I have heard so many good things about this place, a friend even recommended us to try… what a COMPLETE disappointment and honestly, i’m pissed. Fish and chips without the chips: Not flaky at all. They seem to use Catfish because the fish was so dense and dry. Fried fish is best made with Cod. Shrimp and chips: They forgot to give us the chips!!! Clams and zucchini chips: Little tiny strips of clams that were just batter. The zucchini chips were so mushy and the batter was mushy too. Hushpuppies: sigh… The person who took the order was very kind and helpful, but the food… Everything was OVER fried, the hushpuppies were served almost burnt… the clams are nowhere to be seen… i mean… how do you serve food like this? I’ve spent about $ 50.00 and one of my ULTIMATEPETPEEVE is spending money on HORRIBLE food… i’m soooooooo upset. We ended up eating what we can and tossed everything out… never…again…

It’s really quite good. Everything done to the cuts of the fries and the newspaper wrapping is as authentic as you can get to UK fish and chips. The only small problem is the breading can be a bit heavy sometimes. I wish it were lighter, but everything else is fantastic. I’ve lived on the west coast for 13 years now and finding a solid fish and chips restaurant was surprisingly hard, but we have a winner.

I’ll keep this as short and simple as possible. 1. Cute little spot, literally a hole in the wall 2. Service was great. Went there today and was more impressed with the cashier/host/table cleaner. She’s a keeper! 3. A handful of tables. 7. 4. There is a small bar area(seats 3 or 4). Issue: It’s blocking the way to the bathroom. You literally have to ask the people who are sitting to move or give way. You have to squeeze yourself sideways to get through. I am sure this is a fire hazard issue and if the fire marshal has not yet cited this place, I would not be surprised if it’s been ignored being that this establishment has been around since the 60’s. Small town = looking the other way. 5. It’s not a place where you can sit back and enjoy your meal and drinks. People are watching you like a hawk. Pretty much like, «hello, when are you leaving, are you done? we want to sit and eat» look. You’ll get the same from the host/cashier, although she’s sweet and seem to always ask how you are doing. I think it’s more like, «I’m checking in on you cause there are people waiting to take your seats» look. Next time we’ll order out. First time dine-in and last. The sweet girl being a super woman in the front doing everything. She’s awesome!

Exceptional fish and chips place in Pacifica. Nice little pub feel. I wish they made their own sauces(tarter &cocktail) but still top notch for fish and chips. Prices are good. My son enjoyed the chicken strips. Not a huge menu, which is a plus. Good fast friendly service.

Disclaimer: I’m not seafood person. But, when near the water, I like to indulge the hubby and take him somewhere for calamari or clam chowder. We happened to be in Pacifica and hungry for lunch, so I turned to Unilocal and saw enough positive reviews that I felt confident to give this place a try. Unfortunately, this was a disappointing experience. I asked the girl at the counter about the size difference between a full and half order. She said full order had two pieces of meat(fish or chicken), half order had one piece. I went ahead and ordered full size chicken & chips, hubby ordered calamari & chips, and we each got a Coke(in cans, no fountain drinks). Total — $ 28! Yikes. Food came out quickly enough. To my surprise, I had 4 decent size pieces of chicken instead of 2. Kind of annoyed to have paid for a full size order when half would have been ok… but then completely turned off when I tasted it. Clearly, there is only one frying vat in the kitchen and it tastes like one thing: FISH. Fishy chicken, Fishy fries. Ranch dressing also had an odd(although not fishy) taste. Hubby ate his calamari but left the fries, he couldn’t stand the taste either. I asked for a box and took my $ 11 meal home for the dogs. One star for poor tasting, overpriced food. Two stars for service, the counter girl(doubling as server) was nice, despite the misinformation about portion size.

Passed by this little gem on the way down back to college and couldn’t be more impressed by the service(and the food!) especially Jim– or was it John? Either way, would recommend! Hope he’s there when I go back!

