My lady friends & I dined here with reservations for ten. Our waiter was pretty prompt with orders. I had the grouper taco. It was good. My friend ordered from the dinner special-chicken pot pie. The chicken & vegetables were big chunks & there was barely any gravy. We flagged one of the waiters(who was not our waiter) for a question & his reply was«I think that’s the pot pie… I’m not sure…» with an annoyed look on his face. Our waiter returns & immediately offered something else to my friend. He did explained that their pot pie is normally made this way. Two other meals were sent back because they were lukewarm. Our waiter did the best he could. The other waiter, well plain rude. Back of the house, hmm.

I recently came here purely as a result of Barrio being overcrowded. For a long time I avoided EG Nick’s, due to its poor Unilocal rating. But after having just dined here with 3 friends, I really cannot seem to justify whatsoever the low rating. The ambience is very cozy. The food(we all got different dishes and shared) was above-average to great. The draft list was fairly impressive. The servers were friendly and attentive. I really cannot say a bad thing. Frankly nothing is stopping me from giving this a 5⁄5 Star, other than the fact that I try to reserve 5⁄5 for out-of-this-world dining experiences. I absolutely recommend EG Nick’s over several other competitors in the DTP area.

I don’t understand the bad reviews. Fire burger was pretty good but appetizers were the place to be. I’d recommend a few starters and some good local beers.

2.5 stars, mostly for their amazing bread. Went for a work lunch function. I was nervous because I’d not been here before, and the reviews are hideous. They brought out the bread immediately, which was so dang good. I thought maybe it’s not going to be too bad. The bread tricked me! I split Southern Chicken Tenders and Fish and Chips with my friend M. Neither appeared cut and breaded on-site. I had the Mac for my side. Average. M got the fries, which were also just average. They kept bringing more bread, which kept us from revolting. Drink refills were rare. I concur with the 2.5 star score for this restaurant. I will not return as there are so many really good restaurants nearby.

Tried this place for the first time yesterday for lunch. It was absolutely wonderful. We’re from the opposite side of town and just chose this on a whim while walking by. We could not have been more pleased, and later found out they’ve been around for about 15 years. I had the chicken picata and my wife had the Boston bluefish, preceded by lobster bisque and tomato basil soups. The soups and main dishes were fresh and tasty. The picata was a generous portion of quality chicken, lightly breaded and sauteed in wine, capers and artichokes. Served on a bed of fresh spaghetti. Extremely flavorful with a better balance of flavors than most other variations of this dish. And the lobster bisque was stellar as well. The Boston bluefish was lightly breaded with an unusually delicious flavor, and was served on rice pilaf with vegetables. Even the sides were exceptional. So EVERYTHING was really tasty, fresh and delicious. My wife loved her tomato basil soup as much as I loved my bisque. Loved those hot fresh rolls they served before the entrees too. The quality and presentation were far above our expectations for the price. Actually, for any price. We really could not have enjoyed our meals more. Luncheon menu is pretty extensive and we found ourselves trying to choose between lots of great alternatives. I guess that will require a number of future visits. Crowd seemed very thin for a midweek lunch — nice atmosphere, very quiet at that time. Waitress Stacey did a great job too — prompt, professional and friendly. The manager(I’m blanking on the name) even stopped by to check on us and shared with us some details about our meal(pasta made fresh locally, which explained why it was so good…). Looks like they have aj great beer selection too, although we didn’t try. Place is clean and attractive and well-run. In spite of this distance, this place goes on our short list of favorite restaurants.

The atmosphere is very relaxed and so is the wait staff and management. They almost treat you like a fast food chain which I never go to because of the bad food and bad service. I honestly have given them multiple tries hoping for better results and the have epically failed on every issue. The location is great and the potential is there but the effort is just disappointing. The cleanliness is less than desirable unfortunately as I’ve always had to ask for new silverware and glasses. The restrooms army terrible but again could be cleaner and better stocked. The food is either hit or miss but of it’s a miss they don’t go out of there way to fix the issue and almost seemed annoyed at the inconvenience of having to address the issue. I guess next time I come in I’ll just go back and cook my meal. I don’t recommend this establishment and I hate leaving bad reviews but this one is well deserved.

