My family loves El Nopal, when we all lived in Pueblo we would come here once a week! Taquitos, tamales, burritos, tacos are all good! Sopapillas too! We order the tamales by the dozen for holidays — so yummy! Green chili, guacamole and salsa are some of the best! Don’t let it’s appearance fool you… Inside are nice people and good cooks! An awesome place to go for authentic Pueblo Mexican food! I go back every time I’m back in town.

Really good Green Chili, I had the pork Avacado Burrito and it was really good. I’ve never been here before, and I am definitely coming back!

Will NEVEREVER return here again. My parents, husband and I were looking for some good dinner. We read the reviews for this place and thought ‘hmm seems good’. We were wrong. We arrived to the restaurant and we were not even greeted. I had to walk up to the cashier and asked if we could seat ourselves. We proceded to do so. In the process I saw 100 year old spider webs on the walls. The carpet was stained with food, and maybe even vomit. Needless to say the booths were falling apart and the curtain wall things were embeded with disgusting bits of old food. I kept telling myself that maybe the food was so good that they didn’t have time to clean. Wrong again… I ordered steak nachos, husband and mom ordered enchiladas and dad ordered a steak. I took two bites of mine and left it, it was cold, soggy and tasted old. Enchiladas were okay, seemed like microwaved food but edible. My dad’s so called«steak» is what drove me to think«how is this place still in business!??». They served him a ground beef patty and called it a steak! Why!?? It wasn’t even a good beef patty anyway. The waitress saw some of the plates still full, offered a box. After we refused boxes she didn’t even ask if we wanted something else or if she could have us talk to a manager. Mediocre service. All I wanted to do was get out of there. I normally do not enjoy leaving bad reviews but this place drove me to my limit. I would leave negative stars if I could. This has been the WORSE restaurant I have ever been to. I literally waited to get sick after I ate because I was sure that it would happen. I would be better off buying a frozen burger patty and eating it frozen than going back to El Nopal. NOTHANKS!

I’ve been here twice – never before and never again. If I could add sound effects, it would sound something like this– WLLEHCHK! Thank goodness they serve beer. It’s hard to be part Mexican in Pueblo where the Mexican food is not so tasty. I should have suspected something when we walked in to El Nopal and there was nothing but a sea of white faces. That should have been my first indication that the food might be scary. The red sauce was a bland concoction of something other than red chile… maybe it was red bell pepper sauce?. I had to add a butt load of salsa to get any type of flavor. Then, there was the UNMELTED processed cheese in the middle. They use this cheese for everything, and it’s unappealing. The wait staff was very good, but you can’t flavor food with good service, and this is a perfect example that having your restaurant’s name in Spanish doesn’t equal having Mexican food.

Let’s get to the point. There was my life before a meal at El Nopal and my life after that meal at El Nopal. Other than the birth of my children, and maybe a few other assorted events, this meal was the highlight of my existence. Spectacularly wonderful green chile. Microscopic prices. Fantastic salsa. If you don’t like El Nopal, there’s something deeply wrong with you, but don’t worry. You’re probably so far gone that you’re beyond help. This restaurant is greatness stacked upon greatness. El Nopal should be placed on Mount Rushmore alongside Lincoln, Jefferson, Washington and John Quincy Adams.

Had a catered event from these folks. I haven’t been to the restaurant, so thy piece is missing from the review. Breakfast burritos were excellent. Eggs cooked perfectly, potatoes and seasonings just right. Had chicken enchiladas were off the chart. Great green chili sauce as well. Highly recommend their food.

Hmm. I think this place is on it’s way down. I imagine that at one time it was a happening little spot, but it just doesn’t cut the mustard anymore. One bright spot is the waitress was very nice. The chips and salsa were good. I had the chicken taco, beef enchilada and the chili rellano. I didn’t like the chicken taco. It is a flour tortilla and it was very dry. No sauce on it — just dry chicken, lettuce and cheese. The enchilada and rellano were good but not great. Of course it had green chili on it. The green chili here could use more green chili and less salt. Just my opinion… The place was boring. This place is only 2 stars with out the waitress and excellent service.

Great thin, crispy, hot chips and delicious pork and avocado burritos.
