El Grullo Taco Truck

My favorite lunch spot! I work at OAK and this taco truck is just a hop and skip away. The service is super quick, friendly, and the cashier being handsome is a bonus treat In all seriousness, i love their carne asada tacos and burritos. Its seasoned perfectly and they even give a few sprigs of green onion to crunch on as a side, which really compliments the flavors. You can really tell by the taste of the dishes that they know what they are doing and they love what they do. Love is the most important ingredient in every dish and its rare finding them in dishes outside of home.

Just passing by during work and decided to stop there. This truck is legit! Tacos al pastor were on point, flavorful salsa and the al pastor is tasty and well seasoned, and plenty of meat on them. Service was friendly and prompt, and soda ice cold. Not mind-​blowing but definitely solid, it’s one of the best loncheras I’ve tried. will stop by again next time I’m in the neighborhood!

Decided to come here on a quick lunch break and it was a good choice. Located by businesses but you can park near it. Got a burrito that was a good size and hit the spot. Clean and cheap. Will be back for some tacos next time. They were very friendly and made you feel comfortable ordering. Will be back

I’ve been working near this taco truck for almost a year now and I finally tried this place last week. My first experience was definitely a first for me! So I ordered and when it was time to pay I whip out my credit card. Then he tells me they only take cash! Whaat??! I’m like dang I shoulda known that already! But I mean I NEVER carry cash, I’m not meant to carry cash bc I’ll lose it or can’t keep track of all the loose money. I was definitely born in the right generation bc my plastic is a lifesaver!!! Anywho, so I’m on my lunch break… I only alotted enough time to pick up the food and eat it back at the office bc I took a nap for most of my lunch. So, by that time I definitely didn’t have time to go to the bank and get some cash. But the nice cashier said its okay and just pay him later. In my head, I’m like what??? Is this guy forserious? Anyways, I’m like omg thank you I’ll definitely pay you back! I ordered two taco and they were just alright. I went back the next day to pay my debt and order lunch for me and my office bc it was convenient. This time I tried the carne asada burrito which was hella bomb!!! I guess I just wasn’t a fan of the tacos. Since I’ve moved to Hayward, I haven’t been able to find a go to burrito truck/​taqueria. Before last week, nothing has impressed me compared to burrito trucks/​taquerias I know In Richmond. But I’m definitely coming back and it’s my new-​found, go-​to place for Mexican food!!! Thank you to the very nice cashier, who made my day and is proof that there a still great people in this world!

So this is the first time that I’ve had cash. I ordered two grilled chicken tacos. It’s safe to say that these are the best tacos that I’ve had so far. And the customer service was also fantastic. Wish they took card but I’d happily take cash out to eat here again.

I come here a lot during my deliveries to Oakland and it’s definitely my top 5 taco trucks. Their burritos and tacos are too good!

Great food on the go. I went during the day after work, but it definitely would feel like a sketchy area at night. They had amazing customer service. I will be returning.

I admit: my reason for visiting this truck the first time was definitely not about the food.
It was to get some face time with the adorable young man who runs it at lunchtime!
But when the food matched up to his handsome face and darling personality… I’ve been hooked ever since!
I always order a plate of chicken tacos to take back to my office and nosh on unabashedly by myself!
Even after the walk back, the tacos are still piping hot, moist and fresh, served the way they ought to: minus the cheese, sour cream and other unnecessary gut-​wrenching garbage.
Just lightly seasoned moist chicken, chopped onions, a slightly spicy salsa, with a few marinated jalapeños and radish slices. Extra peppers and green onions upon request.
I feel like I should really try the other choices, but why mess with a good thing?
Though I usually only order 3 tacos, they usually pile enough chicken meat on top to easily cover 4.
I’ll have to admit: I’m not much of a taco truck «foodie». But when I see cars every day make U-​turns across Bigge St. just to park and the line up for the truck, I know it’s got to be good!

This is my second time trying El Grullo neither time impressed me.
The first time I ordered a breakfast burrito, no wow honestly it was eggs beans cheese wrapped inside a tortilla with some salsa
Today i ordered a al pasto burrito with no sour cream. Again no wow, no flavor and on the smaller side. Still got 2 stars since its edible and didnt get me sick!

I found this Taco Truck via the Unilocal app as I was looking for some cheap eats after dropping my mom off at the Oakland Airport. El Grullo popped up and they did not disappoint.
My order:
Two tacos de Carne Asada
Two tacos de Carnitas
and
A Cheese quesadilla for my daughter
I think what impresses me is the presentation and the use of high quality plates and containers (at least high quality for taco truck standards). My tacos were place on a chinette… not the cheap ass flimsy paper plates you get every where else. Also the quesadilla came with freshly sliced avocado, sour cream, lettuce and tomato on the side.
The food itself was quite deliciuos. The carne asada was grilled perfectly and had great flavor. The Carnitas was tender and moist. The tortillas had the perfect amount of oil to tortilla ratio where it was crisp on the edges and soft in the middle.
The whole meal for me and my daughter cost me $ 9 bucks.
Will be back on Sunday when I have to pick my mom back up from the Airport!

Nice food. Fast service. The workers here project such a positive and outgoing attitude. It contagious. It’s more than just getting some tacos or burritos. Lol. Check it out. It’s worth it

Eat here often — I prefer the Carne Asada (Steak) or the Spicy Pork. Burrito, Taco and sandwiches are all great. I love the salsa and the fresh peppers! The peppers are no joke though, so if you don’t like spice don’t add those :)

I walk there from my job which is around the corner. They are always parked on Biggie Street.
I have only done the Breakfast Burrito once and it was just as good as everything else.
Also, I see them sweep up the street surrounding the cart — it’s a cleaner neighborhood because of them too!

Great Tacos. Asada meat is flavorful. Salsa is tasty. Dude taking my order was really inviting/​friendly. In town for business and came across this place on Unilocal.They had PG&E doing some road work less than 100′ away and had the road partially coned off, but I still found parking. Going to put them up against the other Mexican spots in the area and find my favorite.

I loveee the tacos here. I usually stop by on my lunch since it’s nearby. My cravings are always satisfied once I leave here! Seriously, their meat is so yum. Can’t think of one time I left without a smile :)
