I just had one of the worst bowel movements of my life. I had to push myself through the pain. Grimacing. I had to lie down after. I think it was the pork fried rice from last night. After a good 4 – 6 bites I noticed it was super dark and weird tasting. It was probably a few days old. Happy garden has gone way down hill. The pork fried rice was obviously bad. The crab rangoons we ordered were also soggy. My friend got the«filet mignon» special and was fairly certain it was a cheap cut. Never again.

Food is fine but you need to be clear when you order over the phone. If you give them your card info to pay, specify the number of the month rather than the name of the month. October is the tenth month, not the eighth.

Each time they forget something in my order and when you call they say no refunds, dont know how to do it, just get it next time you are in… that is just plain stealing money from people. The worst part was they new they forgot the items but just let us go… never even offered to bring it over… also saw them wash there hands in dirty bucket water and then continue to make the food… at least hide it

8 dollars for leafless bok choy? Ridiculous. The food was stale and frugal on the meat. Only go here if it’s your absolute last resort.

Okay now, this is coming from someone who used to live nearby and had Happy Garden as the go to Chinese takeout and has now moved south for the past 10 years or so. The thing is, Chinese food just isn’t the same down here. Whenever I’m back in town, I try to make my way over here for a quick or maybe drunken meal. Last weekend I was in town for a visit and out at the Bars with some friends. Leaving the next morning, I was accepting the fact that I likely wouldn’t get my northern Chinese food fix before I skipped town. That’s when my buddy suggested we sneak away from our group at the bar to satisfy my craving… brilliant. We hauled ass down the street and shared an order of pork fried rice, chicken fingers, and boneless spareribs. For me, the kicker is the brown gravy Boston style lobster sauce to pour over the rice. Everywhere else in the country it’s a white sauce with shrimp and it’s gross. We ordered a small lobster sauce to share as well and it was the perfect drunken meal to satisfy my northern Chinese food craving. There’s no atmosphere in the place and the service isn’t particularly excellent but, it’s one of the foods I crave after having been gone for so long. If I still lived nearby, probably not too exciting but, still a great take out spot.

I have used this Chinese restaurant on and off for 20 years and finally got fed up with this service and decrepit tasting food. Don’t bother complaining because all they do is argue with you and make you feel as if they’re doing you a favor buying thier food. The food is greasy, not enough ingredients in the food when you expect to get it the way it supposed to be made properly. Consumer stay away from this place there are other Chinese restaurants around Plymouth that make food much better and the customer service is much better than happy garden call it unhappy garden because they lost a customer here.

I go to Happy Garden whenever I visit Plymouth. It is the only restaurant I have been to since I first discovered it. My whole family loves the authentic Chinese taste of their food. Everything is absolutely filled with flavor and unique taste only available at happy garden. Best Chinese restaurant I have ever been to! I always look forward to fulfilling my craving for satisfaction and chewing on a little piece of heaven

Let me say, don’t bother calling there to complain about something because they will just argue with you and tell you you are wrong(for me, more then once have they ruined the rice, pork fried being burnt and house rice being spicy, this happened twice on both). And now they may be giving you the same number of things in their dinners but they are way smaller items. chicken fingers are little, teriyaki is half the size. Not going to bother complaining, just not going ever again. its useless. Oh and the won’t replace burnt or over spiced food! I know I think its really fun to have to have my rice replaced. That was sarcasm. hate being treated like I am lying.

I tried this place on the first night that I moved to Plymouth. It was 10 pm and I didnt know who delivered so I drove to the center and saw this place that looks like it should be in a corner in Dorchester. Definately only for take out, I cant think of a time that Ive ever seen anyone eating in there. Right next to a piercing parlor. I cant believe that very few reviews have brought up the great chicken wings. Me and my wife generally order about $ 50 of food which lasts for 3 meals. I cant think of a time when they made the smallest error in an order.

So-so Chinese. Not cheap enough to be worth it. We read good reviews and everyone recommended the crab rangoons, so we tried them, they were good but nothing special. We have eaten here a few times and each time worse than the time before. Will not be going back. Asia Tasty is FAR superior!

Had this for the first time last night and ended up with food poisoning. After talking to a couple of different people the next day the same thing happened to them. If I could give it –1 star I would. Save ur $ and ur stomach. Not worth it

Reliable. Have gotten takeout here a few times. Phone ordering is quick and friendly. Order was filled accurately and quickly. Lots of soy sauce, duck sauce, rolls, etc. Egg Foo Young is pretty good. House fried rice is also tasty but seemed a bit to oily. As previous Unilocalers have mentioned, their crab rangoon is a treat: perfectly fried and tasty, and you get a lot for the money. Veg soup is very good! No quarrels with price, service, or quality.

