charcuterie plate to start, a cheeseburger for my husband, chop salad for me, and chicken Parmesan sandwich for my son. They were out of cheeseburgers(what?!) so my husband opted for the ahi salad instead. My son’s chicken Parm came out first, and only one of the two pieces was edible because the other was burnt. We waited several more minutes for my husband’s salad, and in a few more minutes my chop salad arrived — minus the chicken. About 5 minutes later our server brought a whole, uncut chicken breast. A total time of 10 minutes had elapsed between the delivery of my son’s meal and the final part of mine. As I cut the chicken to put it on my chopped salad, I saw that it was raw inside. Did I mention that we were the only customers? My son ate the one unburnt chicken strip, but by the time my salad came we were just frustrated and over it. My husband and I did not eat our food. We told the server about everything and asked her to bring our bill and charge us for what she felt was right. To her credit we were only billed for the charcuterie plate and our drinks. The server was very nice… Have to wonder what was going on in the back of the house. We will give this place another try and hope that the third visit is as good as the first. A couple other notes: it would be nice to have gluten-free crackers as an option on the charcuterie plate. My husband and son could eat the crostini, but I just ate plain meat and cheese. Both times we were seated in the corner. Today there were at least four tables available upfront near the windows. I wonder if because we had a child with us they stuck us in the corner?

Only lunch, but the Chopped Salad was unbelievable! Full of flavor, not too big, and breaks the mold of the boring standard. Not sure how they did the egg, but the texture and taste were perfect. Would highly recommend based on this one meal. I’ll definitely be back to try dinner. The staff was super nice and full of smiles.

We stopped in for lunch as just a quick bite and found that while the parking was difficult, it was worth it. I had the minestrone and found the soup to be hearty and the little croutons they give with it were a crunchy treat. I also tried the tuna salad and was really happy that it was seared sushi grade ahi and not that weird mayo tuna pickle crap. The tuna was cooked perfect the dressing was light and delicate but the amount of parsley put on the salad overwhelmed the cucumber squash medley so all you tasted was the parsley. The squash also soaked up much of the dressing so it may need dressing on the side.

A great place to enjoy the sunshine, people watch, and eat some delicious food. I met a friend here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. She was immediately excited by the extensive wine line. Since she is quite the wine connoisseur I will take that to mean there are some great wines on that list. I’m not a wine drinker myself but was thrilled she was able to find something she liked. My choice for an entrée was decided as soon as I saw the menu. Hello, mac and cheese! This is a 5 cheese macaroni, as they call it. It has smoked gouda, pepper jack, and aged cheddar listed but the other two cheeses are a mystery. I love the pancetta to add something chewy to the meal. The combination of the meat and cheeses was a nice, slightly smoky flavor for a very creamy mac and cheese. This was top notch, if you ask me and I consider myself a connoisseur of the mac and cheese. This isn’t your grandma’s traditional recipe but a more grown up version. Be prepared for a different flavor than you’re used to but you will love it! I was happy to find another place in town to get mac and cheese. The portion size here is huge so I had plenty of leftovers, this would be an easy entrée to share. The host was very nice and friendly. We chatted while I was waiting on my friend. I really enjoyed that. The waitress was nice but a bit clumsy. She stumbled into my friends chair every time she came to our table! Whoops. Otherwise, it was fantastic service on a perfect day.

We went at about 7:30 on a Wednesday and there were two people at the bar. We ordered a glass of wine $ 8 each which was the cheapest, some were $ 30 a glass!!! Pretty pricey. There was a nice guy who told us about the wines but came on a little too strong and didn’t give time to decide. Hovered a little. Best intentions I’m sure! My friend got the vegan lasagna and said it was good. It was an ok stop but not a place I’d go to just for a drink.

We are SO fortunate here in Reno to have such a diverse and delicious food scene. Uncork’d Eatery @ Midtown is one of the very best of breed. Whether you want just a glass of wine and a meat & cheese plate, a beer with some soup and a salad, or a full gourmet meal, you can take your pick at UnCork’d Eatery at Midtown, and do so in a beautifully comfortable atmosphere. The wine list was carefully crafted after almost a year’s worth of work, and although they do have a full bar and three tiered shelf of tequilas, the wines are the real showstoppers. Uncork’d is also a perfect location for business meetings, private parties, company outings, wine tastings, and other events. They can even close off half the space with a built-in accordion door, and there is a projector and large wall screen available for visual presentations. The food selection has multiple options with high quality charcuterie, cheeses, and pickled sides, along with a full complement of entrees thoughtfully prepared by Chef Wesley. There’s not a bad thing on the menu, it’s really all about what you like. For me, I like it all so I am here a LOT! Hopefully I’ll see you here sometime soon!

