Wahmoy Chinese Cuisine

Best egg rolls in the area. I feel like the rest of their menu is hit or miss. Worst egg foo young I’ve ever had. Their noodle dishes are pretty good though

I cannot get over how terrible the food was. It wasn’t expensive, and I felt terrible tossing it. But the orange Chicken was dark meat, and it smelled terrible. I hope the reason they are so cheap on their ingredients and staff is for a decent reason. The owners are so sweet so I do feel bad but nothing was edible.

The food taste good but it feels low quality. I eat the chicken fried rice, it needed a little work. Especially the smoothie. Disappointed.

The 3 stars are for super sweet service and a clean interior, has it not been the service and a decent ambiance even for a takeout place, rating would have been lower. The food was so terrible. Greasy, lack of flavor not fresh. But if you are not a foodie like me, then the food would taste average to you. Family portraits on the wall, a very nice and considerate lady to took my order, hard to come by at chinese takeout places.

I love this place and always have ever since Don Moy’s in Rolling Meadows went away. I mean, it surely is close to your average Chinese food restaurant in terms of cheap ambiance, but the food has always, to me, been superior to any other Chinese food of the same type of carryout restaurant. And, for some reason, I seem addicted to their egg rolls.

Let’s start with the good… nothing. Okay, moving on.
Wow, this place is horrible. It was so bad, I almost told the Chinese lady behind the counter just how terrible it was as a favor to her since I started to worry about how they would pay their bills once the place imminently closed down.
It’s clear they are cutting corners hard. The housing market crash really hit the Chinese food industry hard apparently. You gonna pay your mortgage or eat beef broccoli? Obviously a no brainier.
Anyway, the beef was so disgusting I only ate half of it (while holding my nose and jamming a ballpoint pen tip into my thigh). Not only did it taste bad, the texture was worse than chewing on a balloon that hasn’t been blown up yet — you’ve all done it… don’t judge me.
Could it get worse? Somehow yes. The fried rice. Oh, the fried rice! Typically, fried rice has some veggies or a green onion and maybe even some pork… no…none of those things made it into this batch. It was literally rice, soy sauce, and sad little pieces of what I assumed was an egg from the summer of 82′.
Normally I love having leftover Chinese food. Not this time. This was the first and only time I have ever thrown away Chinese food, abandoning the possibility of leftovers. It didn’t feel good, and even now I’m thinking about those poor broccoli spears soaked in some really funky tasting brown sauce.
In conclusion: I hope you read this review, and never eat at Wah Moy. It’s the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten hands down.

I wanted to like Wahmoy, really I did. The older gentleman working there seemed so cute and nice… and how can you not instantly love a place with pictures of the grandkids plastered everywhere? For me, the food just didn’t do it.
Wahmoy is an old school Chinese American place and when I say that I mean they’ve been doing their thing for about 30 years. Their longevity should indicate them being great, I thought. It reminded me of my favorite place in Glenview that has been open since the 70s. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things but both dishes I’ve got from there were just meh.
The first time I tried the Small lemon chicken for $ 6.85. The breading was super mushy and just peeled off of the chicken. The flavor seemed a little odd to me… it was decent, I ate it, but it kind of tasted like lemon rind but not in the good way. The small chicken was also quite small of an order with just about 8 pieces as well.
The next time I tried the Sesame chicken lunch special came with an eggroll for $ 7.20. Their lunch special prices are slightly higher than other places in the area and the portion is about half the size. I counted 7 nugget pieces of chicken in my lunch special. It has red pepper flakes making it really spicy for me — it honestly didn’t taste much like sesame chicken at all. It wasn’t inedible but I didn’t find it tasty either.
There are better options in the area at better prices, so unfortunately I won’t be back.

Tonight’s dinner was missing a side dish. I didn’t want to think too hard about making it. I decided to order it here!
Why haven’t I tried this place sooner? The Shrimp Fried Rice is wonderfully delicious! It comes in 2 Chinese take out containers, small and large. For shrimp, it’s $ 4.95 and $ 8.60 respectively.
If I hadn’t already put my Salmon Teriyaki dinner in the oven, I would’ve ordered more than my brilliant idea for its side dish.
The best Chinese restaurants are set up like this one. Carry out and delivery with a quaint dining area for eating in.

This is my favorite Chinese food place. The staff they’re is very kind and says hi every time I go in. They’re food is spectacular it. Takes no longer than 20 minutes each time and is sooo convenient. They’re sweet and sour chicken, broccoli chicken, hawaiin fried rice, and Szechwan chicken are the best!!! I. Love this place!

Chinese take away — straight up. You take it AWAY… you could technically eat there I suppose, but it would feel a bit like singing the national anthem naked at the super bowl… awkward.
Nice people — food what you would expect for Chinese take-away…with one exception… the home made pot stickers. They are the size of baseballs and are absolutely amazing! Highly recommend this place but only as a take away spot — not to eat there on site.

Wah Moy is a tiny restaurant that mostly does carry out business. There are maybe five tables inside, and it is awkward to do so.
If I were reviewing just my entrees-​spicy tofu and vegetable fried rice, I would give it five starts. The tofu was tasty and had a deeper spice profile than spicy tofu dishes at other restaurants. The vegetable fried rice was full of delicious fresh vegetables.
My boyfriend had mongolian beef and peapod chicken, and they were both subpar. There was very little meat in either dish, and the meat that was used was of very poor quality… very tough, tasteless, and just odd tasting.

It’s a typical Chinese carry out place, place is clean, owner is friendly, the food just standard.
I ordered some lunch from there, well pretty big lunch box, big portion come with egg roll or crab rangon, not bad to grab a fast lunch.

This is basically a carry-​out place, even though they do have a tiny dine-​in area, We ate in.
Ordered green beans, man, way too much sauce on it, the green bean itself was tasteless.
We were the only customer dining in at the moment but it took them forever to get our food ready. We were hungry and angry. We waited for at least 40 minutes.
Total waste of time, the food is disappoint. Will not go back again.

Had a two for one coupon in the Entertainment Book so thought we’d give it a shot. The food is all very tasty and fresh. The egg rolls are among the best I’ve had in a while– they’re homemade, not pre-​packaged and have a peanut sauce inside which really gives them a good flavor.
This is mainly a carryout place that has several tables, though the décor is very plain and simple. VERY. We ate in because the coupon said we had to, and everything was very good. This is one of those places that has about 861,000 things on the menu, so, overwhelmed, I asked the young man working the counter for a recommendation. Without hesitation, he said he likes the beef lo mein. Guess what? My princess and I like it too now, because it was a great recommendation. Very well seasoned, very tasty, and everything was perfectly stir fried, not at all sticking together. I ordered General Tsao’s chicken, which was the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. We had enough to take home and enjoy later when we got hungry again.