Last Saturday my boyfriend and I ordered takeout from the happy garden restaurant. I must admit this was not worth the 50.00 dollar I spent on this dinner. 1. The driver was over 20 minute late. 2. The 2liter coke I ordered with my meal was not even cold and it was flat. 3. The shanghai beef I ordered was not spicy at all it tasted like beef stew. 4. My boyfriend ended up being having the stomach flu.

How great is this place! First of all, the inside reflects the same ambiance of an Eastern Bloc outhouse. As for service, When you call ahead to place your order, they answer with some facsimile of «Happy Garden». After you hang up, you are left with zero certainty that they understood what you wanted. On to the Food, Unlike virtually every other Chinese food joint, Happy Garden has actually managed to compile a combo plate that has nothing offensive tasting on it… the F plate. It is a bounty of dark fried rice, teriyaki beef, ribs and golden fried fingers. Everywhere else has two out of three items you want on it, plus some snot and onions like mixture. And a $ 47 substitution charge for what you and any sane person would want on it. If your arrival at the restaurant happens to bring you face to face with what I can only assume to be the owner, you are in for an experience most Americans have never witnessed. After you hydroplane across the greasy floor, you come upon a set of foreign eyes so filled with the hate of your presence, it’s like acid on your soul. I made the gravest error in asking for another thimble of hot mustard to go with my $ 50+ order… he said«No». I discovered only later to find that no mustard was in the bag to begin with. Don’t get me wrong, I love this place. I wouldn’t change it for the world. The food is everything that you want Chinese food to be. Chicken wings so crispy on the outside and moist on the inside it makes you believe all the other joints are boiling their wings. The cook staff looks like nothing short of a gang of war prisoners and there is not a chance that they are paid in actual money. I’m fairly certain they are housed in a container ship right off the harbor. Someone ought to look into it. Happy Garden… happy eating.

Okay, so let me get started by stating, kind of like a disclaimer here, that I’ve only had their food at night… …and it was awesome. My girlfriend and I stopped by here a couple times to see what we could see regarding their fried menu options; they have the typical chinese place fare, which is exactly what we were looking for. We’re kind of like beef teriyaki conneseurs, if you would(har har har! A joke!) Our latest joint, the Rainbow Café in Sagamore had closed down a couple months ago, and we’re still looking for a good place that has comparatively equal price: quality ratio. So how does Happy Garden stack up? I would say allllmosttttt ttthheerreeee. Like I said earlier, we went at night, and being Plymouth town proper we figured that it would be crazy busy. When I went in to pick up the stuff, however, it was completely empty. The cooks were sitting around just kind of talking, and everyone seemed laid back. This was a good sign, as anyone who has done any of their own personal frying knows that when the oil isn’t being used as much, the food has more of a natural flavor rather than EVERYTHING tasting like chicken. We ordered the staples: beef teriyaki, pork fried rice and some boneless spare ribs. The ribs were unlike anything we had ever had before. They werent drenched in sauce or fatty; it was like they were marinating in the sauce and then cooked that way. They were moist, and pretty good for non-fried fare. The beef teriyaki was tender, fell off the stick, and had a great soy taste that didn’t mask the beef underneath it. The rice was amazing. I’ve noticed a trend lately of chinese places having rice that’s burnt and has a slight cigarette after taste, and that is such a turn off. But, somehow, like Rainbow Café, this place was able to make rice that really stood out. One thing to mention too are the little food bags they give you. Every take out meal comes with a roll, 2 fortune cookies, your assortment of sauces, and this strange black opaque sauce that comes in a little dish that I had never had before. It smells like duk sauce, but looks completely different. When I tasted it, I was in heaven. It has the consistancy of a thin bbq sauce, the taste of a much sweeter duk, with a hint of cherries, and like I said, is almost black. Overall, I would certianly go back to this place. If you’re ever around Rt 3 by exit 6 in Plymouth, check out Happy Garden in the center of town. They’re open quite late, they deliver, the prices are pretty reasonable for a tourist area, and they are very, very nice.

The best Chinese food I have had in my life. I am from California and have never had Chinese food this flavorful. Great prices and great portions. Everything here is amazing, esp the lobster and cream cheese rangoon and their duck sauce. I am thankful this place is not in LA as I would eat it every day and surely get fatter than I already am.
