This place is dirty. was eating here last week and a rat ran right across the dining room. Disgusting.

I had a Phantom Gourmet Gift Card and felt like Chinese food and knew their location on route 18 was awesome so off we went ! We went for lunch no one was there ! Yikes ! Kind of scared but We were pleasantly surprised ! Great Chow was all fresh the food presentation was very eye pleasing and the only reason I gave 4 stars out of 5 was because the boneless pork was dry and the beverage soda cups looked kind of foggy but otherwise was a nice lunch! I definitely will be back !

Been here a couple times all for take out & have never had a problem. Parking can get a little tricky. Chicken Teriyaki & Chicken Fingers are really good, & the pork fried rice is pretty standard when it comes to places like this. I’d recommend giving this place a try though.

It’s Americanized Chinese food. For those who like that kind of food, I guess it’s great. The first time I tried it(3+ years ago) I thought it was pretty good. My last experience(a few months ago) was disappointing. I ordered a dish to go, and when I opened the box at home it was mostly rice with only a few small pieces of carrot and broccoli mixed in with whatever meat I had ordered. Didn’t taste great. The portion sizes are decent for the price, but it’s nothing to write home about. I walk by all the time, and the bar looks nice! But I’m not tempted to go in very often.

Food is great better than most Chinese restaurants it’s just not as good as it ounce was. For some reason it doesn’t taste the same. It’s still really good though I hope you give it a try.

We were surprised how dead the restaurant was for a Saturday night. We actually had tried going to the Fours first but there was no parking at all for how busy it was. We got the food and it was sub par to say the least but we have ordered many times from here so just chalked it up to not the best night until we heard the one other table freaking out and then we saw why… Mice running around the empty dining room. We flagged the waiter and asked to get the check. We informed him of the mice and he didn’t seem fazed at all. He asked us if we wanted to wrap up the food and we all looked at each other and unanimously said«no». On our way out, one of the hostess’ asked how everything was and we explained to her that there were nice running all around. She looked at the other hostess and acted shocked. As we headed out the door, one of us turned around and saw the women laughing. This is the last time we frequent this place. It was bad enough to see the mice family reunion but it was disturbing to see how the staff reacted. Guess we now know why the place was so empty when every other place was packed.

got my phone order wrong, was only two things, orange beef which they got and they confused a small chicken chow mein with some chicken vegetable stir fry which was 80% vegetables, 10% chicken and 10% soupy stock. The orange beef was drowned in sauce, not even crispy like advertised on the take out menu and some pieces of the beef were way too chewy and fatty and inedible. Will not be ordering here again.

I will never go back after seeing a mouse tonight. Even the waiter saw it! You would think after see that mouse they would discount and comp our bill but We paid our bill And left while the waiter was looking for the mouse. NEVERNEVERAGAIN! We should get our money back!

Came on a week night. They weren’t busy so we were seated promptly. Typical American Chinese fare. Nothing stood out but we had a super nice server. I definitely recommend trying this place at least one for dine in. Not sure how their take out is but they had a lot of orders waiting to be picked up so that’s a good sign.

Great Chow used to be a family favorite for years. I noticed a change in the food and service a couple of years ago. We always ordered take-out, the last few times I’ve gotten delivery. Without fail, every single time, there is something wrong with our order. They never offer to fix it or refund anything when we call. It’s safe to say that I’ve given up hope for them. :( They need a serious change. New owners or something? What happened?!

I think the food here is great. The restaurant itself is also clean looking and the décor is really nice, too.

I’ve been here about a dozen times and the food is always decent. Everyone of the«spicy» dishes are mild. They’re tasty, but it’s your typical American Chinese food dish«spicy.» The Lemon Chicken is the sweetest thing I’ve ever eaten. It’s sweeter than any dessert or candy I’ve ever had. It tastes really good; it’s almost like a lemon candy flavored chicken. I’d recommend splitting it unless you’re in the hunt for some type 2 diabetes. There are sometimes some lively folk at the bar who get loud, but I’m not one of the people to care. I only notice because people in my party sometimes mention it. Overall, I’ll continue to come here for good food.

This review is for the take-out only, as I have never dined at(or even entered) the restaurant. The food is good, and somewhat reasonably priced, although the two things I have ordered have drastically different values. The spring rolls here are probably the best I have ever had: crispy, fresh and fairly large, they are so delicious! My gripe is that a «large» order for $ 4.95 only gets you two spring rolls. I wish you could get 4 or even 6 for a more reasonable price. On the other hand, the chicken pad thai(odd they have this on the menu, I know) is $ 9.95 and fed me for three meals with some left over! It was mostly noodles that were well-seasoned, but there was chicken, bean sprouts and egg as well. I have literal cravings for those spring rolls. Would definitely enjoy returning for a full dining experience.

Very Americanized Chinese restaurant with so so food. Used to be better years ago. This place has been around a long time in Quincy. Parking is tight on nearby streets as Beale Street tends to be very busy and crowded. Located a short walk from the Wollaston Red Line MBTA station. I would suggest going to North Quincy where there is a higher concentration of Chinese restaurants to pick from or walking/driving down to Hancock Street in Wollaston where there is a nice selection. Also Brook Street up the hill from the Wollaston T station has several more options. If you like Americanized dishes like eggs rolls, moo goo gai pan, beef with broccoli, chow mein, etc, then Great Chow is probably for you.

I really like the food here, the quality is just better than the other options around. We usually sit at the bar and have a couple Mai Tai’s with dinner. Last time my husband and I went, we had a great time chatting with the bartender and just relaxing with good food & drinks. I believe the bartender was somewhat new, but she was great!

Had a good experience a couple of weeks ago after taking Great Chow off the rotation for five years. The ravioli, hot and sour soup, and Yu shiang chicken were quite good. All enthused that they had gotten their s*** back together, we went back today. The pork fried rice last time was unimpressive, so I ordered chicken fried rice instead. It was average. The ravioli tasted different, not as good, as last visit. Most importantly, the Szechaun Beef suqued. It was chewy boot leather, requiring multiple«spit into the napkin» until giving up on eating it. This is a major flaw. This grosses me out. So that thrill of like having got back together with an Ex after a long hiatus has come crashing to earth. I would go back, but not in a hurry. I don’t know which was the real experience, a couple of weeks ago, or today, but we like another place that is more consistent so we don’t much have time for games. ADDCOMMENTDECEMBER2014 Third try, pork fried rice I didn’t eat past the first bit, Yu Shaang just meh, sweet and sour chicken not hot and just meh, boneless spareribs fatty. It’s too bad, they were THE place years ago. They dropped the ball. It shows too; on the Sunday afternoon we went it was a ghost town at great Chow, but crowded at places like The China.

Burp! MMMM, Junky Chinese food at it’s best. Great Chow has been a family favorite for over a decade and on a recent trip home I was craving Boston-style Chinese food. I got a combo platter with General Gau chicken, pork fried rice and chicken fingers. The General Gau was perfect, plump, succulent chunks of chicken breast covered in a garlic-soy sauce. Rice was great as well and the portions were huge. Chinese restaurants in this area aren’t known for their service, but this is an exception as not one, but two waitresses constantly made sure we were happy with our food and filled our water. I shall return.

Their pepper-spiced tofu with string beans is awesome. I’ve made sure to stop in for it whenever I pass by on my way home to Maine. It’s close enough to 93 to make it seem reasonable for excellent tofu. NOT covered in gloppy sauce but beautifully stir-fried with never over-cooked string beans. If you’re looking for a great dish, this is it.