This is really a good, dependable eatery to go. We have been here a number of times and Chris is the best. Food is good and we tried the burger, salmon, whitefish, salads and a few of their Italian offerings. The beef tornadoes are really good. This is where the locals go for a tried and true experience. Our only improvements are we would more IPAs, a larger selection of wine and a less crowded patio. Some of the outdoor seating is really tight.

I have been a long-time guest of this restaurant and despite newer entrants to downtown Plymouth, EG Nick’s is still a place to gather with friends. On a recent evening, I stopped in to help celebrate a friend’s birthday. While we enjoyed oven-baked bread and butter, we caught up with each other’s lives and reviewed the menu. The menu includes many familiar items. My favorites here include the coconut shrimp, planked whitefish, and ribs. We decided on the Bang Bang shrimp to start: small shrimp that is coated and fried and then covered in a mayo/Thai sweet and hot chili sauces. While the white fish with the wreath of piped mashed potatoes is particularly tasty, I went with the hearty pork shank, instead. The braised pork was fork-tender, with the meat melting onto the bed of mashed potatoes. It is served with mixed vegetables of sautéed green beans, zucchini disks, green pepper slices, onions, and mushrooms and served with an earthy sauce; the meal was comfortingly good. Dessert was okay; I only had a few bites of the key lime pie and the remainder continues to sit in my fridge(9 days later). Less okay was the complimentary birthday brownie sundae where the ice cream had melted. My friend was good natured about it(she has such a positive outlook), but I was inwardly dismayed that it was served to her. She indicated that she liked the brownie and polished it off. Service was good.

Was at EG Nicks to hear the fabulous Big Ray and the Motor City Kings on Friday night. Terrific band! Wonderful bartender, believe her name is Deann? Alas, the food I ordered was inedible, a Caesar salad with chicken. Guess I did not read the small print as this salad did not resemble a classic Caesar in any way, shape or form. Loaded with sliced onions, soggy red pepper pieces, old tasting lettuce(the kind that has been sitting in musty water) about a cup of croutons(what!) and about ONE-SIXTH of a cup of teeny pieces of some sort of processed chicken. It was appalling, and I threw it away. Should have asked for my $ 12 back but was with people in the tent enjoying the music. Very, very sad that they would call that a Caesar or even think of serving such a sub-standard mess.

Came here with co-workers for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. This place has a nice vibe to it. Nice menu selection. I ordered the pot roast nachos appetizer and it was huge. At that point, there was no need to order a meal. It was delicious. The service, the drinks, everything was wonderful. Will definitely return.

I enjoy going to E.G. Nick’s. The service is great always timely, and food is overall great. Highly recommend this place for a girls night out, a night on the town, or for families. The drinks are also delicious.

I’m trying to figure out how I feel about this place. I want to like it but I really don’t know if I do. I feel like I’ve probably eaten here more than any other place in Plymouth but this is because its the fall back option when you have to wait forever elsewhere on a Friday or Saturday night. Pros: They do have a decent selection of beer Cons: It just isn’t luxurious and feels a little dirty When you walk in your greeted quickly… by the aroma of a stinky cheese. Originally that’s what I thought. Maybe it was from a cheese. Maybe it is from a cream sauce or dip; however, I’m starting to lean with it being from carpeting in a restaurant. I don’t know why they have carpeting, but they do and it just comes across as grimey. You are then greeted promptly by their hostess and it’s usually a very nice girl and you get a seat quite quickly! The food options cover a wide array of tastes, which always kind of worries me because then you have to contemplate how fresh is this food. The complimentary bread sticks definitely do a good job of scratching an itch. You will probably need to request some of their bland sauce to complete them though. I’ve had the fire cracker shrimp(only one time and for a reason.) The sauce isn’t very balanced and ruins the shrimp. The michigan apple salad would be the only thing I had that I would reorder. The ribs are forgettable. Mac and Cheese is insanely rich, which you expect but the flavor doesn’t justify the insane amount of calories. I was pretty silly and ordered the spaghetti and meat sauce as a side one time… don’t make that mistake. I’ve seen someone slip on the floor by the bar numerous times. It happened when the owner(maybe manager) was right there and it doesn’t seem to be a priority to them. I fear for the lives of anyone older than 50 walking on that floor because it’s definitely a hazard. If anyone I’m with ever falls there I will be very upset. I shouldn’t have to fear for my life when walking to the bathroom or putting in my trivia answer. Proceed with caution or consider it their indoor ice skating rink. I find it hard to recommend this place to anyone. If you do find yourself in Plymouth, maybe stop by for a drink as you wait for your reservation elsewhere. The food is subpar but beer selection isn’t too bad at all.

