One of my all time favorite places. Amazing burgers and great beer. The folks that work there are awesome and super fun. The food: epic burgers. The tots are spectacular. Beer: it’s owned by the same person who owns Beer Revolution. Nuf said. Service: great people. You’ll be doing yourself a favor by going.

A hidden little spot on Broadway. There’s a small patio area out front, perfect if it’s a nice day out. Inside are a few cocktail tables and picnic tables. This place kind of reminds me of zeitgeist in SF. The bar on the right has the menu on the wall. The selection of burgers and beer is very good. I chose the fried chicken sandwich, my boyfriend got the BBQ burger and we shared the garlic fries. The guy behind the bar was very friendly and gave us some good suggestions on food and beer. My chicken sandwich was HUGE. like seriously big, I got through half of it. But it was delicious. The chicken was crispy with lots of flavor, and the jalapeño slaw was on point. My boyfriend scarfed down his BBQ burger, he loved it. The garlic fries are just how I like them, thin and crispy. The garlic wasn’t overwhelming, it was a little more subtle. This place has a very laid back and casual feel. Perfect for lunch or dinner with friends.

Went on a Thursday afternoon and ordered the Hellfire Fried Chicken sandwich with friends that ordered a burger and sides. Our food came out faster than expected(10 minutes max) so, contrary to other reviews, service is very quick when the place isn’t busy. The Hellfire is *HOT*. It’s a habanero fried chicken breast with mango-jalapeño relish that is true to its name. I’m a fan of spicy food but this was fairly punishing. They won’t give you a warning so just prepare yourself to lose your macho-face a few minutes into eating the delicious and crunchy Hellfire Fried Chicken. Great beers and you can do your own bottle service from Beer Revolution next door is the tap selection at Annex doesn’t satisfy you, although it should.

it was a few months ago when i had gone here and what an amazing burger spot in the Jack London Square area. Lunch hour and its not too packed but in the evenings its a whole lot different thanks to the the beer joint next door«Beer Revolution. They’re the options when coming here: dine in, order to go, or take your food next door and enjoy some brews. Back to the the food. I had ordered the Peanut Butter and mango jam/sauce and it was the best! Perfect combination because i think if it were grape jelly it might have been weird. Seems like its not part of the menu I had ordered the jam on the side to be on the safe side but combining the two, I wished the sauce cup was much bigger: P The host/server was very pleasant and informative about everything. From the food to beer they had, to the beer offered next door lol. There are outdoor seating with heating. And the prices are fair. Been coming for lunch because I work near by and when ever Im passing by after work, it looks so lively. Definitely neat to make a trip here in the evening.

Pros: — good burguer flavor — great sound! Cons: — we waited 40 minutes to our order — the meat was medium(I ordered medium-well) — we waited 40MINUTESTOOURORDER! Guys, at saturday night, you NEED more than 1 person in th kitchen, really…

Where to start? Great eats in an area with not much selection for lunch. While I love Nation’s for fast food, Annex is on a whole ‘nother level. The quality of their food is everything. I’ve only had the burgers, but I’m sure the sandwiches are amazing too. From the bun, the different sauces they offer, the veggies, the meat and the thin crunchy fries(best fries EVERl), they know the way to a foodie’s heart. And why not wash it down with a cold beer? On a sunny day this is a perfect spot to relax and prepare for the food coma that ensues.

I’m not one to write reviews– I get that restaurants have their ups and downs– but I feel like it’s my civic duty to let my fellow Oaklanders know what a bad and bizarre time had there. In bullet form for succinctness: Cons: — waited an hour and a half(not exaggerating/rounding down even) for two burgers in a completely unpacked situation –the chef was well on his way to a total blackout and had blood on his face — had a ton of weird attitude thrown our way when we inquired in a polite way where our food was –finally got our burgers and they were rock hard, burnt, and basically inedible –extremely palpable strange vibes pervaded the area Pros: –got some free beer — now have a clear answer if anyone ever asks me about where I had my weirdest, grossest meal ever

This has the best burgers I’ve found in oakland so far. They do have a small but good selection of yard beer(hamms, schlitz etc), however the focus here is on the food. They have made a decision to not stock much alcohol choice not least in part to one of the most extensive craft beer selections being located right next door. So if you want serious drinks go next door. For serious burgers and incredible fresh fries this is the spot. The veg menu is weak-your choices are fries and the dreaded portabello burger, but the selection for meatatarians is divine. They do not offer table service-you place your order at the counter and when it’s ready they call it out. There is a small counter/bar area if you feel sociable and/or don’t want to stand in line for the beer, but this is a help yourself kind of place. Strong lunch and dinner crowds so be prepared for small waits during those times.

