SLOW. Took over 10 mins to bring out our drinks and our waitress brought out the appetizers at the same time… If you can wait 30 minutes for drinks and appetizers go for it… Took over an hour and 20 minutes to get 2 drinks, a cheese plate, and our check when it wasn’t even busy. Severely disappointed and annoyed. Will NEVER return.

First things first: the restaurant exterior is beautiful… The interior is exquisite. The alcohol selection is fairly extensive. I enjoy the short ribs plate. Had multiple selections of appetizers there… The curry mussel was upsetting. I have had many curry recipes but the one here was close to bland with too much coconut milk. The spicy marinara mussels were exceptional though. I would highly suggest trying the shorts ribs and hummus plate. All in all, a great date place. I wish the food was a bit more appealing. Would return to this place and give it another chance.

The one time I went here I liked it. Service was good. Décor was nice. Place was clean. Beer was cold. Somewhere in between casual and classy. Collared shirt is about right for guys but t-shirts are okay too.

The food was cold. Sent it back. The waitress was not friendly what so ever. Did not speak to us after we sent two cold meals back. Would not go back or recommend.

I hate to post these type of reviews, but we went when it was quiet there for our anniversary and my husbands birthday. We don’t go out very often and spent about $ 70 as expected. It was a beautiful place for a glass of wine. We ordered filet minot and scallops. I felt like the food was so tasteless and plain. It was the least tasty filet mignon we have ever ordered and had almost like a brown gravy with it and the Brussels sprouts that came with both entrees were maybe steamed without anything special at all. I can roast Brussels sprouts in olive oil and garlic and get a better taste at home. My meal was underwhelming as well. The risotto seemed like it was from a can or something. Also the mussel portion was about half of what we normally get for the price. Again loved the atmosphere and the décor not the food. Maybe it wasn’t the normal chef.

Rude Service and incredibly skimpy portions.-(Saturday Night) 8-8-2015 Each of two fish tacos came with a shell filled only 20% and 3% of that was fish. The amount of fish in the shell was smaller than a tea teaspoon. When I showed the waitress what she served me, she wanted to know what she should do. When I looked at her and didn’t answer quickly she got mad and was indignant. I just wanted to know if this is the way the entrée comes? She took my plate and had them add a little more dice tomatos to the shell. Now the shell was 45% filled, still no fish. If my wife and I we’re not with friends we would have walked out. If a server doesn’t know what to do, then she should get the manager. The only thing worse than the tacos was the service. We will never go back. The Town of Weaverly was beautiful and the people we met were nice. You should avoid the Twisted Vine.

We’ve eaten here a few times, and each time the food was excellent. The flavor combinations are creative and delicious. The service is attentive and thoughtful, and the waitstaff is knowledgeable and happy to make suggestions. I like the fact that neither the menu nor the portions are overwhelming, but just right. My one complaint is that it can get quite loud. Perhaps they can put up some noise absorbing tiles. Regardless, if we lived locally, I’d be a regular customer.

This place gives me a headache. The inside just is not set up like a bar. The noise level gets extremely loud due to the acoustics that be. Drinks are.meh.Same old

Food was good and the prices were very reasonable. Although the wine list was awful and for a «wine bar» they completely missed the mark.

For the last 6 years, my cousin and I and our hubbs have enjoyed a Fall Crawl to Stops within about an hour of central Connecticut. This year I added two downtown Westerly locations to our list including The Twisted Vine which was an excellent choice. It was a beautiful Sunday weatherwise in October and while they offered a few tables outside on Canal Street, we opted for the inviting sitting area across from the beautiful, elegant bar indoors and In front of the fireplace adorned with twinkling white lights. The atmosphere was a real surprise: very warm and welcoming. It was mid afternoon and only a few other tables were occupied. We were immediately greeted by a friendly waitress who provided menus and listed some specials. The ladies enjoyed blood orange Margueritas while the guys opted for a Yuengling Beer and a Martini which I can’t recall the name. We ordered a waygu cheeseburger which we split as we really just wanted bar bites at this point and the daily special oysters, Ninigret and Noank varieties. The cheeseburger was excellent served with superb fries and the oysters were fresh and delicious. Service was attentive and friendly. We really enjoyed the vibe, the exposed brick and beautiful wood along with the twinkling white lights and understated artwork. We will definitely return to enjoy their entertainment, drinks and small plates but were delighted to spend some time here on a quiet Sunday afternoon.

