I visit Port Townsend twice a year from Southern California. Always have a meal or two, at Doc’s. My sister and had a wonderful meal there on June 15th, 2016. Had the pasta with clams and mussels. Was fantastic. Had a bit of a problem with a small piece of plastic on plate. Our wonderful waiter, Sam, noticed it and took care if it right away. Was not a big deal but Sam and and Trisha took care of everything. I want to compliment the whole staff. Will be back in August and please count on seeing us again. Thank you all Gordon Thurner

Decent food at decent prices. Lovely view when the weather is nice. I’ve had a few great meals and two not so great ones. Overall I would recommend it. They are great with kids/families.Two thumbs up.

This is a very good deal in Port Townsend, the food was excellent, the service spot on, and just a very good place to eat. Only recommendation would be some umbrellas on the deck to help with the sun. There were good views of the Straits of Juan de Fuca and the Cascades, so it made the meal even more enjoyable They accommodated our gluten intolerance and made our food to order, very nice people, we’ll be back.

Best meal of my trip so far; the service was excellent and the view was even better. Our appetizer was amazing, so amazing that we wanted to drink the sauce(we got the clams and mussels). The entrees were top notch! The salmon Mac and cheese was the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had! Could not recommend this place more!

Sorry… hard to give a better review when the wait staff servers everyone around you, but can’t bother to acknowledge us, much less bring water or take our order. We left…

Portabella with feta cheese on frosacia bread and sweet potato fries. Price is $ 15 for dinner and $ 12 for lunch. Worth it for the view and the isolation from large crowds. Sandwich was delicious. Watch the ferry go by.

What a great lunch! I had the prime rib sandwich and couldn’t stop eating. It was a good portion but it was so good I wanted more. Hummus was spicy and good. Blue cheese dressing was also exceptional. Great experience!

Ciopinno was good, a little too thick with tomato but seafood not overcooked. Wine list could use some really good updating, especially since they are located in such a great state that has wonderful wines to take advantage of.

Great service, good food and drinks. The fish and chips were not greasy at all and the brussles sprouts were delish! The patio was a beautiful place to enjoy enjoy the sunny day. This is a little off the beaten path but totally worth it!

Food was ok. Nothing special, but no problems. Server was amazing. She was perfect. Worst part was the smell. Walking in, it smelled like old burnt fry oil. A lot. They need a new ventilation system. The dining room felt a little Mitzel’s like. Need to class it up a bit for the prices.

Stopped for fish and chips but disappointed that they aew made with cod instead of halibut. Still it’s a fun casual place in a beautiful setting where you can eat outside on the patio if you wish. We chose to eat inside where we experienced prompt friendly service. I ordered a garden salad with my fish instead of chips and it was very good… very fresh, cool, crisp. I shared my dh’s fries and they were very tasty. He said his coleslaw was good too. The fish was fresh but not as good as halibut so we would not order it again. Just our preference.

Good service and food for a reasonable price. The cioppino was full of great seafood, but the fennel taste was a bit overpowering making it hard to really enjoy any of the other flavors. The salmon entrée was a little overcooked and used a pink salmon which had a bit less flavor than the great wild local options I usually enjoy.

Our family of four came to Doc’s tired after a long day of driving and poking around in PT. Our experience was mixed. The good: cioppino, chowder, and burger. The bad: crab risotto was mostly melted cheese, tasted more like fondue, and the portion of crab on top was very small and was shredded. For the $ 21 price tag, I felt pretty disappointed. The service was OK, nothing special. I’d not go back, most likely would find something cheaper and simpler elsewhere.

The most delectable seafood stew I’ve ever had! Saltwater Café Sauté. I could eat a gallon of the broth alone, an absolute must have! Thanks for the recommendation to our super awesome server Tricia! A must do when in Port Townsend!

The food was extremely enjoyable. Grilled salmon with rice pilaf delicious and The swordfish special with polenta was out of this world! The desert is a do not miss selection! Full bar and local beers make this restaurant a hit on the marina.

