Always outstanding service. Great food and excellent margaritas. Opens at 5pm and fill up fast. It has a very nice interior and don’t forget the nachos! If you have space the vanilla flan is nest I’ve ever had.

We’ve come here a few times now. The food is tasty though a bit expensive. I would say it is a comfort food, very homey. Watch out for their margaritas — they are REALLY strong. Another reviewer complained about the cost compared to other places but these actually have tequila in them and you would taste it _and_feel it. Service is OK. The restaurant can get quite busy dinner time and there is often a wait if you come later.

Little pricey but has good food and great service… the beer on tap is nice and cold… if you are not sure about what sauce to try ask them and they will bring you a sample tray

2.5 stars. Came here for a company lunch and ordered the camarones a la diabla(gulf shrimp sauteed with Chardonnay, garlic, herbs, olive oil, and red crushed peppers). We also ordered a side of guac to share. The guac was good and lime was extremely prominent. a little too prominent for me. I liked the addition of some fresh tomatoes, though there was not a lot. As for my own dish, the shrimp was OK. I probably had like 6 pieces in a boat bowl and the rest of the dish was honestly onions and peppers. There were HELLA onions and if you know me, I do not like onions at all. Definitely comprised at least 50% of the bowl it came in with the shrimp. However, I did like the rice. Kind of sad that the highlight of my meal was the rice. While the service was good, the food is what will keep me from coming back.

Apparently, this is the epic big deal holy sh! t industrial loft version of Sol on Cal Ave in Palo Alto. As you probably know by now, there are two famous sauces here: the orange one(guajillo) and the brown one(mole), and they serve a version of pretty much anything on the menu«al sol» which delivers it with said duo of famous sauces. I was ready to tell you that you should skip the mole and just do the guajillo, but I take it back because I learned something unexpected through unplanned experiment: guajillo is best fresh and the mole is best as leftovers the next day. I have no idea why this is. Their tortilla soup is called«Sopa Azteca» and is effing fantastic on a cold winter’s night. Also if you haven’t had Victoria beer from Mexico before, it’s excellent, and they have it on draft here.

I can’t fathom bad service here, they checked on us more then even needed, and very friendly. I have visited the sister restaurant vive sol in mountain view and knew I had to try this one too. It is similar, not exactly the same but still delicious. Can’t go wrong with any margarita The pollo negro was tasty and enchiladas are awesome. Worth the stop after a show at the theatre.

Our waiter was Angel. He is THEMAN! Ask for him if you go. Great service, great food, great environment. Perfect place for a double date(like we did) or quick dinner before a movie.

Their margaritas are definitely superior to a place right down the street, which ironically is named after the drink. We got here during the dinner rush and had some time to kill while we waited for a table so we sat at the bar and ordered a couple of drinks. They are generous with the amount of the margaritas and they had some interesting flavors to try. The food itself was also super tasty and the service was efficient and friendly. Would definitely come back.

Seriously some of the best soupa Azteca out there! Meaty, spicy, tons of white chicken breast, fresh avocado and the broth is so damn good I almost picked up the bowl and drank it.(Not very lady like, this I know!) I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious spicy margarita! I wasn’t going to have one but a friend did so I had to try it! I ended up ordering one for myself and drinking my friends too! I only give 4 stars because I’m not a fan of their(what I think is) packaged guacamole. Other than that, I’m a fan and will be back. Yes, they serve Diet Coke but with spicy margaritas who needs Diet Coke!

This review is only for the drinks and chips. Margarita is good. Wine is good. However the drinks are kind of pricey for redwood city. The chips were super good though. I couldn’t stop eating it. The only thing I noticed as I got my wine that my glass still had soap residue or some markings. Service was good though. This place could be very packed so we had to wait a couple of minutes for two seats by the bar. I would have to come back and try the food to provide recos on food.

My husband and I went here on a Friday night. They don’t take reservations on Fridays. We found a spot at the bar and enjoyed drinks and dinner there. Great atmosphere! Loved the décor. Drinks were good. We ordered the ceviche for an app. It’s OK. Large pieces of fish and missing the citrus flavors though. We both ordered a chicken dish… both very good. Service was really good at the bar… We would go back.

