In terms of a bar, horrible service. I’m understanding of the average wait time for a drink, but not ok with someone blatantly ignoring me. Put this place out of business, plenty of other small bars to go to in Reno.

Really classy ambiance and also has an outside patio area. Lots of beer options. Excellent craft cocktails too! The booths are funky classy or if you prefer a cocktail table you can grab one of those. I sat at the bar to watch the mixologist. Live music some nights, dj some night or sometimes great mix on the play list. Great location.

Full of charm and interesting details, this place is an awesome locals hangout. Drinks are reasonably priced, décor is inviting, wonderful glassware and cozy atmosphere.

The Loving Cup sounds like the name of a coffee shop that attracts hippie clientele. This is not the case, it is actually a bar in Reno. From what I am told The Loving Cup is a bar that keeps changing owners as well as names. As I no longer live in the Reno area, I cannot say that I have been to any of the previous businesses that have occupied this space. If I happened to be in the area and was in need of a refreshing adult beverage I would come here again. The bartender greeted us right away and took our drink order. I was happy to see that they had two different hard cider selections. I was able to try a cider that had blood orange and tangerine flavors melded in with the apple. A little on the sweet side, but really yummy and refreshing on a warm summer night. I didn’t spend much time inside the bar because it was a beautiful night and there was an outdoor patio to enjoy. My group was able to easily find an empty table outside. I enjoyed that there were speakers out there so we could enjoy the music that was being played in the bar. I’m not sure what this bar uses to play their music, but whoever was in charge of the songs must have had a severe case of A.D.D. Many of the songs would only play for 20 or 30 seconds before abruptly changing. This didn’t ruin my whole experience because I was engaged in good conversation, but it was a mild annoyance. We left a little sooner than we would have liked due to needing some food. I think I’m a little spoiled from living in Portland for so long where all bars must also serve food. This did give me the opportunity to hit up my old favorite: Jimboy’s Tacos!

My husband & I drive up from Napa, CA to Reno, we love the short get away trip! This time, we created our own beer run, The Loving Cup was our 3rd stop, got there in the early evening, and it is such a neat place. Ambiance & the décor is totally cool, absolutely love the ceiling, plus the bartenders were very nice and helpful in suggesting other places to stop for our beer run. We are definitely going back here our next Reno over night get away!

My friend and I came in for the R. Kelly cover band after we got off work. Hearing about the cocktails they serve we immediately got in line at the bar. We waited at the bar for about 15 minutes until it was finally our turn to order a drink; however, instead of taking our order the bartender kept taking orders from his friends who already had drinks. I politely spoke up and said we were in front of them and the middle aged bartender with a beard lifted a finger and told me to «shut up». Not only was this rude, but as a former bartender I found it extremely inappropriate. For a bar that has recently revamped its image, it’s saddening to see such awful customer service. The music is good but I refuse to give my money to a place who treats their customers poorly when there is awesome service to be found next door at 1864!

In the middle of Reno’s midtown renaissance, the Loving Cup is a welcome new addition. It has proven to be a great place to grab a quiet weekday evening cocktail with a friend or dance into the early hours of the morning on the weekend. Usually after visiting a place a few times, you know what to expect. Besides friendly faces on both sides of the bar, I haven’t found that to the be the case with the Loving Cup. You aren’t going to find Coors Light on draft or Top 40 music, but you may find some great live music, a DJ getting your feet moving, or some classic vinyl on an off night. In the past few years, Reno has added some great places to go grab a drink. You can definitely add the Loving Cup to that list.