Fish & chips & beer! After a nice day of beach-ing and not finding the November issue of Better Homes & Gardens, we sat down for some good fried comfort food. The child loved staring and identifying the stuff on the walls and ceiling, and I loved that I could grab my sweet lumberjack a non-fried Mars bar to enjoy at home. The kid dug into his chicken and I attacked my fish before remembering to ask if they had any lemons. I thought they’d be like fish-and-chip shop fries, but they were strangely more potatoey(starchy?) than I’d expected. It didn’t keep me from eating them, though. I’d totally eat them again. I LOVE that you can order half portions. It makes trying more things easier.

Hello, welcome to Camelot Fish & Chips would you like some beer and depressing music on top of your fish & chips?! Camelot Fish & Chips is the epiphany of drowning your feelings in deep fried food with some beer and emotional ballads. Despite the tiny space and dim lights this is the place to be if you’re feeling like having some beer talk with the boys or girls. Location: Camelot Fish & Chips is around a shopping plaza across the street from a Safeway grocery store. Once you see the meat store and the beautiful ocean from the distance, you definitely know you’re in the right place. Parking can be tricky and sketchy so please make sure you take extra precautions by locking your car well and not exposing valuables. Vibes: There was so much British trivia around this tiny cute restaurant. I was fascinated by the big red telephone door that led to the bathroom and the intimate space. Asides from the place being dim, this is actually a pretty decent place to hang out and grab some beer. Food: My boyfriend, his friend and I ordered some fish and chips. I won’t lie… The portions are HUGE and having an appetite beforehand is a must have! The food is reasonably priced. It’s somewhere around the $ 6-$ 20 range. Also, there are happy hour specials on beer and some British candy at the side of the counter. Asides from that, the fish and chips I ordered were delicious!!! I really love how crispy the fish was with some frying oil slowly oozing out while dipping it in tar-tar sauce. The fries were a-ok but the fish was fantastic. Customer Service: I noticed Camelot Fish & Chips are low staffed. The lady taking our order was a BOSSLADY at everything she did. I would call her the«Superwoman of food service.» She was very friendly and dealt with dealing hangry customers by bussing, serving and being a cashier all at once. Although there were other ladies in the back taking care of the frying, I just have to applaud the front lady representing the restaurant for being AWESOME. You my friend just got a heavy tip from ya lady! Overall: This is a GREAT place to be whether you’re dining in or out. I’ll definitely consider coming back here again if I happen to be at Pacifica watching a wrestling match beforehand!

It was my first time eating here. Boy was it good! I had the combination with scallops and hush puppies. The fish was piping hot and the scallops were very flavorful. The hush puppies were a home run. Since I am from the east coast, having them made me think of home back east.

Great beer, Fresh BIG pieces of fresh fish, good batter and never over fried. Since the fish fillet is so big, it’s always juicy when you bite into it. Other stuff is hit or miss(shrimp, oysters, clams, etc) so consistency oh those are just eh. But the fish is always good, fries always hot. Service is typically good, but there’s only one girl in the front so can get slow. It’s mostly the annoying 1st time patrons that make it feel like service is slow though. The waitress is always super nice, even when she’s dealing with the entire place by herself. The others are hand dipping your fish in batter and breading in the back after you order guys… chill out. I’m asian so I’m used to all cash places, not going to complain about that. Just prepare before hand or buy some gum at safeway across the street.

First thing’s first: I would never have been able to find this place if it weren’t for Unilocal and my friend’s recommendation Situated in a small shopping complex near the beach, this place is definitely unassuming. They have a nice beer on tap selection and the most interesting thing? They have church pews as seats. Fish and Chips: Potato-ey fries and nicely battered fish. Definitely not too oily, and the tartar sauce is on point. This was recommended as the best fish and chips from my friends, and I can’t say I disagree. Solid spot that will allow you to go to the beach right after!

