Wow. Awesome service, delicious dishes, and the music from the bar was unbelievably great. Though pretty dumpy looking outside, the interior is nice, with multiple small rooms giving the place a more intimate feel. Wife started with a Manhattan Mixed salad which she inhaled. Said it was terrific… It must have been! I began with a Manhattan which was well executed but served in a ridiculous«pimp» glass. That was hokey but the only bad thing I could say about the place. I had the French onion soup and it was sublime. Next up was an NY strip for the misses, which was wonderful. I had the Colorado rack of lamb and it was unbelievable. Sooooo flavorful and served with fantastic sides including asparagus, grilled tomato and potato gratin. Dessert was a delightfully sized Gran Marnier soufflé. The perfect ending to a very romantic meal. And the service — unparalleled. The server greeted us by name and we were well attended without being smothered, and everyone was very gracious. It is easy to recommend this place after an experience like that…

THISRESTAURANTISNOTCLOSED! We have driven by this spot a million times and never stopped in until last weekend — and I am SOGLAD we did! This place has been under new ownership for about the last year or so, and even being picky, critical, overly-sensitive foodies, we had the best meal we’ve had in years — REALLY. Service was excellent, food quality and presentation was outstanding, and our waiter was hands down, the best, most knowledgeable one we’ve had in a long, long time. To top it off, the place is such a surprise inside you wouldn’t expect from the blasé exterior. A few menu tips(menu varies from many of the other postings I’ve seen here on Unilocal so maybe it has changed with new ownership or changes periodically?): Diver Scallops with Lemon Butter Risotto Appetizer — Divine. Scallops were perfectly cooked and the risotto was rich and creamy, but the hint of lemon sent it over the top with flavor. We wanted to lick the bowl. Caesar Salad — Sounds boring but we had to try one salad. Parmesan crisp on top was amazing, and the dressing was perfect. Light, flavorful, and bits of balsamic and kalamata olives on the plate made for a beautiful bust of flavor to go along with the salad. Braised Short Ribs with Caramelized Onion Mashed Potatoes — Absolute heaven. Comfort food kicked up a HUGE notch. The bowl was filled with a dark, rich red wine sauce you will literally want to drink with a spoon. New York Steak — Surprisingly delicious for a non-traditional steak and seafood house. Husband loved it, and the Lyonnaise potatoes were another wonderful treat. Desserts — You can’t go wrong with anything on the dessert menu. They also give you these wonderful little homemade biscotti with a cinnamon sugar topping so make sure you try them. We joked with our waiter about wanting about a hundred to take home(we were so full), and he brought us a to-go container with a supply of them. So thoughtful. Anyway — can’t say enough about this place. Take your sweetie and check it out!

I have been here a few times and it’s always been for drinks in the bar area, never for dinner in the dining area. With that said, they have a fantastic happy hour. The appetizers are delicious and 50% off. The wine selection is decent(I’m sure it’s fantastic if you have the money to spend) and the vibe is cool. It is a very posh restaurant but not stuffy and I never feel like I don’t fit in. The owner is exceptionally nice and treats all patrons like a friend. I give it 4 stars because its a little pricey, but again, if you go during happy hour you will be full of good food and happy.

This restaurant is still open for business. It just changed names, it is now called Manhattan Steak and Seafood( ). I had dinner there last year, I had the beet salad(portion was a bit small, but good) and for entrée I had the stuffed pork chops and they were absolutely juicy and tender. Food was great and the décor was beautiful.

I dont know why it says«Closed» we went there saturday to celebrate a friends birthday party. I didn’t eat dinner there my self but, a majority of the party did. The food looked good but, I heard a few complaints one of the dishes ordered tasted awful. I dont know what was ordered but I wiould have been pissed if I paid $ 25.00 for a dish that sucked. Now the bar /dance area was well presented and spacious. My only complaint is the drinks are highly over priced. My wife ordered a glass of merlot and it was $ 14.00, she said it was one of the best she has had, for $ 14.00 a glass it had better given her a «O». The staff were extreemly nice and polite, we will be going back this weekend for another party. I will be hammering a few before going in this time, I think I spent $ 60.00 on my drinks(Beer is $ 5.00 a bottle) and $ 56.00 on 4 glasses of wine for my wife. We took a taxi home!

