Whenever I go to a taco shop for the first time, I usually order the Carne Asada Burrito. That is pretty much the standard by which a good taco shop is measured. This was probably one of the poorer burritos, I have had lately. First I asked for guacamole. «Creamy or Chunky?», was the response. What kinda of choice is that? You shouldn’t ever eat anything called guacamole that you pour. I got the chunky. The burrito came and I added hot sauce. Didn’t see any chunky guacamole. I saw lettuce(a lot), red onion, tomatoes. That’s called pico or salsa, not chunky guacamole. There needs to be an avocado involved to call it guacamole! Another issue, why so much lettuce? Usually, I don’t even have lettuce in a carne asada burrito. That’s a place called Taco Bell. That burrito wasn’t very good. The other things that were minor leagues — hostess gave us three napkins a piece, not a problem if they were bigger than a piece of toilet paper. Oh and if you want a refill on soda it’s 75 cents. I regret ever walking in the door, should have had the sub or pizza next door.

I’m giving them 2 stars because for $ 9 nachos I expect ACTUAL cheese and not liquid«cheese» from a can! Are you kidding me? $ 9 and you can’t use real cheese?

I went there Tuesday ordered my favorite carne asada burrito, to go. When I got home I found out I had paid for 2 carne asada burritos and got 2 bean burritos. I guess lesson learned

Every time I’m in the area I stop by and enjoy a really good burrito. The salsas have great flavor and the staff is always friendly.

The only reason I come here is because it’s convenient but that might have to change. Their chunky guacamole is more onions amd tomatoes than avocados, their sea green guacamole probably comes from a packet. They use liquid cheese on some dishes and shredded in others. Only the youngest lady behind the counter is kind of pleasant. The other two seem irritated that they have to break the scowl momentarily from their faces and talk to you. I guess it’s too much to expect a little pride in the food one makes but hey, at least their new counter brings the place together nicely.

I was desperately hungry with two young kids in tow. This area has spotty cell reception so unfortunately I could not Unilocal =( It was either this or the Italian sub/pizza place next door. I figured Mexican food should be more legit… a bad assumption. I paid $ 10 for«carne asada fries» a drink & a side if chips. I asked then to add pico de gallo or salsa fresca to my fries and was told I could add my own from the salsa bat. Unnmmmmm ok. Chips were stale & without flavor. Portion of my meal was super skimpy. At other places down in Poway/RB I receive better portions & quality. The«guac» was slime sour cream crap was NOT guacamole. Come on. We live in CA. Use real avocados. The sour cream didn’t look much better. Meat was cheap & tasted like dog food. Seriously, don’t make the sane mistake I did. Do NOT waste your money here… no matter how desperate. I ended up tossing the whole meal.

We live nearby, so occasionally grab a burrito if we’re in a rush. It’s never improved over the last 3+ years. The breakfast burrito is mostly lard laden beans and very salty. Nothing we’ve tried is good. The service is OK. Go into town for good. We love Rubio’s burritos and their chipolte orange salad is excellent(try it with tilapia).

I agree with the other reviews as far as the rude girl/bad service. The food is ok. But it’s the closest place to go to when your hungry and don’t feel cooking.

No table service offered, yet they were able to offer terrible service from behind the counter that had a tip jar. Besides the fact the place smelled, fountain drinks are $ 2, refills .75 cents.

I eat here in the restaurant… but this review is for their catering. …I have used them recently to feed a team dinner to the football team here in town and I was amazed at the quality of the food and the amount of food they provided for the price. .small and family owned and the owner does the catering himself and it really shows a sense of pride. He provided tortillas Carne asada, Pollo asada, carnitas, beans, rice, nachos and a full salsa bar… it was so good that we are using his services again for the freshman football teams banquet… and we can’t wait… thanks guys

Overpriced, over-hyped Mexican food. Their bean and cheese burrito isn’t terrible. Don’t bother with the carne asada, carnitas, California, or breakfast burritos. Just disappointing. I’ve eaten here a few times on my lunch break, and each time ended up wishing I had taken the extra time to drive into town. Salsas or La Cocina are much better choices, but this place even makes Mananas look gourmet.

