The Hideaway has great pizza and drinks. We were a group of 6 and waited less than 5 minutes for a table. The baked cheese was less than desirable, the sauce was bland and the cheese was rich. The meat lovers pizza did not disappoint. Overall, a little pricy, but the restaurant is located in a vacation area.

Excellent atmosphere, service, and food. Pizzas were as good as in Tulsa, OK. Philipe was helpful, and generous with refills. We will be back for sure, and will probably stay in the adjoining resort.

Was great to get in within a few minutes of arrival at 7:00 on Saturday night. My Shrimp Scampi with spinach & veggies instead of pasta was amazing. My Dad had pizza he liked it as well. My Mom ordered spaghetti & meatballs– she got it and it was barely warm they took it back and warmed it. She finally got her food after we were about ½ done and buy into her meatballs to find raw hamburger in the entire middle — the waiter took it back was very apologetic came back in a few and said they were sorry and took it off the bill however didn’t bring a replacement by this point my Mom was nibbling on our plates so I asked if he was brining her food back he promptly went back to order it however told him just make it to go. Jokingly my Mom said I wonder if the meatballs are done o told her oh ofcourse they will be. She pulled it out and looked and guess what– totally raw in the middle.. The Manager was really helpful when we arrived I assume he didn’t know about it. The moral of the story, I’ve eaten here a few times always had good food just don’t order spaghetti.

Good pizza. Better than expected. The atmosphere is a little 80s.

Pizza was good, probably a B or B+. There was ‘fresh’ mozzarella which meant maybe 15% of the pizza had cheese on it. I’d rather have it the other way. We ordered an extra large for leftover and it was $ 31. We also got the Greek salad, it was $ 16 I think, if not a little more… but was huge. Tasty as well. There was a big wait and little to no waiting room, but were seated rather quickly as we were only a party of 2. Service was good, tipped well, but tip didn’t get recorded on the CC statement?

My family and I live in Princeville so we had the opportunity to watch the owner pour great amounts of money and time into this restaurant to get it going a couple of years ago. We want the owner to succeed and we certainly want a good restaurant to succeed in our community. I have gone to Hideaways multiple times but I doubt I will ever go there again after our experience last night. Unfortunately, it has never been consistent but the staff made up for what the food didn’t. We so wanted to support the owner in his endeavor but if this restaurant continues to put out overpriced mediocre food and provide slip shod rude service, I’m afraid this restaurant will bite the dust. Granted it was the day after Christmas but that is no excuse for the way we were treated or the poor quality of the food especially considering the prices one must pay. The manager was extremely rude. He yelled at us twice once about wanting to change tables when tables were open and once because we had been waiting for 15 minutes to get our drinks when the waitress neglected to put in the order. We were initially seated by the front door… it was hot, the music was blaring, people were trying to talk over the loud music, and the lighting was far too bright. I was told that the music is set at a certain volume because the owner wants it set high… yikes. The place was disturbingly loud. The manager had horrible body odor and was really simply just a bully. It took 15 minutes just to get water and that only occurred because I got up to get my own. The pizzas were soggy and tasteless but we took them home to feed the chickens. The Sicilian cigar albeit oily was okay. The waitress was obviously overwhelmed(she said they were short staffed). I realize that this occurs in the restaurant business but that doesn’t excuse the poor quality of food or the attitude of the manager. I must say I have never been treated as badly by a manager in a restaurant. I don’t think he’s learned the axiom, «the customer is always right». A little bit of curtesy goes a long way. Not all of your customers are tourists that you will never see again. I’m concerned that we soon may not have the pizza pub in our community… perhaps these issues can be resolved before that occurs.

Truly ambrosial pizza! The food was great, including the Sicilian cigars as an appetizer and the cheese/Hawaiian/BBQ chicken pizzas. The restaurant was very nice, with a huge fish tank in the front area, and a nice view of the mountains. Will definitely return on our next trip out.