This is a great little spot! One MAJOR problem: Zack, one of the bartenders(Sunday/Monday nights). My girlfriend and I went in this past Monday night, met up with a couple of our friends. My girlfriend was DD so had only one glass of wine over the course of the 2 – 3 hours we were there. When Zack poured my 3 glass(which I ordered) he asked her if she wanted her glass refilled. She politely declined 3 times, smiling and saying, «No thank you.» He poured it anyway. We just sort of ignored it, thinking he was just being«cute.» She never so much as touched it. When I went to pay our tab, I noticed the total was higher than I’d expected. I asked him if he or one of my friends I was with had bought the drink or if he had charged me for it. He looked at me as if I were an idiot and said he charged me. When I asked him why when she had declined at least 3 times, he told me that he thought I said to pour it. Impossible. Not only did I not say a word to him after he was pushing my friend to drink, but there was no way he could have«misunderstood» that she didn’t want it. When I told him that was not cool that he charged me, he said(and I quote), «Fine! Take it out of my tip and stuff me.» 1. Awfully presumptuous assuming that I was intending to tip him the amount, equaling(at minimum, if not more) the equivalent of a glass of wine. 2. His comment was flat out rude and uncalled for. (Fyi, I paid without hesitation, the $ 50 bar tab and tipped $ 10) I think this guy relies on the fact that he’s been in the industry(far too) long and has accumulated a following of some sort, and feels he’s entitled to act/behave in a manner that suits his mood instead of providing outstanding customer service as EVERYOTHER bartender who works there does. If it weren’t for these others, I would never return.

This is a fantastic spot to take a date, meet your next date or take your friends on a date. Cool music, great cocktails, and lots of special details most people don’t notice but I love and appreciate. I’m looking forward to spending many evenings and afternoons at this bar.

I’m not seeing that this spot will be on my frequent drink spot. It’s rather small. There was very little seating — really very little — two booths and some stools at the bar. And there was some available space for a few tables and chairs. On a Friday night at 8 I would have to elbow my way to the bar to order a drink– also not my style. Last the music was so loud I had to almost yell to talk to my friend standing right by me. I think I’ll a while and give them another shot next summer when I can try their patio seating.

Solid cocktail bar not far from downtown Reno. Bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. We had a Vesper, an Old Fashioned, and a Sidecar, all done with the proper ingredients and delivered with a smile. Recommend.

Lets see how our visit started, two women out for a girls night catch up I recommend the«new place up the street» wander up the street, three people in the bar at 730 pm on a Friday, that was my first concern. But ok it’s «new». We sit down ask for a cocktail menu, bartender acts annoyed by us asking, hey it’s a midtown bar which as a rule means you have your«house drinks» I’d like to see them. Ok none of those jump out at us. I ask the bartender if they have Ginger beer, not ginger ale(yes they are different –very different) he picks up a bottle and says yes. Great can we get two Moscow mules. I generally won’t order one if they don’t have Cooper cups, yes again it makes a difference. But that’s not a deal breaker, besides been a long week and I’m ready to relax and have some girl talk. Take a few sips and it’s weird, but I figure it’s just a brand I don’t know and let it slide. Halfway through, just not hitting the spot. My friend grabs the bottle sitting over the bar and it’s ginger ale. If you don’t have an ingredient someone asks for just tell them that. Needless to say ended up at Death and Taxes for Moscow miles with ginger beer not ginger ale. Ambience is nice, but seems thrown together. The ceilings look great with the one booth but the rest just doesn’t «fit». Give it another try down the road, but won’t be in a rush

You know what I love about this loving cup? I love the hipster ambience and the hipster cocktails especially the the ironically nonsensical 12 year aged rum conjoined with two different bitters and absinthe which drown it out like a 12 year pappy and coke. You know what’s missing? Fernet. Fernet and underburg. Because that would really kill your palate and ironically become an existential cocktail of hipsterdome

Ugh… I started this long detailed intro telling you of how and why I was in the loving cup. blah blah blah blah… cut to the chase. Lots of open space. Interesting décor blending of differing styles of decades. Love the ceiling!(see my pic) And two really cool guys behind the bar. I honestly don’t remember their names. But they both made some fine drinks at reasonable prices. And by reasonable prices, I mean they are pretty much the same as everyone else nearby. I don’t really go out to bars much so I can’t tell you about the differences between the BLCC and the Loving Cup. But what I do know, is that I would enjoy coming back, especially for the menu they mentioned.