I have been traveling to various states and cities recently and have just made my way to Michigan. Upon walking around cute downtown Plymouth, we noticed that a lot of places to eat were closed on a Monday, which seemed a bit odd. Anyways, we decided on this restaurant and sat outside. Our waitress was attentive with getting our drink order. When the mojito arrived it wasn’t really made properly. There was one mint leaf in it and I looked very watery. I ordered a steak salad. It was really good but didn’t have much steak on it and it was mostly ice berg lettuce, which I could just simply chop on my own. Basically, take notice to the previous Unilocal reviews of only 2 stars and maybe eat somewhere else.

I always suggest E.G. Nicks first when going out to eat. I absolutely love this restaurant! My favorite place in Plymouth! I normally do not get salmon but the server really sold it so I decided to give it a try, Yum! Their shrimp tacos, house salad, steak, chicken wings, and French onions soup are some of my favorite things. Also, I have never met a server here that I didn’t like. Friendly, fast, and knowledgable! Can’t wait to go back!

Awesome! We visited today for the first time. The fried brie appetizer was outstanding! We decided to try and share some different food for our entrees. Ordered the mac & cheese(amazing with bacon & chicken strips) the Bang Bang Shrimp(perfect! Super tasty!) And a crock of the lobster bisque(amazing! Could taste the sherry!) Someone knows their way around this kitchen! Service was super and very friendly! We will be back!

Arrived at the hostess podium and we were seated quickly, we read the menus and everything sounded delicious so we made our order, waitress arrived and my fiancé asked what’s the soup of the day and the waitress replied with ummm we ran out of that yesterday, what kind of answer is that. Isn’t the whole«soup of the day» aspect is to just pick a different soup every day. Anyways we continued and ordered the lobster bisque, which we each took a couple bites out of it and both agreed that it tasted like socks.(It’s would of been nice if it was removed from are bill because both bowls clearly weren’t touched) So moving on blah blah blah service was slow yadda yadda we received our appetizers we ordered their potato chip dish that came covered in Alfredo sauce, green onions, and blue cheese, the chips were freshly made and delicious the Alfredo and blue cheese was different but some how all worked together so my mood was definitely shifted after the stupid reply the waitress made earlier. ok life is good we finally get our main courses oh wait by the way my girl got salad for her appetizer too and said it was great she also minuses all the veggies and just eats lettuce and ranch. Now back to the the real food, the waitress returned with a beautifully plated twin filet mignons laid across some mashed potatoes and she brought the Demi mushroom onion glaze on the side like I asked for. So I cut into one filet and it’s cooked well done but I’m starving so I’m going to eat it anyways so what better way to loosen up a tight overcooked steak drown it in some sauce Boom! it worked but I also wouldn’t call it a Demi glaze try a mushroom onion gravy with a fancy name, but I continue to eat it thank god the other steak wasn’t cooked as much or I would of flipped the table, so now my last chance of happiness is the ultimate Mac and cheese that I’m going to Bogart from the girl … So I thought, epic let down chicken in the Mac was tuff and the cheese sauce was mediocre at best if I had 5 thumbs I would turn them all down. in all honesty the best thing this place has going for them was there fresh bread and butter and their adorable fruit flies I will not return again.

