They are open. If they were closed, it has changed. Saw a Willie K concert there in Dec 2012. Walked in near show time and got great seats up front. Are there bad seats? It is a little place with a very intimate feel — good for small bands. Food and plentiful parking nearby. Give it a try. Note: it is now called«Club Fox.»

The Little Fox Theater is alive and well, just renamed to Club Fox. It is STILL a great small, intimate venue, where every seat in the house is good. Going there next Sunday for an Amy Winehouse Tribute concert. Yay!!!

The Little Fox has been shut down for over a year — the prior owners and everything that was once in the building is no longer part of it. The web on Unilocal is wrong. The proper web is
Besides the name change to Club Fox, many other things have changed –like a state of the art Meyer Digital system, larger modular stage, rectangular truss with killer lighting, multiple plasmas, a digital projector, vip rooms, improved bar and a killer staff. We also moved the sound board out of the center of the dance floor. We(I say that because I own it) plan to offer much more diverse programming which will include underserved populations, dance events, Broadway, comedy and speakers. We still have many things to improve on, everything cost money and takes time. We appreciate positive people who want to help this community keep one of its few music venues alive. We are dedicated to doing exactly that. We encourage you to come to the venue and experience a live show and we look forward to the constant evolution of this venue.

My one true love. A cool, down to earth theatre/bar with Wednesday Night live blues music. Heart! I lived walking distance from the little fox and went to the blues jams every single week(Hey, a girl’s gotta get her blues right?) They had sometimes 2 or 3 bands and sometimes would include customers in jam sessions! How freakin cool is that? The music was good, as blues always is and the bar service was great too. I am convinced that every city needs a wednesday night blues jam. I haven’t been here for a few years and I’m sad to hear the it has changed so much. I would love to get back down there and check it out again though!

This place use to be The Little Fox Theater, but now is called Club Fox. I’ve been to The Little Fox many times and loved it, but now under new ownership and management I’m not so sure. They are trying to make it this hip and modern type of club. This place has an upstairs and downstairs. The upstairs has two little room-like places with cream leather chairs and couches.(Before they were red velvet) The pool table is gone which is fine since no one ever played it. They put up yellow crossing tape across the nooks. So as a patron if you want to use that area you have to pay for it, but they bring the bottles of alcohol to you. They have also bumped up the security staff. There was two upstairs alone. Mind you that the upstairs is actually quite small as it is so to add one to two more people that just stand there cuts into the already limited space, plus never mind that they are just standing there. I mean come-on, this is a Led Zepplin tribute band that we are seeing, not Slipknot. Also, I’m not sure if it was the club’s equipment or the band’s equipment, but the sound was shotty. A couple times it took a bit for the right sound for the guitars to be adjusted correctly, while most of the time you could barely hear the singer over the music itself. The band usually does a very good job themselves, but they did have a new guy who has only been with them for two months. I tend to think this is more the Club’s fault.

At the ‘Club Fox’ last night… return of the Redwood City Blues Jam. The first one since the ‘Little Fox’ closed the doors almost a year ago. Great show… Daniel Castro was fantastic. I’m glad this venue is back… long live the Wednesday night Blues Jam! Blues Jam website:

I’ve only been to the Little Fox twice since it has been open. This is primarily because the wife and I prefer quiet evenings at a restaurant and/or a movie, and our evenings out are pretty limited. The other reason is the Little Fox seems to specialize in music I don’t normally seek out: country, blues, jazz, tribute bands, and local cover bands, most of whom I’ve never heard of. If they had more indie rock, alternative rock, bluegrass, or Celtic music, I would be here A LOT more often. But I can’t really ding them for their lineup. They promote a lot of local bands, and so far they have been pretty successful at it. Plus I love the idea of having a live music option in Redwood City. The venue is very small and cozy with both an upstairs and downstairs. Though I normally like to be on level with the band, I much prefer the upstairs at the Little Fox, which feels more intimate and less crowded(other people do too, so get there early to grab a spot). Plus they have a separate bar up here too. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is on tap, so my beer box is always checked. The last band I saw here was«Molly’s Revenge», a local Celtic band. They put on a wonderful show and the intimate venue was perfect for them. Unfortunately the Little Fox seems to always close before midnight, even on a weekend, so no carousing into the wee hours. At least there are now some other nearby options in Redwood City for just that.

I’ve lived in this area for a year now and I can’t believe I waited this long to come here! I’ve been missing out. Tickets are very reasonably priced. Most convenient, buy online and pick up at will call. I recently saw the band Luce play and it was such an excellent show. This theater is comfortably spacious with balcony seating. This theater has a very chill vibe and I think that’s what I like the most. Get here early if you want to have a decent view of the stage. There are two bars conveniently located on both floors. Restrooms on both floors as well and were surprisingly clean considering. The downtown location is ideal with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Grab a bite and drink before the show and you have yourself one delightfully entertaining night! Looking forward to seeing The Sun Kings play here soon!

