I can appreciate a badass. I’m one myself. But I don’t understand why, in a restaurant, a badass would be sitting on a counter. This was one of the first things I noticed when I entered The Pizza Lady a couple of weeks ago: a badass sitting on one of the food prep counters. The lady who helped me was clearly in a rush, hardly looking at me, but she was courteous enough. Everyone else(including the badass on the counter) seemed like they had seen better days. Needless to say, I was a little put off by this. Since joining the area a few years ago, I’ve heard many a person rave about soupy. «You must try some Rhode Island soupy,» they all say. What’s a soupy? Some kind of sausage from Rhode Island. Honestly, I tried a bit a year or so ago(in Seattle of all places – a guy went home to Rhode Island and brought some back out west with him) and didn’t see what all the fuss was about. Things changed when I tried The Pizza Lady’s soupy pizza. I don’t know how else to say it, but it’s like soupy was invented for this pizza. First of all, the pizza *looks* pretty standard. It’s not the burnt style, it’s not the square-slice style; it’s just regular pizza. The cheese, however, is unlike anything I’ve had before: It doesn’t stretch, it sort of just rips apart when you bite it. I promise you, it’s a pleasant surprise. Anyway, back to the soupy. On pizza, it’s like the distinguished cousin of pepperoni. Everyone likes pepperoni and is used to him, but then soupy shows up and demonstrates what pepperoni could be if he only applied himself. In short, this is good, unique pizza. Note that the place is take out(and maybe delivery?) only; there’s no dining room. All in all, I had a pretty standard experience when you sum the unique pizza with the counter-top bad-assery.

First of all this place is so popular sometimes it’s hard to get thru — like a radio station for requests back in the day. Food was prepared in under 30 and ready and piping hot when I picked up. Staff was friendly and welcoming to a first timer. Pizza was right amount of crisp, not a smidgen of grease in or out of the box. Ricotta was fresh and the pizza was flavorfully seasoned. Chili Cheese Fries were loaded with both, somehow not soggy, and a total guilty pleasure now. If you aren’t eating here, that’s odd.

I love this pizza! Nowhere else in the area has quite the same style, so it’s always a go to when I’m in the area. My only issue with this place is the the service/attitude of the staff is more often than not incredibly rude. If I didn’t enjoy the pizza so much it would be a deal breaker, but, I suppose it is what it is.

Their pizza is good, the rest of the food is not bad. They have delivery so is very convenient. Customer service is great. The only complain I really have is the time for delivery. I live just minutes away and still take them 45 minutes or longer when we do ask for delivery. They should have an extra delivery person or extra cook to speed things up.

I am in total agreement with Debrin S. Not my style, but my husband is from around here so he loves it. It is good food, not«real» pizza but real good. Soupy is the favorite, and the soupy grinders are the best thing ever. Under«Grinder» in Wiki there should be a photo of Pizza Lady’s Soupy Grinder!

It’s good for what it is. This isn’t my favorite style of pizza(I’m a die hard New Haven apizza kinda girl) and yet I liked it. This style of pizza is common in these parts i.e. the CT/RI state line. Greek-ish style, more body to it like pan pizza but not Sicilian or Chicago style. The sauce tends to be sweeter than tangy. A serious crunch to the crust. Not greasy. Light on the sauce which makes it slightly dry. The soupy(cured hard sporesatta) pizza is a favorite. The plain was satisfying. They also serve grinders, soups, salads, chili, retail. ONLYTAKEOUT or delivery. Friendly, young yet capable staff. The interior is very simple yet clean.

I’ve only tried their sheet pizza. I’ve attended a few parties that served Pizza Lady sheets and I wasn’t all that impressed. I’m from New York and maybe thats why my pizza standards are so high. Don’t get me wrong. The pizza isn’t horrible but with so many other tastier options in Westerly, I’ll pass on Pizza Lady.

Oh yeah. the Soupy pizza was all that I was promised. I have no other experience other than having this pizza delivered while I was in the area. The ingredients were awesome and the crust was a classic Greek-style.

The pizza was pretty good. I enjoyed the crispy crust, good cheese, good bacon, delicious sweet BBQ sauce(i prefer BBQ to tomato sauce on any pizza with bacon or chicken). My girlfriend enjoyed the mushroom pizza and said the sauce was a nice balance of sweet and tangy. Now, that being said, the pizza was good, but not great. The mozzarella sticks were a RIPOFF! 6 bucks for 6 sticks. That price isn’t unacceptable or unheard of if the quality is good, but they tasted like they came out of the microwave. No crunch at all, very artificial tasting cheese and bland breading(little to no seasoning). VERY disappointing. The worst part is, for good(not great, just good) pizza(2 large 1 toppings) and bad mozzarella sticks(2 orders) we were charged 42DOLLARS!!! That is obscene! Maybe Ct, is a little different than Massachusetts(regarding what they consider a fair price for pizza and frozen microwaved mozzarella sticks), but when I saw that total, I was beyond annoyed. I gave the driver a really good tip(about 7 or 8 bucks I think), and considering it took them an hour and ten minutes(it was a tuesday night, and we were only 2 miles from them) to get there, and the food ranged from horrible to decent and was totally over priced, I probably should have given him less. I rarely pick national/corporate chains over locally owned places, but I would choose Papa G’s, or Domino’s over this joint anytime.

Pros: These guys have the best soupy pizza! Grinders are good, pizzas are good, sweet pizza is addicting. The wraps can be hit or miss, but are still pretty decent. Buffalo tenders are middle-of-the-road and strangely, have minced garlic — which doesn’t bother me, but is different. Overall, there is nothing really bad here. They are good enough that we order almost weekly from them. Cons: Delivery takes an hour… at least. The order is not always right when you get it. They have gotten better about this and will fix anything if you call, but can still be annoying after waiting so long for delivery and finding out something is wrong or missing. Example: last time we ordered, I ordered the buffalo tenders — I ended up with wings. They have a website that’s not listed in their info above:
