A rip off from Rickey Sports Bar, so call copycats, and foods taste like crap, wouldn’t even deserve ½ that star

I spend a lot of time in Oakland, but I have never been to the GO Sports Bar. It doesn’t seem all that inviting from the outside and, upon entry, it smells like an old bar and not an old bar in a 1940’s Manhattan sort of way… More like the smell of an old bar that Evel Knievel or Ken Stabler would have frequented. Meaning to say, you get used to the smell about midway through the first drink. Drinks were solid, service was prompt, staff was great, crowd was solid. All-in-all a great place to have some drinks and check out a game…

Only had a drink, did not eat. A vodka cranberry and a beer cost $ 13. I don’t quite get that math. However, we were killing time and getting our heads straight on a Saturday evening, waiting for our table at Shandong Restaurant(which I reviewed). There are not a lot of bars in the area. It was festive and packed. If I cared about sports, I would come here for that. There are tons of screens. Friendly vibe.

This place came up on my search for a taco Tuesday deal in the oakland area and to say the least, there a much better places to eat than here. Taco Tuesday deals were 3 carnitas tacos for $ 6, 2 fish tacos for $ 6, 2 fried avocado fish tacos for $ 6 and 3 chicken curry tacos also for $ 6. I order the carnitas tacos which were tiny and the meat was salty. Our server was also not the nicest server. My friend asked for a Michelada and our server gave her attitude about the order. She came back with a bottle of Corona and when my friend said this was a mistake, our server proceeded to tell her the bartender added the tomato juice into the Corona bottle. if you know what a Michelada is, you know it this is not an acceptable form of a Michelada. We had the drink sent back and remade and our server continued to give us attitude. Being a past server myself, I was annoyed and disappointed with her customer service but continued to be nice to her cause I know what its like. All in all, this place was a bust for Taco Tuesday. on to the next!

We walked in, sat down, they saw us but didn’t bother to even say hello or give us the menu. They girls just looked at us and looked away. We ordered two appetizers and it took almost 1 hr for food to arrive, and the bar was 30% full. I cannot imagine how it would be like when it’s full. The food was just mediocre. Not a pleasant experience.

Again, and as always, great service when we come to Go Bar. Food is phenomenal consider it’s a sports bar! Great beer selection. Wide food selection. And TVs galoooore. :)

We just got out of an A’s game at O.Co, and had a reservation for dinner around the corner but needed to kill some time before our meal so we stopped at the Go for a beer and a game. Our server was prompt and friendly but overall I was unimpressed by beer/food menu. I grabbed a Guiness and called it a day. Those tater tot nachos did piqué my interest though, so if I’m ever back in the area(and not at the Trappist) I’d give them a go.

Great place, awesome service! Good atmosphere to watch the Warriors! Liz is great, super attentive, quick and very personable. I’d come back just because of her!

Had been a go to sports bar near my office to watch a game after work. Tons of screens, they’ll turn on any game you want. Good brews on tap, decent pub food(taco Tuesdays are the one superlative), usually nice servers, quick service too. Good crowd who is raucous and into the games, fun atmosphere. Can be hard to find a seat during Warriors playoff games. They make me feel unwelcome unless I come with a group though. They should be less discriminating of customers. For this I’ve had to remove a star.

came here to watch the basketball playoff game. sat down at a table, and we watched the game. we sat. and we sat. we waited for a waitress to take our orders. i wouldn’t make it such a big deal, if the place was busy. but it wasn’t even busy. it probably took about 10 minutes before we could actually order anything. we order the pull pork quesadillas. they were ok. we ordered some nachos but never got it. even worse, they tried to charge us for it. «i dont’ think so,» i said to the waitress. we were sick of their poor service, so we tried to leave. we asked for the check. again, it took 10 minutes. even then, i had to get another waitress to get the check. my gosh. got some lazy waitress at GO sports bar. that’s the last time i’m going to go sports bar. Rating: food: 1 price: 0 ambience: 1(their setup was uncomfortable. chairs suck. tables suck.) service: 0 Overall: 0 not coming back to this place again.

