One of my favorite places to get ice cream during the summer and its so close to my house! The staff is friendly, patient and ready to serve. They remember you when you go in so often. Richard’s ice Cream is the best, my go to is always Cookies and Crème but most of the flavors are really good. The Richie’s Slush is yummy as well. It’s always very clean and the staff is always cleaning and checking on things. The lighting is a bit dark inside and can be a little echoey. The outdoor seating is nice and spacious. Love that there is some parking on the back road.

After dinner, ice cream was just the next best thing. Matilda’s boasts tons of flavors and is owned by Tony’s, sorta similar to the Ice Box that’s owned by The Clam Box. Interior is very rustic. I mean it’s by a beach so it has a beachy feel to it I suppose. It’s not very well lit and that threw me off but again maybe it’s the dark mood lighting or something or the other that draws us here after Tony’s. Who knows. Whatever the heck it is, it drew us here. Hubs got maple walnut and death by chocolate. I got moose tracks and Oreo. The Oreo ice cream was very whippy. It was very light and had ginormous chunks of Oreo in it which I mistakenly fed to my husband, which he absolutely adored of course. The other ice creams were very creamy, lovely and sweet. Yeah screw lactose intolerance. I’m a new Englander and I needs ice cream. Back for more soon!

This place is really great! Its the perfect place to go after a walk on the beach or a long day sun bathing in the hot sun. The young ladies that work here are so very sweet and polite. I came in with my niece after spending time on the beach and we decided to order the brownie sundae. The Sundae was yummy! the brownie was perfectly warm and had a great chocolate flavor. It was covered with the most amazing sweet vanilla ice cream, chocolate fudge, whipped cream, walnuts and of course a cherry on top! this was the perfect sunday! I am almost kinda upset that I didn’t order one for myself… but oh well half the calories for full flavor and satisfaction so I am not complaining! Overall great service! Great Location and great ice cream! They also have indoor and outdoor service. I also notice that there was a small dog station out front they had a bowl for water which I thought was super thoughtful for furry friends!!! Love this place! I’ll be back as soon as the sun shines again and the temperature reaches at least 75!

Friendly staff and prompt service. Has indoor and outdoor seating. I opted for the Strawberry Sunday and the ice cream tasted fresh and creamy, I’ll be back.

Richie’s Slush and Richard’s Ice Cream — pretty much the same selection as the Ice Box, so I suppose these two are going head to head on Quincy Shore Dr. I like the Frozen Yogurt — either Coffee Heath Bar or Purple Cow(Black raspberry with white and regular chocolate chips) Matilda’s might have nicer seating outside.

At first glance you may think this place looks seedy, but I assure you don’t be scared. The employees are prompt and willing to please you and encourage you to sample. Richardson’s diary has been in business for over 300 years … Two words, moose tracks.

After lying unoccupied and seemingly abandoned for a couple summers, Matilda’s has been resurrected by Tony’s(half a block away) as an ice cream stand. They stock Richardson’s ice cream(have probably 15 or so flavors on rotation), as well as soft serve and Italian ice. Service was friendly and fast, have a few seats inside, a bunch outside on the patio, and a crosswalk across QSD right out front to get back over to the beach.
