Been here many a time and purchased many a shoe as I live in the neighborhood. Aside from the selection on the walls and in the sale section, they’re happy to bring in a different size or color from the other locations, and offer reasonably priced repairs as well. I appreciate that they bulked up their kids section after Haggis McBaggis closed. One star detracted due to a brusk, crabby worker we encountered there the other day. Never seen her before, and hope to not see her again.

Below is the email response I received when I contacted the store about their poor customer service. I’ll let you decide if you want to shop at a place that considers bad reviews«social media blackmail». «What is unfortunate is that after being informed by the sales associate that you would not be able to return them if you wear them out, you choose to resort to social medial blackmail to try to punish us for your decision. As the return policy was on your receipt, on the surface where you made payment, and on a 2 foot tall sign in very large print on the wall immediately behind the wrap desk, and as returning worn and damaged items is the exception in the retail industry, not the rule, I do not feel obligated to entertain the matter further, especially since that was not in fact your first visit to our store, as you originally claimed. In posting inflammatory statements on our web page and elsewhere rather than truthfully disclosing that you purchased and wore the shoes, and damaged them to the point they would not be resalable as a new shoe, and then expected us to bear the cost, be cautious that you are not committing slander or liable. If you would like to discuss hostility, perhaps I can have the other people who were in the room listening to you on the phone(which was not even on speaker phone) comment on that. I was more than polite while you lectured me on how to negotiate and your love of returning items you used to Nordstroms. I suggest you shop there from now on, as you are no longer welcome at any of our seven stores. You have been banned from our webpage as well. I am the General Manager of the chain, and just to let you know, your entire phone conversation with me was held within earshot of the Operations Manager of the chain, so be sure you make accurate claims if you choose to quote me. I am certain you had some discussion with Steven as well regarding why you would be leaving the shoes for inspection in the first place and why he was unable to accept them for return when you presented them at the time you returned the other pair you purchased the same day. The fact that you would buy two pairs of high heel shoes to „relieve your back pain“ which as you stated already existed, makes little sense to me, however, since you were free to purchase whatever shoes you chose to, I expect you not I should be responsible for your actions. We were both shocked and stunned at your audacity. My apologies if you feel I was providing „horrible“ customer service while I listened to you ranted on the phone for over ten minutes about how the whole situation is somehow our fault. My objective was only to explain store policy and explain to you that the reason we were unable to make any exception was that the shoes were damaged while in your possession. As I told you on the phone, none of the three shoe retailers I have worked for over the past 25 years allow return of worn items unless they are defective and dealing with the manufacturer’s warranty on your behalf. The sales associate who sold you the shoes volunteered a complete narrative of your visit to both Steven and Myself when she first saw the shoes had been left there for inspection, including the fact you had been given a verbal warning about the return policy, that you were there on your lunch, that you were shopping for comfortable shoes due to pain issues, and that you were very happy and excited about purchasing those shoes and chose to wear them out despite the warning. This was prior to your escalation of the matter and prior to Steven’s call to you or your call to me. There is no reason for me to question her statements as she does not work on commission, and they were unsolicited. It is against our company policy to be bullied or blackmailed into making exceptions to company policy and every one of our employees is authorized to tell abusive customers to shop elsewhere. Feel free to repost or distribute this email, but only in its entirety! Customers who resort to abuse and blackmail are never right. I suppose I could have told you that when you threatened me on the phone, but you see, I was trying to be polite and gently explain reality to you because I did value you as a person, despite your promise to never shop at our stores again and tell people to ban us. My first Dansko purchase was prompted by friends and strangers telling me that I would really like them due to a pending foot issue I’m trying to prevent. I live close to this location and was happy to find that the staff was extremely patient and helpful. I was a bit surprised to learn that this store will not take back shoes if they cause irritation. My experience with shoes of this genre is that the manufacturers want you to be a happy and continue to become a loyal customer and thus allow the retailers a broad return policy. In the future I will most likely shop at a different retailer with a better return policy unless I know for sure that I want a particular pair or to replace a well loved pair. I like supporting my neighborhood businesses and again I have to say they gave great service with the selection process and they have a very large selection.

I’ve been to stores that sell Dansko’s before, and never have I seen such an extensive selection. I have trouble with the regular style clogs(I have funny shaped feet) so I’ve been hesitant to order other styles online without trying them on. Thankfully now I don’t have to! They had plenty of styles to try and the clerk directed me to the perfect pair for what I need. In a matter of minutes! They even have a 10% discount for doctors and nurses, bonus! I will definitely be back for a pair of Merrilll’s soon!

Clogs are inherently unattractive to me. But I’ll be derned if Dansko’s aren’t the best shoes when you’re on your feet all day. Again, too bad 90% of Danskos are butt ugly. A small sample of the 10% that I can handle are at Clogs-N-More on Milwaukie. This is a good space filled with many different brands of cloggy styles and some boots, wedges. The prices are right and the service is helpful. All the shoes are displayed on the walls and you can ditch your own and try on *gasp* both left and right shoes of each style/size without asking for help! Don’t go in here thinking that all the styles of shoes from the online version are available, but ordering is not a problem. When I come upon $ 130 for the cute Dansko wedge heel in light brown(Santa?) I’ll be back.
