This is as good as a pit beef place can get. Fantastic sides especially collard greens and baked beans. Food is consistent and been going there for years.

Please look close at this picture there is hair in that macaroni… Disgusting …, picture is worth a thousand words needless to say I called after I took two bites and noticed there was hair in the food because it got stuck on my fork while trying to take a bite… Ewe… so they told me to return it and they will replace it??? I’m at work I can’t just leave… But no apologies and no offer for refund… Only to replace it with more macaroni salad… Gross I’ll pass.

I had the pork bbq sandwich, fries and mac n cheese. Food was good, but nothing to rave about. The sandwich had a generous portion of meat which I appreciated, but definitely get some of their bbq sauce to go with it. Fries were good — cut from fresh potatoes and hot. Mac n cheese was lacking a bit, I needed to add some salt and pepper. Would I go there again? Yes, but would try some different things the next go around.

Pit beef is pretty much only thing you should het here – no where else does it as well… used to like their sleep potato fries. But the sandwiches are really really nasty and the last time last two times I got fries they were soggy and gross good luck

It may be winter but if you’re craving that summer-time taste of pit beef BBQ, Expressway is the place to go! Roadside BBQ ready in minutes(this is a roadside shack, order at the window to go with some outdoor seating). I ordered the pit beef sandwich, with cole slaw and mac and cheese. The beef was moist and delicious, sliced just right. The roll was fresh and soft. The cole slaw was sweet and crunchy, just the way I like it. The mac and cheese didn’t thrill me. It had more of a processed taste rather than the taste of cheesy homemade goodness, but the kids enjoyed it… enough said. The staff was also very friendly and quick to deliver. I highly recommend Expressway Pit Beef!!! Expressway Pit Beef is the perfect place to pick up delicious BBQ for the entire family. Why wait for summer to get your BBQ fix when you can enjoy it all year long?

awful just awful. I wish I was a mean enough person to say worse things. Way expensive($ 42 for 1 sandwich and three sides and a milkshake) for what we got. The pulled pork was floating in BBQ sauce so you couldn’t taste the pork at all. Milkshake tasted like refrozen or at least freezer burnt ice cream and sour. The three teenagers took their sweet time(50 minutes) and it cost $ 42 for only enough food for 2 people. Second time I tried this place. First time I ate here pit beef was good. Won’t go back. I’m so upset about being swindled by this place I want to just get my money back.

I had the pork BBQ sandwich. It was ok. Nothing to rant or rave about. It was a cool place to get something quick to eat. I probably wouldn’t go back or remember this place after a few days lol.

Pretty good pit beef sandwich. I’ve only had pit beef twice in my life so take my review however you’d like. I got he medium pit beef sandwich but it was still dry. The people who prepared the sandwich had very minimal BBQ sauce on the sandwich but it was appetizing because I finished it and I was hungry. It was not good enough that I would crave it and want to return but if your hungry and want something different, I’d say give this place a try.

I agree with the other reviewers about this place being inconsistent. The first time we went here all of the food was amazing. We sat outside on one of the benches and had a cozy little picnic. The food was incredible. Fast forward to almost a year later and there are things that need definite improvement. Prices are a little steep. For a pulled pork BBQ meal, the price was around $ 10. What did it include? Sandwich, fries, drink, and a side. I’ll go into detail on each item below… pulled pork sandwich– simply amazing. By far the best thing I ate. The pork was not too soggy which is a problem with a lot of BBQ joints. I like to eat it as a sandwich, not a sloppy mess! And they piled it on the sandwich. Great job! drink– seriously, how can you rate a drink? It was good size and refreshing. fries– fresh cut, yes. Tasty, no! I’m not sure if it is the oil they use or the potatoes but I could barely stomach the fries. They were bearable after I dipped them in the BBQ sauce(very yummy!). I could never eat them plain. side– like the fries, a big disappointment. At most you can have 1, maybe 2 bites out of the container. We ordered the mac n cheese, which my wife said reminded her of the lean cuisine version. Ouch… Final verdict– come here for drinks and sandwiches but don’t expect much in the way of fries or sides. Maybe the sides are a better size if you order them separately, but the bill was already over $ 20 for one meal and a sandwich.

Good food, but very inconsistent. The first time we went there, the food was amazing, but the second time we got our food to go and when we got home, we had raw sliced beef on a bun. I like my meat medium rare, but that was ridiculous. We couldn’t even eat it. My job has these guys cater our work events and I have found that the catering quality is also inconsistent. Two weeks ago, they were at my job and the beef was so well done it was like jerky. Just awful. No amount of BBQ sauce or horseradish could moisten it up. It was free, so I don’t want to make a big stink, but just be warned. What you are served today you may not be what you are served tomorrow. On a better note, everyone who works here is really kind and pleasant.

Not one thing I ordered was good. Hot wings-rubbery and generic; Old bay wings-rubbery and not nearly enough old bay; «Homemade» mac and cheese-just gross; «Hand made» ½ lb burgers-overcooked, dry, and tasteless; Fries-greasy little potato chunks, not fries. One other comment about the burgers. I LOVE a good burger and I’m always looking for the best. I asked if their burgers were hand made and cooked to order. They answered«yes». Then they proceeded to burn the hell out of it. Extremely disappointing. One other thing. The only reason I stopped was to get fried oysters which were listed on their marquee on the side of the road… they didn’t have any. I didn’t try the pit beef, but, if everything I ordered sucked, there’s no way I’m wasting another dime at this place.