We came here for my birthday and I had a nice time. I was quite tired as I had just returned from skiing that same day so some parts of the evening might have been blurry. I remember drinking some really good wine. I had some sort of salad. And then I had a really great steak. Come to think of it, everything I had personally was good. I can’t vouch for the others who were at the table though.

Just got back from dinner and here is a quick review: Appetizer: French Onion Soup — Very good. The onion is perfectly caramelized. Must-have Caesar — Good. Not worth the price. Very small portion. Sides: Mac N Cheese — Da bomb. Worth every penny and the portion is somewhat big. Bigger than the appetizer. French Fries — not bad. great flavor but wasnt as crunchy as i thought it should be. Main Dish: Filet Mignon — Very flavorful but not as «soft» as I expected for the price. New York Steak — Again, perfectly cooked and seasoned but just not the best meat. Mahi-Mahi — Love the sauce and the crusted macadamia nut, but they overcooked the fish. It wasn’t flaky. Crab Linguini — I didnt try it but my friend said it was good, nothing too special. Its a good size portion compared to everything else. Service was very spotty. At first it was great(I brought my own wine and he brought out a decanter and filter since it was an older wine). Once our dinner was done with, our waiter was nowhere to be found, and the other waitress came over to check on us after we sat there for awhile. Overall, it was a nice dinner but not anything to rave about.

I’ll let you in on a little secret: during restaurant week calories don’t count. And fat grams? Well fat grams, they just float off into thin air. It’s true. I read it on the internet. It MUST be true. Don’t you dare tell me otherwise. So, in order to take advantage of this and, of course, the stellar prix fixe deals I headed on over to Manhattan Supper Club for… well…supper. I got the chance to hang out in the lounge for a bit before dinner — although I just missed happy hour and was stuck with getting a $ 14 margarita. Oh, but don’t worry, it was organic. Plus it was served in glass that was at least 18″ tall. So, yeah. Totally worth $ 14.(On a side note, when the hell is the internet going to invent a «sarcastic» font?) Dinner started off with the server skirting around the fact that it was restaurant week. As soon as he realized we were all going for the prix fixe, he lost all interest. I mean, he wasn’t a horrible server — but you could definitely tell he wasn’t into it. Whatever, dude. We still ended up paying over $ 150 for three people for dinner — and tipped you on that. Get over yourself. Aside from that — yes, this place is most definitely an a-okay establishment. The ambiance is okay. The service is okay. But, the steak is delicious. The sauce it’s smothered in, on the other hand? Not so much. Why the hell must certain places feel the need drown their meat in sauce. It was a damn good steak too. But the sauce was just… ugh. Too much. And for the make-or-break: mac n’ cheese. Meh. Less than meh. Not so much. *sigh* I must say, I did enjoy my dinner a overall, and I wasn’t disappointed. I may go back, but I’m not totally interested in going back anytime immediately. On a side note: their bathroom stalls are all kinds of ass-backwards. First of all, the purse hooks are made for women that are six feet tall, I could barely reach it on my tip-toes. And then, about 8 inches up from the floor is the toilet paper? WTF? Don’t even ask about the tampon trashcan. Oh, you’re going to ask, aren’t you? Yep — right at eye level. Something went severely wrong here.