Came with a group of friends to see Zoo Station( ) and I really, really enjoyed this venue. It’s not huge but I loved the second level, where there are some little hide-away rooms with couches and stuff where our entire group was able sit together and talk and take pictures before the band came on. A bar upstairs and a bar downstairs was really convenient. The only thing I would suggest to the management is a little more restroom maintenance… they were pretty gross.

Took my Aussie friend on Wed and we sat through 3 sets, the last was the best with a singer who belted out Kansas City and Change, Change, Change. My West Coast Swing buddy loved it, he doesn’t have Live blues clubs in Australia but he will when he visits Chicago and Philly. Got there around 7:30pm and got great seats on the first floor near the stage but got packed around 8:45pm. There are occasional announcements and solicting money during the set to give to the tip jar for the performers, not too annoying since you are getting great blue and a nice venue.

Stumbled into this place looking for something that was open after 10pm on a Tuesday night. And we definitely found a place in the Little Fox! No cover, and a rocking good band was in the middle of their set. I don’t know if they were local, but the singer, doing some rocktastic blues, was phenomenal and very high energy for that part of the week. Then they closed at 11:30pm. That was sad, but it also meant that I had no chance of missing my train, so I loved that. The Little Fox is a reason in and of itself to go to Redwood City. But if you find yourself there, or with friends unwittingly(read: I thought you live in San Francisco!) visiting you, the Little Fox is a fantastic place to go. They have good bands even late on weekdays.

Check out the Wednesday night free blues jam. It is a lot of fun… and free. Yes, it is for sure populated by the older crowd but I’m young and still enjoy it. It would be great to see more young people on the dance floor. I am on the mailing list. I get an email once a month listing all of the upcoming bands. Sometimes there will be a gem on the list like Dark Star Orchestra, Jerry Garcia Band, The Waybacks. The majority of the acts are cover bands. Still a good time though. Check it out… great little place to see some popular names!

I’m a big fan of this tiny venue. Average audience sizes are only 100 – 150 people. I’ve seen Hawaiian slack key guitar, comedy, all manner of cover bands(Evolution, Stung, Aja Vu, House of Floyd) and rock/blues bands like Luce and Tommy Castro here. I continually walk away impressed after nearly every performance. I think is is because many of the performers also warm up to a smaller crowd better in intimate settings like the Little Fox. The best part of the venue is the proximity and access to performers and the excellent acoustics, you are literally only 5 – 25 feet away from the performers and for an audiophile like me, the sound is so crisp and clean that you can hear every nuance(good and bad) of the performances. The vibe is also very relaxed, probably because the crowd is typically older subdued suburbanites. Now that they have nearly completed the downtown renovations, RWC had become a nice spot to spend an evening. There are a bunch of decent restaurants that have also popped up in the past few years, within a few blocks, and Beard Papa stays open for late desserts. The ticket prices are also reasonable($ 10-$ 20) depending upon the performer(a couple of dollars cheaper if you get tickets in advance at the box office) and they usually have a WED night Blues jam that is free! They have two bars but sometimes don’t run the one on the second floor if the show doesn’t have a large crowd. Service is good. There are some downsides. The chairs are the cheap wooden kind that are uncomfortable for someone like me without much padding on their gluteus maximus. Also if you sit on the second floor, your view is obstructed by the metal railing. In addition, increasing area popularity sometimes means parking 4 – 5 blocks away to find a spot, and the parking is no longer free. Although, this is a small price to pay for such excellent performances at bargain basement prices.

Kinda a pain to get to, since I’m in Santa Rosa, but I have been here more than a time or two to rock out with the Cheese Balls, Miggs etc. They have a great line up — and the venue is fantastic. If you live closer to the area, and haven’t been — make this a regular spot, you’ll fall in love too.

I cannot believe that I have lived in this area for most of my life and the first time I came here was last night. I saw Tainted Love which might be the greatest 80’s cover band ever, The crowd was cool, the music great and it was pretty easy to get drinks. I love the fact that there is a dance floor and plenty of table to accommodate weary dancing feet and a place to put your drink. I am getting on the mailing list for this venue for sure!

We were walking around the new and improved Downtown Redwood City because we arrived early for Red Lantern. Most of the restaurants were pretty empty, even for 7pm on a weekday. I heard some wonderful live blues as we neared Little Fox. And when we realized there was no cover, there was no excuse not to stop in for a drink. I loved this place! Great live music. And an enthusiastic crowd, that made me feel young. Yeah, they were older, but in the«I’m not posing, I’m not trying to be seen, I’m just here to enjoy some blues, dance and have a good time.» way. Everyone can learn a little from that.

What a great venue! I made the trek down to Redwood City last night to see Glen Phillips with a group of friends and must say that I was quite impressed with the acoustics and the intimacy of this venue. My initial thought was that people would being making a lot of noise at the bar but the crowd was attentive and respectful to the artist(that never happens at Slims!) Five big stars for booking one of my favorite performers… I won’t hesitate to return to the Little Fox for another show.