I had hoped the reviews were wrong when my brother planned a dinner with some friends here… The restaurant was incredibly slow for a Saturday night during the holidays. Apparently everyone already knows to avoid this place. We were seated quickly but from seating to bill, we spent an entire hour and a half there, and for no other reason than painfully slow service. I wish I had kept track of how long it took us to get stuff from time of order! On top of snail-like service, the bread basket came and there were raw dough rolls! Seriously?! Someone had to put that in there like that! When I pointed it out to the waitress(not angry, just wanted to tell her so she wouldn’t serve it like that to others) she took it away and was unapologetic. I started with a cup of the turkey chili which simply was not good; while a little spicy, the consistency was thin and watery, maybe the last of the pot. I had the apple orchard salad for dinner which was a bowl of iceberg lettuce topped with way too many dried cranberries, kraft-like shredded cheese, chicken with NO flavor, a few apple slices, and it was missing the«toasted nuts.» It really had no flavor at all. Two at my table ordered the fish tacos and they laughed at how bad they were as they tried to eat them. Two others ordered burgers and seemed to be happy enough with them. We spent the drive home talking about how bad it was. I don’t know how this place stays in business as a restaurant, especially in a place like Plymouth. Oh, and my fork had food in it. Another delightful detail of my experience. Bad food and slow service. I don’t think you could pay me to go back here. Don’t waste your time or money.

It’s been a very long time since I visited this restaurant, so I along with a friend decided to go back and have our favorite menu items. We were seated in the bar area and waited close to 10 minutes for our drinks. Then finally the order was taken, about 30 minutes later, wouldn’t you know it, we got our food, finally! We didn’t let it ruin our night because we were deep into our conversation, but once the food came, it went absolutely down hill from there. I ordered a simple salad but minus the bacon and it was loaded with bacon. My friend ordered a greek salad with steak done med, came back well done t. How do you possible mess up either one of those salads. I couldn’t eat my salad with the bacon so I sent it back and asked for the manager. My friend was upset but so hungry that he continued to eat his salad minus the steak. I asked our server Debbie to get the Manager, Chris came over and you can tell the hesitation on his face, like oh great again! I explained to him the problem of my salad then the other salad. He literally just stood there with this dumb look on his face, obviously showing me that he didn’t know how to do his job. The more he stood there sounding like an idiot, the angrier I was getting. Instead of giving me the menu to pick something out, he’s arguing with me on when we put the time in for our order. The main focus is customer satisfaction. This visit alone has shown me that they are struggling to keep this restaurant which was once a little hidden gem in Plymouth to going to be shut down perhaps by the end of summer or sooner. They once took time and pride into making their guests feel as if they were appreciative. So many guests will not come back due to the unqualified management staff. I sure will never return and nor recommend it to no one to give that place a try.

I wanted to go here after seeing their cool vodka ice bar during the ice fest on the morning news. They had a shot ski and an ice luge. Svedka vodka was the sponsor and had a couple specialty drink mixes which were pricey and ok at best. The Svedka girls were mingling in the crowd handing out specialty cups, hats, and other trinkets which was cool. I’m pretty sure the outside deck was waaaaay beyond capacity as we looked like sardines packed together. I was excited to try the luge, but due to the warmer than usual weather it had melted quite a bit and they shut it down. So we then decided to do a shot ski. Come to find out after the fact, the bartender charged us(me and my bf) for all four shots and the other couple we did it with for their two shots. not cool at all!!! For dining at a table inside we were told would be an hour and fifteen minute wait. understandable with the ice fest going on, but when we walked through we saw several empty tables??? The bathroom was gross. It looked like it hadn’t been tended to for days and there were paper towels piled up out of the garbage can and all over the floor. The dispenser was out of towels and there was a paper towel roll sitting in some water on the counter. Ewwww!!! I couldn’t get out of there fast enough!!! We ventured out back to the party tent which had a $ 2 cover with a band. The band was great! A variety of cover tunes which prompted a lot of dancing. We met the owner — he was bartending in the tent, he seemed down to earth and super friendly. Had I known about the double charge earlier(shot ski) at that point, I would have told him… unfortunately the other couple didn’t mention it until later. We didn’t eat here, just enjoyed the party. Clean up your bathroom puhleeeez!!!

Came in here for a bday party a few weeks back. We had a table of about 12 – 15 people so it was no small feat for the server. She did seem a little overwhelmed. It probably didn’t help that we were all drinking and ordering drinks at different times, so I have to cut her a little slack. I ordered the salmon and it was very good. I also tried the pot roast nachos that someone else ordered. They were good, but not as rave-tastic as the person made them out to be. Overall… not a bad experience, but nothing to run back to this place for either.