Came here for hubby’s birthday with a group of friends. They were nice enough to accommodate our large group at a long table in the middle of the upstairs dining room. What I really liked about this place is how it is housed in a «cottage», reminiscent of going into someone’s plantation home. The bar is downstairs and there is a dining area on the other side both upstairs and downstairs. Hot foccacia was brought out to the table and it was good! So good that my starving child ate almost the entire basket! Our group ordered appetizers and entrees individually as no one wanted to share. They did quite a good job getting all our appetizers out in good time. My French Onion Soup wasn’t bad. I enjoyed it, although I think the one at Pescadou Bistro is better. I also tried the beet salad which, for a beet salad, didn’t really have enough beets in it. The other appetizer I tried was the butternut squash ravioli. I understand that a sprinkling of sea salt on the ravioli for seasoning enhances the dish, but there was just WAY too much of it. The end result was that the dish was quite unpalatable and we had to brush off the sea salt in order to eat it. Since I haven’t had great luck with steak the last few times I visited a restaurant specializing in steak or chops, I decided to pass and instead, go with fish. Hubby and another friend, however, went with the steak… hubby’s sirloin was actually excellent. I thought it was flavorful and seasoned perfectly. Our friend’s Cowboy Steak(the most expensive cut on the menu) was disappointing! Bland — and I’m not talking about it not being seasoned — lacking any beefy flavors, I was glad I stood by my initial instinct to not go with the steak. All the ladies at the table ordered fish. I had seen a trout dish on the website menu but was told it was on the lunch menu. However, I was impressed that they made it for me anyway. My girlfriends ordered the macadamia nut crusted halibut — did not like this at all — fish was tasteless and I don’t like fruit in my dishes so the mango did nothing but turn me off the flavor of the fish. However, this wouldn’t be something I would order anyway so it’s a non-issue for the purpose of this review. Another girlfriend ordered the blackened mahi mahi. It was so overly salty that the only thing I tasted was salt, salt, salt. I couldn’t taste the fish at all. I was surprised seeing I make blackened seafood a lot at home and it’s never too salty. Trick is not to mix your blackened spices with the salt, but instead, add salt separately. My friend sent this dish back and when they brought it back sans the blackened spices, was actually very well executed! The fish was moist and very flavorful, just not blackened. The sesame crusted ahi tuna another friend had has got to be the worst dish I’ve ever had in terms of seafood. The ahi was so fishy it was hard for me to keep it down. I had to take a swig of my wine in order for me not to gag on it. This is why I do not order anything rare or raw at a place not considered a high end sushi/sashimi restaurant. There’s nothing worse than eating extremely fishy fish when that particular fish is not supposed to be fishy at all when super fresh. Sesame ahi tuna — BIGFAIL! After the great start with the appetizers, the entrees were brought out to everyone except for mine. I waited for quite a while before they brought it out — I didn’t really mind, but because this place touts itself to be a higher end restaurant, I kept that aspect in mind with regards to my dish not in front of me along with my friends’ entrees. When my trout finally arrived, it was good — the best out of all the fish dishes(except for the mahi mahi take two) even though the trout itself was overshadowed by the cherry tomato halves and asparagus stalks. The topping was slightly overkill, but luckily I like cherry tomatoes and asparagus. They were also very generous on the garlic in this dish and since I am a garlic lover, it was a positive thing. Dessert was ordered although I didn’t have any, but I was told that it was a hit and miss. Like other reviewers, some of our credit cards were charged incorrectly — our amount was charged on a friend’s and vice versa. I think if you wanted to impress a date this would be a nice place to go to. However, if your date is a stickler for excellence, then go elsewhere. Food is average depending on what you order… but on the whole, after 11 appetizers and entrees plus desserts, I’ll have to say it was overall an average experience. Service is weird too. The man taking orders did go out of his way to be polite and helpful, but the rest of the staff, from the servers to those who refilled our wine glasses(droplets on the rim of the glass and tablecloths) and those who took our plates away(piling plates one on top of the other), I felt they were really abrupt and unpolished — lacking the finesse of what Manhattan Supper Club seems to be marketing itself to be.