We tried Twisted Vine by chance, not having heard anything about it but the interior looked inviting and comfortable and the specials on the board out front sounded good. The place is in an enormous space, with a big fireplace surrounded by some sofas and a few tables nearby. There’s a long bar and tables that are out on these wings that go out to the street. The menu is very interesting with choices ranging from small plates, to cheese and meat assortments, to sandwiches and entrees. We started with a cheese and meat plate which had some asiago, some local soupy and hummus and roasted red peppers. This came with really good baguette slices and some red grapes. The cheese selections are not very special but what we were served was good and the portion was generous. We also had an empanada ‘small plate’ which was filled with Tasso ham and corn. They were excellent, nice flaky crust and the ham was tender and full of flavor. All this was good, but we saved the best for last — The Steinbeck! This is a grilled cheese sandwich made with Edam(I think), brown sugar spiced bacon, avocado, and a sunnyside-up egg on top. Holy moly this was good! I really like this and will go back for more asap.

The short review: Our hearts were set on going elsewhere for(Chinese, however they were on vacation. But even though our taste buds wanted something else originally, this place was fantastic(holding out on that last star till we can return). The long: Service was just absolutely on point. Similar to some real high end Michelin star restaurants in So Cal I’ve been to. We started with Toasted Almond Brie(see photo). That oh soooo creamy Brie with the contrast of the crunchy almond slivers was just incredible. Some previous reviews stated«make sure to get the specials». So, upon seeing Carrot soup(see pic) I though«this should be boring but it’s a special». Boy was it special. I had no idea how much I now want more carrot soup. It had zip. As in spicy. YUM. My wife and I ordered steak. She had the Filet Mignon & I had the Strip Steak. Both were served on herbed mashed potatoes. Both seasoned and cooked medium rare just as we requested. And who knew there were baby asparagus? We didn’t but it was tender and delicious. We’ll definitely be back. Even on a Thurs night parking on the street can be a bit of a drag. But still worth it.

Incredible grilled cheese, we can highly recommend«the Steinbeck» it has brown sugar bacon and cheddar and avocado, with an egg on top! Pretty intererior. We will go back for another sampling. Located within walking distance to an art gallery which was nice to browse.

So, I went in with some friends just checking out the local bar scene. This review is strictly regarding drinks, as we didn’t order any food. I will adjust my review accordingly for another time when I do actually eat there. We went in on a Wednesday night. Very pretty place. Pretty bartender, right there to serve us, and frequently asked if we needed anything. I believe the name if the cocktail I ordered was«into the sunset». It was tequila, compari and something else, I wish I could remember. It was completely undrinkable! Upon the first sip, I think this drink was made with butane. My friend ordered a vodka martini, and wasn’t asked for any preference of vodka. I understand, it’s a wine bar, but for the sake of all gods creation, if you’re going to have a drunk menu, it should at least be good. The food smelled amazing wafting out of tho kitchen, and the menu is definitely something I want to go back for. As far as the drinks, stick to wine-at least you know what you’re going to get.

On a cloudy day during Labor Day weekend my wife and I ventured into Westerly looking for a late lunch, something with an interesting menu. Checked Unilocal and ended up at The Twisted Vine. Menu looked good, with lots of variety, a bit like a tapas menu, but the dishes were more entrée sized. Nicely decorated restaurant, much larger than I expected. It was a quiet afternoon, but our waitress told us it gets crowed at night. I ordered a glass of Jonathan Edwards Stone Table red from CT off of their«Interesting Reds» section and my wife had a glass of Secco Italian. Both very nice. To start, we split a salad of locally grown heirloom tomatoes, mozzarella and capicola. Tomatoes were perfect, and it was nicely salted and dressed with EVOO. A great start. Both our entrees were very good. I had the Alott grilled cheese and my wife had the Stuffed Mediterranean Chicken. Service was knowledgeable and efficient, prices were reasonable for the quality of the food. We will be returning to explore more of the menu.