I’m torn about Hideaways. The food is generally enjoyable, but comparatively expensive. I think I paid $ 50 one night for a pizza, an order of chicken wings, and two orders of cheesey bread. The pricing is more of the norm for the area, but I was still a bit shocked when I went to pick-up the first order from this place when a friend and I were staying in a nearby condo. That said, we picked up from Hideaways 3 times during our stay in Princeville. It’s an accessible dining options, which works to its benefit. The first night was easy enough to pull up with the car, for me to run in and pay/grab the food(my friend turned the vehicle around), and then for us to get back to the condo. More importantly though, our second visit: the second time we drove over for dinner, a couple days later, there was a really over the top security guard that was standing in front of the 3 main parking spots in front of the restaurant. My friend stopped the car quickly so that we could switch spots(he was running in to pay that time, while I was turning the car around), and the security guy started wildly flashing a flash light at us and telling us repeatedly to move our vehicle — without listening to us when we said we were just switching seats(the car was still running, we opened our doors at the same time, etc) so we could pick up food and get out of the parking lot more quickly. TOTALLY unnecessary on the part of security, and I legitimately felt threatened by his over the top reaction… and honestly, I felt like we should just turn around entirely and skip picking up our food at this place. I got in the driver’s seat though, turned the vehicle around, and was passing by the entrance of Hideaways(the ramp area) again when the security guard started wildly flashing the flash light at/into the vehicle again. Um… I’m DRIVING! Why are you trying to blind me with a flashlight?! What would have happened if the light got into my eyes at the wrong time, someone was crossing the parking lot at the same time, and I couldn’t see them?! The security guard being out there with a flashlight, wildly waving the light around, is dangerous — period. The guard that night was overzealous(we weren’t even planning to park in front of the restaurant!) and made me legitimately feel like I was in an unsafe situation. I wouldn’t have ever gone back to Hideaways after that experience, but a particularly disheartening attempt to have dinner at CJ’s Steak & Seafood on one of our last nights on the island left us with little choice for dinner after 9pm on a Sunday night(see my review of CJ’s for the full story). Anyway, we ended up ordering from Hideaways out of lack of other options, really… this time parking MUCH further away from the restaurant, walking in and having a drink at the bar(spritzer water for me, a margarita for my friend), and then taking our food back to the condo. While there though, we relayed our story of dealing with the security guard to one of the restaurants staff members — who then relayed our story to the restaurant manager. The staff member came back with apologies, but no real resolution… an apology that it happened, but no commitment to there being communication with the security guard(s). I’m sorry, but something had to be done to ensure the continued safety of Hideaways patrons, because having security out in front of the restaurant wildly waving light into the eyes on oncoming drivers is dangerous. TL;DR Convenience factor is high, but I’m not convinced the food is worth the price. Additionally, an overzealous security guard in the parking lot made me feel legitimately unsafe. I’d be hard-pressed to visit again or recommend to others. Staff is very sweet, but décor is dated.

Parking is definitely lacking ~ unless you don’t mind walking across the parking lot and down what seems to be a small street. It was raining, so we were not too impressed. We’re staying in Princeville; and there are not a lot of restaurants available to grab dinner. We had flown in, checked into our resort, and simply wanted to have a nice dinner before calling it a day. The resort we are staying at recommended this place. It isn’t bad. But I would not drive around the island specifically to eat here. I had Cappellini Pomodoro which had the biggest piece of basil on the top I’ve ever seen! I had to tear it up to be able to eat it with the meal. The hubster had veggie pizza. I think he enjoyed the crust much more than he did the guts of the pizza! Lots of green pepper. Yuck! I ordered the Quinoa Arugula Salad as an appetizer. It needed a sweet element to it so I asked our waiter for dried cranberries which I noted we’re on other salads on the menu. Our waiter was quick to respond and very nice. Sadly, the cranberries didn’t add much to the salad. I think the huge pieces of sun-dried tomato really pulled away the taste of the salad. Would we come back? Probably not. The place is OK. We were here at night so I can’t attest to the view.

When you’re stuck on the North Shore of Kauai, starving and tired of carb-heavy, fat-heavy foods, where do you go? Hideaways Pizza Pub! My friends and I randomly stumbled upon this place via Unilocal after a long day of sun activities and over-eating. We were craving a Netflix+chill kind of night in our posh condo but not looking to over-eat yet again. Luckily we found Hideaways to order in some pizza. One look at the menu, however, and we ALL decided on salads. The salads menu is pretty extensive and boasts variety and fullness in ingredients. I tried a bunch among my friends’ salads but the seared tofu salad with kale, quinoa, and scallions tossed in an apple cider vinaigrette was my absolute favorite! I even tried to replicate it once I got home, with some resolve. While my friends’ and I agreed that their salads were all awesome, the pastas need some work. The spaghetti and meatballs off the kids’ menu(maybe there’s our problem) were pretty lackluster. Mushy meat was formed into a round shape for meatballs and sat in too-sweet marinara sauce that they didn’t provide enough of and oodles of overdone noodles. Stick to the salads, like I said. Ambiance was more high-end than expected(in a good way), but I suppose to be expected of Princeville. Would I revisit? Yes! Gimme gimme those salads!

Tried to order takeout however the call went to voicemail. Clearly that would not work. Since we were staying in one of the nearby condos I walked over to place an order. 5:40 pm They appeared completely flummoxed by someone trying to order takeout. The first waitress called over a second waitress who seemed lost and confused and did not want to help me. Back to waitress number one who got a third waitress. No luck yet. Fourth waitress finally was able to place my order with the kitchen. 5:53 pm. Seemed pretty strange for a place that says on the online menu. Takeout available. Sat at the bar 35 minutes and had to ask the bar tender, one beer later, to check on my order. He brought it right out. 6:25 pm. The pizza was fair to good and the entrée Greek salad was very good. Plenty of food for two. Had enough leftovers to make lunch the next day. Everyone was nice and pleasant, they just don’t seem to be set up for the takeout service they advertise.

Pizza was good, but I cannot rate this place higher because there is almost zero parking… maybe three spots and a couple of security guys watching to make sure you don’t park where you’re not supposed to park. They had even moved an orange cone into one of the three spots when we were there. The décor is dated 70s and not in a quaint way. This is good for people staying near by… but I wouldn’t make it a destination.