In all honesty I will say that my review is only based on a few dishes we have bought. We live in the estates and we find ourselves eating here on occasion. Mostly we will get the carne asada fries, shredded beef rolled tacos, beans, salsa, or chips. I have never had a stale chip from this place in over two years. To me their chips are fresh every time I come. I like only one of their salsas(red one with chopped onions) their chicken asada burrito and their California burrito are my husbands favorite. And while we have veered from our usuals and tried some if their other dishes it can be a total miss. Don’t fool yourself into thinking this is real Mexican food. I’m Mexican and I have never been to a taco shop and left saying«that was real good Mexican food» it’s a fast food Americanized version. I have tried a few other places in town and have been direly disappointed. As of a few weeks ago they started accepting debit cards which is great! The service is good as well. I have encountered on occasion one girl that can been«dry» but for the most part every other person I have met there are good hostesses and pleasant. I do wish the owners would fix the AC it can get pretty hot here in the estates and the AC has been broken since I first moved here over two years! Overall I would give them 3 ½ stars if I could. P.S they do offer their chunky guacamole which is the traditional guacamole we all know as well as their«creamy» guacamole which is mixed with sour cream. So ask next time for the one you want.

My family & I spent a week at the Ramona country estates, and there isn’t many food places nearby. So, we decided to try this place since it was convenient. I got the carne asada burrito and I thought it was pretty good. It was big and flavorful, but pretty messy because it kept oozing green liquid all over the place. My dad got the el pastor burrito and he said he didn’t like it at all. My sister got nachos and THECHIPSWERESTALE. How horrible is that! We also ordered a side of chips and guac(that we paid for) and those chips were also stale! It was very disappointing and my sister didn’t even eat her nachos because her chips were so bad. Also, the carne asada wasn’t flavorful at all. Just tasted like unseasoned meat. Also, my parents said that when they went to pick up the food, the lady who worked there was extremely rude and rolled her eyes at my mom when she asked for more salsa. Then my mom noticed that they gave her tacos instead of the taquitos she ordered, so she asked for her correct order, and the lady once again got mad and rolled her eyes. I’m not sure why I’m leaving 3 stars instead of 2 — I guess I’m feeling generous. Truthfully, I liked my burrito but my family wasn’t satisfied at all.

I can’t believe they have 3 ½ stars! This place is absolutely horrible! Save your taste buds, don’t eat here. I always check Unilocal to find a great place to eat. Was very disappointed here. Wish I actually read the reviews first. But due to timing didn’t get the chance. They accept cash only. There salsa and jalapeño carrots are they only reason to go. The guacamole is just this disgusting green sour cream concoction that has no flavor. The cheese enchilada what what can I say… I wish I had just ate my soggy plate instead. Chips very greasy. I know there are only a few(very few) places to eat here in Country Estates, but I can’t I imagine that there is a place that is worse than this one. We will NOT return!

It was advertised at 5 rolled tacos with guacamole, rice and beans for $ 7.99. I hesitantly ordered it because it was the most I’d paid for rolled tacos but whatever… The product I got was horrible. The guacamole was green food colored sour cream. There wasn’t a hint of avocado in the«guacamole.» The employees were all speaking Spanish. I could understand green food colored sour cream if I were in Korea but in So. Cal. with Latinos running the joint? No way. Totally inexcusable. The wife got a chicken quesodilla and it was more like a chicken burrito with processed nacho cheese as the cheese filling. No mas por favor. No mas!

It makes me sad to have to write a negative post but this must be done. When you grow up eating mexican food you develop a flavor pallet of excellence. You know how the dishes are suppose taste, so you can tell when some one takes pride in what they cook and when someone just does not care, and you can tell they don’t care. When I came to eat here I wanted to run for this hills. no one said hi, no one smiled there were just cold faces. My instinct to run was taken over by my need for a shrimp burrito, so I stayed. my food was done in a flash and we found a nice corner to eat in. The whole time I was eating I was being stared at by the two women behind the register. So it made it difficult for me to do what I wanted to do with my food which was spit it out and throw it against the wall. It was horrible. there were big chunks of onions and bell peppers with a few shrimp and it was in this soup that made the tortilla soggy. I was in shock. not to mention the salsa at the bar was looking mighty old. very very sad. Well a friend came to visit and she wanted some nachos… biggest mistake ever coming here. it was yet another soggy mess. you would think it would be ok because the nachos are awesome… no not these the cheese seemed watered down, flavorless. So Sad…

Two stars is the rating the taco shop gets. The food is okay, but had better, but what really upsets me is that they take cash only, but to my knowledge there are no signs anywhere posting this. I went here for lunch and thankfully my coworker had cash and paid for my lunch, but was not happy. Pros– none Cons– food is average quality cash only no atm, and even if there was it would still charge you $ 3 to $ 5 in fees Its 2013, its time you started accepted credit cards like the rest of the world. Will not be back.
