Terrible food and WAY too overpriced. Came here with a big group and nobody had a positive thing to say about their food. My husband got mahi mahi that tasted awful, it was dry and the rice was extremely underwhelming. It was $ 30 and should have been $ 13 at most. Just bad… Sadly. Spent a ton of money here for bad food. Good thing we had good company

Awesome atmosphere our waiter was just as good the sangria fresh made and the food from raw clams to simple chicken fingers to scallops to tuna to crab cakes were just as good if not better. While it wasn’t cheap it was the best meal we have had since in town. Definitely a restaurant to make a visit to whenever you are in Ocean City.

The atmosphere is beautiful, we sat right next to the bay. The service and food were terrible! We waited almost 10 min to get greeted and our server was anything but friendly. After ordering drinks/meals she took another ten minutes to get our drinks out. I ordered the mussels, which were swimming in a pool of butter with chunks of tomatoes floating in it. My mother got herb crusted salmon with arrived cold. Our server never checked on us so she just ate it. When our server finally came over we told her about the temperature issue and her response was oh that’s not good and just stared at us. Didn’t offer to reheat it or replace it or even act like she cared. This place has a good gimmick with the cruise so there food and service is lacking. I would never go here again! Two stars for the atmosphere only!

It’s been a few years since we’ve been here and hoped when we returned it would still be good. The fried flounder was still delicious. The menu has changed a bit so there were a few things we missed but we were not disappointed with the flounder or our brie wheel. We were however disappointed with the fries which looked like they had been made the day before and tasted soggy. The chicken tenders were very overcooked as well. We’d still stop back though.

I had two items, the cream of crab soup and the imperial shrimp. The soup was a little disappointing. It had a bit too much salt and could have used a bit more crab. The imperial shrimp on the other hand was very good. The rice and vegetables were perfectly cooked. They were coupled perfectly with a buttery mix of crab and shrimp. Service was good. Wait staff could have been a bit more attentive but they were busy. Décor and view was ok. This place would be a definite 3 star kind of place except for the fact that the main course was delcious.

My family and I found the angler to be a very good place with quality food. I would have to say it was the best seafood we had in the area for sure. The only reason I can not give a fifth star is the final bill was $ 360 for four people that is extremely expensive when the décor is plastic chairs and old booths looked like the restaurant from John Candy’s summer rental! If you choose to charge those prices I expect the total high end gastrointestinal experience will great décor, perfect presentation in the plating and high quality dishes. The only thing the angler had to justify charging those prices was the food quality as it was excellent however the plating was not at all aesthetically pleasing(nor was it intended to be) and the service was good but not great.

There are times in life when the stars just don’t align, and you are sucked into a black hole of mediocrity. That would summarize our dining experience. The food served was not a adequate representation of the menus promises. In the angler universe«fresh yellowfin tuna”= pile of gooey unknown protein and crab dip= mustard and mayo mixed with same unknown gooey protein. The chicken breast sandwich could serve as the puck to be used in the Caps first game of 2016. Get your act together. Plz.

Reading the reviews beforehand, we went in cautiously but wanted to give it a try. We stood by the entrance but the staff was in the midst of a «meeting» and didn’t even acknowledge our presence. It’s like they were intentionally avoiding eye contact with us while my wife and I exchanged looks. A simple, «we’ll be right with you» would have sufficed but nothing, so we walked out. As we walked out, one of the staff members made the snarky comment of «they weren’t even waiting long», solidifying our decision to walk out.

Went for dinner with 14 people, sat outside with a great view of the sunset over the bay. Got the fresh fried flounder that was excellent, service was average, the best part is the cruise they offer for an extra $ 2 a person after you eat. We vacation in South Bethany every summer and will definitely be coming back again.

We had an awesome waitress that really tried her best to accommodate us. The food was terribly overcooked and came out cold. Would not recommend.

Good food, great drinks, awesome view of the sunset. Very pleasant waiter who had plenty of drink recommendations. Hubby loved watching to boats coming and going. Live bands a bit dated in their musical selections, but we will definitely be back again.

First we waited for our kids there and had a drink at the bar while they went parasailing the drinks were delicious. Then we liked the drinks so much we went to go back the next night for dinner. Dinner did not disappoint everything was delicious appetizers and entrées.

Ate here several times during our vacation for breakfast lunch and dinner. Breakfast is the best we’ve had and we’ve been to sorianos, the kitchen which is overpriced for small portions, Atlantic stand fractured prune and dunkin donuts. Lunch and dinner were good as well. Good food, fair prices and great view overlooking the bay

Came with my family in the late morning for breakfast. It was a quick walk down from our hotel. The Chesapeake Benedict was a great meal. My dad got the Seafood Omelet and said it was great. They didn’t put too much Old Bay seasoning on and he definitely appreciated that. Overall it was a good meal and I definitely recommend it to people in the area.

The food here was good, but the portions are very small for what we paid for. I ordered the spinach salad because it was one of the only vegetarian options on the menu. It came out with bacon on it(yuck!!) I am not sure why it had bacon, since the menu said nothing about bacon, but did say it came with pecans. I am thinking that someone may have mistaken the bacon for pecans. The waitress was very nice and gave me a whole new salad. It was delicious! The best part was that dinner included an after dinner cruise for only $ 2 a person. We saw a ton of Dolphins and really enjoyed our time. Out of all the places we have eaten at here in OCMD, this one had the best food overall.

