I came for the Beach Boy concert recently. I’ve seen the theater and have walked outside it and have never been inside. Well, I got to go inside finally. What a wonderful old theater this is. It appears kept up well. All the old fashioned décor looks great. You go in and in front of you are two stairways on either side that lead to an overhang over the first floor lobby. Very tasteful. Once upstairs there is a small lobby where they sell refreshments. And the restrooms on either side walls. Then up more stairs(2) and you are in the theater. As you can tell I was in the balcony. My view was okay, I brought along my binoculars anyway and used them frequently. I didn’t see anyone else with binoculars. Seats were small and legroom was pretty non existent. My husband is 6ft and it was tight. But he was expecting this since it was an older theater and people were smaller way back then. Otherwise seats were okay but floors sticky. Drinks were allowed into the theater and many people had them. I’m not an expert and the acoustics and lighting were fine. I heard the songs and the lighting was fine, I saw the band singing and playing their instruments. But I am expert on the ladies restroom since I use them alot! At intermission, THEREWASNOLINE! ! I’m amazed, since the audience was basically not from the younger generation and were older. But I didn’t mind. I thought there were not very many stalls but I guess there were enough. Restroom was colorful and equipped with enough tp and paper towels. Overall and very nice older theater with tight seating. Yes, if there is a performance you want to go to, go ahead and go, but be prepared for balcony seating to have little foot room

Nice theater, good place to see a show. Not sure why the box office is always so rude and surly. The people there always seem to be upset about something. When I purchase my tickets for a show, they act like they are doing me some huge favor and give an attitude. The other night, I witnessed someone working the ticket window curse at a customer, and send them to the back of the line as some sort of punishment for asking a question. The guy in front of me walked up to the window, stated that he was picking up will call tickets, and asked if there were additional tickets available. For some reason, the box office employee became extremely upset that the customer wasn’t aware that the show was sold out. There were no signs showing it was sold out. He said something like«can’t you see the show is sold out, f***er?» go to the back of the line and wait for the other window. I like that I can buy tickets at the box office and avoid fees, but always have to go with the expectation that there are extremely unhappy people working there. Also, they don’t like people hanging out outside near the palm tree after the show. We were yelled ta multiple times by security guards who were moving gates to the front of the theater as they were closing up. We were no where close to being in their way, yet they came through waiving arms and yelling for everyone«to get the f*** out of the way.» The sound was way too loud up close, sounded terrible. Under the balcony, the sound is not good.

Lameness on their part in not notifying their A La Carte patrons that you couldn’t get in until 9:00 pm when the show says it starts at 8pm! Come on guys those Silicon Valley fat cats couldn’t be so selfish! I hating Silicon Valley right now!

Warning: The leg room in balcony is a joke. Would have had to get a refund if we didn’t poach empty seats in the Mezzanine. I’m average height and wouldn’t have been able to feel my feet after 10 minutes sitting in the balcony! Sound was good. Lighting production was amateurish.

The Fox Theater kindly offered me a credit for a future show when I showed up at the wrong time for the performance! That is incredible customer service

I really love going there. It’s right in the middle of everything, outdoor concerts, indoor concerts, lots of fun activities all around. The theater is beautiful. They have good shows, especially Broadway by the Bay’s musicals. We thought it was too cold downstairs, so we changed our seats to upstairs, and we love it. Very comfortable, good seating. They have a great bar, but their snacks could use some cookies or brownies or cakes. They let you bring food and drink into the theater! I love that.

My Fair Lady Sadly, poor performance Prof. Higgins. No timing or comedy from this show. Only Freddy and Mrs. Higgins were superior. Need a better cast and a much better director. I mean really, how many servants need to clean a study. Sorry guys. Love the Fox, not the show.

We have attended a beautiful Lebanese star singer concert at this place and it was really wonderful, I wish it was a little bit more organized I think the place needs a little remodeling and updating but for the most part it’s very decent I would come here again

I don’t know how I’ve lived just a few miles from here for my whole life and never been to the Fox Theater. I came here super last minute for a Chinese acrobatics show and it was incredible! The Fox Theater website made it easy to buy tickets and pick them up at will call. The website is really organized and simple to use. After will call, there was a small concession stand with popcorn, sodas, and candy. My only issue was that on the first floor there was a full restroom for men and a single stall for women. not cool!

