This place went majorly downhill quickly in the second half of 2013, and then in February 2014, the sheriff closed it. And from what I heard from my mother-in-law who works next door at Home Depot, led out all the employees in handcuffs. What happened here!!!

Hard to fall lower than one star — but they just did. Went by the other day and saw a green sticker on the front door … Evicted by Cook County. Don’t bother going because they are officially closed.

While visiting this restaurant on several occasions hoping things would improve I’ve come to the conclusion that, despite all the negative reviews, they have no desire to listen to the complaints/concerns of their guests. On our second visit we were seated within the«party room», despite the fact there were tables available elsewhere in the restaurant. We were 1 of 2 «outside» tables the remaining tables were guests at the party! When both of us «outsiders» asked to be moved we were told that wasn’t possible as we had already been assigned to our servers. «Servers?» All they do is bring your drinks and maybe clear up used dishes. The servers are not the least bit friendly probably because they are too busy communicating amongst themselves in their native language. Although the food is plentiful it is definitely lukewarm, overcooked and has been sitting under the lights far too long. Despite signs indicating supervision over children is required no one enforces the policy. Needless to say, there are far better restaurants serving similar cuisine in the area.

RULE1: ONLYEATFROMTHEHIBACHIGRILLORSUSHISTATION RULE2: REFERBACKTORULE1 Besides the above, everything else looks, smells, tastes sub-par. With the Hibachi you can get MOUNDSANDMOUNDS of raw steak and chicken breast(clean protein), add in some onions and broccoli, rice, and a little soy/teriyaki = AWESOMENESS (Side Note): I did not think of it until after but you could raid the entire salad bar for other fresh veggies and add that to your plate for the Hibachi Chef to grill up. SUSHI: Nice selection. Not pre-packaged garbage but not award winning sushi. You can see someone making rolls from scratch in front of you. Clean. Fresh. No fishy smell. Good temperature for freshness. NONEEDTOEATANYTHINGELSE. Maybe some fruit or a salad. NOTHINGELSE. The lunch buffet(up until 3:30 except on Sunday) is $ 7 plus $ 2 or so if you want a pop. Water is FREE. I wouldn’t pay $ 10 for this(Dinner Buffet) but the lunch buffet is WELLWORTHIT. I had 2 separate Hibachi plates and a plate of sushi. you can go up for fourths if you are that hungry. If you stick to RULE1 and 2 you CANNOT go wrong for SEVENDOLLARS. I’d take this over a fast food value meal any day.

«Someday, this place is gonna kill someone.» — my wife The lady speaks the truth! While I loathe clichés, the old adage«You get what you pay for» springs to mind. Forget about the coupons, too… you have to buy a beverage to get them, so it’s essentially a free glass of bubbly sugarwater(or chemicals, for you Diet Pop fans) that will only speed your flight to the grave. You’re already taking your life into your hands, eating here. You’d think this place would have the money to fix their sign(which lights up proudly as «MEBUFFET» — as this place is affectionately called by me and the wife — «affectionately» like you’d refer to that troublemaker cousin who’s in and out of jail), given the continuous flow of grubby troglodytes that flow through this place. They have no clue that they’re toying with mortality here. Ah, enough creative writing… let’s get to the food. DANGERSIGNS: – Everything is salty. MEGA-salty. – Many items are not warm enough, especially the vegetables. We figured this one out… it’s because the meat is devoured quickly, while the veggies are largely ignored by the unhealthy denizens of this place, and left to gel/gestate all day. – Brown avocado on the sushi. – Weird bubbles in the chili oil, like it’s trying to morph into something else. – For a laugh, check out the gravy next to the mashed potatoes. It’s like the La Brea Tar Pits without the mastodons. WELCOMESIGNS: – They have real ice cream, which I assume is made somewhere else(a good thing). – The Hibachi ensures your food will be hot and fresh. They stock it with decent veggies(though the meat looks a little iffy) but the noodles are good. And, to the doofus that dropped their rating just because the Hibachi guy was Mexican and not a «China man,» don’t be a racist hater. If some honky makes Tacos for dinner, they won’t necessarily be bad, right? Though I suspect they will be laden with shredded cheese and lettuce, a la Taco Bell, with a hard shell and everything. Some people still think an «enchirito» is a real food item. Every time we eat here, we promise ourselves that we’ll never be back. But we keep going back. Why? It’s cheap, it’s fast, and(if you’re careful) you can have a decent meal by sticking to the Hibachi(and the Thai chicken), checking that your food choices are warm, and giving a good SNIFFEROO to anything you pick, before eating it. Want a good Chinese meal? Try Chen’s, or Dragon Palace — conveniently close by in friendly Tinley Park. Tell Henry hello for us.

