Why it’s not too bad the last time. We had the meatloaf then and I’m trying to meatloaf again Under New Management and new Chef. Let’s see how it works out. still smells the same and still look the same though.

Nothing great here. Service was slow at 3pm there were only 5 other tables with people so service shouldn’t take so long. I asked for a spoon for my chili the waitress said they were out of spoons and gave me a plastic one. So I’m assuming the only own 5 spoons for the other tables. Good thing I didn’t order soup. My tri tip was dry will not be back.

I enjoyed their music. Joe is excellent. Just holler n he will serve u right away. Over 30s crowds. Great bands.

Waitress was great, bartender was super slow. Also the pizza was worse then a microwave pizza. But I’m giving it three stars because the waitress was super friendly and was very much aware of how awful the bartender was.

I want to give 5 stars to Pirates mainly because I appreciate how great the owner is, helpful with the employees and very involved. Genuinely showing care for customers, staff, and the business. This is a nice thing to see, gives a much more welcoming vibe. I have not tried the menu yet. I’ve had some yummy happy hour snacks (the happy hour here is great!) every night of the week is different. So check it out ;)

Went for breakfast. Only 1 table of 5 and 1 guy at bar, the service was horrible. Retrieved the menu, had to get our own silverware, and the food we ordered was not correct. I ordered a BLT without tomato, had tomato, husband ordered omelet avocado missing. The place has such potential but just falls down every time we go in. Must just be a drinks and sports TV place I guess.

It was our first time here, I was recommended by a friend, pretty bad… I’m just saying…
First off, Waitress was totally tweaked out, Chef kept messing up order, I was served a Dry Salad– no dressing, then when I asked about the dressing, they looked at me like I was crazy. Second, Kid’s hamburger came out dry– again just bun on meat– no mayo, no butter, no ketchup, just plain. The food here has no flavor, no seasoning, nothing special. My salad was Southwest chicken, but it had basic lettuce, a little bit of corn and beans (not worth the $ 13.99) and dry ass chicken. Supposed to have tortilla strips, but they put won-​tons on it and tried to make it pass. Supposed to be blackened chicken– yeah right! Just seasoned with salt, overcooked, and BAD! I make better salads at home, or CPK, even Del Taco has better salads for the price.
Waitress was high on meth or something, she never refilled any of our EMPTY drink glasses, just bad service, bad food, bad experience.
Only thing decent at the place was the décor.

Great place to watch any sporting events because of all the tv’s located on every wall and their variety of bar food. However their customer service is below average. Each time I’ve came the service has been slow and unwelcoming.
Middle aged-​older crowd Saturday nights but their live band is amazing.
Tip: Order your drinks from the bar if you have a large party. Servers have difficult time splitting checks.

Never going back! Went for lunch, waited an hour for food. Had one waitress running around like a chicken with her head cut off. Manager or whatever he was had no care in the world! Didn’t apologize. One couple walked out! Terrible service. Food was not worth the wait!

Probably the worst food I have paid for in a long time! I had the fish and chips and the fish was dry and not flavorful, the cole slaw was edible, fries-​thank God were okay and hard to mess up. My dad ordered a New York steak med rare and it was very tough. Lol then when the waitress asked if everything was okay we were polite and said that it was fine but admitted that the batter was pretty tough. She got offended and said she eats it all the time and loves it. She then asked if we wanted a box. They offered to replace the food with other items but honestly we didn’t feel they could make it up with something better. I feel bad for saying all of this but not so much when we saw it was a $ 77 bill. Please don’t waste your money here!

If there was a minus I would definitely give them one. First time at this place and it was horrible. The food was disgusting, tasted like they just threw my food in the microwave. Tasted like I was eating rubber food. And Not to mention the service!!! worst service I have ever had. Place was empty and waitress had us sit in the back, when asked y all the way back there she stated the staff was changing. The area belonged to the next waitress. Before we were done she made us pay our bill even though we told her we were still ordering more drinks.
Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Amazing the owner Dave is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet! Hands on! Melissa was the best waitress we have ever had. If you go there ask for her she will absolutely take the best care of you! Please tip her well. We went for New Years Eve last night. Their food was phenomenal. They sure know how to cook salmon. Complimentary Champaign and huge ice cold bud light. The band was really good playing old school music! Over all we had a fantastic time thank you Dave you and your establishment rock.

The staff here are second to none. Very attentive and welcoming. The crowd is very diverse and eclectic, which makes the people watching fun. The décor is great. My 8 year old wants his room to be a similar theme. I overheard the manager talking about revising tge menu in the coming weeks. The food was good. It’s typical sports bar food. I think it’ll be cool to see what the revised menu will be. The best part about this place is that it’s locally owned, so well worth supporting. This is the best place to watch UFC

It was my night to pick a dinner place with my littles ones on our weekly dinner night. It was early so there wasn’t any waiting and our waitress Breezie was very nice and attentive through out our visit.
The only thing I would have liked to see is drinks included in the kids meals. My little ones enjoyed the grilled cheese and fries meal. It was clean and didn’t smell like a Pirate bar… lol

This place worst rip off than I thought. We hosting Rams after party and they wanted to charge $ 18.50 to get in. WTH! They were taking advantage of the Rams being in town to practice against the Cowboys. Boycott Pirates!

I don’t mind if you’re not going to use a spoon in the preparation of a black and tan, but for the love of God, don’t use your fingers

Not sure what happened… I use to LOVE this place… It would be the go to place any day of the week… Always satisfied…
But…
This place is going down fast… They seem to be trying hard to make this a fun place however the last time I went the Live Music was some local rappers and DJs. Not that they were bad, just not what I expected from the Live Music sign outside.
Food is below average… Looks like frozen items from Costco.
Drinks, well they are a bit over priced for what they offer. They do offer a large bar area with TVs for the games.
I really wish this place was better since I live so close but there is no way I’ll order anything from this menu anytime soon.

