Happy Hooker Bay Fishing

Went out on the Happy Hooker for a 3 hour tour of the bay! Caught quite a few throw backs but had a great and interesting time! This is a great way to break into fishing at the shore or a good amusement for the kids or teens beats video games! Great to get a little nature and some relaxing fishing! Great for moms and dads too!

Really wasn’t impressed with this fishing experience I have never fished not has my daughter she had fun which is the most important issue captain seemed disinterested at some point observed him steering boat with his feet not a sight I needed to see his mate was more than helpful and like I said it is good for children which is a good thing won’t go back rather spend the money and buy a fishing pole and take kid myself

Sorry I am not as excited as prior reviewers. We were bummed out… a few fish were caught, but no «keepers». Apparently, all of last week there were only 2 «keepers». So this is not really a «fishing» trip. I suspect those that go in the evening to have a beer and chill with friends have fun… but we wanted to catch dinner. No such luck. And no, that’s not the «breaks».
With a *real* fishing trip, they have fish finders and know how to take you to where the fish are… and that is what determines if you’re able to catch any.
A few other notes… There is an awning so the sun isn’t too bad, and on days like today when it is on and off raining, that’s not so bad either. It is family friendly in that there are sides which would be difficult for kids to fall over, they have stools for those that can’t reach over the sides, there is no need for (or ability to) cast, so that ‘hook in eye’ risk is gone. You can also bring coolers which is nice, but there is nothing on board to clean your hands… would you want to touch bait and then eat a cracker? Not me!
Staff was nice and pleasant and seemed knowledgeable. We left a tip. But we won’t go back. Next year, we’ll go deep sea fishing — THAT is a fishing trip.

Great time. Very family friendly– enough action to keep everyone smiling. It’s not big game fishing but it’s EXACTLY what I look for when on vacation with the wife and kids.

Great trip all around! You cant beat the friendly staff, the atmosphere, the duration (about 2 hrs), & of course, the FISHING! As with any fishing trip, sometimes you do well & sometimes you dont catch anything. We did well by catching some flounder. Captain Steve & the mates were funny & very helpful in everything on the boat. I definitely recommend doing this trip. I can not wait to do this trip again once we go back to OC!
