The food, staff, and owner are excellent. I have been coming to Kimura at the Pembroke Pines location for the past few months and we just love it. Unfortunately they are closing –June 5th2011 — and it is just too sad especially with just a great staff. Honestly the money is worth it because you will have a great time with the atmosphere, food, and staff are excellent.

I have eaten at this location 4 times and each time it was more inconsistent than the last. The food is good, the sushi is good — I cannot argue that. My first visit(Friday night 7:30pm) brought me there because of a coupon on and I was pleased but of course I had a discounted coupon and was willing to forgoe the slow service, the location was definitely understaffed with CHEFS and overwhelmed. I expressed my displeasure to my waiter who was very good and he bought me a beer, which I did not ask for. My second visit(Saturday night 7:00am) was the exact same, slow CHEF service but luckily I had the same waiter who was also sharing my pain. The chef on this night was not talented and in a horrible mood and it showed. This time I decided to speak with the manager and these are the quotes of his responses. In relation to the slow time service«finding good chefs is hard and I had to let some go» In relation to the overall slow experience«come back any night but friday or saturday and it will be better, you see you are coming at the busiest time» In relation to my displeasure and desire to recommend and eat at local businesses«next time you come I will take care of you» however he did not ask my name, give me his card and or a certificate so was he even going to remember me. I pushed my name on him. My third visit(Friday night 8:00pm) I immediately approached the manager to make him be good on taking care of me and loe and behold he had no idea who I was and made me feel like a schmuck for even asking. Again thankfully I had the same waiters(these 2 kids are still there) The food service from the Chef was slow again! Could this even be happening. It was so slow that the manager came over to apologize to the table. He did on this night buy me a sake, but lets face it for the price of this type of food a sake does not cut it. My fourth and final visit(Last night — Saturday 7:45pm) was one in the same as far as inconsistency. Immediately upon entering we were told they were busy and that a large party was getting ready to leave so we could sit at the bar. I immediately ordered 5 pieces of sushi and we were seated at a table within 5 minutes, off to a good start. NOT, the openness of the location allows you to see the sushi bar and my sushi sat ready for 13 minutes, yes I timed it. On this night my usual waiter was off the game. I walked to the sushi bar and told the manager that my sushi was ready and can i just take it, he then said«I will get it for you sir», I said why did not you get it 10 minutes ago, I have watched you walk by it 20 times. The sushi was good. The chef shows up and starts to prepare our order? what, where is the salad and soup? I told the chef we did not have those yet and he told me they are coming. the soup came while he was cooking but no salad. After he was done cooking we said, what happened to the salad and he said the waiter must have forgot, the waiter, sir you are cooking right in front of us, my wife thought he was drunk? we did get our salad after our meal was cooked with no apologies as to why it came late, but they should switch that anyway I like salad with my meal. Long and short — restaurants need to understand that we are customers are spending our precious time and money on their places and expect consistent food and service and they should appreciate our even attending their locations with all the competition in that market. In the end we will never go here again and would recommend to anyone we know to never go here either simply for the fact that the manager is so out of touch with customers and talks to you in a way that he expects you wont go back. The food remains good but that is half the battle. Hibachi restaurant are all about the experience. Can you say Kitchen Nightmares.

Great experience for a night out, me and my friends always go there for a good time. The food is great every-time we eat there. The owner is always present and is one of the funniest, kindest, and greatest people i’ve met. He always pleasent and polite. I definitely recomend trying it!

Came here last week after scanning Pines for a spot to eat. My mom and I arrived 15 min. before the restaurant opened but instead of sending us away, the manager encouraged us to get seated, let us look over the menu, and sent a waiter over to get our drink order. Our waiter Carlos, like the manager, did his best to make us feel comfortable… which wasn’t that hard to do since we were the only ones dining at that time. After scanning the menu, we decided on the seasame chicken and hibatchi steak. The menu was a little pricey for a dare I say it… benihana knockoff :-((sorry). However; the service and the food made it worth it. The food may not be what others consider«great» but it was good enough for me. And with Kimura being the only Japanese restaurant closest to me, I’ll be coming back soon.

The interior was lovely. The food was good, but not GREAT(my father and I kept comparing the dishes to the ones served at Benihanas). The chicken broth soup was flat in favor(I added a pinch of salt which improved it). My entrée was the chicken and shrimp and my father had the filet minon, shrimp, and lobster. The shrimp was tasty and so was the chicken(although I was not crazy about the sauce that was used on the chicken). I tried some of my father’s lobster and it was different(not bad or particularly good, just different) from any way that I’ve have shrimp before. I absolutely loved the ginger sauce though, it was also pefrect and was delicious on my steamed white rice!

Nice addition to the area. I do not know of any other Japanese Steakhouse/Seafood restaurants in Pembroke Pines. Directly across from Pembroke Lakes Mall.(Next to Ale House) Great location, nice décor, good service. When you order the Hibachi, you get a choice of two different kinds of soup and a salad. We both had the Chicken and Mushroom soup. It was light, with a very nice broth. The salad had ginger dressing that was thicker than most but very tasty. We did not sit at the Hibachi table, because we were in a hurry and did not need the whole show. The restaurant is large inside with many Hibachi tables. Off to the side they have a cute sushi bar with four chairs. They offer great drinks, no happy hour. I decided to go with JLohr Cabernet Sauvignon, paired perfectly with my entrée. Entrée: Fillet with special Kimura sauce– white steamed rice and grilled vegetables. Hubby ordered Steak and Shrimp combo, steamed rice and fresh vegetables. The vegetables consisted of Zucchini, onions, mushrooms, cooked to a nice crisp and very tasty. The steamed rice was very sticky. Both of our steaks had good flavor and the amount of food was ridiculous. We were both able to finish half of our dinner’s. The Kimura sauce and soy sauce were so good. I could have ate a whole plate of the fresh grilled vegetables while dipping them into the Kimura sauce. It was the pink orange sauce. To me it is known as yum yum sauce. The prices all range from $ 19.95 to $ 37. Typical for the most part. Sushi and Sashimi selections. Children’s menu. It was good, maybe better if we would have experienced the whole Hibachi entertainment. Next time…

Decided to give this place a try. from the looks of the inside, they have completely redone the interior, as this used to be Hops. Looks can be deceiving. Decided to sit at one of the few tables, as its mostly a hibachi grill setting. Started off by ordering a roll and chirashi, which took about 30+ minutes to make. There is only one sushi chef, and there were 2 orders in front of us, which were about 2 rolls a piece. After the food was brought to the table, and having a first bite, you can tell when the sushi is good, and it certainly was not. The chirashi had warm rice, which it is not supposed to have. The roll was ok, but was on par with getting sushi from Publix… I will not be visiting this establishment again…