I’ve been here numerous times to see concerts and I will admit this theater is part of the reason why I keep coming back! The interior is absolutely gorgeous… even the ceilings are worked of art! The best quality has to be the seats. they are ample and are not squished together. Each seat has a air vent underneath it, so you keep nice and cool. They really did a fantastic job renovating this theater a few years ago. I just love it here! The staff had always been top notch as well.

Usually come here for the Broadway by the Bay performances. Its a beautiful classic vintage theater thats slowly showing its age but the owners do their best to upkeep it. They have bar facilities on both floors but only the 1st floor is typically manned and equipped. The Fox has improved a lot since I first started coming here. They’re investing in better seats and they’re almost done replacing all of them. The front rows are all fold-up chairs which are less comfortable than the regular seats. But this is due to the open front design for dance performances. They are investing in better seats to address this complaint.

I attended my sister-in-law’s hula performance at the Fox Theatre last Saturday night. Overall it is a beautiful theatre. We bounced around a number of different seats in the balcony and we ended up in two seats in the center aisle but any of the seats would have been fine and provided a decent view of the stage. Two things that stick out about Saturday night… There is absolutely NO leg room! I am only 5’6′ and my knees literally were pushed up against the back of the seat in front on me(this went for all the seats we moved to). It was such a tight squeeze any time anyone wanted to pass we just scooted out of the row and waited on the stairs while they passed and scooted again when they would return to their seats. Way too close for comfort to remain in your seat when someone is trying to get to the restroom or grab a beverage. The next thing was my box office experience. While the lady behind the counter was very helpful and polite to me, a young woman approached while she was running my credit card for my ticket purchase and before she could even say anything, the lady straight up raised her and in the girls face(we’re talking some 3rd grade«talk to the hand cuz the face don’t give a d*mn» ish), didn’t bother to look up at her and said«you need to wait». She handed me my receipt and then looked to the girl and asked how she could help her. The young woman then meekly asks if this is the location to pick up Will Call tickets. Clearly the employee is not able to multitask and if you’re in a customer service position I would call that a receipe for disaster. It sure left a bad taste in my mouth and her poor attitude wasn’t even directed at me.

Been here a few different times(once with some Unilocal tickets, others on my own). On the positive side, they host a wide range of concerts and shows here… everything from«Broadway by the Bay» productions, Peninsula Ballet Theatre, the Peninsula Symphony Orchestra, to Tainted Love, the 80’s cover band. It’s really cool that such a venue exists right in downtown Redwood City. It’s the one thing downtown San Mateo really lacks: A great, consistent place for live performances.(Yes, there are venues throughout SM, but not downtown, near all the restaurants and such.) Sound is not bad. Been here for more formal performances as well as Tainted Love, and in all cases it was just fine. Seating, however, is «OK.» The area towards the front of the stage actually has no permanent seats — so if you come in for a concert of the more formal variety, you’ll be sitting on folding chairs. Towards the rear, however, are the more permanent, true«theatre seats.» They are not bad, but you will be further away from the action. The lobby is nice — very«vintage» — but because the bar is smack-dab in the lobby, it means the line for beverages basically takes up the area right in front of the entrance to the hall, and it’s difficult to get to and from the bathrooms.(Speaking of: the bathroom is really tiny, and there’s generally a long line for that as well.) Will have to return once the seat renovation project is complete.

First off I want to give thanks to Unilocal for hooking me up with some sweet tickets to the Peninsula Symphony show! I had never been to this theatre before and that’s because I usually never travel to RWC. As soon as I walked in it reminded me of the California Theatre in Downtown San Jose. It looks old but with very nice detail. This was the best part of the whole theatre There is lower and upper level seating. We sat up top and had a great view. Seems like in the lower level they have fold up chairs and up top they have set seating. I must say that the seats closer to the balcony are much nicer. Try to sneak into these if you can They had an old school set up in the restroom. They had the old urinal tub looking things where you just pee in the open. They also had two other stall. The Staff is really nice here. They open the door for you when you arrive and when you leave. Very nice people at will call too! I will definitely look and see what other shows are coming to this theatre in the future

What a treat when the Peninsula Symphony Orchestra and Quartet San Francisco performed Tango! The musical performance was superb and the two talented dancers were amazing. The Fox Theatre I have to say is very old school but I like every aspect of it. It has two levels where the first level has the stage and the main seating. This place also got a full bar and a popcorn machine! Thank you Unilocal for providing me with these tickets! I’m already looking forward to March and May when the Peninsula Symphony Orchestra will bring it again performing Brahms and Beethoven pieces.