All two times I’ve been here, it was only for some drinks on the bar. The drinks are good, the atmosphere is very nice. The restaurant is beautifully designed and it’s always clean. The service was always fast and friendly. If you come early for a movie and don’t want to smell like popcorn, come have a drink here while you wait

Start with a delicious, HUGE, glass of Sangria — and of course everything after is mah-valous! Seriously, we’ve eaten here several times, my DH adores their mole sauce, and while I don’t care for spicy hot food, the servers are always able to help me find something delicious, I’ve had a different dish every time. We’ve never had dessert, being too full, but have had many other items on their extensive menu and there hasn’t been anything that didn’t live up to expectations. The décor is beautiful, creative and unusual. The atmosphere casually dressy. And surprisingly, it is often easy to get a table at the last minute. The only downside is how noisy it is, not a place for someone with hearing aids.

I have always loved coming here! The food is divine! Flavorful, fresh and oh my goodness don’t get me started on their drinks. Wow! It’s about time Redwood City had a restaurant that had quality food AND drinks. My favorite is the Picante margarita. a must try! Staff is very hospitable, attentive, courteous and always eager to help. Décor is very clean, modern, trendy and has a great all around vibe. Definitely a place worth checking out if you already haven’t.

Ambience here is right on point with bright lights and good music. A lively atmosphere for a late Friday night dinner. We decided to skip the drinks(plenty of margarita options though) and get the main course. I got the spinach & cheese enchilada with the guajillo sauce and thought it was very average. My husband got the chicken enchilada with verde sauce. He thought his was decent. For the $ 15 price tag, I would expect a minimum of good food and Quinto Sol didn’t cut it.

Been to Quinto Sol a couple times but only for drinks. Had a chance to grab lunch with a coworker and had a very good meal. Food: I’ve enjoyed many meals at Palo Alto Sol, so I already know what I like at this Puebla-inspired restaurant. Chips with three types of salsa to start the meal always works for me. My go-to order is the Sopa Azteca, which is a chicken-tortilla soup with a chipotle-seasoned broth and avocado. On this visit I tried the Chilpachole De Mariscos, a seafood soup that has whitefish, bay shrimp, prawns, corn, avocado, zucchini, carrots, onions, and a tasty chicken broth. Huge portion and every spoonful was great. My friend had the enmoladas, which was three corn tortillas filled with veggies and smothered in mole sauce. She really enjoyed her lunch as well. Service: Good service. I see that in other reviews people don’t get great service at busy times. Too bad to hear that, but I suppose sometimes you have to manage your own expectations. We arrived early so beat the lunch rush. Food did take a bit longer than I expected to hit the table, but I wasn’t in a rush so it didn’t matter. Vibe: Modern-Puebla-Chic. A beautiful dining room that is still very cozy, I think. As evidenced by the many well-dressed suburban professionals in the place at lunchtime, it seems like a happening spot even at lunch. Family-friendly: Haven’t been to too many Mexican restaurants that aren’t family-friendly, and Quinto Sol is no different. You can get fancy or happy-hour-like if you want, but you could also grab a good drink while the kids grab a taco or burrito. Didn’t see a kids menu per se but you can get by without one here. Summary: Happy to have an extension of Palo Alto Sol in RWC. Great dining room, and all my favorites are on the menu. There are so many places to get great Mexican food in town, but Quinto Sol is my go-to spot for a great margarita and a bowl of seafood soup.

Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5 Cleanliness: 4 «I want those fish tacos again. It’s been a long time… maybe two years, will you join me?» He says«Sure. Looks like a cool place.» We arrive. All I remembered from before the last time I was here two years prior, was that their fish tacos were surprisingly phenomenol. I also drank heavily the times I dined here before and slurped their wide variety of margaritas down with vigor, each visit. I had high expectations I suppose, with a foggy memory of what was good or bad. I walked in this visit with a lot more clarity and sobriety and absolutely no plans to drink. The ups– the interior is fancy. It’s a piece of artwork on it’s on. Check out the bar that lights up with marble and stone. Check out the large metal artwork hanging indoors. Take a look at all the details in design… it’s appealing and if you appreciate that sort of thing, it just may put you in awe. This place is lively– people coming and going. birthdays, get togethers, boisterous laughing, loud vibe overall, sexy singles and couples enjoying themselves by the bar. It’s alive and exhilirating to be a part. especially in the summer time around here in Redwood City. The downs– Waitstaff is crazy busy. Don’t expect to get any sort of personalized experience here. Sometimes it can take a while for them to welcome you after you have been sat. It’s hectic and you’re going to get your food with a light toss and polite smile as they move on. The food quality seems to have changed. The fish tacos I had two years ago were gone, some new, lower grade version has moved in. Proportions were off, and the sauce and condiments were piled on top. It was okay, but not all I was raving about to my friend who I corralled to come along. I was slightly disappointed, but he loved his burrito and margarita(s), so it wasn’t a complete fail. Would I return? If I drank, yes, for drinks; but I don’t drink these days… so… I think you know the answer! (Probably not). I hope your experience turns out better than mine! Enjoy!

