The owners got paid like 600K to leave the building so the mayor could start rebuilding Quincy Center.

I’ve been here once or twice, i like the atmosphere, but sometimes the chinese herbal soup base is kind of strong. i think this place has the best beef tongue(compared to kaze and shabu zen). their beef tongue is very tasty. Personally, i think that the portion is kind of small compare to other hot pot places. overall, okay, not the best.

Been here a few times for lunch recently for the all you can eat for 15.95. With that in mind, I sure stuffed myself way over my head! The grade is not superb but is reasonable for the price. I enjoy the broth the most. However, it gets very salty towards the end. I am working on a list of things to not order. Do dress a bit warm tho because their HVAC does not work. They’ve been using space heaters and a dehumidifier. Be prepared to smell like hotpot for the rest of the day when you’re done eating!

I’ve heard tales of how Little Q Hot Pot will be relocating to a yet unknown location in the forthcoming future, so I was glad to finally make my way to Quincy for my first visit while I still knew where they were. Service was nice and friendly even though it took us a while to decide on our broths(Mongolian Veggie and Chinese miso), appetizers(scallion pancake), and entrée(prime rib eye combo with yellow noodle $ 19.95, fish cake, Japanese scallops, beef tongue). They started us off with two tasty pre-appetizers: a boiled peanut, and pickled daikon(looked like ginger) — both were nice treats! Standouts for me were the scallion pancake(deep fried and crispy chewy, served with hoisin sauce… which could do with more scallions to more accurately reflect its name), prime rib eye($ 14.95 a la carte)(well marbled and so tender!), and the beef tongue(after my recent experience with tough beef tongue on a korean bbq, I didn’t have high hopes, but the tongue here was tender, although not to the same degree as the rib eye). Everything else was fine, including the plate of veggies which included bok choy, watercress, spinach, and a piece each of mushroom, fried tofu, corn on the cob(pleasantly surprisingly sweet!), and tomato. Of the broths we tried, I preferred the less medicinal Chinese miso. The three of us ate well, but definitely not overfilled, for $ 20 apiece. While the restaurant itself was quite roomy and bright and cheery, the ladies’ bathroom left much to be desired, being a bit tight on space, and with unpleasantly wet floors. PS — the online menu prices are real out of date.

Okay so I am not exactly all eager to give 5 stars but Little Q really earned it. I went there yesterday and it was my best experience yet. They now offer all you can eat hotpot for $ 15.99 on weekdays and $ 19.99 on weekends. Not only do they offer lots of options but you can really eat until your gut bursts open for just one price. There was so many things to choose from. We had prime beef, shrimp, scallops, 2 kinds of fish, fish paste, two kinds of tofu, okay i am fat so the list just keeps going. The waiter we had was great and he more than earned the 18% gratuity automatically added to your bill. I loved him so much I wished he was my brother… lol. But he is not so I will just have to visit more often so I can see him.

Great little place for hot pot. The All-You-Can-Eat deal is awesome, and the meat is great. You can pick whatever you want off the menu, and you can go back for seconds. To those who may be a bit cheap, they do charge a mandatory 18% gratuity, but it’s totally worth it! The waitresses are nice and bring the food out quickly, although you may need to ask for a drink refill.

I love this place… the Mongolian broth is the best with the spicy broth for the proteins. It’s a shame that they will be forced to relocate soon with the building they are in getting taken down to put a road though it. Great staff and wonderful atmosphere… I love bringing first dates there so we have a wonderful topic of discussion to break the ice.

Yum yum! I love Little Q! I am extremely upset that they will be moving soon, but when they relocate so will I! This place is great if your friends like hot pot! I went here 2 nights ago accompanied by 2 people. We ordered WAYTOOMUCH, but it was delicious! Apparently since I’ve last been, they no longer have a liquor license, which upset my friends seeing as how they both had their IDs out and ready to get their booze on. It didn’t upset me because I was awaiting my miso broth alongside my ginger ale. All I know is that this is the best hot pot place around and I find it extremely fun to cook your own food with your friends. I also love the staff here, they seem genuinely happy to be serving your table, and it makes me feel comfortable here.

Little Q, please don’t close! After having hot pot in CA, NY and Canada, you are my absolute favorite! I admit to eating at your restaurant over 10 times and you are about 30 minutes from my home! Well worth the travel. What a wonderful staff you have! They couldn’t be any more friendlier! Thanks for all the wonderful meals!

