Awful, horrible save your time and your money. If I could give NEGATIVE star I would. The owner should never be allowed to deal with the public! They screwed up my to go order, left half of it out and when I called they blamed me for there mistake and then said well, we are sorry what more do you want. How about this: My money back for what I did not receive because hell will freeze over before I return.

Huge sandwich? Not mine. I ordered a half Rueben with pastrami. It came with a sliver of a pickle(girth smaller than my pinky). On the plus side, I asked for sauerkraut on the side, light on the dressing, which they did gladly. I’m used to the East Coast version of a Rueben with a towering mound of salty, fatty goodness. Didn’t really get this here. It was a pretty small sandwich for about $ 8 unless you weren’t as hungry as I was. Not sure if the full version would be worth $ 12. I agree with others — the menu was on a huge wall that was hard to read and where to order was a bit confusing. There were a few high tops, but you couldn’t really sit there because people who were trying to read the menu were crowding there. I saw more than 1 or 2 customers walk in and then walk out — not sure why. Also, I agree with Robert S. The parking here is horrible. A very short entrance at a light, which only allows a handful of cars to exit at a time while on a busy day, you’ll have 3 or 4 cars waiting to get into the exit lanes.

First time I came here with a friend, the owner was short with us but extremely rude to a customer ahead of us. Fast forward 3 months to today. The young lady behind counter was nice but again the owner was so rude I decided I just can’t give them my business. Reading other reviews. Rudeness and poor customer service seems to be their thing… news flash. This is Reno… we like nice people. Next door the wrap place, Amazing food and amazing service!!!

Yum Yum! This place is a little hidden gem — I didn’t know much about it until a co worker told me to go try it out while I was in the area. The place has a great feel when you walk inside, its very«deli» style with red, black and white inside and has a glass window with lots of different pasta salads and what not. There is also a huge menu so you can pick really any type of sandwich you are craving hot or cold. The one that I tried was turkey, bacon, tomato, lettuce and mayo which was so delicious! The bread was honestly the best part of this sandwich it was cold and very refreshing! I really want to come back and try all their other sandwiches! I am not always a fan of hot sandwiches but I feel like this place will definitely do it right! I wasn’t in the place for very long so its hard to write a super long review on this but overall my experience with this little joint was very positive. Friendly staff, good food and loved the inside! I will be coming back to explore some more!

Ah Gandolfo’s…one of my first reviews on Unilocal and not at all useful. I absolutely love the sandwiches here, they are all delicious! They have two specials each day with two different types of their sandwiches, and you can get them with a side salad and a drink. I would love to say that I have a favorite sandwich but not one stands out as being better than another. They have a great military discount for active and retired military too(I think it’s 20%) since the owner is also military. They have also updated their menu so it’s not so cluttered and its 100% easier to read than it was before. Parking isn’t too bad once you get past the congestion at the light. They have a few tables and booths inside and when the weather’s nice, there are tables outside too.

Their ½ sandwich is very filling. A lot of bread and the bread is dry. The mustard potato salad way very delicious.

Im sorry to say this place has very good sandwiches but the customer service absolutely sucks. Theres one lady who works there and shes quick and efficient, but lemme tell ya shes rude. And to top it off one time when i went in there i ordered something and then had to come up to the counter to pick it up. Another guy walked up and right after he ordered she said dont worry sit down ill take your order to you. Well i get it. Hea probably a regular. I go there regularly too tho, maybe not as regularly as this guy but still. I think everybody should be treated the same wether there a regular or not. Plus there prices are really high, at least if ur gonna have high prices and you have delicious food you have to justify it with the cuatomer service somewhere. Like i said i love there food, but i dont like going to a place where somebodys trying to rush me and giving me short answers with an attitude like i should already know these things.

The food is awesome. The people behind the corner are typically short and rude, almost bothered you are making them make you a sandwich.

They have a brand new menu that they rolled out so I thought I would try something new. The Staten Island is to die for!!! Pesto and chicken and spinach– so delicious. I also tried their chocolate cake and it is no joke the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had. It’s right up on par as a dessert from a steakhouse. Go here and try the new menu– you won’t be disappointed!!! Just came back again to try the salad and get another piece of that delicious cake!!!

Understand that I come from NY City, and I am wary of any place that puts NY on anything they serve. I have high expectations if youre going to put my city’s name in your business’ name. That being said, here’s my review… The staff was nice. The service was quick. However, this is not a NY deli. The food was good, but not NY good. Pastrami sandwich and Nathan’s hot dog, with a side of patato salad. 1. Potato salad. Boring. Nothing to it. Not the worst, but far from spectacular. 2. Pastrami sandwich. Eh. Pastrami was fatty, and they used the wrong mustard. Pastrami is supposed to be meaty and thick. Coming from Brooklyn, I have expectations of anyone putting NY on their signage. I’ll repeat this over and over. 3. Saddest part was the«Nathan’s» hot dog. Disappointed. Don’t know if they even use Nathan’s brand dogs. And if they do, they should learn that Nathan’s hot dogs are grilled, not boiled. Nope, nope, nope. Not a Nathan’s dog in any way. Nothing resembling the hot dog I grew up with as a kid in Coney Island, where they originated. I make better Nathan’s hot dogs at home with store bought packs. Anyway, I’m a Brooklyn kid. I have expectations from a NY deli. I grew up in Jewish neighborhoods with deli meats that were phenomenal. Sorry, Gandolfo’s. Your food is pretty good, but way too expensive and not worth the price. If you have zero knowledge of NY deli food, this would probably be a great place to eat. However, if you’re a native NYer, don’t come here expecting a NY experience. You won’t find it. For $ 12, I want an amazing pastrami on rye. I didn’t get it. All in all, if they took NY out of the name and lowered their prices by about $ 5 per sandwich, this place could be great. But as it is, it’s a bad NY deli.