We stopped in for pizza and beers. We sat at the bar. The bartender took about ten minutes to acknowledge us, but we were ok as we could tell she was very busy, plus we’re on vacation so no rush. However, when she did come over to «greet» us she dumped all her bad vibes on us, and unfortunately for the rest of our dinner we shared in her experience. I observed that she was just as snippy with the other patrons and her coworkers. I think management is either over working her(she shared she was on her 9th shift in a row) or they hired the wrong person for a service position. I like the location of this restaurant, and the food is decent. You should go, just don’t sit at the bar with the brunette female bartender.

What an experience. Pizza was ok, service was mediocre at best. We had a group of 7 and sat in the corner booth. We were immediately greeted by dozens of gnats and/or mosquitos flying over our table. When we told the server he said«yea we leave the windows open so they are pretty much everywhere because it’s so humid and hot». We decided to each get a beer and order our pizza to go after getting bit 4 or 5 times. After all was said and done we felt like we got ripped off. We each had 1 beer and ordered 2 large pizzas to go. Our bill was $ 123 with a nice 15% tip came out to $ 147 total. So $ 21 a person. When we got home it turns out each person got 2 slices of pizza. $ 21 for 2 slices of pizza and a beer?! That’s insane. On the mainland I could get a whole large pizza and a beer to myself for that. Overall the food was ok, the prices were too high and the bug problem was the worst. Disappointed after reading other reviews.

It is unfortunate to start a review with… «I got our money back at least after I demanded it back!» I have never wrote a bad review to date, so here I go. I am in the service industry and depend on my clients and their reviews. Our experience with this place was unbelievable. Sad is more like it. My wife and daughter were treated like CRAP at the very beginning. My wife asked for a high chair and was immediately questioned if she really needed one for my toddler, insinuating that she is too large for one… She is not even 2 years old yet and nowhere near overweight. I could not believe that the service took 1.5 hours for two dishes. the restaurant was not that busy. The kids meal was a piece of bread with melted cheese and some ragu. Also when I commented that I would put a Unilocal review in, a LOUDMOUTH waiter(with highlight in his hair and slightly overweight) says to me as he passes Unilocal means nothing. He wasn’t in my conversation and he was extremely rude! The manager agreed with me and said she would speak with him. Then he walks back and said something else… I proceeded to put him in his place rather rudely myself. I hated to do it but he had no business jumping into to my conversation a second time. I feel that this team needed to be trained better. I’m sure they have gotten better and I hope to return one day for a second chance. I know all businesses have a bad day but how do you recover is the question. Good luck(sincerely) with your business. Mark E.

Very close walking distance from the St. Regis so we thought we’d go check out the pizza as I was craving some after our flight from Seattle. My food exception were still set at the Seattle level so maybe I was expecting too much. The ambience is of a new place that’s not completely occupied and they’re missing all the decorations that make a place warm and inviting. We got here early before the normal dinner rush and got seated immediately and the service level was just right and the staff was attentive to our needs. The menu is quite large and must have had 50 or more entrees with everything from starters, salads, pizza, pasta, etc. We came for the pizza and ordered a caesar salad to start it off with a couple of beers. Also they served some complementary bread with some olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The bread was freshly baked and thought this was a good starter for the dinner. The caesar was another story, it came in a large bowl filled with some salad that I would have thrown out as it was starting to brown and was wilted. We were surprised that the kitchen made it and the server presented it to us. The pizza after the salad was actually pretty good for the first few slices, but the crust was overly salty and after a few slices the salt was too much. This could be a good place to just hang and have a beer, but the food was on the border of making me worry about it being safe to eat after getting the salad served to us. I’d like to see this place be successful, but seems they are just holding on by serving food that shouldn’t be served.

In short I would NOT reorder or recommend this place for pizza. This review comes from myself and 3 other family members while vacationing here in Kauai. We paid $ 60 for two large pizzas with 1 topping. First this price exceeds two pizzas in my hometown of San Francisco. Next the pizza crust tasted like something out of a microwave and the was super greasy and honestly the worst pizza we have ever eaten. I do not like leaving negative reviews but feel it’s my duty to warn people from eating here. Service — was fine and normal.

Coming from New York, I find this review a little hard to write. I am used to some of the best pizza in the world so me giving this place 3 stars really translated to 5 for the area. I was very pleased with the crust and taste of the pizza. the other reason i only gave 3 stars is that the night i was in, the place was very hot and with i’m sure normally it doesn’t need a/c but for that night, during the heat wave, it sure would have been nice. It also seemed like the staff although very friendly and nice, were working too many tables to focus on everyones needs. We decided to try something different and went with the rooster which had pulled chicken, bbq sauce, caramelized onions and a few more. I must say the crust was crisp and the pizza was balanced very well. It was actually pretty good! I would totally order this again if I came but but my favorite was the garden which had pesto, artichokes, peppers, onions, olives and a few more things. This was my favorite of what we had and very refreshing. If you come here def try the garden pizza. For the area and being in walking distance this is a great place. We came rather early and was seated right away but there was quite a wait when we walked out so be mindful of that.