If anyone ever suggests this place for a meal, I basically can’t say«no» despite the 20 – 30 minute drive. While it may not be as snazzy in atmosphere as some of the places in Boston, it makes up for in overall cost, good service, delicious broths and ingredients. My first experience here was a bit frustrating, but once I got the hang of how we should order, it easily became my favorite hot pot restaurant, so I thought I’d share our ordering method. I don’t recommend coming with fewer than 4 people, this way you can maximize variety. I usually get 2 broths and always choose the Mongolian Veggie and the Mala(super spicy and good). For every 2 people in your party, I would say order 1 combo. The combos let you choose a meat(we usually go short rib, I don’t recommend the seafood), a generous portion of veggies, and noodles. From there, I recommend going a la carte with items you like or want to try. My favorites include«high choice» lamb, beef tongue, frozen bean curd, mushroom platter, and pumpkin slices. They also offer beer and some pretty tasty smoothies!

It’s been a while since I’ve had szechuan styled Hot-pot. This was definitely a great little detour. This place is bare bones décor — emphasis is on in and out, no holds barred hot-pot experience, a la asian, «don’t-sell-me-on-frills» ethos. That’s exactly what you get with brusque seating and service. Still, if you’re there for the food, it’s pretty good at the price. We ordered a feast of meats, fish, and vegetables and consumed it with reckless abandon. I wouldn’t mind more spiciness, but my tolerance for spice is rather high. The numbness was also a little lacking for me, but I’d hope one could rectify both of the above with gentle inquiry. We really had good quality meat the night that we went, with well marbled beef and succulent lamb. Great stuff. :) Definitely worth a repeat visit.

Lucky me, I live only a few blocks from Little Q. Now just to think of it more often. Since the theater closed I am down in the center less and less for my nights out. The boy and I went here for V-Day dinner. Called a few hours prior to arriving and we were sat pretty quickly and VERY close to the time we had scheduled. The service was some of the best I have had in a long time. We sat at one of the bar style set ups with a few other couples. We were greeted and a quick explanation of things was given(I had been there before he had not). The food was amazingly fresh and delicious. I had the Mala broth with the Seafood Combo and he had the Mongolian with Beef. And some yummy dumplings to share. We will be back again very soon so try new combinations of things FORSURE.

Two words: great broth. Complex, flavorful and intriguing. Everything else is pretty basic: décor, service, etc. As some have pointed out, the chicken is a little too much like cardboard, but everything else makes up for it. A fun night out at not too bad a price.

Little Q Hot Pot. The only place I will go to eat hot pot. They have the most delicious broths out of all the hot pot restaurants in MA. The fact that they add herbs makes everything so much more intense. I’ve sampled the Chinese Miso, Black Bone Chicken, and Mala(Hot and Spicy) with extra spice, less spice, and regular spice. Personally I like the Mala broth the best because its the most intensely flavored mala broth I’ve ever had, but if you cannot take spicy take a friend who does and just cook some of your food in his or hers every now and then to try it out. Food-wise, I use to get the boneless short rib combination platter, which comes with your choice of broth, a plate of sliced boneless short rib, a bowl of noodles(I always choose the ST noodle), and a plate of assorted vegetables, a tomato slice, a mushroom, and a piece of corn. You can also order items a la carte, which is what I prefer doing, as my favorite meat item is their fatty lamb which they don’t offer a combination platter for. Also, I like getting their enoki, even though it is kind of on the pricy side. If you eat at Little Q for lunch on a weekday they have lunch specials at $ 7.50, which are basically their combination platters but at a slightly smaller portion, but at an incredible price. At dinner and weekends, food for one is typically $ 20-ish but can run up to the $ 30’s if you add beverages. Also, if you sign up for their mailing list, there are periodic specials during the holiday season that give you a coupon for like $ 20 off $ 40 and $ 50 off $ 100. The only reason Little Q does not get 5 stars is because of I feel like the prices could be a little lower, but they are not unreasonable, I’m pretty sure payroll for the employees and overhead charges still eat up most of the store’s revenue. Also, the wait time for food can be a bit long during peak hours. Little Q does take reservations, so I recommend calling ahead if you have a large party. I highly highly highly recommend Little Q. Two summers ago when I spent it in Massachusetts, I use to go at least once a week.