Camelot F&C is a small dark English working man’s eatery with a bit of grungy sprinkled about. The place was packed when we went but it was worth angling for a table because the fish was huge and delicious and the chips were great as well. The prices were very comfortable.

I ordered the Camelot which included fried fish, shrimp, oysters, scallops, and chips for take away. Reminded me of the same dish I had in the UK about 25 years ago. That said, I was just in London 6 months ago and most of the food was outstanding. I really can’t say the same for this place. The fish and chips was acceptable but not really worth another visit. The beers looked great! So if you one to catch a cold one for the road and don’t like to drink on an empty stomach, this is the place for you. Note, you can get your food to go and enjoy it at the beach — which is less than a block away. Then again, you could also pickup some wine, cheese, and bread at the Safeway across the street and do the same. I would actually recommend the later. IMHO.

So extremely disappointed! How this place got 4 stars is beyond me. I ordered fish and chips w/scallops and oysters. The fries and scallops were obviously frozen, and I was surprised that the fries were tasteless and gross. How can you mess up fries? The batter on the fish wasn’t light enough, and the entire meal ended up feeling so sad. There’s better fish and chips out there in SF.

We came here for the second time on Saturday. We came again because we were in the area and it is very hard to find a place that serves clam strips. The clam strips were good, the fries were good. The fish is good. Here is why they only get two stars. The only accept cash. Normally I wouldn’t have a problem with that. It becomes suspicious when there is an ATM machine built in to the building RIGHTNEXTDOOR to this restaurant! SERIOUSLYITSFEETAWAY!!! So it seems to me they care more about their bottom line then customer service. Will not be back again. It’s shady that the atm is there because one would suspect that they are getting a kickback from the atm owner or perhaps they even own it. COMMONSENSE!!!

Ah, fish and chips. Probably one of the most underrated favorite foods in my «favorite foods» category, simply because it’s pretty difficult to find a good fish and chips place nearby. To date, Camelot is my favorite in the bay area, because it’s not overly greasy, it doesn’t fall apart, it’s tasty, there’s hush puppies, and you have the option of doing cool things like getting a fried Twinkie. Basically: food-wise, there is nothing wrong with this place. Unless you want to dine in like everyone else does, then that might be something wrong, as it’s a small pub-like scene of fishy chippy goodness — and by that I mean there’s only about six tables total. But never fear. The ocean’s just outside, so why not grab your newspaper-wrapped fish and chips and watch the sunset? The hot fish and chips will be quite the sensation against the often super-cold Pacifica air. Of course, it is important to note that they close at 8pm and it takes a while for them to make that fish. Usually, if it’s around 7:30pm, I don’t bother making the trek, because I know I won’t make it. Meh. If you manage to get a table, load up on that malt vinegar. It’s amazing. I don’t even like tartar sauce that much, but hey, it tastes fantastic with the fish and helps cool it down a bit so you don’t burn your mouth. Plus, all those sides! All those fried seafoods! KRABCAKES! If Pacifica weren’t so far from SF, it would be on my tourist list. If my British friends weren’t vegetarians, I would’ve brought them here for their opinion. Otherwise, it may be a spot for people who are interested in going to Pacifica for whatever reason. If my guests say they want fish and chips, I’ll ask them if they’re down for about a half hour drive(and also check the weather to make sure there’s no fog blocking said beautiful sunset).

Updated review 4 years later… Great dinner tonight and shrimp and chips was great! And I have to say that the waitress/cashier is amazing! I was watching her help every single customer with a smile! It was awesome! Happy place and they have added cool«London» décor! I like it! There is a cool, warm, comfy vibe happening inside here! Kudos to Camelot!

I accidentally stumbled upon Camelot Fish & Chips in Pacifica. I was not really that hungry but when I saw the words«Camelot» and«Fish» I had to tryit. After trying 3 large pieces of their fish, I thought this was exactly proper fish and chips. just like they would say in the UK. The fried clams were also great. I ordered that as well. Nice atmosphere. I would recommend it to anyone looking for good Fish & Chips.