We rolled up in here at 5 on a Saturday and it was totally empty. We sat at the bar and had a couple glasses of wine because all the local wineries closed early that day for weddings. They had a short list of local wines and a bunch of others. I would have expected more local wines for a wine bar so close to the wine trail. Anyway, we also got some bread and oil to pad our stomaches. The menu looked great and creative and if we didn’t already have dinner plans I think we would have been happy with a meal here too.

We just went into the twisted vine to have dinner accompanied by our 19 month old daughter. I was informed by the second person who greeted us, after the first hostess/waitress asked how many then walked away, that they don’t have high chairs. She asked if I had a carseat or something I wanted to put her in. Um no. I’m sorry but any place that doesn’t have a high chair that serves food shouldn’t be serving food. If you don’t have high chairs post it on the door and help the supposed customer spare the embarrassment. Some people actually do eat dinner with their children. I don’t care how good the food is, I don’t care if its a martini/wine bar/restaurant. Get some high chairs or post it on the door. I will never return to the twisted even without my child. No high chair, no business in my book.

My gf and I got lunch here with a friend on Sunday afternoon on my way from RI beach to NYC. It’s a cute downtown area with a few restaurants and my friend recommended this one. The restaurant was empty with the exception of one other group. The waiter was very attentive even though it took us a while to decide what to order because everything on the menu sounded delicious. In the end I settled on the Steinbeck Grilled Cheese Sandwich and we split the Calamari. The Calamari was delicious and the only reason I was hesitant on the 5 stars was that the sandwich was a little too greasy to eat the whole thing. However, my gf and my friend very much enjoyed their entrees. The food was a little on the expensive side, but I guess it’s trying to portray itself as a somewhat classy place. I would definitely recommend it if you want a casual/classy lunch option with an interesting menu.

Finally – I can confidently write a five-star review. This will be my first one. If you haven’t been to Twisted Vine, go there. The ambiance is elegant and spacious; think cozy fireplace and dark wood columns with tasteful art gracing the walls. This is just the beginning. The staff will greet you promptly and seem like they care that you exist. You will be handed the simple yet sophisticated wine list, but not feel that you are being pressured to be a sommelier. You will order the wine, it will be superb, you will have a delightful chat with your friends. The waiter will wait until the perfect time(or break in the conversation) to take your order. This waiter will be friendly, funny and knowledgeable. Now, the menu. Again, so simple. Starting off with Grilled Cheeses, they have expanded the menu to include sandwiches with literary names like«The Melville» and do not balk at including foie gras or exotic cheeses for snacking. The drink special list features literary names like«Crime and Punishment.» It would seem pretentious, if the food and drinks weren’t so incredible, as I have yet to eat something from Twisted Vine’s kitchen that did not impress me. Pay particular attention to the specials list, because the chef at this restaurant is skilled enough to keep you guessing and intrigued every time. I have written this before, and I will stress it again: it is possible to be a sophisticated, efficient and elegant restaurant without being SNOTTY. Twisted Vine proves this hypothesis. The owner is an unassuming, kind lady who cares about the happiness of her customers. How is this possible? I don’t know. Because the Twisted Vine is one of the greatest restaurants(or businesses) I have ever patronized in my life. You are assured to leave the establishment happy, full, enriched and refreshed. In sum, Westerly, Rhode Island has a number of elegant and intriguing, upscale restaurants. But what sets the Twisted Vine apart from them is the idea that you can just show up and have a GOODTIME instead of feeling pressured to be a snob, while having an enriching culinary and cultural experience that is satisfying and delighting. I vote Twisted Vine.
