So it dawned on me that I wanted to go grey! Or at least my lower tips, and well I really didn’t have clue where to go. Naturally I asked my mom and insisted if I was going to be «drastic» I must go with her stylist Paula. At a glance the shop look like a hole in the wall nothing special. Their true gems are the stylist! They genuinely will care for your hair. Paula was worried because of my dark hair the color I wanted wasn’t going to show and didn’t want the bleach to ruin my hair. Welp she told me straight forward I would have to be patient but that she would get my desires color without ruining it, and that she did!

Margarita is amazing! I have thick curly hair that a lot of people don’t know how to deal with, but Margarita always does an amazing job for only $ 20! I’ve been coming to her for about 3 years now. I usually call her the morning I want to come in and make an appointment for the same day, but I have also walked in, without making an appointment, and she has been able to take me within 15 minutes.

I was coming home from work on a monday and I was looking for an inexpensive salon to get a trim. I found this place right on my way home. First of all they are open till 8pm which is great because i do not want to take time out of my day for a haircut. They took me right away. The man who trimmed my hair was very nice and asked lots of questions to make sure that he knew what I wanted and he did exactly what I asked. The place is not trendy, its a small inexpensive salon and it looks that way, and he trimmed my hair really fast, but did exactly what I wanted for 20 $, it was great! I actually prefer not getting my hair washed at the hair salon!

Alright, so I am guilty of having my hair cut maybe once a year? I don’t know how often your suppose to have it trimmed but I’ve heard the standard is 6 months & well I was well over due having moved to RWC from San Francisco I have been so hesitant to try ANY beauty services out here so when I friend recommended this place and by recommend I mean had to push me through the door LOL with my wedding date approaching quickly I was even more skeptical about having a total stranger touch my hair! We went in there was only one lady there, an older women, Margarita, my friend went first to ease me into my experience the lady was so nice making conversation and I felt a little more relaxed so eventually she finished & she had an apt so she had to take the apt before she would get to me she apologized but little did she know I didn’t mind at all since I get to check out her work with 2 people before she would touch my hair LOL so finally my turn came and I told her to cut about 3 inches off and layer it fix my bangs and use the thinning scissors to thin my very thick hair & she did just that OMG this lady has magic hands ! she takes her time and does an amazing job for $ 20 =0 I know so inexpensive so I inquired about other services Keratin treatment $ 35, styling for my wedding day $ 55 I will definitely go back before my wedding to get the keratin treatment and will update my review !

I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten the best haircut I’ve had in years here. Maria did an amazing job shaping my hair just the way I wanted it and it’s the perfect length. I’ll definitely be coming back here, even if Redwood City is a little off the beaten path for me.

Okay, I knew the day would come when my cover would be blown so here it is. Now I’m coming clean so don’t say that I was misleading you at the Unilocaler Parties(In case I ever go to one!) I DON’T LIVEINSANFRANCISCOANYMORE! Yes world, I’m not hip, cool or a rebel. Nope, I’ve resorted to the safety and somewhat ho hum, existence of the Peninsula! I only work in San Francisco and hang out there but the rest of the time I have to function and do my errands and stuff in San Carlos. Don’t get me wrong all of you San Carlans, it’s a pretty town but it’s not my first choice(I moved there to help care for my father.) But guess what? It’s not bad. I’m sort of adapting and finding my spots. I’ve found a good local music shop where I can get my guitar strings, a good burrito place, and lots of small shops within walking distance of my place. Styling Cuts in Redwood city is one of them. Okay so this one is a good 15 minute walk but I’ve actually done it once! I’ve been going to get my haircut here for about two years. I started going as a cost cutting measure. I liked the staff here, they are very friendly and do a nice job of giving me the cut I ask for. Magaly is my regular stylist but have also had my hair cut by Marianna. The price is fair $ 15 for men(cut, shampoo & style). I don’t know if I’m cheap but I usually tip about $ 5. It’s not the trendiest place but it’s clean and well maintained. When my budget is a little higher and I’m looking to try something new, I go to my old stylist and pay about double the price. Once I’m comfortable with that style, I go back to Styling Cuts and show them what I want. It’s right across the street(busy El Camino Real) from Sequoia Station(Safeway, Fresh Choice, Old Navy, Barnes & Noble) and just 1 block from Whole Paycheck, oops Whole Foods. So you can run some errands if you have to wait for your turn. Hey, after going here I have an extra $ 10 – 15 to spend. PBR anyone?