We found this thanks to Unilocal, when we had a hankering for BBQ or a close approximation. When we saw Expressway Pit Beef come up we had to stop. And boy were we glad we did. The most tender and flavorful pit beef I’ve found in the greater Baltimore area. Good sides; the fries are a lot like 5 Guys fries, and they have malt vinegar available, though I must say the portions are kind of small for the mac and cheese(still real tasty). Big menu, but I don’t know why, with such good pit beef. A must try.

Little roadside joint in Odenton. Not bad, not great… you know, it’s kinda in that middle of the road«go-there-again-if-you-have-no-other-option» zone. It’s a tad pricey for a sandwich and fries, and the sides offered with the sandwich meals are more like shots of sides than actual side dishes. Be prepared to wait… went on a Friday night around 8:30 with only one group of two ahead of us and still waited a solid 20 minutes for two sandwiches. Food was tasty… the pit beef was tender and had some good flavor and the pulled pork was actually very good. The fries are, well… fries. Not much to write home about there. All in all, it’s okay, but I don’t see too many return trips.

Roadside stand. My kinda place. Everything I tried was good, but not great. I think the reason is that it is trying to do too much. The best joints do a few things well and leave it at that. The place is supposed to be about pitt beef, so I went with that. The sandwich was good, but not as tasty as some others around Baltimore.(the closer you get to Chaps the more that is expected) This does not quite have that taste. I don’t know how the best beef places get it to be so flavorful, but Expressway falls a little short. The fries were OK as well, as were the wings. I did not try the snowballs but they looked great.(another Baltimore staple). What I loved was the Apple Fritters – unique, fried and excellent. I’d come back just for those. My advice would be to thin out the menu, work on the beef and there will be lines around the block.

We were exploring Odenton on a Sunday in April and stumbled upon this place, which looked just disreputable enough to be a gem. Adding to expectations was the high Unilocal rating. Unfortunately it sucked bad. Don’t be fooled — this is not a bbq place — they don’t smoke meat or anything. This is a roast beef place. Also, this should really be a one star review, but I know people don’t take them seriously. I ordered the pit beef sandwich with fries and«campfire beans.» The gf had the pit turkey sandwich with fries and mac & cheese. We waited for THIRTYMINUTES to get our food, which is completely unacceptable at a take-out restaurant where you are standing around outside waiting for your food. In addition, as far as I could tell they didn’t have to actually cook any food other than dunking a few fries in hot lard. Most of it was just slapping meat on bread. This place is disorganized. They don’t take your name or give you a number or anything, so there is lots of confusion when it comes time to pick up your food. We saw another family just leave becaue they were so frustrated. And all of our containers of food had dirty saucy fingerprints all over them from the kitchen staff. I understand this is supposed to be a folksy place, but I mean wipe that off, c’mon. On the positive side, the namesake pit beef on the beef sandwich was pretty tasty, although nobody asked me how I wanted it(rare, etc.). I would say I got medium rare, which is probably what I would have ordered. Seriously, the beef is alright. However, everything else was terrible. After waiting for an eternity, we opened up our styrofoam containers to find plain sliced meat on some boring bun. The condiment station had onions and horseradish and not much else, and looked quite honestly like it was ripe for contamination with no lids on anything and people sticking their grubby hands in everything. Something was off about the Turkey. It was a translucent color that looked like the bird must have been sick or something. It had some smokey taste to it, but we couldn’t finish it because there was something very strange and terrible about its consistency. The gf equated it to the sickening, gelatinous texture that you get on really cheap deli meat. I see a bunch of reviews raving about the fries. I love fries. Like any fry, these probably would have been better fresh out of the fryer, but they weren’t. They were sort of room temperature and completely soggy. The bag was noticeably damp with grease when they handed it to us. I don’t even think they had salt on them. Five Guys makes significantly better fries than this place. The sides were a joke. The mac & cheese was as bad as you can possibly imagine mac & cheese. The sauce was some fluorescent orange cheese whiz-style vomit that had congealed around overcooked macaroni. The whole mess had cemented itself together, so when you went to fork out a bite, the whole disgusting thing popped out like a mucus plug. It wasn’t even tasty in the sickening, but comforting, way that Kraft blue box is. I don’t know how you could make mac & cheese worse than this. The beans were had little tiny bits of unidentified meat product floating around in them. There was nothing remarkable about them. What else. Oh the bbq sauce I swear to god came straight out of some industrial tub of Sysco bbq sauce. I would never go back to this place.

Having been here many, many times I can now hands-down say they also have the best wings in the area. Order them; order them in bulk if you can. You won’t be sorry with either the buffalo or the honey barbecue. The pit beef remains delectable, although I still prefer The Canopy by a slim margin on that count. The ribs are simply passable; if they would get a smoker, we’d have a five-star destination for sure.

If you’re looking for BBQ and you’re in the Odenton area, look no further. This place is good for what it offers and when the food is fresh, it is well worth the price. We usually enjoy the pulled pork and sometimes the sweet potato fries. The portions are large, so if you’re going with your spouse or significant other, order just one side of fries. There isn’t much of an ambiance, but hey… it’s a BBQ place on the side of a freeway. Again, if you’re in the area and you want some BBQ… stop on by!

Best meal I’ve had near Ft Meade in ages. My date ordered the pit beef meal and I ordered a BBQ sandwich. My guy slathered on a little horseradish had only good things to say about his sandwich. The bbq was nicely seasoned and had just the right amount of sauce. The fries were hot and fresh, but a bit greasy for my tastes. The potato salad was excellent, but the portion was a little small. This is a picnic, not a restaurant… you order and pick up at the window and have a seat at the picnic tables, eat in your car, or carry your food away. Despite the fries, I’ll be back… I’ll just be trying the other sides.