This funky hamburger joint most definitely reminds me of Rosamunde in San Francisco’s Haight Street; a food place that you can also enjoy at the actual restaurant or the Beer Revolution bar, which is located right next door. Do you see the parallel resemblance? But this hamburger joint also sell local micro-brews on taps(8 kinds) to enjoy with one of many creative sandwiches. And for dinner and to nobody’s surprise, I did order one of the restaurant’s unique sandwiches. I had the«Stacked BBQ cheeseburger». For $ 13.00, the sandwich has a thick patty, thick strips of apple wood bacon, onion strings and a tangy barbecue sauce in a puffy bun. For an additional $ 2.00, I get a side of sweet potato fries. I thought the sandwich was pretty good, but pricey. You can also get a similar burger with the identical aforementioned toppings at other burger places at an affordable price. But I do like the brew with my burger though. For $ 5.00, I got the«Federation behind you» Golden Blond ale. This brew is from Oakland California with 5% ABV. The brew has a nice clean and smooth taste. The hamburger place’s prices may be questionable. But definitely come here and Beer Revolution for the unique brews. As a beer drinker, I might check out Beer Revolution for the brews!

I really like Annex Burger. Super chill, tasty food and outdoor seating makes it a win for a casual, neighborhood joint. Food is a la carte, so if you’re a burger, beer and fries type, it adds up. In N Out prices it is not. Your order at the counter and pick up your food when your number’s called. Service was friendly which is always a bonus! Happy hour everyday from 2−6pm helps: $ 1 off all beers and burgers. Score. I visited for a late Saturday lunch(think 3pmish) and we had the place to ourselves. I opted for the veggie sandwich consisting of a deliciously marinated mushroom, sauteed kale, beets another veggie and I opted to add some cheese(+$ 1) on some fresh focaccia. Could there have been a bit more veggie to this sammy? Yes, but it was seasoned and cooked perfectly. It was damn tasty. I added garlic fries to this bad boy for I think about $ 2 or maybe it was the $ 5 price tag, but regardless, it adds up! Those garlic fries, tho. Garlic all up in herrrrr. The gentlemen I was dining with enjoyed the burger topped with peanut butter and mango salsa, because why not, and they were amped up on it. I snagged a bite and agree, peanut butter on a burger is actually pretty damn good.(Let’s be real, peanut butter on anything is pretty damn good). A few bonuses: they have homemade ranch, mustards and hot sauces you can use freely to spice up your burgers, fries, sandwiches, what have you. They have a pretty decent craft beer list!

Gee, I was hoping for something more memorable than what Jamie W. and I experienced at this relentlessly mediocre spot in Jack London Square. We had taken the ferry over just to bask in the warm weather of the East Bay and thought this might be a nice spot to grab a bite since most of the reviews for this place have been quite favorable. Perhaps it was our late afternoon arrival, but we were informed that about a third of the menu was not available to order including the fries. Fries? Jeez, a burger place that runs out of fries at 4PM when they don’t close until 10PM doesn’t reflect very well on what they think of their customers, does it? Couple this oversight with the plasticine banter that ensued with the order taker and I was ready to turn around and leave. Alas, we didn’t feel like finding another spot, so we took our chances. Lesson learned: Stick with your gut before you put something bad into it. The absence of fries made me veer away from the burgers into their sandwich selection, and I decided to try the $ 11 Dock Worker, a roast beef sandwich with caramelized onions, bell peppers, provolone and pepperoncini in a toasted sourdough roll(photo: ). Sounded like hearty eating, but the problem was that the roll was burnt and not hollowed out for the ample fillings. I ended up jettisoning the roll entirely and just eating the meat which was covered with the provolone which tasted more like a Velveeta-like sauce than cheese. Jamie had marginally better luck with their daily special, the $ 12 Firebird. This was made of Buffalo fried chicken and a slice of cheddar on a hamburger bun slathered with avocado mayo and piled with crispy onion strings(photo: ). At least his sandwich had some lubrication to get it down the gullet. What saved the meal, sorta speak, was their pinch hitter for the absent fries, the $ 5 Garlic Tater Tots(photo: ), but frankly there was no art to them. I too could defrost a bag of Ore-Ida Tater Tots and ladle a scoop of minced garlic over them. Our Diet Cokes came in mini-bottles which brought no end of frustration to Jamie who can’t stand places who don’t offer fountain drinks and free refills. I was so embarrassed that I didn’t finish my sandwich that I took pains to cover it in napkins like nobody would notice. Alas, a return to Annex Burger doesn’t appear to be in the cards anyway unless they straighten out what’s really going on in the kitchen. FOOD — 2 stars… thoughtless executions on comfort-food sandwiches that turned out not so comforting AMBIANCE — 2.5 stars… post-tailgate hangout vibe SERVICE — 2.5 stars… not sure how empathetic he was in being out of fries TOTAL — 2 stars… roll over, Jack London, roll over