This place is completely disgusting. The only good thing they have is the soda. We only went because we had a $ 4 off coupon, which said good for up to 4 people, you much purchase a drink. So we did. At the end of our«meal» if you could even call it that, the waitress only took 4 bucks off the total, we corrected her and and she told us that no its minimum of 2 people and that the coupon is only good for $ 4 off the whole check. We asked for a manager and some guy came out saying he was the owner and that we were wrong and the coupon only good for fah darra off minimom too peeple. He continued to say if was fah darra off each i wood make coupon say haff plice. how 4 dollars off 13.99 makes half price, i will never know. I do know that i was p/o-ed enough to get on Unilocal and write this review. AND I wouldnt go back here if it were free. There was nothing, that even came remotely close to being tasty on any of the buffet tables, The only things I was actually able to chew and not spit out were the mushrooms and the green beans. My dining accomplice was completely appalled by the food as well. Everything else was rubbery, flavorless, greasy or just plain nasty. Im not a fussy person and can usually make a meal out of anything but eww, i wouldnt feed the raccoons food from here. Its that bad. You are better off going across the street to Taco Bell or White Castle, seriously. Yuck Yuck YUCK!

This is based upon a number of different dining experiences… approx 10 – 14 times. Wife and I were actually at this place the day it opened. As far as the standard chinese buffet stuff-o-rama, this is solidly average. My two star review is purely for the sake of rating an below average place to eat food. Bottom line, the sushi and crab are almost worth the price. The rest is stuff o rama crap. This one has crab legs on the buffet on Friday and Sat night, and all day Sunday which makes the price higher: $ 13.99. This place always has a coupon and today it was $ 4.00, which covered our drinks. Now the thing is that as far as I am concerned, a buffet includes everything. But this one does not include the two bucks for drink, which I think is silly of them. First the sushi: yes, this is not a sushi place and you should expect less than. But then again, for the selections you can get, it is actually pretty good. I am a huge fan of taka, which is cooked octopus slices. Even at swank places, this is usually very rubbery. Because this has little taste, but is eaten for texture, and example of this dish skillfully and freshly prepared, this is firm, with a good texture to hold the flavor of wasabi infused soy: It is a major score that this technical bit of sushi is so good here. There was california roll with four different types of fish eggs, which is more than I have seen at any other place, even the fancy ones. There were several different maki and nigiri. There were fried dragon roll style and some gunkan spicy tuna rolls. There were fresh, raw, shucked oysters that I would not eat anywhere raw if you paid me. There were«purses» of seafood salad. MMM that was crunchy and cold and a little savory. Even for a limited menu, I would expect to at least pay ten bucks for the sushi alone. Now the crab… this is thai caught, previously frozen snow crab on the smallish side. They are served from a bin of water on the hot table, like everything else. So that means these were water logged. They were not boiled in salt water, but that actually made them slightly sweet. It was annoying to pull three plates of these apart, but I did get my fill. They were served with butter substitute, which was not as good as butter of course. But then I did eat it. The«American» selections… beef roll, ribs, spinich with cheese, and other such food was all overcooked and dry from laying on the heated steam table. Honestly I do not really like that food anyway, but I did taste several selections. There were butterflied fried shrimp. These all were«cafeteria» quality with one exception: The calamari were actually delicately battered and very well cooked. Minimally flavored of course, but that is not the point: calamari should be tender, but not mushy and certainly not rubbery. I was amazed to find that they make their own cocktail sauce. It was kind of sweet, kind of lemony, kind of garlicky and kind of horseradishy. My spouse feels it should be less sweet and more horseradish… but I thought the texture was amazing. It was the first time I have experienced it made in house and actually raised my eyebrows. There were several veggies. usually the green beans at this place are cooked well, not here. The salad bar was actually pretty fresh and there was a good selection of veggies and amazing fruit. Clearly the pineapple was very well selected and perfectly sweetly ripe. There were a few asian selections like general tso’s and orange chicken. These were poorly prepared with dark chicken; mostly over sauced gelatinous hot mess. What a shame, that this is the hallmark dishes of americanized asian food, clearly with some talent in the kitchen. If they improved the cooking in this area alone, the 14 dollar price would be more than worth it. in fact, this is the real down side of this place. What a crying shame that to save a dollar by using crappy quality chicken, the whole place seems terrible. I wish I could bend the ear of the owner and teach them a little about quality. I bet they could even charge sixteen dollars on friday, sat and sunday if the chinese selections were better. The Habachi grill was just a raw selection of the same crappy ingredients available already cooked. Things were prepared without skill or flair. Simple things here could make all the difference in the world. Lastly the desserts: some were the standard tiny cake selections clearly made elsewhere and shipped here frozen. They did have some in house selections that were covered with fluff. Several canned fruits and(very sweet, ripe) fresh fruit were available. Real ice cream was available, there was green tea ice cream, which was curious and novel. Nothing amazing at all here, but then again asian desserts are usually fresh fruit. Some flair would help here. I would suggest some of the more fun asian presentations of simple fresh fruit. Good luck with this place. You have to work a little to make it a valuable experience.

We had tried this place when they first opened and it wasn’t terrible so we thought we’d try it again. That was a mistake. The food was cold, most of it was cruddy looking faux American food. The«chicken» could not be chewed or cut up. But maybe if we could find a knife we could had hacked through it. The egg drop soup was so oily it could not be eaten. Worst item on the buffet had to be the strawberries, more than ½ of them were black or brown. The waiter never came to check on us which means we did not get any refills on our drinks. Never again will we go here.