Go for the music and beer. Go to Jack in the Box across the street for better and cheaper food.
I want to have nothing but good things to say about Pirates, after all my father plays in the band that is there every weekend and gives the guy half his business. I’ve been there numerous times to watch my dad play. Let’s get one thing straight: The food is bad. Not horrible, mind you. Maybe if you go in expecting dive bar food you won’t be too disappointed. but at $ 12 a plate and $ 9.50 a beer I was REALLY hoping for something a little more quality. Not an obvious afterthought.
Twice now that I’ve been there they’ve had major problems. Once in the middle of a show all the power went out. Show cancelled. Just last night the toilets broke in the bathroom after the band had only played an hour and a half. Show cancelled with my full mug of beer I was kicked out. This was after I ate some pretty decent wings and then some pretty questionable shrimp tacos. The rice and beans side are obviously microwaved and dry. The hamburger meat is obviously frozen and bland. And it took an average of 13 minutes between ordering my alcohol and getting it.
Now, that last bit about taking forever to get served I will forgive. Because they were beyond packed and our waitress was doing the best she could.
I like the building. I like the owner. I like that they support live music. I want them to succeed but this Pirate’s ship is headed into some stormy seas and if the food quality doesn’t dramatically improve they just might sink.

The new ownership and cook has really turned this place around grate food and service

I have given this place too many chances and I am done. It’s horrible. The food was so bad, I couldn’t eat it. I had a waffle that was obviously froze and microwaved. Bacon was limp and tasteless. How do you mess up bacon?
The server was good and friendly but considering there was NO ONE there at 10:00 AM on a Sunday, I wasn’t that impressed.
The tacky pirate theme is just… tacky. I would overlook all of this if the food was good. Alas, it is not.
Note to new management: fresh is always better than canned or frozen.

I was visiting family in Oxnard and ended up finding this gem! My mom had heard of it and said it had changed owners so we thought we would give it a try. There were 8 of us and forgot to make a reservation but they put a table together for us and were very accommodating. The server greeted us right away and was charming. My dad ordered the prime rib special and he said it was very tender and huge! I ordered the meatloaf and I have to say that I was not expecting the best meatloaf I have ever had in my LIFE! (I added a picture). My mom had a southwestern salad that had fresh grilled chicken, looked good. All in all, everybody at the table said the food was very satisfying.
We ended up eating and chatting for about an hour and a half and then a live band started. We listened to a few good tunes then the place started getting really packed. It looks like it turns into a happen’n night club past 10 o’clock! Next time I’m in town I’ll check out their night scene!

We absolutely love the freshly cooked basket of potato chips. They are only $ 1.95 with a free refill. Mmm good.
Pass on the margaritas ($ 4.00 on Mondays) although hubby liked them (too sour for me). Even with OJ… No Bueno. Pass on the potato skins.
I really like how everyone seems to know each other. We plan to become regulars.

Well driving by and we see the place has new owner, chef and menu. Well what the heck let’s give it a try seeing the previous was horrible.
Well on to this time ordered albondidas soup and clam chowder is delivered. Got the right soup and Exxon Valdez comes to mind
Wife orders baked potato and we’re told there are none. Anyone know where you get mashed from?
Food arrives and i ordered the meatloaf special. Not very special only luke warm more filler than meat with canned gravy.
Service nothing special i think she came by 15 minutes ago to check on a table behind us.
And finally what the heck is that loud pounding near the stage? Beanbag shuffleboard. Thump thump thump!!!
Note to self: stick with original plan to go to Fisherman’s Catch for some really good food. This place gets a big YUCK!!!
There is one positive: the place doesn’t smell like it did. Guess i need to cime back in 6 months (NOT).

Previously would have rated this establishment with one star, however it has recently changed managment having been under new ownership since around 3^rd Qtr CY 2014. Met and spoke with the new owner, who is currently trying to find what works for the business, so understand there will be growing pains for the next year at least.
From my most recent experience:
(1) Food is not great and I would rank as weaker than when under the previous ownership. «Homemade» Clam Chowder did not seem to be… tasted bland, was too thick, and was mostly broth. Appeared to be store bought with some added veggies/​meat or made from a condensed stock but most assuredly not «Homemade» does not mean «Made from Scratch». Happy hour menu was nothing special, wings were uninspired. One Their signature dish involving of fish, shimp, scallops and chips was overly breaded, offered smaller portions, and slightly overcooked and not as tasty. Tartar sauce was homemade as well, tasted odd to me perhaps because they chose not to include sweet reslish in the recipe.
(2) Service: Service was adequate in the bar area. Friendly, courteous, and generally made themselves available throughout the dining experience.
(3) Pricing: Overpriced.
I used to love Pirates when I first visited the restaurant years ago. It took a horrific downturn when previous managment was running the operation. Only time will tell if under new managment they will be able to reach their historic high levels of food quality and service. But for now, Meh…

Good place to watch as game.
Friendly service and casual atmosphere.
Standard Pub fare. It says fresh ground beef on the menu but that’s not true. They mean fresh, not spoiled; not ground here freshly, as is implied. That being said, the burgers are pretty darn good.
Beers are cold and the food is served hot. Everything else is gravy, right?

Great spot to conversate and grab a beer with a date. Never ordered food here and don’t plan to based on my date’s previous experience.
They had salsa lessons which is pretty cool if you want to learn the basics down and they had a solid crowd on a Thursday night.
Service is good and ambiance is A-​OK. Just the beers call my name here!
