We stopped at this place after seeing it’s reviews and staying at a resort not to far from it! So glad we did! The Sushi is fresh, service was perfect, good for kids, ambiance for lunch is casual and we didn’t have dinner. Parking was quick and prices were great. I will come back each time in in Palm Dessert La Quinta.

Me and my boyfriend ate here for the first time. It’s now our sushi place. Super clean, great service & yummy sushi.

Good service. The food was so mediocre. Could’ve had so much more flavor. The edamame was way overcooked didn’t even have any salt or flavor. Try some black hawaiian salt?! The little salad was actually the tastiest thing there, love the dressing. I ordered the Beef goyaki or something which she said was ribeye steak and mixed vegetables. It was about 1 ounces of steak and just cabbage. It tasted like vinegar. They should’ve added some actual mixed vegetables other than cabbage. My hubby ordered the chicken combo. The chicken had no flavor. The crispy yellow tail hand roll just tasted like bland chicken. Our first green tea was greenish hot water. The last refill was actually green tea.

My first time here and I must honestly say its one of the best sushi places I’ve ever been to. Masao at the sushi bar is truly an artist and very personable, talk about SERVICE!!!

We tried this little sushi joint while we were in the desert based on the Unilocal reviews. We arrived at about 9 pm on a Saturday and the place was empty. This was a little concerning but we had faith that our fellow Unilocalers would not let us down. We were NOT disappointed! The fish tasted fresh & was delicious. The sushi chefs were very friendly so we had a good time joking with them and, of course, the service was excellent because we were the only ones there. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful service and the udon noodles were great! We also had the gyoza, which were very good. The wine was a little over priced though.

I swear I grew up in this restaurant. My grandfather goes so often the wait staff knows his order as soon as he walks in the door. We’ve had so many great memories here, wonderful food, and amazing service. When you come here you are treated like family, the service is top notch. There is nothing not to love about this restaurant. It will always be one of my favorite restaurants in the desert, and without a doubt one of the best.

This place is amazing! I have been here three times in the last five days. Get the Musashi roll and the Dragon Roll and the Toro sushi! Sun is the best waitress ever! She knows my favorite sauces and she brings them to me before I even have to ask. She greeted me by name and she is literally the best. I’m gonna miss this sushi place when I go back home!

Extremely disappointed. Followed the Unilocal reviews and if this is the 2nd best Sushi restaurant in the desert, then Sushi spots in Nebraska are edible. Maybe it’s because I’m used to the fantastic sushi spots along the coast, or maybe I’m just a basic millennial hipster, but the food was decent at best for the price. Sushi chefs were very talented, however the food quality was just okay in my book. The staff was also extremely unwelcoming.

I don’t know how to describe this place properly. The second time was just as good as the first(several years ago). Although there were a few hiccups with one staff, service was at the level you would expect from a Japanese run establishment. The food is really good. I mean, really good. You can tell the staff take pride in their work. Certainly this is not an inexpensive place but I think it is a decent value because of the quality of the food. Usually I can judge a Japanese restaurant by the tempura and the quality of the fish. Both were excellent here. There was even bluefin tuna the night I dined. One other point worth mentioning: the rice and the green tea were of high quality. You might think it doesn’t matter what kind of rice they serve. In Japan, the quality of rice is an important feature and here they take care of little things like that. I wouldn’t call Musashi best of the best but it’s among the best I have had– and they do it pretty consistently. What I ate: agenasu, Musashi roll, tempura udon, teriyaki salmon, bluefin tuna nigiri, and miso glazed seabass. All dishes were very to excellent. Special nod to the sushi chef. Be warned, this place gets busy and they do not take reservations that I know of. Solid 5 stars. Some of the best Japanese food I have had in Southern California.

Ugh, GPS led us to the mall when it’s across the street — look for the FedEx/Kinko’s, on that same lot! Service was great, the ladies were attentive but the ventilation of the kitchen was bad, we came out smelling a bit greasy. Daughter had the lunch combo, CA roll and tempura — she didn’t eat her salad, sauce/dressing was too thick. She said it was okay, nothing out of the ordinary. MIL and I shared some dishes, ordered the Cold Soba Noodles w/the Tempura and there was a funky taste with the noodles that vacated my body in less than 2 hours later. Had a couple of orders of hamachi and ama ebi nigiri — I don’t like for my sushi rice to be warm, so that was an immediate turn off. The portions were tiny and the ama ebi heads were not fried properly, they weren’t crispy, too chewy. The Hamachi roll was okay, not really flavorful as hamachi should be. Oh, daughter ordered the green tea iced tea and it was with powder that didn’t dissolve properly and she couldn’t get it to have any flavor, even after adding 2 packets of sugar — she tried.

Very pleasant staff. Cozy, comfortable restaurant. Compared to Phoenix, very expensive and the sashimi was small and thin. There must be better near Palm Desert.

I was super disappointed in this place. The food was average at best and the prices were outrageous. Even the complimentary edamame was over cooked and not well seasoned. I would not recommend this place at all.

Really excellent sushi! We consider Mitch’s to be the best in the Valley, but I have to say, this sush was equally as good! Really friendly and accommodating chefs. I did not see tataki on the menu, but when I asked for it they whipped it right up for me! And the portion was huge! We also had the hamachi which was incredible. My husband had the seared spicy tuna roll, and absolutely loved it! Its not cheap, but in my opinion, if its good sushi you don’t mind paying a little more for it. Can’t wait to go back and try some other items!

Nice little sushi place, staff was very friendly, and the place looked very elegant. I recommend sitting at the sushi bar since it’s more comfortable. My server took my order right away and my food came in perfect timing. I had a chicken udon and a salmon skin hand roll, both very delicious and hot. And to the sushi chef’s you’re both awesome. Definitely will be coming back.

Great place! Nice ambiance, very friendly staff and our server was fantastic. We started with tuna carpaccio with garlic oil and ponzu and it was so delicious. The tuna was fresh and thinly sliced and I honestly could have eaten the entire plate by myself. The sunomono salad was cold and fresh with the perfect amount of vinegar, topped with shrimp and octopus. Hubby had the pork katsu, which was really good but a little dry. The sauces on the side took care of the dryness though, no problem. I had a mixture of standard sashimi and sushi rolls and everything was fresh, cold and really delicious. Really happy we decided to try Musashi instead of going with our original plan of Hibachi steakhouse.

If they have the ingredients they will make it for you. Correctly I might add(scallop hand roll). I give 5 stars for fresh, unique options, quaint intimate environment, custom order execution, wine and sake options and of course the food presentation and taste. How can tempura be better than average? The batter, flash fry & veggie options served. YUM! Oh-service excellent. Server non-intrusive but helpful.

I might have been there on a bad night but everything from the free edamame to the chicken, were mediocre at best. There were some good items. The oysters were good. Salmon sushi, good. Iced green tea, good. The service was great. It’s sad to state but the subpar stuff were: Edamame was really over boiled. Spicy tuna wasn’t spicy. Oyakko don had dry chicken but too much sauce and the rice was mushy. Chicken teriyaki was dry and sauce too thick and sweet. The rest of the food was average. Looking at the ratings, I know this place should be better so I’m thinking it was just a bad day. Hoping at least because the servers were really nice.