One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. Server was brand new and was handling a party of 8 but he did the best he could and remained very friendly. We made a reservation at 815 and after we ordered we were told we have to wait extra time because the kitchen was closing and the salad bar lady was leaving. Keep in mind it was now 845 and they supposedly close at 11. We asked for the manager and POLITELY told her that we were confused about the wait and why is the kitchen closing so early. She told us rudely that it was a lie and that our check was only 8 minutes long so far. Inaccurate. We told her it was fine and we would be patient. Once we finally got the food we were starving and ready to eat some good seafood and steaks! The filets we received were not filet they were sirloins and were unevenly cooked and mainly rare when we ordered medium. The scallops I ordered were extremely small and had a hefty portion of sand in the two that I ate. The flounder was so smothered in butter that it was repulsive. We asked for the manager told her once again politely that we couldn’t eat this food and that we all worked apart of the restaurant business and felt bad that we had to send it back but it was unacceptable. She ripped the food off of the tables and didn’t even apologize or say anything else but ok. After that we waited about fifteen minutes for our checks the server brought it out and apologized and the manager remained in the back for the 20 minutes he tried to get our checks correctly. We left hungry angry and disappointed and headed to Outback. We didn’t want to go to a chain restaurant while on vacation by a beach but honestly Outback’s food surpassed Angler’s food by a hundred miles. So when in doubt go to what you know.

Took the family to the Angler for my wife’s BDay. The waitress was wonderful but unfortunately 6 out of the 8 dinners came out cold. The flys were horrible. The Mgr came over after a long wait and took 6 of the entrees off the bill but unfortunately we all ended up grabbing dinner at a fast food joint as we lost our appetite. It was very unfortunate as we have been coming here for years.

My family and I went to The Angler for dinner our first night in OC this week. What drew us hear was the fresh catch fish and the hour-long cruise that can be enjoyed before or after dinner($ 2/pp). The Good — The cruise is very pleasant, the crew are friendly and you get a relaxing view of the bay, beachfront and can even catch a glimpse of the wild horses of Assateague Island. Beer($ 3), soda and water($ 1) are available on board. — Free valet parking. Very nice. — There is no doubt the fish is fresh. I had the blackened tuna and my wife had the broiled flounder. Both were exceptionally prepared. The Bad — Sides are an afterthought. Between us all we had their veg of the day, mashed potaotes, garlic and herb rice and fries. None of them stood out and were about as good as the typical Ruby Tuesday/Applebee’s type of side. Nothing you’ll remember — just filler. — Crab Cakes: Very dense and not nearly as much lump meat as you would think a seafood place like this would have. Again, not anything different that what you’d find at any chain restaurant. — Justin. I won’t hold it against the restaurant, as everyone else was very nice, but our waiter was horrible. He brought me the wrong beer and then argued with me that he brought what I ordered(sorry, dude, I know the difference between an IPA and a light beer!). He asked my wife what sides she wanted and then told me I didn’t have a choice… even though we ordered from the same section of the menu. Then, because I must have irritated him by wanting to drink the beer I ordered(heaven forbid!), he literally did not make eye contact with me the rest of the night and dropped off our bill without evening asking if we wanted dessert! Just the risk you take as a vacationer, I suppose, eating at places that are largely supported by kids taking on seasonal work. Overall: The fresh fish was excellent but everything on the menu was mediocre. Having done the $ 2 cruise once, I don’t think that The Angler offers enough to have me pass up on any of its numerous competitors.

Wow. One of Ocean City’s hidden, or perhaps not so hidden gems! Went twice this week, to this lovely bayside secret– first, on July 5th, by happenstance, in effort to avoid the boardwalk mayhem and boy, what an excellent decision and pleasant surprise. We sat at the outdoor bar as the sun set over the bay, munching on steamer clams the size of my fist, freshly blended Watermelon Crushes with liquor of choice, a French dip which would rival that of Cole’s in downtown LA and some of the best darned fries I’ve ever had, dusted with Maryland’s famed Old Bay seasoning-Yum! Add to this outstanding service and a lovely duo on guitar and bass, and the mood was cast: marvelous. I was saddened to have missed the happy hour, seeing that they offer 75 cent oysters and 50 cent clams — mamma mia, they must catch them right on the bay for those prices!!! Came back with my mother last night, had those amazing Watermelon Crushes again and some of the best crab cakes I’ve had in OC, and I’ve had a lot! 90% lump crab meat. Charming service again by a lovely Irish lass. The value/price ratio is fantastic. Will definitely be back!

If you’re in a large group and want outside seating overlooking the bay in OCMD, Angler is your place. I’m not going to lie, I had low standards for OCMD restaurants considering how trashy the crowd in this beach town is. However, I was thoroughly impressed with Angler. Solid food, great drinks, beautiful view, great service, and fun live music on the night I went. My only advice would be to SKIP the appetizers. We ordered the crab dip, spinach and artichoke dip, old bay shrimp, and nachos. None of them were good and they were tiny portions. The nachos were especially bad, lacking cheese. And the crab dip was a small portion and had no crab to speak of. However, the entrees and drinks were really great. The crab cakes, shrimp imperial, and fish tacos are all great options. The sides of mashed potatoes and green beans were really yummy. They make a great orange crush and watermelon crush(which was recommended to me by the bartender) here! Perfect to enjoy during the live music, which was a bunch of middle aged dudes rocking out to classics like Margaritaville. The service was really cheerful and friendly, and they accommodated our group of 12 with little notice. Despite bad appetizers, I think Angler deserves a 5 star rating. Realistically, they were more of a 4.5, but that isn’t an option and I also think their current rating is unfairly low.