Should be called the Manhattan SUPER Club. Super service, Super atmosphere and amazing food. This is by far the best 8oz filet I have ever had. The cheese sampler plate is an experience unto itself, I will most definitely return to this fine establishment.

Amazingly tasty food. Unfortunately, service does not stand up to the food. We had reservations and noted our wedding anniversary on the reservations. Our reservations were for a early 6:00 on a Saturday night. There were 3 other tables full of guests at the restaurant when we arrived. With all the rooms available and open seating, we were seated along the wall next to an exit with the other 3 tables. I’m glad they took into account our special request for nice seating for our romantic evening. I always wanted a safe getaway escape from rude service. So while we were seated between odd guests, listening to them rave about their personal lives, we ordered an appetizer, after questioning why other tables have food that is not even on the menu. Can I just make up my meal? Awesome. Apparently you just have to know what’s on the bar menu to order food off that. After deliberating and not finding anything to my liking, I grew frustrated and asked if they could prepare a pasta, or a meal sized appetizer risotto. The waiter obliged to cook the lunch pasta for me.(The one kind thing that happened that night). Lets count the ways of awful service: –horrible table when there was plenty of open seating, with reservations! –waiter with no knowledge of specials — he had to go back to the chef and ask what the specials were –when asked about the price of the special, he quoted«$ 24−25» The bill came out with the entrée at $ 38. –Did not give us a steak knife or serving spoon for our side –waiter bluntly asked«is TAP water OK?» Emphasis on «Tap» –I’ve never been to a fancy restaurant that does not bring a free dessert out for special occasions, or acknowledge it. If the food wasn’t so delicious, I would have left miserable. But I dont think I will return — the service just sucked so much to make my visit depressing.

Sh*tty service, great food. Absolutely the rudest waiter we’ve ever had. He didn’t know the menu, didn’t know the specials, and spoke to us like a used car salesman. Despite our lame server, the food was excellent. I ordered a french onion soup, pepper sirloin steak, and creamed corned. The soup was one of the best I’ve had. The peppered sirloin steak was delicious, excellent beef quality, tender and juicy. The creamed corned was also fantastic, chunky yet smooth but creamy and slightly cheesy. The menu was slightly smaller than I expected but they have a few more items on the bar menu that you might be able to order from. If I was solely judging my experience on the food it would give it 4.5 stars, but since the service was so poor, I gave it a 3.5.

The gang at the office went here for Happy Hour on Wednesday after work and the experience was great! Formerly a fantastically traditional French restaurant they have kept with the dark wood and romantic lighting that is always conducive for eating a fine meal. Definitely a place for a romantic celebration or a lunch treat to impress business associates or friends. Their bar is huge yet feels cozy. High-backed booths line the walls and the bar itself is lined with the same armchairs you see at each table, very comfy. Our server was Tim, he was polite and funny and prompt with our orders and remembered each of our names; always a plus in a large group. Happy Hour is pretty impressive for the high quality of food and drink. $ 3 well cocktails, $ 3 domestic beers, $ 4 import beers and ½ off the entire bar menu. I ordered the sautéed jump shrimp which were incredibly flavorful almost to a fault. Although to my dismay they only give you three! Maybe I am nitpicking but without the ½ off price they would have been $ 16. I would have been very sad to pay $ 16 for 3 jumbo shrimp, no matter how tasty. Did I mention the army of busboys/ladies that prowled the bar? Our plates and empty drinks never sat at our table for more than 45 seconds before being whisked away; they were fantastic. All in all this restaurant is gorgeous, the food is tasty, the drinks are strong and the service attentive. I will be back, mark my words.