As you walk into Go Bar you are definitely impressed with the size and the plethora of televisions available. This bar, located in the heart of old Oakland, is the ideal sports bar for patrons looking for a place to watch the game and from every seat you get an unobstructed view. The additional bonus… SOUND! YES, SOUND!!! They actually play game commentary, not closed caption, which is a huge plus for me. It’s definitely a comfortable place, one that makes game watching fun, especially with the menu selection and overall fun atmosphere. It’s not your typical sports bar with a rowdy, obnoxious crowd but more of an environment for people who are serious about game watching and want a relaxed, cool, fun place to watch it in. It’s kind of hard to explain on Unilocal,so I’d suggest checking it out yourself if you’re looking for a go-to-spot for game viewing. Also their prices are reasonable for happy house, but be aware that they don’t offer happy hour prices during the play off season. Since I was there for the Warriors’ playoff game, I couldn’t take advantage of the HH menu, but still the prices was reasonable and the portion size wasn’t compromised. We ordered: Fried Chicken wings: delicious, crunchy flavorful skin on the outside moist in the inside.(4 stars) Pork Quesadilla: the pork was soft and tender but bland. I don’t think I would order again(2 stars) Fish tacos with a mango salsa: huge pieces of halibut, crispy batter and tangy yet sweet sauce(3 stars) The fried chicken wings were definitely the stars of the meal. Service was on point! Our server seemed to check in with us every five minutes which is great if you desire that type of attention. But it’s kind of a nuisance when you’re watching an intense play and you’re distracted by the service asking if everything is ok. I’d suggest for the server to read the room a little but better. But overall, this did not take anything away from the experience. My suggestion, check out this place next time you want to watch a game, but get early as it tends to fill up quickly. I got there 35 minutes before the game and managed to snag a table for four.

Go to spot for local games. Food is up to par nothin special. Only down fall Id say is when ordering a whole bottle of Liquor it’s more expensive than individual shots :/

The good: Friendly staff, good drink specials and yummy fried avocado tacos(loved the pickled cabbage on top!). The not-so-good: Sketchy neighborhood and tiny bar area. The GO Sports Bar isn’t really my jam but, if it’s yours, get the tacos!

They have really tasty wings. Healthy too! Their dipping sauce is a lemon, pepper & salt mix which is so yummy! Their grilled cheesy is good, fries are thinly cut so you eat them faster. Nothing special about their bar selection. They had a $ 5 shot special on Fireball, the shots were so small. They do not serve Coke or Pepsi, even though they say they serve Coke, it tastes more like that RC Cola shit, too much syrup, no carbonation, & cheap. Boyfriend ordered a burger, thin burger, thick bun. Many tv’s and they will play whatever game you request. Bathrooms are gross. I will return.

I’m always gonna go back for more. TVs everywhere. Super nice wait staff. One time i went with a super big crew. Bill got a little weird, and people got emotional. But I got over it and i went back and the waitress remembered us and started apologizing again. She’s so sweet! I totally forgot about that incident, so no sweat off my back. Service is GREAT for a sports bar! It’s super fun to sit at the longer tables so you can make new friends! Even the patrons are super nice! Oh, and the food is yum. Chicken tacos!

Fairly average sports pub with lots of screens everywhere. Some servers are friendlier and more attentive than others, and the modestly sized menu gets the job done, whether in the variety of drinks or in the food options that they have. I do wish they could be open later on weekends as well as certain evenings when West Coast events like Warriors or Athletics games run late.

I live within 2 blocks of this bar and love it. Good food(I’ve had their burgers, fries, house salad, and pizzas). Everything has always been satisfying and exactly what I’m looking for when I want to have a beer or glass of wine with my dinner while watching a sporting game with my bf. Friendly staff. However, sometimes the service can be slow, especially if there is a Bay Area game on. I will still give it 5 stars because I love that it is so close to my house and I can always count on a good meal when I want a tasty burger or pizza close to home.

This is one of the only sports bars in the Oakland area that I can count on during the playoff seasons in terms of proper seating arrangement and TV views. Other spots that I’ve tried either have tiny TVs, low crowd energy, and limited bar seating etc. If you’re not in the SF area booming with sports bars, it will be quite difficult to find all these factors in one spot! Of course, I still have not found my unicorn to be exact because there is one catch. The food stinks! Absolutely terrible. Garlic fries are soggy as hell and the spicy asian chicken wings are far below basic. Though the food is mighty shitty, the above factors I’ve listed above are good enough for an ecstatic sports fan during playoffs seasons. During the regular season, I’ll be somewhere else with better food, but this will do for now.

I been here multiple times, meaning over 50x. They use to have great happy hours, but it seems they change their policies. They are no longer offering happy hours during play off games, any sport any team. This can possibly go for a while. I like the crispy wings, thai chicken tacos and good beer selections. $ 5 shots and $ 1 oysters helps with no happy hr deal.