Pick your broth, choose your meat or seafood, add veggies and noodles and voila, you have your basic Mongolian hot pot meal. All ingredients are fresh and tasty and you control the cooking time. The staff is pleasant and happy to assist you with your choices and instruct you in the way of the hot pot. As for value, Little Q is not so hot and therefore loses 1 star. The above mentioned lunch ran me $ 15.54 without a beverage. For half the price and a lot less work find me at the nearest Phở shop.

I love this place. Have been there four times in the past year, each time with great service. Servers don’t have perfect English, but are helpful and seem to happy with the job, without being fake like most places. The concept is interesting — there is a metal bowl in each table that you fill with your choice of broth(I always get herbal, and vary the second one) and then you order raw plates. There is a good assortment of meat/fish, a big variety of vegetables, some noodles, and all sorts of other things to add in too. You cook it in the broth(meats take less than 30 seconds, vegetables vary) and as you cook more in the brother, the better it tastes. By the end of the meal, you will want to drink the broth by the cupfull… which you can do, and you can also take it home, assuming there is any left. It has decent prices — meats run about $ 5 per plate, vegetables are about $ 3, and there are some pricey fish options. If you go with a few people, it actually is kinda cheap when you consider that a whole group will share everything and need less. Another point — you share the cooking bowl with everyone, which can be good or bad, depending on who you go with. You can also order a plate of food, and skip the whole hotpot part, but whats the fun in that? There is a decent selection of beer/wine/nonalcoholic drinks as well. Love the place, love taking friends there.

One thing that is slightly out of place at Mongolian Little Q Hotpot is the name. Sure, there is hotpot galore, but if you come at 8pm there won’t be a little queue, there will be a long one. This place may be big, but it’s very also popular and it’s not hard to see why people are willing to wait 45 mins or more for a table. The friendly service here alone is legendary. As your placemats with a cutesy goat character tell you, this is Mongolian hotpot — more like the original kind before China took over the idea and Shabu Shabu came into fashion. But it’s not really that different, other than that the soup broths are much more flavorful and more interesting than those back in Boston. Mala broth is very SPICY but filled with wonderful things like ginger and cardamon — a great dipping sauce. The Mongolian Vegetable broth was just as rich but was at least drinkable as a soup. For dipping you can choose all sorts of random things — fish balls, sea cucumber, beef tongue, scallops, prime rib, tofu. It’s all very good value and a lot of fun going through the menu which must have nearly 100 options. They also do one of the best fried rices you’ll ever have, if you decide not to have noodles. The shakes hit the spot just right too. Compared to other hotpot venues back in Boston, Little Q isn’t going to win any décor /ambiance awards, so go here with friends rather than dates(or go alone — there is plenty of single-person spots). But for food, service and value for money it’s the best around. It definitely warrants a trip to Quincy. I left so full I couldn’t talk. TRUESTORY.

A good place to go for Chinese style Shabu Shabu in Quincy for me to go without fight my way to Chinatown. The quality of meat is fair with the prices, you get what you pay. You have many choice to choose for your broths, I recommend the Black Bone Chicken Broth. Also the servers were attentive. Only something annoyed me, we asked for dipping sauce which they served on small dipping bowls and that’s OK tho then we asked for more. And this time they mixed the sauce with water. Well, I will bring my own next time haha.

Can I move to Quincy now please? Pretty please? Along with phở, chinese hot pot is my cure-all for chilly nights, or when I feel under the weather. Though the hot pot served at this restaurant was not ‘typical’ for me, I enjoyed it immensely. We got an appetizer, two types of meat, one large plate of noodles, plus at least 6 other dishes(mushrooms and the like). Too much food! But I kept stuffing myself because it was so delish. What wasn’t there(that I was expecting) was the special black dipping sauce. Server was SUPER attentive, they kept checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Who shouldn’t go? Anyone who doesn’t like their food to co-mingle, who’s scared to try something new, or can’t handle any spice. Who should go? Anyone who enjoys authentic asian cuisine and likes hot stuff. ps. some of the stuff floating around in the broth when they bring it out to you is edible. Some of it is not. The biggest mistake you could probably make is eating a bunch of the little red peppers(or any at all) b/c they’re freaking hot. Make your eyes immediately water hot.
