Stumbled upon this little gem totally by accident. Pleasantly surprised by this funk, fun, earthy little café. We came in close to the end of the café’s day, we were greeted warmly and quickly seated. The coffee was fresh & yummy. The 3 of us at the table had a mix of the menu. Blueberry pancakes… light & fluffy. A scramble & the omelete. Fresh locally, baked bread and creative flavor mixes for the egg dishes. I can’t say enough fantastic things about this place.

Hands down the best breakfast in Port Townsend and maybe even the whole damn Olympic Peninsula. It’s worth the wait for breakfast on the weekend.

Get in here. This is just the kind of breakfast joint I seek. Located in the heart of PTs working class dock area, friendly staff, down to earth atmosphere and delicious food. The French Toast is outstanding and as a vegetarian I thought their«pecan sausage» was on point within the Moose Bagel sandwich. Seldom are veggie«sausage» options good but here they = yum. They have their own coffee blend, organic and decent. All around a very good, earthy breakfast option you have to try if you’re hungry and in Port Townsend.

Hands down, best breakfast in the county! The corn beef hash is to die for. The blueberry pancakes are amazing, I dare you to try and eat two of them. This is one, maybe the only place when you order a side of bacon you actually get 4 thick slices of quality bacon. The lunches are equally as good, my favorites are the Moose Club and the Jomba(real corned beef Reuben) I will be back as often as possible!

Didn’t live up to the praise of others on this trip. Obviously a popular spot. Staff were all very friendly, but the food was not great. With basic bacon and eggs as my go to breakfast, there’s not a lot of creative options to wow me from place to place, but it’s easy to tell the difference between well executed and not. While not the worst ever, the same at another place in town, the day before, was clearly better. Pancakes were very large and were more cakey than most, but lacked any taste other than the taste of white flour. The red potatoes are the go to breakfast starch and formed the basis of many of their dishes, we’re just ok. I am not tempted to go back the next time we’re in town.

Terrific find for an early morning breakfast. As a vegan, breakfast places can be tricky; but Blue Moose had a veggie hash they happily made vegan for me. Staff are genuinely friendly. The place is small but that just lends itself to the friendly atmosphere. People in Port Townsend are really friendly! Blue Moose is located in the working dock area with boats everywhere. Very cool! They open at 6:30, probably to accommodate the workers in the area but it’s clear tourists like us love it too.

Never have been happier with a mom and pop style restaurant. You may have to wait in line, but worth the wait.

Always amazing! Worth the wait on weekends for brunch. All I can say is CORNEDBEEFHASH done so right… so perfect. Their hand cut mix of potatoes and the slow cooked flavor of the corned beef, just perfect. The way it should be done. And their Atkins special? Just perfect for the Mr who is equally as excited about good homemade biscuits and gravy as he is hash. One of our all time favorite spots.

Delivered as expected. Well made café breakfast. I had the Mexican omelette, which they could easily have phoned in, but they didn’t. My friend had the corned beef hash with sauerkraut, which may turn out to be the signature dish. And… Like any good breakfast place, you will wait a bit. Bring outside clothes to wait in.

I got the Mr. Sunshine — Cheesy eggs. Crisp bacon. Sweet cinnamon roll french toast. Yum. I got there at about 7 am and the place wasn’t crazy, but definitely full already. You can tell it’s a hit with the locals.

Very good breakfast joint– loads of flavor, quick service and great combinations. Only thing was it was crowded and not very easy to seat but after eating here I can see why

Perhaps the best short order breakfast spot my travels have run across in years. Small harborside dive among the docks with abundant, freshly prepared platters. Portions are huge and the service is snappy. I sampled a Saturday morning special scramble with chicken Florentine sausage. I especially liked that the peppers, onions and mushrooms were nicely sautéed and that there was a good amount of sharp white cheese distributed throughout(as opposed to the glop of processed cheddar that so many places slap on top). This was served with a fruit cup of fresh melon, plum and banana slices and a large, fluffy biscuit. The biscuits were excellent and my husband wolfed down a plate of them topped with freshly prepared sausage and gravy. As we were sitting on one of four counter stools in the tiny place, I had a clear view to the five-person team working to serve the large crowd of hungry folks. Everything was prepared fresh to order in a manner that is practically a dying art. Got to see the wide variety of plates — all scrumptious looking — and as all was visible including the dishwasher, can vouch that the place is clean. There is an al fresco space as well. A popular local spot and a must for visitors to Port Townsend. Economical, cool. Highly Recommended.

Eat with the locals! It’s in the rustic shipyard, but boy is it great! The staff is friendly and the portions are perfect! The French toast is amazing, the pancakes are the size of a plate and about 2 inches thick! Space is limited, so the earlier the better!

This place was the best food we had in port Townsend. The French toast was superb I only wish I could have gone back to try everything else. My whole family loved it. My mom loves the corned beef hash. As for me I want to try the biscuits next.

Food is good and service is great except for the old lady in the back that rollers her eyes when I wanted to change the order. I changed my mind on something about two minutes after I ordered. Sheesh… Customers can do that. If I waited 5 – 10 minutes and changed the order, I would’ve understand why she would be frustrated… C’mon though!

I had the veggie omelette and my hubby had the chicken fried steak. Admittedly we were both very hungry but this place hit the spot. The veggies are fresh, the coffee and bread are local and if you’re in Port Townsend looking for great diner food this place has great outdoor seating that I’d highly recommend.

Always service with a smile! I always get breakfast and everything I have tried has been delicious, especially the corned beef hash as it is to die for! It is fresh and chunky with big pieces of red potato and cubed corned beef, nothing like that salty mush that comes in a can. And the pancakes are HUGE! I literally dream about the hash, though… mmmmm my mouth waters just thinking about it! They only take cash or checks so make sure to plan ahead. Bring your appetite as the servings are rather large, making this place a great deal since the prices are already very reasonable. On weekends, especially in summer, there is often a bit of a wait but you can just grab a mug from the wall, fill it with some coffee and wait for a spot to open — trust me… It is worth it!

Yes, «Yay! I’m a fan!» says it all! Actually, I’d love to click on that fifth star but I can’t bring myself to for a couple reasons… First reason is they only take cash and checks. In this particular instance, we were all kind of sitting there patting our pockets having just gone to a wedding the day before! Luckily a person in our party had a nice large bill to cover all of us! Second reason for the missing star is the parking. We were on motorcycles and still had difficulty finding appropriate parking. Those two reasons alone, no others, as this place has stellar food and service! Yes, the Corned Beef Hash is everything you want it to be and then some! Crispy potatoes that are nice and soft on the inside and tender corned beef with some wonderful crispy edges make this dish perfection on a plate! The French Toast is like no other, thick and fluffy dipped in nice thick egg wash complete with a pecan maple butter all melty and sweet. I can’t forget to mention the very thick maple syrup that clings just perfectly to anything you put it on! The bacon has great flavor, the bagels are fresh, eggs cooked perfectly and biscuits really big and fluffy! The service is perfect! Friendly and attentive, filling waters and coffees regularly, always with a smile and sometimes some laughter along with us! The Blue Moose Café has a wonderful feel, warm and welcoming and local. I can’t wait to go on another ride and try some lunch offerings, I bet they’re just as good!