This is a solid place. Three of us went to check it out Monday night, prior to a big customer event for 20 on Wed. It was recommended by the concierge. The pre-visit paid off in spades — got to scope out a room, check out the menu, and make acquaintances with the owner. He is very into his new restaurant, and willing to go the extra mile to make it successful, in a brutal business. Its only 10 min cab ride from Anaheim. Wed night we took the customers in a brand new 20 person Hummer limo(zomg, it had a fake fireplace!) which was a big hit with my rural NC clientele. The menu and wine list is well done. Steaks are definitely the main focus, but there are many other great dishes and apps, including scallops, crab cakes, ahi starters that are all very good. The cuts of beef are perfectly prepared, and they have an amazing rack of lamb, ahi, mahi mahi and others for those not wanting beef. The bar is very well done, and a great place to hang out. Its worth it for a solo drink, or pre-dinner — make time for a cocktail. There are multiple dining rooms. My favorite room, which we reserved, is the wine room downstairs, which normally has multiple tables, and and upstairs room. My least fave, and the one they really need to re-work in my opinion, is the main dining room. Its just kinda boring high end Steak house traditional with white table clothes etc and too near entries and exits. Avoid this room if you can, or get one of the booths. The owner does a really great job with a large crowd… its worth letting him know ahead of time you have large crowd coming, especially if its a customer event. I let him pick a sample of appetizers which he kept flowing and everything was well liked by my very mixed crowd. The evening was a great success, which since my scroll length tab was $ 2500, I was very glad! :p Its a good place for a dinner date(if downstairs) a great venue for a client dinner. Venture out of Mickey Mouse land and support this establishment.

Went to Manhattan Supper Club to get some drinks and hear the live jazz on Saturday night. The servers and hostess were very friendly, and the atmosphere was absolutely excellent. The bar is really cool because you can sit down in regular chairs and order dinner from the full menu right there. The live music was outstanding with a very professional band and talented(and beautiful) singer. Looking forward to bringing a big group next time to enjoy the music and company.

Was really kind of let down by this place. Read the reviews and was expecting something special. I am a big steakhouse fan and went with a couple of others who are experienced. I’ll give it 3 stars because it is ok, but certainly does not rank up there with places like Nick & Stefs in LA, Kinzie Chop House in Chicago, or Frankie & Johnnies in NYC. The wine list is good, but I hate it when the waiter gives a canned response of «Excellent Choice!». I probably could have ordered Night Train and gotten the same response. The steak selection was decent, but none of our steaks came out cooked as ordered. Two were underdone and two were over cooked. The waiters did not come by very often and it was a struggle tracking them down. All in all I think you can do better by going to one of the chains like Morton’s, Fleming’s, Ruth’s Chris, or McCormick & Schmicks.

We have a new contender for best steakhouse in Orange County! What a pleasant surprise. I had no expectations going in, but what we found was the most flavorful and best prepared steaks in a long time. I had the 24 oz bone-in ribeye, which was fantastic, and the two filet’s at the table were perfect as well. I’m normally not one to ruin a fine cut of meat with sauces, but at the suggestion of the manager we ordered a sauce sampler with dinner. The blueberry merlot and maytag bluecheese were the clear standouts. Sides were great, everything was hot and cooked exactly as ordered. I’m going to conditionally put Manhattan Supper Club at the top of my steakhouse list for Orange County; just slightly ahead of Mastoe’s and Flemmings. 1 more visit that repeats and they’ll be solidly locked in. Special tip of the hat to the manager Max Hanley. He spent a significant amount of time just talking to us and really added to our overall experience. We also chatted with the executive chef who’s passionate about his craft and it clearly shows in the food. Finally, the restaurant is a little bright in daylight, so you may want to make dinner reservations for dusk or later. Cellar room that’s open on weekends looks great and would be a good choice for an intimate dinner. Enjoy!

Last night my taste buds were loving me for treating them to best 12 oz filet mignon they’ve ever tasted! Accompanied by creamy, buttery mashed potatoes and sizzling, spicy jumbo prawns, can you say«food orgasm»!! This place is great, beautiful décor, and great service. Possibly the best steakhouse in O.C. You can see more of Manhattan Supper Club photos at