The crab risotto, peel and eat shrimp and rock fish were amazing, and the sevice even better. The risotto was well cooked with crab pieces/flavor subtle and well disbursed thoughout. Only thing I would chance would be to have shade/umbrella’s for the outdoor seating. It would have be awesome to sit on the deck but we opted inside instead since the sun was BAKING the deck!

A group of 9 of us came in on a Thursday afternoon and this place was bustling! A quick peruse of the menu and I was getting pretty excited after a flight from anchorage and drive from seattle. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, very seaside and quaint. The restaurant boasts a full bar, which is useful for when you’re getting reacquainted with family. Though the wine and beer list was good, the food was only so so. First, the good: deep fried oysters. The serving size was enough for most of us to sample, the oysters big and juicy and the accompanying tartar sauce tasted homemade. For lunch I ordered the grilled rockfish salad. The waiter told me that the rockfish they got in was not up to their standards so I subbed salmon instead. The menu is heavy on seafood, so I figured I couldn’t go wrong. The meals came at different intervals, leaving us waiting and wanting. I wasn’t struck by food envy though, until mine showed up. It was a small salad for 17 dollars. Some mixed greens, topped with a corn relish and maybe 3 oz piece of salmon that was slightly overcooked. And no dressing. Looking around, the other meals seemed quite drab as well. I was pretty floored by how dry my mom’s battered cod was. My sisters side salad with salmon was itty bitty, I’m talking like 7 bites, tops. My brother in law really disliked his sandwich and he never struck me as a picky eater. All in all, lunch was a bit of a let down for an outta towner like myself. On a side note, the waiter seemed new but was extremely great at balancing multiple tables on this busy afternoon.

Perfect June evening capped off by dinning on the deck as the sun came down on the Sound. Wonderful food, great location, and good service. This is the place for dinner and drinks! Small bar inside. Inside dinning and decent size deck with a fire pit in the middle.

I dined here for an early dinner on Tuesday, June 9. It was the only dark spot in an otherwise perfect day. I was predisposed to love this place, due to the recommendation of others and the very respectable view, so they had to work really hard to screw it up as badly as they did. I stood as the hostess counter over a minute before the hostess realized I was there(note: party of one). I took a table on the patio to enjoy the view. And then I waited. And waited. And waited some more. Servers were walking by me, but no one stopped. The woman at the neighboring table said, «I’m a local, so they aren’t just treating a tourist badly.» While sitting there, I heard other people talk about«Happy Hour.» Why was I not told about this? A server finally appeared, and I asked him about Happy Hour, and he went to get the HH menu. There was enough on there to satisfy me, and wines by the glass were $ 2 off! The catch was that you had to sit around the fire pit. Fine. I moved. The woman at the adjacent table moved as well. And then we waited. And waited. And waited some more. My server finally showed up, and I ordered two items off of the HH menu, and a glass of their sparkling wine. My server informed me that they were out of that sparkler, but he had just opened another one instead. Fine. I’m happy with that. The food finally arrived. Ahi poke comes on deep fried tortillas with no flavoring: no salt, or pepper, or wasabi, or soy, or anything else; nothing but average. The curried mussels were a different story; the menu stated that there would be precisely ten mussels in a curry sauce, and there were. However, of the ten, three were«bad»(and I discovered one by eating it … do you know what spoiled mussels taste like? You don’t want to know. The other two mussels were still shut, so they went into the shell bowl. No, I didn’t complain, because my server was nowhere around. I was ready for the bill, so I waited for the server. And waited. And waited some more. He finally showed up, I gave him my card, and he returned. I saw that the sparkler was $ 6, and remembered that was the price on the menu. What I forgot(until I was long gone from the restaurant) was that this was HH, and that sparkler should have been $ 4! Not a big deal, but on top of everything else, it was an annoyance. The issues are: 1) multiple servers who seem unable to provide basic service. 2) oblivious hostess who should have informed me about happy hour when she was seating me. 3) shocking slow and incompetent kitchen; the menu is really quite simple; there is nothing difficult or complex on it, and that’s A-OK for a place like this. However, whoever designed the menu should also be able to design techniques and procedures that allow this simple food to fly out of the kitchen, and be edible at the same time. Sometimes a great view can compensate for various deficiencies in a restaurant, but not this time.