Would be 5 stars if the two young ladies that waited on us at 2:30 in the afternoon the day before Thanksgiving weren’t so rude when we first ordered. They both tried to make amends at the end of the transaction, but too little too late. The first impression was already made… not a favorable one either. We were informed in a very rushed and upset tone, as we made our order, that they were closing at 3:00. 30 minutes should be plenty of time to order up a few sandwiches I would have thought, but they both acted as if we came in at 5 minutes to 3. Jeesh!

The girl up front(black hair & shirt) was super awesome. Very helpful and was able to help me decide on something to eat. And there’s ALOT to choose from! The service was attentive and she was able to get the food out in a very timely manner.

Great food but we had to sit outside because it was too hot inside. They need to get this fixed. More stars if I could have eaten inside.

There is nothing wrong with this place, but it is not for me. It is an extensive menu which for me was difficult to read, but I am getting old. Those waiting to take the order and make it were all very friendly. So finally we decide what we want and order. The sandwiches came up quickly. I forget what we ordered but it was all fine and very messy, dripping all over the place. The pastrami was very tender, in fact perhaps a bit too tender and lacking in the flavor one expects of pastrami. I was also going to request it be made on rye as apposed to the loaf it comes on, but I noticed they use the dreaded two tone swirl rye and to me this is not rye. The bread it came on is just too much bread for me. I must say I was surprised it did not at least come with a pickle slice, but what the hell. Like I said at the beginning of this, everything was just fine, but not for me. Oh and by the way, those who clean should take a seat out in the customer area and take a look around. You all need a goof scrub, there was a lot of grunge that was not made in one day.

Tried Gandalfo’s for first time today and loved it. I had the Godfather and it was great. They have so many choices it was hard to pick so I will have to come back soon. The service was fast and very nice friendly. And the prices were very fair.

Fantastic sandwiches, and even some great hot dogs! The owners are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet, and since rescuing the restaurant from having been closed by the previous owner, they’ve done nothing but make this place one of my favorites. I just wish there were more of these stores so I could go there more often. Their sandwiches are rather big and fully stuffed. If you’re used to ordering, say, a 12″ sub from the chain stores, I suggest going smaller here … or you won’t be able to finish(unless you want the other half for dinner — great for night shifters!). I usually get the Dagwood, it’s piled up with assorted meats and veggies(just like the old Blondie newspaper cartoon husband, Dagwood, that would make huge midnight ‘snack’ sandos) … although they usually put spicy mustard on it, I ask for ordinary yellow. Their pastrami is awesome as well as their ginormous, tasty hot dogs. I forget the name, but they have a Thanksgiving-like sandwich as well, that you should try, with turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, etc. Incredible. Also, their rueben is quite yummy, probably second only to The Flowing Tide’s. Side salads are awesome. I prefer the broccoli and cheese one, myself. The macaroni salad is sometimes just a little on the heavy side for mayo, but not outrageously so. Oh, and military members get a discount. Absolutely love this place. If there’s a line, don’t sweat it, it goes quickly and is totally worth the wait!

We have been here numerous times over the years, and I think there has been numerous owners over the years too. The place serves sizable sandwiches and hot dogs. You know, Deli type food with more of a Sandwich place set up. They do have a number of cold salad selections too. The last time we came in, the family was distracted by the new place next door. So they went next door and I picked up the Second City Dog and a Regular Hot Dog for my daughter. Nathans dogs. Just good simple dogs. Parking is HORRID here. Prices are average they have two sizes for the sandwiches roughly $ 7 and $ 11 for each size but they have some really good daily specials dropping the price.

Great food. Great service. I had the«King of Queens»: Pastrami, Swiss cheese, tomato, cole slaw, Russian dressing. Fantastic. It was massive. The prices were reasonable. There was plenty of seating. The setting was very casual. The employees were very polite and knowledgeable. They helped me decide on a menu item, because I had no idea what I wanted. They were upbeat and made friendly conversation. They checked in with me to insure that I enjoyed my meal. They encouraged me to return, and I felt welcome there. This was one of the best casual dining experiences I have had.

December 8, 2012 Saturday — lunch 2:00PM 2 adults Atmosphere — 4 stars Food — 5 stars Service — 4 stars Background — Again picked a restaurant and it was closed this time it was Pita Pita, so we ended up a Gandolfo’s. Atmosphere — The place was hoping for 2 pm, we were lucky to get a dirty table. The dirty part did mind as it was just crumbs. But it is this stupid huge sticker on the center of the table that was coming off. The place is small and not many tables inside and a few outside too. Food Appetizer — none today. Main Course — Well they have their sandwiches broken down by time. I saw Roast Beef and I was clued to that area. Can you tell I love that stuff? It was one of my favorite meals my mom would cook for me as a kid. I went with the Coney Island Gyro, gotta love the word Gyro. Very good! My wife and the Knuckle sandwich, which is a Pastrami one and I stole a bite, and loved that one. I wish I had that as my sandwich. Dessert — none needed for lunch. Service — Cashier was friendly and she called out our name clearly. I will put this here as menu board kinda falls under service. A lot sandwiches have the word hot after them, my wife thought that was spicy and not a hot sandwich like it was intended to mean. Future — Sure they got some good sandwiches.