Stopped in late-afternoon on Small Business Saturday as we were wandering around Midtown, trying to keep our spending local. The space looks like it’s taking up two spots in the lower level in the Sticks development, in the building next to Chuy’s. Bright colors on the walls, with lots of art that’s got that sort of an «elementary school» style — bright colors, flat perspective, etc(note that I know nothing about art, so there’s probably technical term for this style, a bar with maybe a half-dozen seats on the right with a big flatscreen behind it, and a ton of two-tops scattered throughout. We sat at the bar, and I think there was only another duo when we got there. The bartender was super-attentive and helpful, offering us a few tasters of wine and trying to figure out what we might like, which is a bit of a Sisyphean task with me since I know almost nothing about wine and drink wine so rarely that I haven’t developed a palette for it(and with the plethora of fantastic beers these days, don’t have much interest in really learning much about it). Also brought out some freshly made potato chips from the kitchen(still warm from the deep fryer). She also let us know that it was their social hour(2 – 5) and let us know several items were half price, as well as any wine that that was $ 8 a glass or less, and was just very extremely friendly, even with our hemming and hawing as we couldn’t answer questions about what wines we liked… We had the meat plate, the Thoma(artichokes and anchovies), as well as the Taylor(blue cheese, pepper jack, and a queso blanco with some cranberry preserves) and some wine. The social hour pricing resulted in a pretty good deal, with total damage just north of $ 30. Overall, a very warm space, nice and inviting, and a pretty approachable menu in general. I’m a little surprised they didn’t have some high tops to stand at and really be social at, as the two-tops are like little islands, not really encouraging mixing and mingling. Nothing overly fancy, but definitely something a bit different from all the other options in Midtown, adding a bit of diversity at a very affordable price point.

Finally an excellent charcuterie in Reno. I’m a big fan of cured meats, cheeses, and of course, wine. They have it all. Went here on a guys’ night out and enjoyed the Meat Plate consisting of Prosciutto, Chorizo, Coppa, Panchetta, Salami, Olive Oil with Pesto bread and a Cheese Plate with five types of cheeses(the Roquefort was my favorite hands down.) After browsing through a very complete wine list we landed on a bottle of Zenato Ripassa Valpolicella Superiore and it went with everything. This place isn’t just for the guys. The inside has a nice seating areas and they offer soups, salads, and heartier fare. Great addition to Midtown!

Meat Meat and More Meat! Oh and Cheese… don’t cut the cheese. or I mean forget the cheese! We stopped in to this nice new spot on South Virginia in the Midtown District. Right next to Mari Chuy’s Mexican Restaurant. Convenient for Chuy. The space is smaller but very nicely appointed. Tons of intimate four tops and great bold art on the walls. A very small bar on one side coming in the door and a a cold case directly ahead with a selection of meats and desserts on display. I got the feel of a deli… but a deli this is not. At least not a deli that serves sandwiches. Instead this seems like a place that you can go and have a drink before dinner and maybe a nice meat plate appetizer. Tonight we tried just a few things. At this time they have a «choose three meat/cheese» combo. We ordered one Cheese and on meat. On the cheese we had sliced white cheddar, fresh mozzarella and Queso Fresco. On the Meat we got Pepperoni for my daughter, black pepper NY Steak for my wife and Mortadella for us all to share. I also ordered up the larger meat plate with Panchetta, Prosciutto, Salami, Capicola, Chorizo Sausage and a small amount of bread. My wife ordered a cup of soup and I upgraded it to a bowl. And we all had water and skipped dessert this time because my wife had plans to actually have her full meal next door at the Mexican place. The service was«soft opening» service so no complaints because who complains on Unilocal during soft openings? Everyone seemed happy and friendly. The space looked great and the items were tasty. So check out my photos, and see my receipt but I think the price points may move a little after they get all the details worked out. One thing to note, the bread charge is for 6 baguette sized slices. Another great addition to the Midtown area making it more and more desirable to live down there somewhere.