I wish I didn’t even have to give a star to this place. It was filthy inside, crap all over the floor. We walked in, sat down, and the waiter walked away. He didn’t even explain anything to us nor did he ask if we wanted drinks. And Not to mention he never came back to check on us after we had taken the liberty to figure everything out ourselves. I mean, I know it’s a buffet, but at least explain a little bit since there is a hibachi and sushi station. This place was a Sh*t hole. Ghetto. Pure ghetto. You couldn’t pay me to go back here.

Buffets scare me a little. That being said, this place was very lean and had lots of options. I opted for the hibachi as I thought it was the safest best… made fresh in front of me. There is a little bit of everything here, though. Everything I did try was good. Stayed clear of the sushi. I am a sushi fan, but buffet sushi… scares me!

I’ve been to many Chinese Buffet and most of them are good because I know most Chinese restaurant have Chinese person cooking. But not at this Hibachi Buffet, you would be expecting a China man standing behind Hibachi but NO! It was a Mexican person. The food that was producing from that Hibachi is ABISMO. The sushi stand is a different story. A Japanese or a Chinese person was creating all the rolls and it was pretty good, very pretty. The food at the buffet stand were alright not as bad as Hibachi stand. I gave it two star due to Mexican Hibachi.

Buffets are never, ever my first choice, but I would be willing to come back here. You can’t compare the food to an actual sushi bar, hibachi or Chinese restaurant, but for a buffet, the food is solid. I have to say I was extremely disappointed by the soups. I tried the egg drop and the miso and neither was good enough to eat more than a couple spoonfuls. The hibachi lacks the entertainment factor of going to an actual hibachi restaurant, but the food was legitimately good. I really liked that it was build you own so I could go easy on the noodles. I’m always leery of buffet sushi, but the few rolls I had were decent. And everything looked pretty fresh. I liked that you could watch As a whole the restaurant is clean, the staff is friendly, and the service is good.

The price is comparable to other buffets, so that’s a good thing. The are good at cleaning tables, but the chatter like a bunch of high schoolers. Almost all of the food was really dry and tough. I am VERY disappointed in my overall experience at this Hibachi. I have been very satisfied at other Hibachi restaurants, but this on is by far the worse. Don’t waste your time coming here. You’d be better off going to Matteson or Oak Park!!!

Noticed this new place on the way to work. Checked it out on a Friday night. The 1st table we sat at was uneven so we moved. Most of the food was ok, nothing special. Staff picking up plates/chef @ the Hibachi grill weren’t too friendly and you can tell they didn’t want to be there. I don’t know why I even bother w/buffets because most of the time they’re weak.

Solid 4, not a Fiver but, good enough to proudly recommend. I took plenty of pictures — check ‘em out, give ‘em the thumb if ya likey. Here’s the skinny: $ 9.35 for a Pepsi and Buffet(Sushi+Hibachi included) I ate the sushi and raw baby clams and survived, bowels intact and everything! Hibachi and Sushi station are good to go! Lotsa«Nom Noms!™» Good variety. Nice folks there, great service staff. It’s very clean and tidy too! Here’s the fat: First time I went in I got some of the baby clams, which goes against the cardinal rule of «Don’t get anything raw at a buffet… EVER». They were purdy good, I’m not a raw clam connoisseur but, these I liked. Second time around I went to the Sushi Bar got 5 pieces and they were delicious, not«Downtown Upscale» delicious but, nice ‘n local delicious. I survived… TWICE, with err… how to put this delicately? No «Stomach Distress» at all. OK, the Hibachi and Sushi Stations — exceptionally clean. Friendly folks behind both counters too. The sushi is made right there in front of you, you know it’s fresh and not shipped in via FedEx. Picture — The grill area is pretty good, not amazing but good. You pick what you want, put it on a plate(I did fried rice) hand it to the cook and he does what he does. Picture — The buffet area is pretty substantial and has plenty of choices. The food is A-OK. Nothing too special but, for $ 10 you can’t beat it! Everything from General Tso’s to Stuffed Mushrooms to Meatloaf. They’ve also got, get this — ANIMALCRACKERS!!! yup, Animal Crackers in a bowl by the Ice Cream, which isn’t in a «Soft Serve» machine but in a Freezer in tubs that you have to scoop out of! Awesome, real ice cream rocks! Plenty of toppings for it too. The staff is friendly enough, clean and well kempt. So is the general restoraunt area too, Tables and booths are damn near spotless, the floor is as clean as a floor can get considering the traffic and people dropping food(which gets cleaned up right away). I’d recommend this place for a quick cheap lunch or dinner. It’s nothing fancy or anything like that, just cheap, decent food. BTW they have Lychee Fruit too! SYOY

We went there by recommendation. It is very inexpensive only $ 10 per person. They do have a lot of different dishes however none are very«good.» Most of the food is flavorless and just«ok» The American food is just awful so stay away from that. The Chinese food is decent but nothing special. The Hibachi is the best value. However don’t get the steak. it is very chewy and disgusting. The restaurant was clean and really bright. Overall not a «bad place» but just«ok» You are better ordering from your favorite Chinese restaurant. They own another restaurant in Matteson.