Every film critic raved about the movie. I want to say 90 percent on rotten gave it praise. But when I saw it at the theater I left totally disappointed. I’m not sure what the story was about or what the critics saw in the film, because I thought it was boring. Sure it had Sandra Bullock and George Clooney in it, those are good actors! But Gravity sucked and was a disappointment to say the least. Well that’s how I feel about Annex Burger. Actually no, I’d rather watch Gravity again than eat another burger at Annex. What did we order? Cowboy burger: 1⁄3 pound party, cheddar cheese, bbq sauce, fried onions, and bacon. The burger was dry and lacked much flavor. The ingredients were really«run of the mill» type ingredients. Nothing stood out. Habanero Burger: my wife ate this burger and said it wasn’t hot at all. She said the mango salsa was ok. But she was disappointed. The Fries: the worst part of the meal were the fries. Dried out little bits of potato. Not full sized. I feel like they gave us the end cuts. Absolutely unacceptable fries served to us. Service was non-existent. I really think this place is for folks that drink a little too much next door and decide to have a bite to eat and really don’t care about quality at that point. Prices were about $ 9-$ 12 per burger. Like Gravity, Annex burger is a let down. And there ain’t no Sandra Bullock or George Clooney to save the day at Annex. Just a bad burger with even badder fries. If movie Critics Antoine Merryweather and Blaine Edwards reviewed Annex burger, they would say:(watch clip!!!) Hated it!

Another monthly dinner with friends, another hidden gem discovered! Which I mean quite literally this time, as I don’t know if I would’ve been able to find this place if I hadn’t already been with my friends. At least, not unless you told me it was right next door to Beer Revolution. I hear that that the owners are the same, which would make sense since their beer selection looks as good as the burgers! Walking in, Annex Burger feels like a dive that isn’t all that divey. There isn’t much in the way of seating(the tables they do have can still seat moderately sized groups), but there are plenty of appealing options to eat and drink. Not only did all twelve of their burgers and sandwiches sound great on the menu, but our orders looked even even better when they came out(we all ordered something different). – GARLICFRIES…$ 5 ( ) Initially, I didn’t see much garlic, so I assumed the flavor would be lacking. I was wrong. So wrong. The fries were cooked to a golden brown and packed a strong, garlicky punch. They could have been a little crispier, but that’s a minor quibble. – THEGODFATHER — stuffed with Molinari Dry Salami and topped with Sauteed Salami, Provolone Cheese, and Sliced Pepperoncini…$ 11 ( ) Not life changing, but pretty damn tasty. The salami and provolone were great, but I especially liked how the salami in the patty kept it juicy and flavorful throughout. Just as impressive was the brioche bun though — so soft and fluffy! Delicious. Given how their burgers don’t include fries, I can see why some may feel like Annex’s prices are a little high. For me though, there’s enough quality and substance to justify a return(nearly every burger is «stuffed»). If you want to get your money’s worth though, order the Habanero burger. Like their mango salsa, it’s LEGITIMATELYSPICY, so you’ll get to take that burning sensation in your mouth(and burgeoning ulcer) home with you. As my friend probably knows all too well… Me? I’ll stick with the Godfather. Or the Porker. Stuffed with bacon AND topped with more bacon(plus American cheese)? Yes, I think I am ready for my heart attack.

Bomb ass burgers with 10 unique beers on tap. The service is friendly and fun. Highly recommended for burgers and brew in jack London square