If there is a zero I would have given it today. I am a long standing customer and local business owner of a hotel. I have never had this much bad service as I did today. I suggest this place all the time to my customers but NEVER again. We walked in at 5:30. Place was empty. The owner Helena comes to table first thing and says that with a large like ours 15 people we needed to call ahead and place a fixed order. We have been told in past that there are no reservations can be made. Ok then why did you seat us to begin with? Next thing you know a Mexican family comes though with almost the same number of people and nothing is said to them is said. My cousin went to ask for the next table and it did not have to be right by us but since there was three more coming just to get a table ready. She told my cousin that we should just leave. I went to her to speak to her and waited politely. She past me several times and finally got to me five minuted later. I may look Indian but little did she know that my family lived in Panama for thirty plus years. I understand what she said under her breath. «Besa mi cu! o Punt@! Rough translation Kiss my A$$ you female dog! She when it say that we where cheap people in English because some of the girls in our party wanted to share their plates. At this point we had already ordered a round of drink guacamole, salads and heavy appetizers. So most of girls were not very hungry. I told her that I recommend this place to a lot of hotel guest and that she should reconsider her attitude. When I asked her what is the problem. She said there are three servers working on our table there was only one. I asked her what is the difference since that same waiter is getting the same amount money as three tables if not more. I really don’t see the issue since all orders are where placed one person in our party and it was not a difficult order. We have came before and they said that reservations can not be made. Make up your mind Helena(Owner). Her attitude is if you don’t like then too bad so sad LEAVE. We left feeling really disrespected. I told her we are leaving and to top it off she gave us a tab of $ 300 for drinks and appetizers!!! We are not cheap people so we paid the bill. I really hope that this does not happen to you. It is just her indian guests that she is racist towards.

Came here on a friend’s recommendation before catching a movie across the street. It’s a lively place(especially on a Friday night). We shared a giant plate of nachos covered in beans, cheese, and guacamole. I had the shrimp enchiladas, which were pretty good. We had the vanilla flan for dessert, which may have been our favorite part of the meal.

I like this place. However, like much of the Bay area, it would seem, it is just on the other side of too pricey for what ya get. The food is solidly good, but I wouldn’t say most of the dishes I’ve had here are particularly interesting — the exception being the Lomo de Cerdo — which is very interesting, tasty and consistently great. Sopa Azteca — not as good as the Palo Alto Sol one. Not sure what’s up. Often not as flavorful, and a few times they’ve skimped on the ingredients(a $ 16 big bowl of broth is supremely lame.) Camarones al Cilatro, Carne Asada plate — Good, but nothing to write home about. Meaning, food is cooked well, but overly simple. And I love simple food. But it all feels like stuff I could(and do) cook myself at home. So for $ 18-$ 20 per plate, I wouldn’t go *out* for the food here unless I was craving(and willing to pay for) the ambiance. Which happens once every few months. I give them 4 stars because although the food is about 3.5, and the price is too high, I still enjoy going here. I dig the ambiance, which feels like a cross between Moorish and modern. The lighting is particularly fun. The service is also consistently great. The food isn’t the star here, in my opinion, but that’s ok, because it’s consistently good, even if it’s not great.

Come here very often due to the great Margaritas called Diosas! Lots of tequila, lots of flavor and the staff is great. Food is fresh, on time and the prices are reasonable. The portions are huge, be ready to eat for 2 or 3 people for one plate. The only downside is the parking. As you know downtown Redwood City is small for parking but so worth it when you enjoy a meal or a cocktail at this great restaurant.

Come here for happy hour. Get a pint of those tasty margaritas. Add a coupe of small bites in the mix. Share, eat, and enjoy. You’ll have a good time once the drinks start kicking in. Great ambiance, great service, and great for big groups/parties. I hope you give this place a try. Cheers!
